Dual Core Center Fan Speed Control

Hi Everybody,
I have just bought a P35 Neo2 FR motherboard which is great but i have a question about the dual core center software.
I have installed the dual core center software and disabled 'CPU smart fan target' in the bios, but once i have set the CPU fan speed i can't save the settings as the button is greyed off.
Can anybody help me please..

Use speedfan and dump dualcorecenter !
It's infamous, lotta people having troubels with the  program.
Search around on this forum and seee how many complaints there are about the  program.
Including me.

  • NX7600GT Diamond Plus and fan speed with Dual Core Center

I just got a NX 7600GT Diamond Plus for my HTPC. I noted that Riva Tuner and other utilities are not able to control the fan speed of the video card. The only way one can control the fan speed is via Dual Core Center and 3D Core Cell. The problem is that the default setting for fan speed on Dual Core Center is too high and clearly audible. How can I get Dual Core Center to start with user defined presets during windows start-up/boot-up ?
What I want to do is to put the fan into 'SILENT' mode automatically during Dual Core Center start-up. Any ideas / suggestions ?

well no need to edit manually, MSI provided everythink in easy way from core center.
select advanced mode, create your custom profile pickup your desired settings,(setup maximum FAN RPM via buttons) and save it to custom profile.
suggest you to read help section from program.
So the custom profile is automatically loaded every time DualCoreCenter starts up ? Maybe there is something wrong with my install of DCC, I cannot get it to load custom profiles automatically upon startup. I can save the changes to say "User Profile 1" but the profile active on startup always is the "default" profile ...

  • Dual Core Center displaying wrong CPU clock speed

    Hi,
I've got the 965 Platinum board and I have overclocked my E6300 Allendale to 2.331ghz (from 1.86ghz).  My problem is that the MSI Dual Core Center is showing my CPU as being clocked at 2.997mhz.  It seems to think that, because I've upped the FSB to 333mhz, I must have a CPU with a multiplier of 9 instead of the 7 of the E6300.
If Dual Core Center is not reading the CPU clock correctly how can I trust that it's reading the temperature right (which is really the only reason Ihave it loaded at all).  I know the CPU is only set at 2.331 because the BIOS gets it right, System Properties gets it right and Intel's Thermal Analysis Tool gets it right.  It's only the Dual Core Center that gets it wrong.

Make sure you are using the newest version of DCC.
Other than that, DCC might not be the best tool to monitor your system.

To monitor core tempertatures use Coretemp: http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/
A very good program to monitor all kinds of stuff ist everst 3.5.

  • P6N platinum and Dual Core Center

    Hi,
When I attempt to use the Dual Core Center I get an error:
0xc0000005 Program failed to start, press OK to end.
I have updated the BIOS, Dual Core Center, Nvidea drivers, .NET framework etc no change.
Tech support told me that the Dual Core Cell chip on the board was bad so I got a second board without change.
I really don't care about the OC'ing features, I want to monitor temps and control fans.
I have tried Speedfan, it does not control the fans plugged to the mobo headers. Neither does Nvideas tool (Nview).
Infact nothing I have tried will control the fans.
    Suggestions?
(Aside from returning both boards and going with a different brand)

I think the program is horrible...don't waste your time with it.
If it works, good! It doesn't tend to fuss.
But if it doesn't work, uninstall it.
CoreTemp and Everest like Jack says are the best.
Fan speeds however your out of luck with. You can submit a report through Speedfan to the author however.

  • DualCoreCenter error - "Dual Core Center does not support!"

Hi, just bought the insanely expensive MSI 8800 GTX Ulta OC (£457), which seems to ship with insanely cheap utilities.
I installed the Dual Core Center (after installing the 'latest' nvidia driver 158.22).
During the install, it insisted on a net framework 2 repair/uninstall for some unknown reason (I have net framework 2 and 3 installed - ie all latest xp patches) with no prior problems.
Anyway, I let it do the repair and install itself.
Now when I run the DualCoreCentre, it comes up with error msg: "Dual Core Center does not support!"
Can someone shed light on what that means please.
    Thanks...

    It means:
    I suck, don't use me!
Stay away from MSI's utilities. If you want to overclock or control fan speeds or anything else.

  • New Dual Core Center "it rocks"

There is a new dual core center on MSI's 975x Power up page http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=746&kind=1
I have tested it quite a bit today .. it rocks...
    Everything works ...
It even recognizes my non-MSI Nvidia video card...
Just take the time to set up your separate profiles and save them, otherwise you will keep booting into MSI's default..
So set up your own profiles...
This is the first time that this application has ever worked properly for me ..
    and it is great ..
    Download it and enjoy...

  • Dual Core Center - not worth bothering with?

    Hi,
New to this forum so please bear with me!
Just installed a K9N Neo V3 and upgraded to latest BIOS.
Have installed latest version of Dual Core Center software and when I select the the Silent option withing a few seconds the window pops up and it starts playing a Siren sound like something is wrong. It reports the CPU FAN RPM as quite low - but then I have a Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 64 CPU cooler which controls the speed based on temp.
I cant find any instructions on how to use / configure Dual Core Center. How do you adjust warning levels?
Can you adjust the System Fan Speeds based on Temperature?
I tried uninstalling Dual Core Center and installing the latest version of SpeedFan 4.33 but that wont show any FANs at all on the main screen or config screen.
Are there any other software worth trying?
    Thanks In Advance

The two SYS FANS that I have installed.
Anyways I seem to have solved the problem - the two fans came with Molex adaptors etc so I just swapped the 12v & 5v connectors round and connected them to the PSU rather than the MB connectors.
Now the PC is ultra queit and still has two fans sucking warm air out - albeit only running at around 900RPM
OK... I'D Like to Understand, If those fans came with Molex Adaptors, How did you Connect them to the Mainboard in first Place?
Now this is How I modded 2 X 12mm FANS that were Molex and came along with my Case.
Chopped off a 3 Pin cable from Old Cpu Cooler That was not being used, Insert the 3 Pin Cable into one of the Fans Molex Adapter as an extension. Because the molex connectors on these fans are Usable via Male/Female, simply connect The 2nd Fan to the 1st one and hooked it up to My Fan Controller, now I have the Ability to control 2 fans on 1 Knob, and I Do Wick them both up to keep My System cool under Load. The Fan Controller is the reason I needed them on a 3 Pin, could easily use both fans on One 5V ZM-MC1 connector just the same.

  • P6N SLI V2 problem with "dual core center"

I have the P6N SLI  V2 with E4400 and 7600gt running XP pro sp 2.
after installing and running MSI's "dual core center" (including .Net framework) I only have the "VGA" option enabled, the "MB" option is disabled as well as the D.O.T option. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as downloading the latest version, but I have the same problem. I get no MB options at all (like no cpu temp, fan speed, core speed etc.). • Help! Dual Core Center

    Hi,
I just installed dual core center on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 but it won't allow me to change my CPU fan speed! The MB button is greyed out? How can I change the speed of my CPU like I could before when I used Windows XP and Core Center? My motherboard is the MSI K8N SLI Platinum.
    Thanks.

Which one? Please use the full model name of your board, not the MS-xxxx number.
    http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=searchresult&keywords=ms-7100
The full model is the MSI K8N SLI Platinum motherboard.
Ok, I have made some progress on this problem. I have removed Dual Core Center (like everyone says here, it is CRAP!) so now I have managed to get my fan to slow down via the BIOS by enabling the Smart Fan and setting it to 50C. Now my only problem is, I feel that the polling for the temperature is not done frequently enough. I estimated that the sensor only polls something like once every 2 min. It just feels like it's taking far too long for the fan to speed back up. Is there any other way to speed up the polling frequency for the temperature?

  • Dual Core Center runs with strange noises

    Hello
I just bought a new PC: MSI P45NEO-F (Motherboard) and GALAXY 9600GT (Graphic Card).
I installed Dual Core Center since it was provided as an utility software.
As soon as  Dual Core Center is running, strange noises come out from the speakers and they never stop until I close the application. I have to switched off the speaker because it is unbearable. Except the sound from the speakers, computers is working OK. Even Dual Core Center with this noise seems to work.
I am not an expert at all.
Does anyone had this problem or would know where it comes from ?
Computer seems to work OK when Dual Core center is not running.
    Thanks

    Hello
I just had another look at my problem and I noticed that one of the figure displayed in Dual Core Center was in red. It is the fan speed of system1 in the Fan Menu: the number in red was 995 RPM. As soon as the figure goes above 1000 (it does happen from time to time) the figure becomes green and the strange noise stops.
I have two fans in my computer: the CPU fans whose speed is around 1530 and the System1 fan whose speed is around 995 RPM. There are some setup in the BIOS regarding Fans but I guess everything is properly setup.
Anyway is there anything wrong with a fan system1 speed below 1000 ? Why would Dual Core center put the figure in red in that case and make a noise as a warning ?
    Thanks for your help/advices.

  • Dual core center vs. nTune vs. something else

I have a P6N 650i SLI board and it seems to me from reading various posts that Dual Core Center and nTune do much of the same thing.  True?  So, it seems kind of pointless to install both.  However, I'm not sure which is the better choice or even if either one is very good.  Any thoughts?  Should I use either one or do you have any suggestions for other programs I should use instead?  Thanks.

Whats wrong with installing both and trying them out? Currently the the P6N does not fully support ntune so your options are pretty limited to changing ram timings, and fsb.(though I prefer Bios) The voltage, fan speed, all the good stuff is greyed out. The Dualcorecenter is unstable and hard locks my computer sometimes for no real reason. It has a couple of settings you could play around with.. but I don't know why anyone would as all of the settings could be modified under the bios. Next time you should just try both out because besides being able to o/c the gfx card, bios trumps both of those wares.

  • [Solved] Asus L1366 mobo, cpu fan speed control

    Hi, everyone,
I finally have this new core i7 system, to replace my old AMD athlonx2.  I have one question about the CPU fan speed control.
I remember that in my old system, the cpu fan speed control works out of box, no configuration is needed.
But when I install arch 64 on this new i7 system, the cpu fan is running at its maximum speed constantly while the CPU temperature is modestly low. I know there is a wiki teaching how to do it.
However, I am just curious why it doens't work out of box any more? Does CPU fan control work for you guys out of box normally? especially the new Core i7 cpu users?
Please let me know, really appreciated it.
    Thanks a lot.
Update: the issue is solved, see my last post, the solution is blacklisting: asus_atk0110, instead use w83667hg.
    Cheers.

First off, it would be useful to know what the sensors-detect script actually reports.
Okay. How fan control works on Linux: First, navigate to /sys/class/hwmon
Each of these folders, i.e. hwmon0, stands for a sensors monitor / fan controller on your mainboard that may control one or several fans. Inside hwmonN, there should be a subfolder called device, which contains several interfaces if your BIOS allows software-side fan control. You can read them with cat and write to them with echo.
    Examples:
pwm1_enable shows if OS-level fan control is enabled (1) or disabled and in BIOS control (0). Changing fan speed won't work if this is disabled. (i.e. cat /sys/class/hwmon0/device/pwm1_enable reports 0 -> disabled; you could enable it with echo 1 > /sys/class/hwmon0/device/pwm1_enable).
pwm1 allows to change fan speed. The values range from 0 (fan off) to 255 (full speed, 12V).
fan1_input shows the current RPM if a fan is connected. You can only read from this interface. Its useful to check all of these in the each of the hwmon folders to find out if there is actually a fan connected to the fan controller (they often have more ports than mainboard manufacturers use).
There might be a fan1_div, this is somehow related to how the kernel reads the RPM, I don't know how it works.
temp1_input interfaces can appeare too, if some of the chips have temperature sensors located somewhere. I *think* lm_sensors places the core temperatures it reads from CPU (the coretemp-isa-000X thingies) in one of the hwmon-folders too.
There might be interfaces for different fans in the same hwmon folder, i.e. pwm2_enable, pwm2, fan2_input, etc., all interfaces with the same index belong to the same physical fan connector, and all in the same hwmonN are managed by the same IC on your mainboard.
Warning: These interfaces, if they work, control the fans directly without any kind of security measure. If you shut some essential fan down, it will stay off until you reboot your CPU shuts down.
(If you see something likein0_alarm, in0_input, in0_max, etc. it's a voltage monitoring chip.)
If one of those interfaces can do something, OS-level fan control does work, if none of those folders contain a working pwm interface, fan control seems to be unavailable.
Sometimes there is an option in the BIOS to enable it, and for some BIOSs software-side fan control only works if dynamic fan control is disabled in the BIOS and fan speed is set to a static value - or vice versa.
I don't know what you are using to control fan speed, there are many applications that use these interfaces, i.e. GNOME or KDE power managers, so I'm not sure what is happening:
    IF: Windows 7 enables OS-level fan control and sets it the RPM to those you observed and you have nothing that provides fan control in Arch and so fan control stays at BIOS-level, which might also read out a different sensor / the same sensor differently or it might be more conservative in setting fan speeds altogether;
OR: You have something that provides fan control installed in Arch and it reads out a the wrong value supplied by lm_sensors and thus sets a higher fan speed.
Anyway, possible solutions I can think of:
Find out if you have some kind of fan control software and what it does. For example, I use the fancontrol daemon, I can't help you if you use something else.
The wiki mentions how to assign a fan speed to a certain temperature sensors. You might assign it to a different one. For example, there are no sensor chips on the mainboard of my EEE (no temp1 etc.) so I assigned the fan speed to the temperature reported by the BIOS via ACPI (those are in /sys/class/thermal, also no "device" subfolder on EEEs):
    FCTEMPS=/sys/class/hwmon/hwmon0/pwm1=/sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp
You could also change the MINTEMP/MAXTEMP values to one higher than those you actually want to compensate for the effect of lm_sensors reporting temperatures that are too high.
It is currently not possible for a mortal user to change the coretemps lm_sensors reads, see this post, last paragraph.
There is a configuration file, /etc/sensors3.conf, you can change sensor names and adjust offsets here, but only for the monitoring chips and their sensors that are on the mainboard.
