Dual function phone on Infinity

Hello
I am looking into going to Infinity from normal BT Broadband and the person I spoke to on the phone suddenly said they saw I had an internet phone and it wouldn't work on Infinity.
What I have is a GE Digital Cordless phone that supports landline calls and Skype.
It is connected by 2 cables, one to the phone line another to an Ethernet socket on my BT Homehub2.
Is it right this won't work on Infinity?
I can't understand why it wouldn't.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

What they are talking about is that your hub phone, if you have one, will not work with the new home hub 3 which is used on Infinity.
There is a way around this, provided you keep your existing home hub as well.
Do you use Broadband Talk?

  • Concern regarding quality of dual sim phones

Can we have nokia build phones similar to asha 300 or Nokia X3-02 with dual sim option and i am sure we can expect a lot more market for nokia in India.
We still have a big lot of consumers who prefer normal keypad kind of phones with dual sim option, just that the quality has to be to the mark, when i did a review on the types of dual sim phones, its really sad to see nokia producing low quality phones with dual sim options, i agree the target is to reach economy class but if we have atleast 1 new model with featuers and quality as that of nokia 300 or x3-02,,, much appreciated.

    Prem

Verizon will only activate Verizon-branded phones on its network.  Any Verizon phone will be compatible with the 3G CDMA network, but may also have radios for 4G LTE and/or various GSM bands (with a SIM card slot - Verizon calls these global phones) depending on the particular phone.
If you want a phone to use with Verizon and in another country, you'd need to buy one of Verizon's global models and have it unlocked to work with the SIM card from the other provider.  You'd also want to carefully check that the phone's GSM radio supports the frequencies that the other company uses.

  • DUAL SIM PHONE OPTIONS

I need to get a dual sim phone so that i can have my own personal mobile sim in it and my work mobile sim in too
However, I need the option to be able to USE ONE SIM ONLY , so that I can 'turn off' my work mobile when I am not working.
I was looking at something like the Asha 202 or C2-00. However, having downloaded their user manuals, it would suggest you cannot do this (And only have the option of selecting which sim will be used for outgoing calls/texts).
Another dual sim phone , the Nokia 101 according to its user guide has the facility to USE ONE SIM ONLY. However, that is a very basic phone and has no camera.
So, my question is, is the USE ONE SIM ONLY available on the 202 & C2-00 and is just omitted from the user guide, or is it really not available ?
    Thanks

AFAIK it allows simultaneous Dual SIM Support with preferred SIM selection for Making Calls and Data. Asha 200 allows hot swap of SIM 2 via side slot whilst SIM 1 is placed underneath battery.

  • Dual-sim phone suggestions for my mom

I am looking for a non-touch Nokia phone for my mother. She requests a phone that supports dual-sim so she can use it for both personal and work calls. I have read around a bit, and there's this term called dual-sim standby, and as far as I understand, it seems it is about dual-sim phones having to change from one to another when you want to use it for other than calling, like for example browsing or writing messages. And to not give her this confussion, I rather suggest a phone that doesn't need to be controlled whether using sim A or B.
So I am here to ask if you guys could suggest a Nokia phone that supports dual-sim with no dual-sim standby? Thanks in regards!
PS: I found some phones that supported dual-sim, but it seemed like the phone needed to be a dual-sim model before having the feature. So is it true, that when you find a phone mode it does not necessarily have dual sim capabilities?

I still feel that phone such as X1-01 being able to keep work and personal calls separate and see on what side call is coming in would be very useful to her; an added benfit is good battery life on this model.

  • Dual Function Button

I have a series of panels that slide into position when selected.  I have a button on each panel with an arrow pointing to the right indicating a transition to the open state.  I have created the interaction that when clicked 'we' move from the "Home" page/state to "Card#1" page/state.  Now I want to spin the button 180 degrees so it is now pointing left (the closed/home page/state) and on click I now want the functionality to reverse and move the card back to the "Home" page/state from "Card#1" page/state.  Because I do not know how to add the dual functionality I need help.  I can conceive of two solutions:
1 - create a second button that is identical to the first and on the transition replace the first "Open" button with the second which will have the interactions to "Close" the "Card#1" page/state returning to the "Home" page/state.  But this just adds overhead and more graphics to an already graphically intense project.
2 - figure out how to somehow trigger a change in functionality, based on the current page/state and just use the one button.  Something like...
              If page/state = "Home"
                   Button Interaction = transition to "Card#1" page/state
              else
Button Interaction = transition to "Home" page/state
Can anyone offer some advice on what my best approach might be?

I figured this out.  Using the "When in State" functionality while defining the button interaction did the trick.

  • I have a nokia dual sims phone, with a rogers card...

i live in ny, but when i went to canada it says no service, and in the states its saying no service....what am i doing wrong... i couldn't even put minutes on in in montreal, with a voucher. i was suppose to get free minutes with the card, but that never happened either....i go to networking and they can't find one..i have a canadian phone number and address on the phone, so i should have been able to use it in montreal.

Can I ask what model is the phone and where was it purchased?
My first guess is that it's a non-US model
The US & Canada is on 1900 & 850 GSM bands, whereas India (where most Nokia dual SIM phones are sold) is 900 & 1800.
Therefore it might be that the handset is not configurated for North America.

  • Dual Sim Phone

I currently have 2 sim cards - one on o2 uk pay as you go and one on vodafone uk pay monthly. Is there a phone that will let me use both sim cards at time (e.g. line 1, line 2 etc) or do I need to have a special sim card with the 2 networks on it? If I need just the one sim card, which operator do I go to?

A phone cannot connect to two networks at the same time, it's not possible. One of the networks will always be offline and you will have to switch between them.
No nokia models can accept two sim cards at the same, you have to use an adaptor. You can find these adaptors on ebay for many models. It's not possible to have two networks on one sim card.
The only true dual sim phone in the world is made by samsung and it's not available in the UK.

    Hi Robwoo,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting. Broadband Talk isn't compatible with the Infinity service but I'll find out if you can still use the handset for landline calls and get back to you.
    Cheers

  • Reporting Phone Fault - Infinity Customer

    Hi,
I have been a BT phone customer for 20 years and in December 2014 I upgraded to also include BT fibre broadband. So I now have BT Phone and BT Infinity.
Today, I noticed that my telephone line was very noisy. So, I tried to test my telephone line using BT’s automated line testing feature from the website. However, I soon realised that this feature is only for copper line customers. Then I rang BT to report the fault today at 14:55. To my surprise I was told that there is no one available in the relevant department to help me and that someone will have to contact me back tomorrow. I am concerned by my experience today. I am wondering whether there is an alternative process for Infinity customers to diagnose/report telephone related problems.

Thanks. I have FTTP (there is no FTTC option for my area).
Its interesting that there is a noise issue. Have you tried a different phone?
I guess there is no way to restart the voice adapter part, just in case its somehow out of synch, and giving a high bit error rate?
Do you have any extension wiring that may be causing the issue?
I assume you have Fibre Voice Access, and not copper for your phone connection? If so, there would be a fibre voice adapter.

  • Outlook syncs to Z3 Dual but phone not to Outlook

    Hi there,
I have a problem syncing my Z3 Duals calender to Outlook 2013. The other way round, from Outlook to the phone is working fine. But calender entries made on the phone are not synced back. Even when I use the option "overwrite computer calender entries".
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

How are you syncing the Outlook data to the phone?

  • Microsoft dual SIM phone network issues

Hi - I recently bought Microsoft 535 dual SIM. I have two SIM's in the phone. Till now I have been unsuccessful in getting both SIM's work together. If one SIM has network the other SIM wouldn't. The way I get a particular SIM to get network connection is
by selecting it as the SIM for data connection in mobile+SIM settings. While the other SIM shows "active" it says no network available. The moment I switch the selection in "SIM for data connection" to the 2nd SIM it gains network connection
and the 1st one goes to "no network found" status!!!
Appreciate any help on this. thanks for your time and attention.
    Prasad

After writing the post above I did another experiment with the phone.
Took it apart to see if I can notice something obvious on the PCB - noting there - all is firmly attached and well soldered.  Used a magnifying glass with high magnification to verify that there are no cracks in the solder where RJ-45 jack attaches
the to the PCB.  Put it back together - plugged in the network cable.  Phone boots, asks me to sign in - as I start the process and begin handling the phone I get disconnected from the network.
The error message that the phone shows:
"The Network cable was not detected. Please check that your cable is connected to the network port and that you have a network connection."
In this state the lights on the network port are off - they are not blinking.  So the PoE is delivered but the interface is down.  Looking at the port status on the switch shows that  PoE is "delivering" but the link status is "down".
All you have to do is firmly press the network cable back into the phone and it starts working.  Go figure what's at play.

  • I lost my iPhone 4, but have an old iPhone 3G. Can I activate the 3G so that it is my functional phone?

The old phone only says "No Service" where there should be the bars or carrier. How can I activate it so that the iPhone 4 is not linked to my number anymore, and the 3G IS linked?

Can you locate it using Find my iPhone? Just go to icloud.com
Call up AT&T and explained what happened. Ask them to disable the current iphone4 sim, and enable your old 3G sim in their system.
