Dual Brush Setting

Hello
I'm going through some old custom brushes, and a lot of them have the 'dual brush' selection checked on in the 'brush' panel.
From what I understand, you have:
Your current brush peset
and then the 'dual brush' is ticked on, so basically there are 2 brushes overlapping eachother.
What I'm trying to do is turn off the 'current' brush, leaving only the 'dual brush' selected. I hope this makes sense.
At the very least, I'd like to try to find a way to identify what the dual brush's name is, and perhaps identify what .abr set it belongs to. I know that if you hover the cursor ontop of the dul brush thumbnail on the right hand side of the brush panel, that a tooltip will pop up, giving you its name. But this doesn't allow you to select that brush, and it doesn't tell you what .abr file it's from. I really need to find a way to actually select it. Without knowingwhat .abr file it's from, there seems to be no way to access that particular dual brush.
Anyone know if there's a way to find this out?

In CC 2014 if I highlight just Dual Brush (of a brush using two brush tips) in the list of brush features in the Brushes Panel, I can see the second brush, with a fine blue square round it, in the brush tip map.  If you then highlight the Brush Tip Shape title, with Dual Brush not selected, you can see the main brush in the brush tip map with a blue square round it..

  • Drag-resize doesn't resize dual brushes properly. CS4

It has come to my attention that the new drag-resize feature only changes the master diameter of the brush but leaves the dual-brush diameter intact. It is the only shortcut that does this resizing improperly.
I would like to know if everyone else experiences the same problem. Is it a bug or is this way of resizing intended?
I mainly do digital paintings and this small bug makes the feature useless for me. I hope that it will be fixed at least in cs5 :P

If you open the brush dialog, there is a dual brush setting on the left that can be enabled. If you click on it, the dual brush diameter is the first option that can be changed and it is in pixels not %. If you resize your brush size with bracket keys or right click and drag the slider, photoshop adjusts this setting automatically, but the new drag resize leaves this setting intact.

  • I can't tell if my previous messages came thru, but I need help with PSE 7.0. I can't use my drop shadow brush set anymore.

I am not sure if any of my previous messages went thru or not, but I have Photoshop Elements 7.0. I learned how to open a blank file and use a textbox to make my watermark and also my copyright logo and save them each as a brush. They were saved in the Drop Shadow Brushes. When I used my cloning stamp yesterday, I switched brushes to basic. When I later attempted to go back into the drop shadow brush set where I had saved the watermark and copyright logo, a message came up telling me the file couldnot be opened because it wasnot compatible with this version of Photoshop. I presume it is because of the special brushes saved there. What do I do now?

  • Print out brush sets

Anyone know of a way to print out a list of brush sets like you can print out a list of fonts? I am tired of having to go and look all over the place for the brush that I need.
    Thanks
    Jules

Thank you Greg, for pointing out the complete obvious! Sometimes the simplest way to do something is not always forefront in your mind until someone points it out!
Ed, I do know how to use the preset manager, but I really wanted a way of looking things up on paper. I keep a manual of printed out fonts to refer to and now I have a printed out set of brushes to refer to as well.
Thank you for both of your responses!

  • Dual brush question

Here's is my problem (CS6). I have created a number of dual brush presets. When I paint in Photoshop, the dual brush portion of the brush ALWAYS randomly rotates. How do I make the second brush (dual checkmark) on my preset NOT rotate when I paint. The original brush tip shape does not rotate. I just want the dual brush portion always be at one angle.
    Thanks!

I have tried everything you mentioned above but no fix. I tried it both on PC (windows 7) and Mac (10.8.5) platforms and in CS5/CS6. Has anyone else experienced this with dual brush? Does it always randomly rotate?
I wonder if it is a system limitation. Can someone try this out and let me know if it works on later version of Photoshop?
I've attached an example of the problem: The brush tip shape is the soft round. The dual brush is the star. As you can see the star rotates randomly. I just want the star to remain at an upright angle (or even at the direction of my pen tilt would be nice). Bottom line is I want to control the angle of the dual brush.

  • Custom Brush sets don't save to dropdown menu

Hey!  I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on saving brush sets.  I've recently upgraded from Elements 7 to PS CC and the way I saved brush sets in Elements doesn't seem to work in CC.
I can make and save a brush set fine.  I save it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\Presets\Brushes alongside the default "Assorted Brush" and all the others, and I can load them into an existing default set.
They never appear in the dropdown menu though.  I've tried saving through the preset manager and the dropdown menu and saving them over an existing brush set but it reverts to the old brush preset as soon as I changed between default sets.
On restart, they stay in the brush set if I load it before closing.
Can't get it to work no matter what I try.  What am I doing wrong? :S

Ah, that makes sense, coupled with the fact that the entire menu for external Speedlite control isn't available if no flash or a non-compatible flash is attached.
Here's Canon's response. Its a firmware bug after all, but hopefully can/will be fixed in the next firmware:
We appreciate your continued correspondence regarding your EOS 5D Mark III, EOS 7D, and Speedlite 580EX II.
Thank you for your response.  Tests were performed with the EOS 5D Mark III, EOS 7D, and the Speedlite 580EX II to duplicate the problem you are encountering.  Surprisingly, by following the settings you stated in the forum, we were able to duplicate the problem with our equipment too.  I have submitted a notification to our engineers who will look into the matter further and hopefully a future firmware update may be released to fix the problem.  I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance with your EOS 5D Mark III, EOS 7D, and Speedlite 580EX II.
    Thank you for choosing Canon.

  • Help on finding a brush set once installed using Adobe Exchange in Photoshop

    Hi,
I've installed brushes before  not with Adobe Exchange. I was in Photoshop and used the Extensions to download a brush set. This brush set was installed butto add it to Photoshop I can't find it. Anyone know where to gos  to add thisbruh set??

Thanks for the heads up RK.  I ended up removing them anyway, because they were not really up to scratch.  In fact I trawled through my long list of brush sets this afternoon, and did some house cleaning.  Removed all the dross, and renamed the sets with a meaningful first word or two, followed by enough info to identify the source.  They now list according to rough brush set type, and I removed...  [screws up face]  not that many [cringes with embarrassment] but you just never know.
Interestingly, I found a couple of identical brush sets with different names.  Plagiarism or innocently renamed according to source?
Speaking of embarrassment, I have more than once suggested to troubled Wacom tablet users to use the Wacom brushes to aid troubleshooting a nonresponsive pen Pressure issue.  I realised after my search today, that I have been completely confusing those people, and that those brushes are named Standard.  I can only hang my head in shame and put it down to a ‘can’t see wood for trees’ situation brought about by my OCD regarding brush sets.   And I thought I was being so methodical!
So if you are one of those people I have confused in the past, then my humblest apologies.
OK, I think I’ll move to Elements now.

  • Photoshop CS5 Dual brushes

It seems that Photoshop CS5 doesn't display the dual brush that is selected when you select a brush from the libraries. It indicates there should be a dual brush by a tick but no brush tip is selected.
Am I missing something or is this just a bug that needs sorting out still?
    Thanks

    SSprengel's right.
What kind of video card do you have?  It's always a good idea to check the web site of the maker of your video card to see if they have released updated drivers.
I run Photoshop CS5 across two 1600 x 1200 monitors, by the way, without problems.

  • CC created brush sets compatible with older versions?

Are brushes/sets created in CC compatible with CS and/or older versions of Illustrator +Photoshop please?

Most likely not except for the most rudimentary brushes. Too much stuff has changed in recent versions.

  • Dual Monitor Set-ups (opinions please)

So I'm finally ready to jump into the dual monitor set-up. Right now I'm using a single 19" widescreen monitor. I recently started doing more work with movies and it would be absolutely wonderful to have the movie on a separate monitor.
Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for moving to this type of set-up? I want to make sure I buy something that will do the job for a long time.
    Thanks in advance!

Hello Pal, Sorry for the late response... but this is what I use (Note: I have a laptop)

I believe this is exactly what you'd need (there is no additional software needed)
You just plug it in, both screens flash a light color blue for about 3 seconds and you're off.
The only downside is if you are used to using your hot corners, when the screens are split you have to move your move a whole other screen length.

    1) I use the shift register just to get the last data, i.e. the VISA resource name. Without the shift register, it is an array and it cannot be wire to the VISA close. This may looks stupid..so what about to avoid the For loop, as in this VI attached? The driver for the oscilloscope is available at  http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=485.
A tunnel coming out of a For loop will often default to an autoindexing tunnel and give you an array.  You can right click on that tunnel and select disable indexing to get a normal tunnel coming and not the array.  I'm not sure why the need for the For loop, unless you intentionally want to run this code exactly 180 times.
    2) I never modify the arrangement of VISA write and VISA read. It is given in the driver for the oscilloscope. So I assume that it is fine. Is this assumption correct?
I don't know.  I am used to serial port communication and not GPIB communication, so my reference basis is that where I am used to needing some sort of delay.  In a situation like that if you write then read too fast, there is nothing yet to read.  But by the time the loop gets around to the next iteration then there would be something in the read buffer but from the previous iteration.  I don't know if the mechanics behind GPIB are inherently different than serial.
    3) I already put another Tick Count to compare with. Is this what you mean?
    Exactly.
I tried to run and it stoped after the VISA close. Then I close the Labview and rerun this VI. The error occured at the VISA write during the first iteration. Then if I change a new GPIB address at the oscilloscope, MAX and the input for VISA session in the VI, then it can run with no error.   This is only annoying for this VI but it becomes a real problem when I combine all my sub VI together later.
    Thank you for your help..

  • Turning off angle jitter for dual brush in CS3

I'm trying to create a brush with the dual brush feature in Photoshop, but I can't get the result I'm looking for since Photoshop seems to force angle jitter for the 'secondary' brush chosen under dual brush. I can turn it on or off for the 'base' brush I choose, but there are no options for angle control under dual brush. Is there any way to get dual brush to not mess with the angle of the brush chosen, or is it simply hard coded to randomize the angle?
(Basically I'm looking to create a brush with a bristle pattern that only shows up at low brush pressure settings, but as I can't align the bristle stamp to the base brush stamp since it gets jittered, I can't seem to do this.)
    Any tips appreciated.

Oh, and just to be clear - this is a request for help/solutions

  • Dual monitor setting on PXI 8108

there is only one DVI port in PXI8108, how can I set up dual monitors?
    Best,
    Sam

    Hi samybae,
You should be able to use dual monitors because the controller uses DVI-I (single link) connectors. This allows you to break the signal out to a DVI as well as VGA connector using a splitter.

  • Extremely frustrated -- strange brush setting?

I just installed CS5 on my laptop and the brush tool seems to be on a   strange setting.  I can't figure out what it is.  In CS2, my brush   (say, a circle) will apply color to the exact outline of the brush.  For   instance, if I selected a 9px brush, I would see a 9px circle brush on   my document, and when I click, it would apply a 9px dot of color.
In  CS5, however, I see a much larger brush outline.  If I select a 9px   brush, I will see (guessing) a 20px circle which will apply a 9px dot  of  color.  At least, this is my impression of what is happening.
    I have tried:
Installing current update (original install was from a disc)
    Resetting tool presets
    Resetting default settings (all)
    HELP!!!

Your answer is probably this,  just a few posts down. Forum searches can be a great time saver.

  • Dual video set up???

I have an 867 mhz g4. How can I find out if I can set up xtra monitor (dual video)?

    Hi Trouts,
If it is the 32 mB card, it will support dual displays, but only mirroring (i.e. both show the same picture).
If it is the 64 mB card, then it is Twinview enabled and will support 2 independant displays.
    Cheers!
