DTS 6.1 discrete by x-fi extrememusic soundc

hi everyone i have recently take x-fi extrememusic sound card , i would like to know whether my sound card is able to play DTS 6. discrete mode or it uses the DTS 6. Matrix method for playing the DVD which are given the certification of DTS 6. Discrete . can any one tell me whether my sound card fully supports both formats or only one if so which one.
i am using creative T7900 7. speakers .

When you play a movie the thing i like about the xfi soundcard is a small feature that creative introuced it tells me the audio stream its playing (an icon at the bottom near the clock) and it only displays for a few seconds.
Most moi'ves i brough advertise Dolby digital EX or DTS ES. When i play them i find mostly the creative decoder tells me otherwise. The creative decoder identifies the stream and displays it at the bottom and i find that most movies that advertise the DTS ES or DD EX are not Dolby digital EX or DTS ES but just dolby digital 5. or DTS 5.. The only movies i have so far that are dolby digital EX are starwars episode 5 and 6 (despite ,2,3 and 4 claim to be but not), the punisher, and the only DTS 6. so far is top gun (my movie collection is small as well). but unless the creative decoder is identiftying the audio streams wrong which i doubt i so far. only some of my movies state the correct audio stream on the dvd.
Have a look at the icon that appears when playing the movie and see if it says either dolby digital, dolby digital ex, dts surround or dts surround es, if its displays either Dolby Digital EX or DTS Surround ES then they are 6. streams if they are not then they are 5. which might be why your not hearing anything out the back speaker.Message Edited by Stargazer on 0-06-2006 :5 AM

  • How do you do surround sound audio then?

    Ok heres the basic outline.
Using Audition (was made in v1.5, now I have v2.0) I created a 5.1 mix of a music track.
I also have a video file with no sound (an .avi file at 720x576 and 25fps)
I would like to tie them together and end up with a DVD-Video that plays the video with the sound track in 5.1.
Is it possible? and are there ANY tutorials on this? Encore (v2.0) boasts that you can do this, but I can't find any documentation on how to do it.
    Please help a beginner!
    Thank you in advance

    >Addon?? how to I get a DTS addon for Premiere Pro?
Sorry about the wrong word there - by "addon" I meant that Encore does not have any built-in DTS encoders, and neither does Premiere Pro.
There are 3 companies selling DTS encoders that I know of:
1 - Minnetonka Audio, specifically the SurCode section. see http://www.surcode.com/ and look for the SurCode DTS-DVD encoder. This is at the moment half-price at $500. Expensive, when you consider the following options but still the cheapest way to get DTS Audio.
2 - Steinberg - they sell a plug-in DTS encoder for their Nuendo & Cubase systems. NOT cheap, currently around $1500.
3 - DTS themselves, or their licensed dealers. Current shipping encoder is the DTS-PSE, which can handle not only core DTS, but also the DTS-ES (both discrete & Matrixed for 6.1) as well as DTS 96/24. All these streams are DVD Legal.
The new series of encoders is due out any time now. I have been using one for a frew months, and it is even better - the DTS-HD SAS will give you every possible stream except DTS-HD MAS (Lossless and High Resolution - more in a minute) for all types of disc including DVD, HD DVD and Blu Ray. It's around $800.
The flagship encoder, DTS-HD MAS will be around $1500 or so, and will be complete including decoders & stream players as well as tools to stitch up the new streams. DTS-HD MAS is lossless, with nothing thrown away. DTS-HD High Resolution will still be up to 24/96, in 7.1, but at up to double the current highest bitrate permissible in DVD-Video of 1509Kb/sec.
Downside is these newer extensions are not supported in DVD-Video at all, and only the top of the range Authoring systems for Blu Ray & HD DVD will support this. The Noddy & Big Ears edition of DVDit has no DTS support at all despite it being the only high quality Multichannel format actually mandated across both HD DVD & Blu Ray. Go figure.
    Legality.
In SD DVD, DTS is considered an "optional" format. This means in the real world that no DVD player is actually required to be capable of handling a DTS stream. In reality, some will but most still won't. In those that will there are 2 possibilities:
    1 - Internal decoding
2 - "Passthrough" mode (IE outputting the unprocessed bitstream for external decoding in an amplifier).
The latter is the best option. If decoding internally, chances are high you must then use a 6 channel analogue output from the back of the player, or else it will decode to a stereo stream by employing internal downmixing.
When a player can output the raw bitstream, this is better as it allows the amp to decode, which it will always do at the best possible quality it can. This is important, as it gets to the er, "core" of the DTS system (Joke there for those who understand DTS!)
DTS uses a 24/48 Core stream, with everything else as extensions to the core. So, if the stream is a 24/96 resolution 6.1 DTS-ES, this is allowable as the extended frequency response & the extra channels are in the extensions, leaving the original core alone. This allows legacy equipment to still decode, and ensures that all amps/decoders use the best they can.
Trouble with being optional is this:
i you cannot legally create a DVD-Video disc with just DTS audio. It will be out of spec.
Discs MUST contain either LPCM or Dolby Digital as Audio Stream 1.

  • How to make DTS work on X-fi ExtremeMus

Hello, I recently bought an X-fi card. Everything works fine except DTS surround. I tried many dvd movies and non work. I did set 5. settings in powerdvd. I didn't have thta issue with my ZS card. DO i have to install something specific for the decoder to work?

I can't get the card to decode DTS either when using the analogue outputs. It plays DTS for a split second before cutting the sound. I have the player set to SPDIF and the card set to decode DTS.

  • T420 and Dolby TrueHD / DTS HD Master Audio Passthrough / Bitstream

I am having trouble getting Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD Master Audio to bitsream from my T420 and hopefully you guys can shed some light. Currently I am using a displayport->HDMI adapter to input into my Pioneer Elite vsx-21txh receiver which in turn outputs to my 50" Toshiba TV. I can bitstream standards DTS and Dolby Digital no problem and get discrete surround sound, however when I try to play sources with DTS HDMA or Dolby TrueHD, the receiver doesn't recognize that there is a lossless signal and still decodes only the core DTS or DD.
I'm running windows 7, my receiver supports the HD lossless audio formats, and according to the "Playback device" properties on the T420's HDMI audio device, it also lists "DTS HD" and "Dolby TrueHD" under its encoded formats. My Nvidia driver is a bit old (268.71), however I don't think that is the issue...
Has anyone had experience outputting HD audio on the T420? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Might be the NVS drive they updated and I tested it recently after its been out for very long time. See my Thread on it which is still current.

  • Home theatre connect dts-6

Does anybody know if the home theatre connect?dts - 60?has better sound compared to analog imputs? I'm thinking of buying it for the sound.

It offers the convenience of deli'vering 6 discrete channels over a single cable, however since DTS is a lossy compression scheme it cannot offer better quality, actually it will introduce artifacts (almost undetectable if you are not expecting them and you haven't listened to the uncompressed audio). Unless?your receiver?doesn't?have analog inputs go for the HT cable, it's cheaper, you can expand to 8 channels?and if you don't run into electrical issues (such as a ground loop) it will degrade less the sound than?the compression.

  • Previewing dts via optical out

I'm using DTS streams in DVD studio pro 4 (.cpt files). Although the manual says it can be previewed through the optical out on a G5 with an external DTS encoder, the DTS-stream can't be previewed, it simply doesn't work. (ac3 files are previewed ok in this way). (and by the way, after building a project the apple dvd-player does play the DTS through the same optical out.)
so how can I preview DTS in dvd-studio pro 4 with the optical out on a G5?
    Geert

To listen to more than the default 2 channel output of a G5 you will need a PCI soundcard such as the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 (or some other more expensive PCI card or Firwire option) which provides 6 discrete analogue outputs from FCP and other mutlitrack sound editing applications (not, at the moment, from Soundtrack Pro).
The optical output only passes encoded streams of DTS and Dolby Digital as well as two channel audio.
DVD player and DVD Studio Pro 4.0 can pass encoded streams to the optical output.

  • Need to convert DTS packages to SQL Server 2012 environment.

    Hi Friends,
As Part of the Project Requirement,we need to convert DTS packages to SQL Server 2012 environment.
    Please sugest me best approach.
    Thanks

Best approach is to re-design the packages in SSIS 2012 directy if it is feasible. Because most of the DTS feaures are discontinued and also you will have to clean up all errors that you are going to get after migration.
Discontinued Integration Services Functionality in SQL Server 2012
Otherwise you need to migrate it first to 2008R2 and then 2012 version.

  • [SOLVED] unable to play mp3 or flac files in mpd, .dts files play fine

I had a perfect running mpd setup before I tried to fiddle around with some dependancies to get xbmc-svn to compile without errors. I installed some AUR packages (ffmpeg-svn, x264-git, libva-sds, libvpx, libid3tag).
After that I started to experience trouble with mpd, it start fine and says it plays audio files just fine but whenever i play a mp3 or flac file the progress bar just looks like it's playing the file but I hear no sound. Whenever I play a .dts file i hear the sound correct.
I'm very curious to why this happends.
I rolled back the packages mentioned above but the issue remains unsolved.
My setup: pc is connected to receiver by hdmi cable using the latest alsa version with digital passthrough over hdmi, currently using mpd-git from AUR

  • I have some dts cd's that I want to import into itunes on a windows pc and then play back on my apple tv 3 (i think its 3, about 9 months old) to listen to through my onkyo amp via hdmi as dts, when I play back I just get white noise.

I have some dts cd's that I want to import into itunes on a windows pc and then play back on my apple tv 3 (i think its 3, about 9 months old) to listen to through my onkyo amp via hdmi as dts, when I play back I just get white noise. I have seen lots of old posts which go on about converting files but am wondering wherher at the current time with the latest versions of itunes and apple tv whether this should by now be a virtual play out of the box solution.
I have tried connecting my atv to the amp by optical cable but that didnt produce anything better and am assuming that a hdmi cable should be able to reproduce everything an optical cable does.
Is this something I should be able to achieve without having to recode the files?
Tracks are imported to itunes as apple lossless, have tried setting the atv audio settings to auto and 16 bit, neither works yet I was told some time ago by an apple rep that the atv shoud be able to handle any type of audio as it just passes it to the amp to decode. I am not stupid but not that technical when it comes to audio and bitrates etc so any explaination would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help

Willy, the procdedure you describe works perfectly for AppleTV G1. In fact, I frequently play DTS music discs ripped to my iTunes library as Apple Lossless (ALAC) and synched to the ATV. What happens is that, as far as iTunes and the ATV are concerned, a conventional stereo 16/44 audio file is being played; however my reciever detects the DTS data stream, and instead of outputting static, it decodes the 5.1 channels correctly. This process parallels the way DTS discs were designed to be played back: a conventional CD player is connceted, via digital out, to a DTS-aware reciever/pre-amp and the two channels of static are recognized as 6 channels of DTS-encoded audio.
However this process will only work if the player (CD, ATV, PC, etc.) sends a "bit-perfect" 16 bit/44.1 khz data stream to the decoding device. In the case of ATV G2 and G3, as has been discussed elsewhere, the unit resmaples all audio - including 16/44 PCM (Redbook CD)  - to 16/48. While this is not a big deal for conventional audio CDs, MP3s, and AAC files, it mangles the fragile DTS datastream and renders it undecodable. The resulting static that you hear is just like the static you would hear if you played a DTS CD on a non-DTS capable system.
Sadly, I'm not aware of any easy way around this. You could use a program like Foobar (and the DTS plugin) to convert your DTS CDs to 6-ch .wav or .flac file. From there you could transcode the file to AC-3 and then mux it into a video container that ATV supports. You may need add a dummy video track, for iTunes/AppleTV to be ok with the file, though I'm not sure. This may be a lot of work.
Sorry for the bad news. I wish that the iTunes/ATV ecosystem had better multi-channel audio support.

  • What sort of input should be given to the FP-DO-410 module to generate discrete output

We are using a FP-DO-410 module for creating discrete output. Can we use it to generate swept square wave pulses

    Hi,
You can generate a "square wave" with the FP-DO-410, but this is not normally the way this module is used. This module contains "static digital output", which means you can only write true or false, in other words, you cannot exactly control the frequency of the output signal, if you want to have control of the frequency you normally use a counter module (FP-CTR-50X) or even better a FP-PG-522... these modules have their frequency hardware controlled...
You can create a square wave with the FP-DO-410 but in that case you will have to create the square wave via software and the frequency will be software dependent, connection dependent and so on... the final result will be very poor (no practical use)...
So, if you want to create square wave I
    would advise the FP-PG-522.
    I hope it helps

I want to run/trigger a crystal report based on file existence or based on a stored proc/sql dts/a value present in a sql table. The way I want to do is schedule a crystal report in crystal enterprise and then run the report based on a event like file existence or based on a sql dts completion or a value existence in a sql table. We are using crystal reports v10.
I am not sure how we can do this, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Macbook Pro 17" early 2011 Discrete GPU failure

Hi, before I start, this is the serial of my MBP so you can identify the exact model.
    MBP 17" Core i7 2.2 Ghz serial number C0*******F92
My Macbook pro 17" (early 2011) started to freeze once a month, but then, it started getting worse.  I narrowed down the problem to the discrete GPU graphic engine as I was able to disable the automatic switching and be able to use the system with most of the programs.
I googled around and learned that this problem happens to all early/mid 2011 MBP and iMac models that use AMD 6750M engie (if I recall well).
When the system is on automatic graphic switching mode, whatever app you use that requires the graphic engine switch (VMWare Fusion, Photoshop, iPhoto, etc), causes the system screen to freezes.  The system although unstable, keep working as I am able to log into the system via SSH.  Trying to reboot via shell (sudo reboot) won't work as there is some frozen process preventing it, but system is alive.
You have to power cycle the MBP between 2 and 6 times to be able to get it to boot as most of them time it freezes during the boot process.
I want to know if there is an apple warranty to this problem ( I don't have apple care on this machine).  If not, what will be the cost of the logic board replacement and how is the procedure to get it done.  I live outside of the US and can send the machine if needed.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regrds.

  • How to use parameters of "AdminTask_MakeDim.dts" in BPC ?

    Hi everybody,
we try to generate or modify dimensions from the back-end and need to validate them. We are quite in the beginning of this task. Therefore we tried to use the supplied package "AdminTask_MakeDim.dts". In the user dialog that comes up, the system asks for "Input Dimension name" and "Input Source Table name". Regardless of what I type into these fields, the jobs finish without errors, but seems to do nothing.
Can somebody tell me what these user input parameters are for and how the system uses them ? Do I need to fully qualify the Input Source Table name ? The DM help is not very clear on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Wolfgang

Input Dimesnion please specify the dimesnion name
    while for input source table
First update the custom table and use custom table to update mbr table. then use mbr table as input source table
Also u need to update the excel sheet
