DTP in background

I'd like to know if in 7.X is possibile to schedule a DTP in background. We'd like to execute a specific DTP this evening at 9:00 pm, we know we can create a process chain and schedule it and thst's fine but can we schedule a single DTP in a specific date/time?
tks in advance.
Luca

Hi,
The only option to use DTP in background is using process chains.
See info at:

    Hi,
while loading the data  to Data target (0chrt_acct_attr) through DTP...... I got the Error "  The master data is deleted in the Background". Plz advice me it is an urgent issue.

Does the log in SLG1 say any more details?
Use RSDMD as Object & MD_DEL as Sub Obj. Leave the other field to *.
Is it happening for 1 specific object or for all? What type of data (attr or text)?

how to do background job on dtp

    hi,
whenever you run the DTP in Process chain it will be running in background.
hence in BI it is recommended to use PC.
if you execute it will be running immediately.

  • DTP Background job in sm37?

    Hi Gurus,
When I see the dtp status from the monitoring screen of dtp thru Job Overview, the below screen comes.
Status              then  other tabs for timings and other.....
    BI_Process_dtp_load                         Finished
    BIDTPR_123456_1                             Active
    BIDTPR_123456_1                             Active
    BIDTPR_123456_1                             Active
    BIDTPR_123456_1                             Active
    BIDTPR_123456_1                            Finished
What these middle jobs are for and why then it always shows Finished in last BIDTPR_123456_1 status.
And what does the RELEASE JOB means in the same screen

    Hi SDNSAP
For example you have triggered a DTP which is having parallel processing as 10 with serial and immediate parallel processing as processing mode, then you can see maximum of 9 data packets are running.
All these 9 data packets will with job BIDTPR_1236023_1 individually, i mean that each packet will have one job with BIDTPR_1236023_1. whenever few packets are finished their respective job status will be finished.
    Thanks,

  • Taking too much time in Rules(DTP Schedule run)

    Hi,
I am Scheduling the DTP which have filters to minimize the load data.
when i run the DTP it is taking too much time in the "rules" (i can see the  DTP monitor ststus package by pakage and step by step like "Start routine" "rules" and "End Routine")
here it is consuming too much time in Rules Mapping.
what is the problem and any solutions please...
    regards,
    sree

    Hi,
Time taken at "rules" depends on the complexity involved there in ur routine. If it is a complex calculation it will take time.
Also check ur DTP batch settings, ie how many no. of background processes used to perform  DTP, Job class.
    U can find these :
goto DTP, select goto menu and select "Settings for Batch Manager".
In the screen increase no of Processes from 3 to higher no(max 9).
    ChaNGE job class to 'A'.
If ur DTP is still running , cancel it ie Kill the DTP, delete from the Cube,
Change these settings and run ur DTP one more time.
    U can observer the difference.

  • Questions on DTP

    Hi,
I have a few questions on DTP:
    1. How do I know the total time of an extraction?
I noticed that there are two different things:
    - Validity Period in Header tab
    - Duration in Details tab
What are the differences between two and which gives me the correct total extraction time?
    2. What is the optimum number for Package Size?
I extracted data from a DSO totalling 10,000+ records.
When I tested for 1,000 and 5,000 Package Size, it is slower than 50,000 Package Size. If making the Package Size smaller reduces performance, then what is the use of Parallel Processing in DTP? Is it because of I only have 1 background process available for DTP so parallel processing doesnt make any sense in my situation?
    Thanks!

    Hi Srilatha,
How do I get to this view?
    I tried via SE11 > Display > Content.
Number of entries shows 0 record.

    Hi,
how is it possible to execute a DTP in dialog process. In my mind it is only possible for debugging...
In "Display Data Transfer Process" -> "Goto" -> "Settings for Batch Manger" you can edit settings like Number of Processes or Job Class.
Additional take a look at table RSBATCHPARALLEL and

  • Dump while Executing DTP

    Hi All,
In process chain, While executing DTP( from PSA to ZINFOOBJECT-Master data), I am getting the following ABAP Dump:
    Runtime Errors         TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
The internal table "???" could not be further extended. To enable
error handling, the table had to be delete before this log was written.
As a result, the table is displayed further down or, if you branch to
the ABAP Debugger, with 0 rows.
At the time of the termination, the following data was determined for
    the relevant internal table:
    Memory location: "Session memory"
    Row width: 5356
    Number of rows: 0
    Allocated rows: 138348
Newly requested rows: 2 (in 69173 blocks)
    How to correct the error
The amount of storage space (in bytes) filled at termination time was:
        Roll area...................... 416432
        Extended memory (EM)........... 2002720576

        Short area..................... " "
        Paging area.................... 24576
        Maximum address space.......... 4294967295
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
        keywords:

  • Short dump:ASSIGN_TYPE_CONFLICT- While loading data through DTP

    Dear all:
We currently work with BI NW2004s SP10. We created transformation for mapping InfoSource and InfoCube based on 3.x transfer rule. For example, we used cube 0PUR_C04 and Data Source 2LIS_02_ITM_CP. And the transformation is "TRCS Z2LIS_02_ITM_CP -> CUBE 0PUR_C04". Everytime when we tried to load data via DTP. A runtime short dump occurred: ASSIGN_TYPE_CONFLICT
    Error analysis:
You attempted to assign a field to a typed fie but the field does not have the required type.
we went back and forth to activated transformation and DTP. But still, same error occurred.
    Any idea, please !!!!

  • Error DTP is not working.

    Hi
I have a question regarding DTP error handling. I have erronious data on PSA, now i am correcting data in PSA and loading to ODS and activating. As it is a full load, I want to keep these records in an another table like error PSA in 3.x. How it is possible in BI. I have created Error DTP which will post error records in Error stack and dont let the load fail. But it is not working.
    Please help me.
    Haaris

    HI,
On the Update tab page in the data transfer process (DTP), the error handling settings allow you to control how the system responds if errors occur in the data records when data is transferred from a DTP source to a DTP target.
These settings were previously made in the Info Package. When using data transfer processes, Info Packages only write to the PSA. Therefore, error handling settings are no longer made in the Info Package but in the data transfer process.
    Settings for Error Handling
For a data transfer process (DTP), you can specify how you want the system to respond when data records contain errors. If you activate error handling, the records with errors are written to a request-based database table (PSA table). This is the error stack. You can use a special data transfer process, the error DTP, to update the records to the target.
Temporary storage is available after each processing step of the DTP request. This allows you to determine the processing step in which the error occurred.
    "Repairing" with Error DTP
You create an error DTP for an active data transfer process on the Update tab page. You run it directly in the background or include it in a process chain so that you can schedule it regularly in the context of your process chain. The error DTP uses the full update mode to extract data from the error stack (in this case, the source of the DTP) and transfer it to the target that you have already defined in the data transfer process.
    Thanks/Tarak

Am I forgetting something, did I do something wrong?
    Problem:
I get an error message when activating a new DTP that says: "Creation of PSA /BIC/B0005668 failed". That's it. It does not finish activation. No short dump, no SM21 log.

We are on BI 7.0. I have an existing line item DSO (created in 3.5). I created a new cube to be loaded from DSO. Transformation from DSO to cube is complete and active.
    Solution:
I have checked this forum (maybe not thoroughly) and OSS without success. Deleted and recreated DTP several times with same result.
    Any suggestions?

"Why are you using export datasource here when you created TRFN and DTP ?"
I'm not. I tried to generate one from DSO just to see if PSA was created there. That worked.
    "Which datasource is inactive ?"
None. DS to DSO is active.
"Flow in this case should be :
Sourcesystem - Execute Infopackage - DSO - Execute DTP - Cube"
Yes, that is how flow is set.
"Make sure the DSO is active, TRFN is active and try to activate the delta DTP - Are the source and target correct for the DTP ?"
DSO is active with data loaded and activated from source system. Transformation is active. Tried creating a Full and a delta DTP with same results. Using correct source DSO to correct cube for DTP.
    Thanks for your input.

  • How to remove background object in new pages?

How do I remove a background object on document issued from previous pages version?
Before I could tick 'background object are selectable' or something like this... Now I cannot find anything comparable!

Section Masters have static uneditable items on every page, really just watermarks.
I take this back. It won't work in Layout mode documents but in Word Processor documents:
    1. Add a vertical rule with the Shapes tool.
    2. Add either 3 text boxes or a 3 row table
    3. Select all the above: Menu > Arrange > Section Master > Move Objects to Section Master/Make Master Objects Selectable
    4. Insert a Section Break on each page. It has to be a Section break otherwise editing the Master Objects will repeat on previous pages.
This has been always the absolute worst part of Pages 5 and I really can't figure out how anyone at Apple thought this was good design.
This was all resolved 30 years ago in PageMaker, Ready-Set-Go, and several other DTP Apps. Not to mention it worked very effectively in Pages '09.
I admit the Captured Pages implementation in Pages '09 is less than obvious, but its function once set up is way faster than anything else I know.

  • Error When Transporting the DTP's

    HI All,
I was facing the problem with Transporting the DTP's to Quality.
Transport log error : Program Terminated (job : RDDEXEC,no.: 09463801).
(Program RDDEXECL'Which was started in the background, was terminated abnormally.)
    We are using BI7.0 WITH S.Pack 09.
If I Checked the same job in the Quality System. the job has been cancelled.
    JoblOG in Quality is :
Step 001 started (program RDDEXECL, variant , user ID DDIC)
All DB buffers of application server sapbiqa were synchronized
    ABAP/4 processor: MESSAGE_TYPE_X
    Job cancelled
    Runtime Errors         MESSAGE_TYPE_X

    How to correct the error
Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following

  • All the DTP jobs are routing to one application server

    HI all,
DTP process job is triggering 3 child jobs all those child jobs are going to one application server, we have many DTP jobs all the jobs are routing to one paticular server that is causing application server to be hang(high cpu, memory utilization) .could you please suggest me in the process chain, is BI team can assign the application, i am not getting why dtp child jobs are executing only one application server, i have obesereved since 10 days it is happening. could you please suggest me how we can over come this.
    Thanks & Regards.
    Venugopal

Check tcode RSBATCH, If I'm not wrong DTP_LOAD process type is assigned to application server on which these DTP jobs are running. Remove that application server name and save.
Again use RSBATCH, under 'Background and Parallel Processes' tab, click 'Switch Off F4 Popup for Server/Host/Group', enter *** (star) under Users for 'Users for Whom NO Server/Host/Group Popup Should be Processed'. Now activate the PC and execute and check the DTP jobs.
Since u have 4 Appln Servers, best bet would be creating a server group. See the below link.
