Dual Display using ADC

Hi. I have PowerMac G5, 1.8GHZ with CRT display and NVDA, Display-A. The PCI card has two output, DVI-I and ADC. DVI-I is connected to SONY display and functioning fine. I want to add another display using ADC. I bought ADC-DVI connector from the apple store (Dr Bott ADC DVI exctractor II). I also bought apple's DVI to video adaptor. Using these, I'm trying to make video display on the NTSC monitor.
ADC-DVI-RCA
It doesn't display. Could anyone tell me why it doesn't work?

Greetings,
The ADC-DVI cable only works with LCD monitor, not with CRT. Swap your connection of monitors the other way round and this should work.

  • Dual Display using "Presenter View" as in MS PowerPoint

I have a T410 type 2522-A92 and want to present slides on a projector screen while on my laptop monitor I can see the slide and my notes.   I have so fare been unsuccessful in doing this.  Is my laptop model not equiped for this task and if so, is there any way I can put this right.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Kappelmeister,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that you had trouble using extended display in your Lenovo ThinkPad T410.
For using PowerPoint in Presenter Mode, the extended desktop feature must be enabled for this mode to function. Press FN+F7 to switch to extended display mode.
In PowerPoint, go to the Slideshow menu and click "Set up show”.
Click on the Presenter Mode or Show Presenter View.
After doing this and starting the slide show, the slide will appear on the second monitor (the projection screen) and the laptop screen can be used to access something in private.
Refer here for further information on how to configure PowerPoint to use presenter view with two monitors.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • Hyperlinks in Dual Display mode, Keynote '09.

This problem has been well reported in this forum, but I cannot find an answer.
I have created a series of Keynote '09 presentations and I have installed hyperlinks on the last slide of each one to open, on clicking, the subsequent presentation.
Trouble is in Dual Display (not mirrored) mode using a projector as Secondary Display and a MacBook as Primary Display (with next slide, presenter notes, timers, and other items that only I, as presenter, can see. Then I cannot activate the hyperlinks; in fact the icon of small blue circle and white arrow is not showing in this mode and the pointer does not change to finger.
However if I press X or use "Swap" from drop-down menu I can see the view of slide that the audience normally sees and the hyperlink is shown and active. I click on it and once the subsequent Keynote opens, I can press X again and return to Presenter View on MB, but this is messy and the audience gets to see the "workings". Not a good look.
Interestingly, the same disappearance of hyperlinks also occurs if I use Rehearse Slideshow, but not if I use Play Slideshow when MB is not hooked to external display. This seems to suggest thst these hyperlinks are not there in "Presenter" view.

I found I had the same problem at my let presentation: Hyperlinks do not work in dual display using the MacBook at primary display. I gave up and put the presentation on my iPad and everything worked fine. Think I will just mirror the display of my MacBook so I can use the hyperlinks.

You can't do it.  This has been an issue since Lion.

  • Dual Displays Getting Used To Mouse Settings

Just started using Dual Displays for Final Cut. Was wondering if anyone had some tips for maximizing mouse settings? Its taking some time getting used to.

Hi BD hope u had a nice Holiday.
I realized I needed to switch the DVI connectors, or switch the displays in order to get the cursor to go from left to right. It was a breeze.
I still can't believe Chris is gone. I'll have to email him and see how he's doing.

  • Setting Photoshop monitor profiles when using dual displays?

I'm using a Macbook Pro connected to an Apple Cinema Display under OS 10.5.8. Both monitors are calibrated and I export from Lightroom to Photoshop in ProPhoto. The Photoshop working colour space is also ProPhoto so there is no mismatch there.
When in dual display mode I like to have my Photoshop application on the Macbook screen and the photo I'm working on shown on the Cinema Display. In fact, I couldn't work any other way because the laptop's screen is not at all suitable for precision work.
I noticed that when I send an image from Lightroom to Photoshop CS4 for further editing the colours were off in Photoshop. This lead me to check the monitor profile used by Photoshop and I saw it was using the Macbook Pro .icc profile. This seems to be used even if the image is displayed in the external display. Selecting the Cinema Display as "default" in ColorSync doesn't change the situation. As a result, the colours as displayed by Photoshop are incorrect.
The only "solution" I have found is to either go to System Preferences > Displays  and select the external monitor as the principal one (which is inconvenient because it negates many of the advantages of using dual monitors) or setting the Cinema Display's .icc profile for the Macbook Pro as well (which makes it the one chosen by Photoshop but means I'm only working wiht one correctly calibrated monitor).
Is there a solution to this problem? Ideally I want to have both my monitors calibrated and Photoshop detect which one I'm using to view my photo. Failing that, I would like to have both monitors calibrated and "tell" Photoshop to use the Cinema Display as the principal monitor.I don't want .
    Many thanks!

    Thanks for your reply!
I'm not too worried about 10.6 because I'm not using it ( I reverted to 10.5.8 precisely because of the colour issues).
I don't really understand your reply. My problem is that if Photoshop uses my Mabook Pro profile as the "monitor profile" my pictures - as displayed on the Cinema Display - look different in Lightroom and in Photoshop. It's as if Lightroom is "aware" of which of the two displays is being used whereas Photoshop can only deal with one at a time. I would like to know if this analysis is correct and what I can do so that Photoshop displays my photographs the same way as Lightroom does on each of my two displays.

  • Use laptop display for dual display

I'm working on a G5 w/ artisan monitor and want some extra screen real estate. I have a G4 power book and wondered if I can somehow use the screen on the laptop as a dual display for the G5? Both run OSX tiger.

    Hi Virginia,
    Welcome to the discussions.
As far as I am aware, the graphics cards on the powerbooks enable you to run a second display from the laptop, but only as a "mirrored" (i.e. identical picture) of the main display on the laptop. For extra screen real estate, you need fully independant operation, and that can't happen.
Also, I don't think you can use the screen off the laptop as a "passive" display, as there is no practical way of supplying the correct video input to your laptop display from the second graphics port of the G5.
For these two reasons, I believe that what you are considering will not be possible.
    Cheers!

  • Using Dual Displays G5 Dual Core 7800GT

    Hi Gang
    Happy Thanksgiving.
I'm editing strickly in SD with an older G5 Dual Core 2.0 - 14GB RAM and nVidia GeForce 7800GT 256MB Dual Port DVI Graphics Card. Most Final Cut editors  utiliize dual displays. That being said, wondering if I'd be better off with a PCIe nVidia Quadro FX4500 512MB. I believe my friends Chris & BD here on the forum, may prefer the speed of the nVidia Quadro FX4500. I'm also trying to avoid bogging down the system.
    Thank you
    Mike

    Hello Diesel
Don't think we've connected before. And please don't be offended, I'm a 65 year old Mac user who highly regarded Chris's expertise. He was a bit older than most here, and his experience was impeccable. In my qualified opinion, I've been witness here to countless examples of concieted bloatness and inaccuracy. More so on the FCP forum. In fact, sometimes, despite the higher star rating of a responder, I'll eventually solve my own problem contrary to a short rude incorrect reply, (as though they may appear higher than mighty). But of course this is typical of any forum.
In short, I've found the answer many times lies in different respones from different people. You just have to search.
Getting back to my ole friend Chris, I'm gonna guess he finally got peturbed with all the 'Arm Chair Quarterbacks', (more now than ever).
In any event, here's Chris's well researched list, and I see the X1900 is listed as weaker than the 4500.

I think the answer is that the FULL SIZED nVidia card, (two slots - 512MB), could be more powerful thus preventing a slow down when using two displays.

The other advantage with nVidia, (as taught by Chris), is that XTI cards do not have temperature sensors. I use Temp Sensor all the time.

  • Using dual displays

    Hello,
I currently have a MacBook Pro with a 19" LCD connected in dual display mode.
What I would like to be able to do is play DVD's on the MacBook Pro screen while "working" on the 19" screen. However, whenever I put a DVD in, I lose the desktop immediately and the movie will only play on the 19" screen. The Macbook Pro screen goes black.
Just wondering what settings I need to change in the system preferences to make this work the way I want it.
    Thanks !!
    Kallum

Additionally you will need to turn off the "Dim other displays while playing" preference.

  • Does 10.5.6 Support Dual displays for Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition cards?

Does 10.5.6 Support Dual displays for Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition cards?
And is there driver updates for anyone using the all-in-ones HP printers...has anyone been able to use their scanners since the update? and has the dual screen support been added to avoid the blue screen on startup?

The ATI Radeon 9600 PC/Mac edition 256 MB should work in the MDD G4. It has two DVI ports (one is dual-link and can support a 30" display). You will need adapters for ADC displays.

  • G4 Extended Desktop via 'dual display'

My G4 has two outputs from the Nvidia Card, a standard vga and the
'rounded edge' style AppleDisplay output. Two part question here:
    1) may I simply use an appledisplay connector-to-vga converter dongle,
in order to send through that second output to a standard vga (non apple)
    monitor?
    2) Would using these outputs simultaniously render the 'extended desktop',
or are they just a duplicate of the same output?
Thank you kindly for any info on this.

It depends on which NVIDIA card you have. Anything older then the GeForce4 MX won't run two VGA displays. The GeForce2 MX TwinView can run two displays, but the ADC to VGA adapter won't work with this card, so only one can be VGA.
If your card does support dual displays, you can choose mirrored or extended desktop in the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference.

  • I have Two Monitors how do i enable dual display

I have two monitors hooked up to my G4 and they are displaying the same thing how do i enable dual display where i can pan between them? Thanks for your help I am using Os 10.3.9

    Hi
I'm fairly certain your graphics card doesn't support it. As far as I'm aware, Apple only introduced Macs with stock graphics cards capable of supporting dual displays (spanned) when they released the QuickSilver model. The cards in earlier G4s (Gigabit Ethernet, Digital Audio) had multiple connectors so you could connect either an Apple ADC display or third party VGA display, but I believe they only mirror each other.
If you needed to support two independent displays at the time, I guess you went for one of the built to order graphics card options, or bought a second (PCI) graphics card.

  • Dual Displays on PowerMac PPC dual 1.8ghz

    Hello Mac users,
I have been trying to set my PowerMac PPC G5(vintage 2004) for dual displays.
I have two Apple cinema displays, either one will connect to the back of my computer via the ADC. The connector in the computer is an 18 pin (with funny jumper) female receptacle. It follows that the ADC on the display is 18 pin (with funny jumper) male connector. One of my monitors is brand new.
I am using a Radeon X800XTC card that has one ADC (female receptacle) and one DVI connector (also female).
Is this possible?? I did order what Apple told me would work, the DVI to ADC adapter, model M8661LL/B. I could not use this item on my system, as it comes with the exact opposite sex for the connectors! Also the Belkin adapter is the wrong sex as well.
Any ideas on how to connect two displays to this video card?? It is an AGP version.
    Thanks,
    eholz1

    Hello Guys,
Thanks for the info on this. I did figure out what MY problem was. Due to the info you gave me,
I took another GOOD look at my computer, to see who was connected to where!
The displays I have use the DVI port on the video card. I took a good look at the other port on the computer (dummy that I am!). This is the empty port, which HAPPENS TO BE THE ADC (Apple Display Connector)! So I have finally awakened! I do have the correct cable to go from the ADC to the DVI.
So, now all is well, but I do feel pretty stupid confusing the DVI connector for the ADC. I assumed that the connector in the monitors was ADC, and denying the fact that they did not have 30 pins, etc!
    Thanks for the help.

  • GeForce FX 5200/dual display

    Hello yall,
quick qestion, does GeForce FX 5200 support dual display config.
if so, why are there two different ports on the back instead of the
    same?
    many tnx.

    First:
Plug in each of your HP displays to make sure they work in the DVI Port. This will rule out those.
    Second:
If you still have the ADC display, try plugging that back in w and w/o the DVI display.
    Third:
If the monitors work in the above, then see about using your adapter on another computer. It seems as if it may be faulty.
    What brand/model is it?
