  • Using dual display with DVD Player

I like to use the dual screen mode in my lectures using Keynote. Occasionally, I like to include a short DVD in my lectures. Is there a way to set DVD Player so that it plays in the dual screen mode so that I don't have to switch to the mirror screen mode?

Hi....I have a similar question regarding using DVD Player with an external monitor. I have my MPB connected to a Samsung monitor and everything seems to work well. I like to use my external monitor to watch DVDs in full screen mode, but I would like to be able to use my laptop's screen to browse the internet and type documents while keeping the DVD Player program in full screen mode on my Samsung monitor; however, whenever I click on my laptop screen while DVD Player is operating in full screen mode it exits full screen mode. Is there any way to keep DVD Player in full screen mode on my Samsung monitor while using my laptop's display for internet browsing, typing documents, etc...? Thanks for any help.

  • Stall or freeze on switching between dual displays

Sometimes when I click from one of my dual displays to another, my computer freezes. It only started happening recently. I pulled my video card out and put it back in one day, and ever since then it does this. Also, its not like the computer completely freezes. Anything that happens via internet (ie internet radio) does not stop playing.
Since this started happening, I have replaced my video card, cleaned the internals of my computer with compressed air, installed an extra fan, and reinstall the graphics utilities.
    My video card was a radeon 9600, now its a 9800 pro. Computer is a G4 2x1.25GHz, OSX 10.4.11

"when I click from one of my dual displays to another..."
I do not understand what that means.
Could you please describe, in excruciating detail, how to "click from one display to the other"?

  • Wacom tablet on dual display dual card setup...

...and the cards are as follows, one Geforce GTX 460 (nvidia driver), one Radeon x1650 (radeon driver) As such, I have to use Xinerama and not RandR for my dual display setup. I have configured the driver to use my main display (Dell CRT on GTX 460) and the cursor shows up where it's supposed to, but when I draw, the cursor "splits" into two, the actual cursor, and the drawing cursor. The regular cursor moves as if it's on my main display, but the drawing cursor spans both desktops.
I've tried all kinds of things to make it work, no luck though.

MisterAnderson wrote:Honestly no clue how to help you, but I am interested in your setup. Are you using the proprietary drivers for your nvidia card and the opensource radeon for your ati? How did you get this setup working? I've been trying for ages!
If I remember correctly, I just used --nodeps and maybe --force when installing the nvidia driver, that way it didn't force me to uninstall the radeon driver when I install the nvidia driver. Then, look at my xorg.conf. there's no acceleration of any sort on the ati card, but I can use it for terminals and browser windows, text editors and the like. Can't watch flash videos on it though, and I don't think mplayer works on it either, I'm not at my arch box atm, so I can't verify that.
Also, as mentioned in my opening post, no composting either. The same setup works pretty good in Ubuntu with a similar config, but no compositing there either, Unity clones 1680x1050 of my main 2048x1536 display, can't split the desktops, and I just end up using Xfce4 because it handles Xinerma pretty well.. I have to turn off the compositing extension in the config on arch to get X to even start up.
    :edit:
back in arch, should note that whenever I install a new package, I receive this warning. Everything still works tghough as I describes. And back on topic, anyone have any clue as to why my tablet behaves this way?

I am currently running a mac mini mid 2011. As I've understood (according to the below statement). Am I only able to use 2 secreen with 1920x1200 or could I use one screen with 2560x1600 and one with 1920x1200. I do NOT want mirroring, only dual displays.

    1x mini-dvi - HDMI to one screen.
1x HDMI - HDMI to the other screen.

According to the copy&paste from wikipedia, HDMI should support higher resolution than 1920x1200. So the question is, does it aupport that on the mid 2011 mac mini. It says in the specifications
"Mac mini is designed to work with HDMI devices that comply with versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2a, 1.3, 1.3a, and 1.4 of the HDMI specification."
That should mean it should be able to support it, but I don't know : <

  • How do I use dual displays to have a full screen app on one monitor and another full screen app or the desktop on the other?

How do I use dual displays to have a full screen app on one monitor and another full screen app or the desktop on the other?
I want to have my itunes visualizer on my TV which is connected via HDMI adapter, and still have access to full screen itunes and my desktop on the main display.
Any suggestions?  App downloads that can do this?  Please let me know.

You can't do it.  This has been an issue since Lion.

  • Dual display color and other related issues...

I have posted this on painter forums, though some of the issues coming together here are directly related to issues w/ Snow Leopard and dual displays. Thought I would try here....
This is so bizarre. When I ever I run P11(I think this is going on in P10 too?) w/ the OS X (snow leopard, 10.6.2 on quad core Intel Xeon Mac Pro, 10 GB of RAM) menu bar on my Eizo(making it the main display), and the Apple Cinema display left as the #2 monitor, I get very annoying brush cursor artifcats left randomly on the Eizo screen after strokes. One cannot predict when the cursor will leave it's gray "marks", but it will do it, sometimes 5 strokes in a row, sometimes after 15 strokes or so? If I move my brush back over them, or change the image percantage view, they vanish, obviously new ones coming back, as I work.
However I put the OS menu bar on the AC display, yet work back on the Eizo, this does NOT happen. No cursor artifacts. Well, at least I can summon the issue
The reason I am doing this is Snow Leopard has bad color issues w/ dual displays (well documented, much to Photoshop CS4 users frustrations, and mine). Apple needs to fix it... but for me to see the right color on the Eizo(this is my main color and superior display), it needs to be the main monitor(menu bar) in 10.6.2.
So, you can see my trap - Accurate color, or annoying cursor artifacts left on the screen (sorry, it really bugs me as I work) as I work in Painter.
Attempted fixes: Trashed all of Painter's prefs, all of Wacom's Intuos 4(latest driver) prefs and software, switched plug ins on the back of the mac for the displays(lots of restarts), ran cache cleaning Cocktail and DiskWarrior, etc. -- no change, as I can duplicate the issue w/ the above set up. A sidebar or maybe be very related note: I have an iMac w/ max amount of ram (model not very old -- maybe 1 or 2 old) and I have had a long standing issue working on the iMacs we have had w/ this brush cursor artifact problem (in Leopard and Snow Leopard). I am on one monitor w/ the iMac, so you know here the menu bar is...hmmmmmmmm.....?
    Thanks!, T

  • Possible to do dual display with a mini?

I have an early 2008 Mac mini (Intel) - with the standard DVI connector; using the supplied DVI/VGA adapter to connect to an LCD monitor.
I'm just wondering if it is possible to use two displays with this model and if so, how do I connect the second monitor?

Several ways of doing it in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8335705&#8335705
If you want to go the usb route, see also:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/VIDU2DVIA/
Be sure to examine the limitations of each method.
(I'd also consider that your 2008 Mini likely has substantial resale value and that you might prefer getting a 2009 Mini which natively supports dual displays.)

  • Dual Display on Mac Mini

    Hi there,
I want to have a dual display setup with my Mac Mini. There's also a twist. One of the displays is a regular monitor. The other display is a 46" TV. I am not too technically minded - is there a splitter or some kind of dual display "kit" I can pick up?
    Thanks!

Which Mac mini? The new one has two video outputs on it, so two displays is not a problem.

  • Dual Displays and Windows XP

    Hello,
I have a MBP with the Radeon X1600 graphics card. Under OS X I can run dual displays without a problem, either extended or mirrored. Using Bootcamp to boot to Win XP, I can only get the 2nd monitor to run extended, I can't get it to run mirrored. What really drives me nuts (short trip) is that I have run it in mirrored mode before when I teach. I go to the Display dialog box and "see" both monitors, but the only way I can get anything now on the 2nd is to run extended? I could update Radeon driver on the Windows side, but I thought BootCamp took care of that and I don't want to mess up my laptop?

It is definitely best to reinstall anytime you make a major system change. You will have to do at least a windows repair although I am not sure if it will fully enable the dual core.
    Good Luck
    Jeremy

  • OS X Server Wiki pages do not display in Internet Explorer 9

I recently did a clean instalof OS X Server 10.8.2 on my Mac Mini using the recently released version 2.2 (build 166) of the Server App.  Today - after enabling the Wiki - I noticed that the body of the Wiki pages no longer display on Internet Explorer 9 - only the Please Login banner displays.  The Wiki Page body shows only as a squashed down blank rectangular box near the top of the screen.  This happens on all of the PC's that I have tried - both internal and external.
There were a number of Wiki Enhancements listed in the release notes for Version 2.2 of the Server App.  These enhancement appear to have made it impossible to acess the Wiki using Internet Explorer.
The Wiki pages are fine using Safari (Mac or Windows) - Firefox (Mac or Windows) and Chrome (Mac or Windows).  The problem is only with IE 9.
Out of curiosity - I restored an image of my server from last week - prior to the Server App 2.2 udpate - and Wiki (from version 2.1.x) pages work fine in Internet Explorer 9.  (At this point I'm not sure if it is just IE 9 - or other versions of IE.
Additionally - if I disable the Wiki - and just enable the default website - the default website displays fine in IE 9 - but as soon as I click on "change password" at the bottom of the page - the Enter Old and New Password window - also does not display - similar rectangular box - with just Change Password text in it.
So the problem is not just with the Wiki.  Unfortunately I do not have any websites set up yet to test with.
Here is what I see (in IE 9) on the main Wiki page as of version 2.2 of the server app:
Is anyone else experiencing this?  I will probably open a support issue - because my brand new Mac Mini is covered under AppleCare.

  • Dual Display - help with Cinema Display for MacBook Pro where MB won't detect displays.

I just got a Cinema Display (a1081 20") ("CD") off eBay to use as a dual screen with my Macbook Pro OS X 10.6.8 ("MB"). However, I can't get MB to recognize CD! I've tried power cycling both the MB and the CD with and without USB cord connected. MB won't recognize CD display in any situation. However, it is recognized in some capacity although I can't use dual display because the CD power button triggers MB to ask me if I want to restart, shutdown, or cancel.
    Any help is appreciated!!

Have you tried smc and pram resets?
Try Detect Displays in the Displays preference pane.
Does the Displays preference pane Arrangement show two screens?  If so do click gather windows and check the resolution setting of the new screen.

  • Dual Display, 2 Monitors - Extended Desktop

    Hello Everyone:
There isn't a clear cut answer or solution in connected a Macbook Air to 2 external monitors in an attempt to create an extended desktop. I have read older posts that it's either doable or not doable. My questions are the following:
-Is it possible to connect a new Macbook Air to 2 external monitors for extended desktop purposes?
-Some users have reported lag issues (mouse dragging , delays, etc.). Will this happen for sure with a Macbook Air or is it a monitor issue?
-What's the best non-Apple monitor brand that would work best with a Macbook Air for dual display purposes? I've read that Dells have a problem in this regard.
-What would be the advantage or disadvantage of using a dock station in setting up a dual display environment? Would this add to the lag, latency factor?
I'm thinking of investing in a new Macbook Air, but I want to make sure I dont end up with silly issues - such as latency, monitors, etc.
Thank you for all your help and advise.
    Best,
    G.

Yes, extended desktop works with monitors set to differant resoultions. the Monitors pref pane allows you to select relative arrangements and rez of all monitors composing the extended desktop.
    personally I run a dell CRT at 2304 X 1728 @ 60Hz along with an NEC 6FG a 2048 X 1280 @ 60Hz off a radeon 9800pro on an MDD.

  • Mac mini dual display - blue screen flashes frequently

I recently purchased a mac mini i7 model, with fusion drive.
I have upgraded the RAM to 16GB.
I have also purchased 2 monitors, both are LG 22EA63V LED.
I connected one monitor direct HDMI to HDMI.
The other monitor is connected from Thunderbolt to HDMI.
Everything worked amazingly well for the first few weeks. Now, not so much....
I frequently have the screen freeze and flash blue, and then resume as normal dual display mode.
Other times the screen will flash blue and then come back as a single display. In this case the Thunderbolt to HDMI display appears as primary display, while the HDMI display loses connection.
If I unplug the HDMI display completely, the blue screen flashing does not happen at all.
So, what could be causing this problem, and how do i fix it?

    Hi Matt,
See if there's some setting on the HDMI monitor for Input Source, or things like Auto-tune.
