DST patch problem
Hi,
I have forms6i application running on Oracle 9IAS . We have applied DST patch to the Database Server,Application Server and Application Server OS.
We are not able to apply patch to JDK 1.1.8 version of App Server because the patch is available only for JDK 1.4 and above. Now the issue is the APP server's OS time is advanced and we are only able to upload files in the Application Server (feature of application) but not able to retrieve the file again from the forms front end. The process interrupts there. The database server time and application server is not same now.
Now when we change the APP Server time to the current time we are able to upload the file and then view from forms front end correctly.
Please help if there is any solution for this. Is there any patch available for JDK 1.1.8. We found that TEXT_IO package in forms is retrieving the file.
Can anybody suggest as to what to do solve this problem
Hrm.. Have you tried pulling the battery? if not you might have to reload your operating system?
If someone helped you give them kudos. Research all info!

We have about 30 Macs running 10.3.9, all of which were patched last year with the DST patch (2007). They are all configured to set the date and time automatically using time.apple.com. The user account used by the people using them is a non-administrator account.
Since Daylight Savings Time changed in March 9, 2008, they correctly changed their time until late last week (end of March), when several of them went back to the old time. If I open the Date & Time System Preference Pane and authenticate, the clock changes to the correct time, without any further input from me other than authenticating as the admin. Once changed, some but not all go back to the incorrect time about a day later.
Any ideas? I am trying to see if there is a simpler solution that resetting PRAM, throwing away cache files, etc.
Other machines running newer versions of the OS don't have the issue.
Thanks in advance for any input and/or advice.hypermouse1, welcome to Apple Discussions.
How long has it been since you changed the internal memory battery? Check this site for battery part numbers and sources.

Does anybody know whether it's possible to get patches from anywhere other than MetaLink?
I downloaded and installed Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows from OTN, but I had one hell of a time getting the Enterprise Manager to connect properly because of that DST problem that everyone's been complaining about.
I read in one post that there was a DST patch. However, I don't have a support contract, so no Support Identifier to register for MetaLink. Is there anywhere else to obtain this DST patch?
I did manage eventually to get Enterprise Manager to connect and work properly by changing my Windows DST setting and 'hitting' EM until it just happened to work. But I have to go through that same ridiculous procedure every time I restart my machine, so I was hoping to get a patch. It is not possible to do so legally.
Buy the support agreement. There is a lot of value beyond the patches. Doing so will give you access to the Knowledge Base, Service Requests, and much more. -
Calendar object with Microsoft DST patch
We have been testing changes to the 2007 daylight saving time. We applied Microsoft DST patch to Windows 2000 with Java 1.3.1_18 and Windows 2003 with Java 5.0 Update 8. On both systems the calendar object return time zone of GMT although the system clock is set for Eastern.
If the Microsoft patch is removed, the correct time zone is again returned. Has anyone else seen this behavior when Windows OS patch is applied?> Does anyone know exactly what the problem is (what has Microsoft changed) ?
a) Go to <http://www.ciac.org/ciac/bulletins/p-006.shtml> and search for the "CAN-" links. Each component has a one paragraph description.
b) According to <http://patch-info.de/IE/2004/10/12/20-35-16.html> it contains:
mshtml.dll (6,0,2800,1476 - 29,09,2004)
urlmon.dll (6,0,2800,1474 - 23,09,2004)
shdocvw.dll (6,0,2800,1584 - 27,08,2004)
wininet.dll (6,0,2800,1468 - 23,08,2004)
browseui.dll (6,0,2800,1584 - 22,08,2004)
shlwapi.dll (6,0,2800,1584 - 20,08,2004)
c) Some of the things that could be breaking are DOM references and DHTML, which are advanced features that not every application uses.
From <http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS04-038.mspx>:
"Caveats: Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 834707 <http://support.microsoft.com/?id=834707> documents the currently known issues that customers may experience when they install this security update. The article also documents recommended solutions for these issues."
Among other issues, that page says [<b>emphasis</b> added]:
- After you install the MS04-038 security updates for Internet Explorer, some dynamic HTML (DHTML) <b>drag-and-drop operations are blocked</b> by Internet Explorer.
- Security update 834707 includes a change to the way that Internet Explorer handles function pointers. This change in functionality occurs when an event handler points directly to a Document Object Model (DOM) function [...] Change in Internet Explorer function pointer behavior <b>causes code to not be executed</b> when an event handler is set to directly reference a DOM function after installing MS04-038 security updates.
BTW, Note 785308 has been updated with a workaround.

DST Patch Prerequisites and Software Updates
Mixed environment with PowerMac G5 PPC that are running Tiger 10.4.2 and some 10.4.6. Want to make sure that these machines are updated correctly with the Daylight Saving Time changes in 2007 without impacting customers.
Will have to be accomplished manually, (still in the process of obtaining Apple Remote Desktop)
Would probably prefer manual updates at this time due to Prerequisites and without impacting production.
Questions are mixed and confirmation is needed:
# 1) Apple is indicating that the Daylight Saving Time Update (Tiger)Post Date: February 15, 2007, has a system requirement Mac OS X 10.4.8 (Client or Server). Does this mean that OSX needs to be updated to v 10.4.8 in order for the manual DST patch to work?
# 2) Seems to be a contradiction regarding if the DST patch is and was implemented with various updates up to 10.4.8. Again according to Apple the DST rule changes for the United States and most of Canada are already available in Mac OS X 10.4.5 or later. Since I have around 70% of PPC already updated to 10.4.6 is the DST needed?
# 3) The remaining G5 PPC that currently are running 10.4.2 based on above will have to be updated with the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update (combo) I am pretty nervous based on this update being successful, even with permission repair prior to update etc....
The Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update (combo) updates Mac OS X 10.4, 10.4.1, 10.4.2, 10.4.3, 10.4.4, 10.4.5, 10.4.6, or 10.4.7 to version 10.4.8 on both Intel-based Macs and PowerPC-based Macs.
# 4) Do all current Tiger OS version need to be updated to 10.4.8 to assure that DST patch is installed?
Confirmation - Information or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
PowerMac G5 2.5 Mhz Mac OS X (10.4.2) Mixed PPC 10.4.2 & 10.4.6
PowerMac G5 2.5 Mhz Mac OS X (10.4.2)Brian--
Since the 10.4.6 update as you indicate above fixes
the DST problem for US locations that affects my
customers
(We are in the US) and our time zone. There would be
no reason to update these machines to 10.4.8 since
they already are updated to 10.4.6 and addresses my
immediate concern which is the DST issue.
Well, if you only deal with local time on your computers, it probably won't make a difference. It's when you're trying to calculate times in different time zones where the times could get off. So email headers and downloaded files might have strange time stamps off by an hour in some cases. Those are the kinds of non-obvious activities that could be affected.
" Updating to 10.4.8 alone won't do it, obviously,
you'd need the DST patch"
Now I am really confused since this URL and your
comments contradict this documentation for Apple. If
having the 10.4.6 version of Tiger and it already has
the DST patch why are you saying that 10.4.8 alone
won't do it??
Well, there are really two issues: Apple updated the US time zone files and most of Canada in 10.4.5. So if you update to 10.4.5 or later, you'd get these changes. However, one location that didn't get updated was Vancouver. You can check it from the Terminal app like this:
<pre class="command">zdump -v /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver | grep 2007</pre>If you have 10.4.8 with the extra DST update, you'll see the following:
<pre class="command">/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Mar 11 09:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 01:59:59 2007 PST isdst=0
/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Mar 11 10:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 03:00:00 2007 PDT isdst=1
/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Nov 4 08:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:59:59 2007 PDT isdst=1
/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Nov 4 09:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:00:00 2007 PST isdst=0</pre>If you just have 10.4.5 or later, but no DST update, the spring times will be three weeks later (Apr 1, I think), and the fall ones will be a week earlier. And it's the same for a few other locations and time zones in Canada and around the world.
Maybe I am reading into this but there seems to be
conflicting documentation here.
Well, I can see where that page might be kind of confusing, but, in a nutshell, it says that if you have 10.4.5 or later, you have some, but not all, of the DST changes for 2007 installed on your system. If you follow the link at the end of the Mac OS X 10.4 and Mac OS X Server 10.4 Tiger section, it links to a page that has a bit more information on the February 2007 DST update. That update has all the changes as of January 8, 2007.

Oem web page will not display after O/S dst patch
Hello,
The Grid web page will not display after we DST patch for the o/s.
All below start fine without any errors:
emctl start oms
emctl start iasconsole
opmnctl startall
emctl start agent
The Grid web page is not displaying. What might happened after the o/s dst patch that might cause this? Our GRID is 10204 with a 10104 repository. The 10104 has not yet been dst patch.
What logs should I be looking at to figure why the web page is not displaying? Thank you.Provide the output of these comands:
$OMS_HOME/bin/emctl status oms
$OMS_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl status
$AGENT_HOME/bin/emctl status agent
$DATABASE_HOME/bin/sqlplus "/ as sysdba" << EOF
SELECT STATUS FROM V$INSTANCE;

$DATABASE_HOME/bin/lsnrctl status LISTENER_NAME

We have 10.2.0.1 installtion on a two node RAC. In order to apply DST patch we are moving to 10.2.0.3. I was following Oracle Database Patch Set notes and applying the patch. I have upgraded Oracle clusterware and then decided to go with rolling upgrade. After stopping all the services on the first node, when I ran
c:\crs_home\install\Patch102.bat I am getting the following error.
Failed to patch all the files in the ORA_CRS_HOME. Please ensure that all processes running from the home have been stopped.
I went and checked the 2nd node and its services. one of the service
OracleCSService status is showing as starting. I am unable to stop/start even after rebooting the 2nd node.
Does any one has a clue in what is going on? I am unable to proceed further on this. Help is really appreciated.I could resolve this issue. Oracle is not supporting rolling upgrade for this version. So went with non rolling upgrade. That resolved this issue.

Hi All,
We are having 1600 Servers for our organization, there is a DST time change on 27 April 2014 for
Chilli \ LATAM region, we have already applied the DST patch in the month of March 2014, could you please advice me if we need to reapply this patch on our servers to maintain a time sync between the NTP servers, DC's and member servers.
All the desktops, DC's , NTP servers and member servers were patched during the release of the patch
in the month of March. We had applied the following KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2935092/en-us
Please confirm. Do let me know if any more information is required.

This isn't really a security issue which is the purpose of this forum.
Why would you think that you'd need to reapply the patch if you've already
done so?

EBS 11g upgrade and DST patches
OS: Linux X86
EBS: 11.5.10.2
DB upgrade: 10.2.0.4 -> 11.2.0.3
I am trying to figure out the process for updating the DST version. Our current version is 4 and we'd like to go to 17.
I am following the following MOS note trail:
1) Interoperability Notes Oracle EBS 11i with Oracle Database 11gR2 (11.2.0) [ID 881505.1]
2) --> Complying with Daylight Saving Time (DST) and Time Zone Rule Changes in E-Business Suite 11i [ID 458452.1]
3) ----> Applying the DSTv17 update for the Oracle Database [ID 1362718.1]
4) ------> Updating the RDBMS DST version in 11gR2 (11.2.0.1 and up) using DBMS_DST [ID 977512.1]
Regarding the DST DB patches, it seems to me that there is nothing to do "before" the upgrade and that the key steps are in MOS Note 977512.1 sections 3 and 4 and are done "after" the DB upgrade to 11.2.0.3.
But, MOS note 458452.1 says to do the DB DST patches before the Application Tier and EBS DST patches.
So, could I plan the DST patches as follows?
1) Upgrade the DB to 11.2.0.3 (no DST DB patching done to the 10.2.0.4 DB)
2) Apply DB DST patches
3) Apply Application Tier DST patches
4) Apply EBS DST patches

I think it 's going to work, especially after looking at the zdump.

pavHi, oracle.discussions.sdk.impl.util.ldap.LdapUtils is the right class.
You can check the list of APIs available in that class by running a
command like the following:
javap -classpath $ORACLE_HOME/discussions/lib/discussions.jar oracle.discussions.sdk.impl.util.ldap.LdapUtils
LdapUtils.getUserInfoByEmail(String email) should be part of the list.
However, you are just trying to get a TdUser instance to build
his own TdStore, let me suggest you to look at the TdUserFactory
class. You can use APIs like TdUserFactory.getTdUserByEmail(String)
to get a TdUser instance. In general, please follow the code
sample in the TdStore JavaDoc to initialize a TdStore for a user.
Thanks,

I need help regarding DST patch installation.
Can any body give the details of this process and provide the steps to be followed.I would like clarification on whether the DST patch needs to be installed.
For sites with a 10.1.2 Enterprise Database and Oracle App Server Forms
application only used by local personnel, is the DST patch necessary? We do not
use any of the Timezone functionality and only use sysdate to record audit
information.
Prior to this Oracle NOTE, we suggested sites update their Windows or SUN
machines, or by Network update, and restart the databases and application server.
Are there other reasons to do the patch to a database? Would it have to be done
to App Server Infrastructure databases as well?
On a side note, when the older DST event occurs for OS on a PC or Network,
will sites not need to restart their database and web servers as well to keep it
from a second change?
