DST makes a great problem

We have a problem with DST in Cairo, Egypt as we don't change time in the summer anymore. When ever i connect my iphone to the internet the time changes automatically which affects my alarms and all the programs that depend on time. What can we do?

There have been other posts on this matter. The decision to not go to DST was only recently made after the normal implementation of DST occurred. It will take some time for Apple, Microsoft and providers to make updates to their software to reflect this change.

The Yosemite upgrade very often damages existing Photoshop installations. Thank Apple for that.
You need to uninstall and re-install Photoshop, then apply all the Photoshop upgrades from scratch.

There could be a few things that could cause that issue. One is to make sure that the router settings are set to the recommended settings. The other is to go through the troubleshooting steps lied out in the articles below. This should give you a good starting point to get the issue resolved.

Ora-12547 and ora-12560 Great Problem

Hello. Sorry for my english.
I've a great problem.
My server hp with 4 processor and 8 gb memory and oracle 9.2.0.6 and linux Red Hat Advanced Server have one great problem. If the connected user are 70 or more , I can't connect from the client with sqlplus name/password@service_name, but I can connect from the server with sqlplus name/password. sqlplus give me ora-12547 and if I launch sqlplus and after write user and password it give me ora-12560
If the session are 69 or less I can connect from the client and I can connect from the server.
The main applicatio work becaus it call oracle directly from server, but when the users are more then 70 I can't use odbc or Enterprise Manager Console from the client.
Any ideas ? Thank you.

Great problems with K7N2G-ILSR onboard raid controller

I have really great problems with my s-ata raid controller. First of all i had a 40GB HDD attached to IDE3. Worked really fine.
Later on my system crashed and my raid controller seemed to be dead. (no "no array is defined" no "press crtl-f to enter setup,...).
Then I attached a s-ata drive to the first s-ata interface. Suddenly the raid controller said: "no array is defined, press ctrl-f to enter setup". I entered setup an built an array an restarted my computer. Again: "No array is defined, press crtl-f to enter setup."
Now my raid controller seems to be dead again cause it doesnt say a word again.
Please help me if you can. (Besides i tried to solve the problem with updating my bios. I tried all versions from v1.0 to v1.3 but there was no result.)

I have already tried two different types of Ram. 512 MB DDR 333 (I don't know the timing exactly but it's a CL2.5 Ram) and another one from a different manufacturer. Also DDR 333 CL 2.5. Then I combined both. But the raid controller didn't show any reaction and I can't imagine that the problem is the power supply because everything else works fine. Anyway... I will try to get a new K7NG2-ILSR on guarantee, sell my whole computer and buy the new K7N2-Delta because I have only problems with the K7N2G-ILSR.

Which printer will make the fewest problems?

I plan to buy a new printer, since my current one (Canon Pixma 4600, had it for 3 months) is causing problem after problem. I am sick and tired of reinstalling the printer over and over. Reminds me of my windows days...
I used to have a basic HP inkjet that did run great with and without Airport Express.
Any recommendations for a compact, problem-free printer?
(PS: I do not care about photo printing, I do basic stuff only)

The opinion of a problem free printer is not objective. I'm sure that someone else who is using the same printer as you is not having to reinstall the driver many times. And any recommendation someone else has may not work perfectly for you.
Having to reinstall the printer driver would indicate to me you have an issue with your Mac, in as far as its interoperation with the Canon driver and the core system and installed applications. This could be a fault of the Canon driver, possibly due to a conflict with something left over from a previous install, such as the HP Ink Jet driver suite. Therefore you could look at not using the Canon software and using version 5.2.3 of Gutenprint, which lists the iP4600 as a supported printer. If it works then at least you have narrowed down the cause, but if it fails in the same manner then you know you have something wrong at the core which another printer won't necessarily resolve.

Make frame freeze problem

Two problems I have....
1st problem...when I make frame freeze, the filters disappear. How do I keep those clips with filters stay look same. Some clips are fine...no problem. But other clips when freeze, filters gone.
2nd problem...I decide to use QT conversion to save still image but the pixels ratio into 4:3 which it should not be.... video is 16:9. How do I keep 16:9 when export still image?

My freeze frames usually take on the appearance of my clips with whatever filters I have applied. What you see of the freeze frame is often affected by which tracks are auto-selected in the timeline.
As far as the pixel aspect ratio is concerned, if you are staying within FCP, the pixel aspect ratio should be compensated for. However, if you need to create a still that looks correct at square-pixel dimension, you'll need to resize it in photoshop (don't forget to de-interlace it as well). The square pixel image size I use for 16:9 stills iis 864x480.

QuickTime 7 Upgrade and Windows Movie Maker v6 Audio Problem

Since ITunes up graded my quick time player to the latest version I can no longer add audio to my movies made on Windows Movie Maker version 6. The application crashes. Uninstalling Quick Time player seven and installing Quick Time Player 6 solves the problem but I loose the use of ITunes. I have included the crash information how do I correct this issue.

When i try to create a new email account (after insert mail and password)the phone don't finish the installation and return to first page of mail configuration with all type of mail provider(ovi,gmail,yahoo etc)

I could create a google mail sync the very first time, but after trying a bit around, I deleted it again and can't set up a new one.
BUT: I could create a google calendar sync account with a mail for exchange account:

This still works, but no gmail email!

Make offline clips problem with xsan

I have a problem with Final cut pro and Xsan.
Mac Pro with Leopard
Final cut pro 6
Xsan 2
We have 7 Mac pro and Xsan 2. When we make offline the clips in final cut pro and select delete from disk, sometimes the QT files are deleted from Xsan volume but in FCP in the browser does not shows the clips as offline (with the red line in the clips). Sometimes, when we leave FCP and click on the desktop and
come back to FCP, makes the clips offline, but this annoying
trick, does not always work.

Were the clips imported from a camera? Try connecting the card and opening the camera import function?

OSX 10.4.6 Update give great problems with Intel

This my first time on apple discussions.
Y work with OSX almost a month and today I sign up to upgrade 10.4.6
Terrify. Y have needed to restart the computer out of extensions by recomendation of the shopper. The shopper says that this upgrade dont´work with the new models of apple computers based on intel. I lost several tipografies and I can't make security copies and work with my digital tablet.
The shopper says tat is necesary make a new instalation since the begining and
the cost of this is for my count. He says that is not his guilty and that I need contact apple and make a reclamation.
By the moment I beg if you know some solution or wherw I can demand.

No, Archive & Install does not erase your files or network settings. remember there are two problems going on right now. Security Update 2006-003 fouls Acrobat and causes it to lock up the system. So go back to an OS without that securityy update. For instance, 10.4.6 works without that Security Update.
The Quicktime 2 update is the cause of systems not rebooting. See this link.

Hi,
Check if the application uses a seperate Thread to connect to the server. If the connection is made in the same thread. then it causes blocking coz the thread will be waiting to read data from the server during which it will not respond to key press events.

Features which would make JavaFX great

At my previous job I wrote a client application using WPF. It offers a few features for which I'm trying to find equivalents in JavaFX.
I'm just starting to learn/investigate JavaFX and it seems like a nice library.
WPF offers two controls which in my opinion is the cornerstone of their framework, namely ContentControl and ItemsControl (and derived classes like ListView).
With a ContentControl I can bind a ViewModel to it's content and then provide a template with which to render it. In WPF it would look something like:

where Person would be a property on the current DataContext.
I guess the equivalent in JavaFX could be:
<ContentControl ContentProperties="model=${model.Person}" ContentTemplate="PersonTemplate.fxml"/>
where model is a variable which has a Person property and PersonTemplate.fxml would be another FXML script which could then use it's model property (which would be the Person object) for rendering. I'm just making up the ContentProperties syntax for illustration purposes.
The ItemsControl can be used to display a list of objects. The WPF example would look something like:
<ItemsControl
ItemsSource="{Binding Path=People}"
ItemTemplate="{StaticResource PersonTemplate}"/>
where People could be an observable list of Person objects. If it is observable, the by adding or removing Person objects from the list, the user interface gets updated automatically.
I guess I could write controls like these, but since they provide such great flexibility I'd imagine that they would better fit as part of JavaFX, if not already supported.

I agree completely. Microsoft have been doing some excellent work on client software of late and there is much to be learned there. Likewise, Microsoft can (and is) learning a thing or two on open development from the Java community.
Just to set your expectations, don't expect JavaFX to have the fit, polish and functionality of some other frameworks at this time. JavaFX 2.0 was only recently released and is a complete rewrite. There are quite a few rough edges in the code and documentation. The roadmap looks good, but it will take a while and a large investment from Oracle to get there. It remains to be seen if they will be able to build the community for client side development in the way they already have on the server side.
JavaFX is clever and innovative and worth learning in it's own right. Many learnings you have from other systems, such as architectural patterns and technologies like css, xml based markup and layout, jquery style node selection, etc are easily transferable for use in JavaFX and some of JavaFX techniques such as construction of linear blends and gradients can be used elsewhere.
At the moment JavaFX is more of a base toolkit than an application framework, so you will miss some of the stuff like this http://compositewpf.codeplex.com/releases/view/55580#DownloadId=166638 from Prism. But, if JavaFX succeeds, that can be added over time and in an open development environment you can be one of the people who makes it work.
