Dual G5 2 GHz, random freezing for about one year now...
Hi Everybody
I own a Dual G5 2 GHz for about three years now. I used to work perfectly until about one year ago.
Then, presumably, an external FireWire harddisk blew the Logic Board. I had to have it replaced for a lot of money (because the G5 was out of warranty already). Since that point in time, the machine randomly freezes from time to time. And it is getting worse.
I tried a lot already, I think: RAM, USB peripherials (Mouse, Keyboard), removed all external things (but wireless, mouse, keyboard and screen), different screen, different keyboard... I had it turned in to different apple repair-centres twice and got it back with "no problem found" (although it froze in one case as well!).
Apple Hardware-Test runs fine. It gave an error that pointed to the Logic-Board or processor (according to Apple customer care) once, but this is not reproducible...
I am at a loss. What else can I do? By the way: the most "promising" thing to create the freeze (although there is no "definitive" way to do so) is to browse iTunes-Shop/Podcasts.
I would be very grateful for any hint/option. Thinking about Firmware update right now, but first have to check what verison I already have to see if there is a newer one.

Mozilla recently released Firefox 2.0, you may want
to give that a try.
I was thinking about that too. I might do this, if no crashes occur as long as I only use Safari (I can live with that for a week, np).
It's possible that there may be something else
running in the background (another application that
you installed perhaps) that could be causing the lock
up. Take a look at Activity Monitor
(/Applications/Utilities)
I'll have a look, but I don't think (hope?) there is something I missed...
Something else to look at would be to do a fresh
install (even if it's using an external FW drive),
reinstall your software 1 by 1 and see if it casuses
your machine to freeze. It's time consuming, but may
help in narrowing down what is the cause (if in fact
it is software related).
Two points here: first is that I cannot reinstall one by one because the error is not (yet) reprocucible. So I would never know when one app is "secure" and when to install the next one...
And second, I think that software should no be able to freeze a system like OS X (or FreeBSD) just like that, no? Maybe crash the app, but not the system...

Hmmm..... why to update ALL drivers if you dont know why this happen?
You must restore notebook to factory settings, open notepad and test it. can you confirm that this happen immediately after notebook restore to factory settings?
It is not easy to assist with such issues. We dont know which stuff is installed on your notebook, which additional (third part software) applications are installed, which background processes are active, how your OS is configured and so on.
In my opinion some background activity is responsible for this. it can be Microsoft updates installation if you have set it to option automatically. It can also be some antivirus scanning activities. Who knows?
Try to change OS settings and OS configuration. -
I've had my iTunes account for about a year now, and I just got the iPhone 5s. I logged into my iTunes account on my phone just fine, and all the music I've bought on iTunes has transferred to my phone, but the cds I burned haven't. The sync button is gray so I can't click on it. The songs from the cds on iTunes are checked and should sync but haven't. Please help!

why is my ipod so slow and laggy? i have lots of space on it, my history is deleted, i dont have multiple apps running! I have an iPod 4th Gen for about 2 years now and I don't know what to do.... Please help
Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I've had my iMac put away for about a year, now I can not remember the admin password upon startup. And I don't have the installation cd's (of course)! Is there any way to re-boot, re-do, get into my Mac to change it. I don't remember it even w/ the hint

I have been running firefox now for about 4 years and love it. Recently I tried signing on and it just runs a blank page. I uninstalled it and re installed it to no avail. I have it on my allow list for my fire wall , and have tried all the fixes that i can. can you please help. So, I have had an Ipod touch (fourth generation) for a little less than a year now, and I have never had any problems with it until the latest version of itunes came out. Now, my ipod never can sync (I left it up for an hour before and it only got to step 2 out of 7), and I can't add any more music to my ipod! To make it worse, about 100 songs that I had deleted off my ipod, but could still be found in my itunes library, appeared again on my ipod! But, they are grayed out and I can't listen to them so they just take up space.

My ipod touch wont turn on for about a year now.
My charger was not working and my ipod touch (5th genaration) was at 20% battery. So turned it of thinking it would save the battery. I tried to turn it back on and it didnt work. No logo, no dead battery sign, nothing. I plugged it into the computer and it didnt detect it. Have plugged it in for about 3 or 4 weeks now and nothing has happend still. I only have had it almost 3 years before it turned off. I dont know what to do and i cant really afford another one. Can i have help please or send it in to get fixed im really out of ideas.

MBP Freezing For Over A Year Now!! HELP!!
My 15" MacBook Pro freezes relentlessly. Even restarting by holding down the power button often does not assist. I have to do that several times before I finally get lucky and it works. Sometimes keyboard is not recognized. Sometimes mouse just goes crazy. EVERY single time it freezes, I hear the "static" (like crumbling paper in a ball) from both speakers.
TRIED EVERYTHING. AppleCare has had the MBP for over 2 months throughout the year. Every time they replace the motherboard/RAM/etc... Regardless, nothing ever changes. Boot from CD, re-install OS, zero format, you name it. NOTHING works. However, the freezing ONLY happens when I am on the net. Never doing anything else.
Anyone have any idea of how to use CHUD for a MBP?

I seriously doubt that Apple will accept your iPad for service/exchange since it sounds like it's a real basket case. If they
Do accept it, the cost would be 99USD, but if it is a 64Gb model it will cost 199USD. The best thing for you to do is to take it into the nearest Apple store to see if they will accept it for repair/exchange. I can tell you that they definitely will not give you an iPhone in exchange. -
It was in my house the whole time and I'm 100% sure the email it's showing is not mine. Because of this I can't log in as I don't know the APPLE ID or PASSWORD that locked my iPad. I've seen many people have this problem and I think someone may have hacked into my wifi network and done this. Any help?

Following instructions are from Ipad user guide (IS08)
Your Ipad may just have locked itself -- if you have not set a passcode it should work.
Sleep/Wake button
You can lock iPad and put it to sleep when you’re not using it. Locking iPad puts the display to sleep, saves the battery, and prevents anything from happening if you touch the screen. You still get FaceTime calls, text messages, alarms, and notifications, and can listen to music and adjust the volume.
Lock iPad. Press the Sleep/Wake button.
Unlock iPad. Press the Home button or the Sleep/Wake button, then drag the slider that
appears onscreen.
Turn iPad on. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Turn iPad off. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the slider appears onscreen, then drag the slider.
f you don’t touch the screen for two minutes, iPad locks itself. You can change how long iPad waits to lock itself, or set a passcode to unlock iPad.
Set the auto-lock time. Go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock. Set a passcode. Go to Settings > Passcode. -

I don't know what "everything" is, unless you state them, so I have to ask if you did this procedure to reset the iPod shuffle.

If that does not help, is the iPod recognized by iTunes when it is connected to USB? If so, select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar (under DEVICES). Over to the right, go to the Settings screen. There should be a Restore button there. Restore will erase the iPod, install the latest software, and give it the default settings. After it completes, load some songs on it and try it again. Hopefully, it will play now.
If that does not help either, please post back.
