Dual headrest DVD player connected with Sync MyFord Touch, is it possible?

Hi, I am emailing you because I am currently in the process of buying a new car and I am trying to find some information on aftermarket Headrest DVD players. The car that I am buying has the updated Sync MyFord touch system with navigation and all that. What I want to do, and I am trying to get information for is if there is anyway to have Dual DVD headrests installed in the car and have them connected to the front Touch navigation screen so I can put DVDs in up front and have them play in the headrest screens as well as the front NAV screen weather Im in drive or parked. And even better if I cant watch media off of a device by plugging in a USB or through RCA connection to a Media device? I am currently deplyed out of fort carson and will be returning in May and I am looking for a place that can do what I am looking for. Thank you for any information.
SGT Gallegos, Robert

Hi bobby08dtp,
I would really recommend that you head over to your nearest Best Buy and talk to one of the Install Bay techs. He/She will have more experience in this area than I do. I'm hoping one of our super people will also chime in and help. Thanks,

Is there a way to burn an imovie I made to a dvd that will play in my dvd player connected to my tv?

Yes but this has nothing to do with iTunes.
Open the file in iMovie and select menu Share > iDVD.

  • What kind of HDMI switch is recommended?  We have a Smsung TV and DVD player along with the Apple TV.

What kind of HDMI switch is recommended?  We have a Saimsung TV and DVD player along with the Apple TV..  The switch we bought works for a few days and then starts cutting out.  Thanks.

Does the TV not have multiple HDMI inputs?
    There are no "recommended" switches.
Buy a quality device that gets good reviews.

  • Portable DVD Player Compatable with iPod touch?

Does anyone know of a portable DVD player compatible with iPod touch that has a reasonable battery life? Philips makes a portable DVD player - the DCP 851 - that has an iPod touch dock, but the battery life is only 2.5 hrs. There are several other portable DVD players out there with substantially longer battery lives (Panasonic has one with a 13 hr. battery life), but generally they don't seem to be compatible with an iPod (most appear to only have A/V input through a mini jack, and I can't seem to find an iPod-to-mini jack converter). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

It will only require that you change the security and password on your other devices. Apple devices work much better with WPA, and WPA is far more secure than WEP.
It should be relatively simple to re-configure the router's wireless security to use WPA2 or WPA Personal security. WPA passwords do not require any special characters like WEP does. Once you re-configure the router all you need do is make the appropriate changes in your other devices to use WPA security and enter the new password.

  • HT1583 After the Burn, I tried to play the DVD on my iMac, but will not recognized the DVD.  It worked on my DVD player connected to my TV.  First time it happened. ok.

After  completing the Burn process, I tried to play the same DVD to the same computer, but did not recognized the DVD media.  It worked ok on the DVD player connected to my TV.  I've been burning DVD for a quite a awhile, this is the first time it happened.

    Hi
    This usually depends on
    • BURN SPEED - not set down to x2 or max x4 - BEST IS N OT BEST - it gives max burn errors = BAD DVD
    • Brand of DVD used - MeMorex, NoName etc are known problem makers - I only use Verbatim
    • Type of DVD used - DVD+/-RW and DVD+R and DL-DVDs - can give a variety of problems - I only use SL-DVD-R
    • Low free space on the Start-Up (Macintosh HD) Hard Disk - also gives bad result
    - interlaced SD-Material (as on old CRT-TV (tube)) - I never go less than 25Gb
    - HD-material - then 4 - 5 times more seems to be a good safe minimum.

  • Apple's DVD Player: audio in-sync. External DVD Player: audio out of sync

I exported my Sequence from FCP to QT, used compressor to make m2v and ac3 (Dolby) files, then used DVD SP to burn a DVD.
When I play the DVD on my Mac Pro using Apple's DVD Player, MPEG Streamclip or VLC, the audio is in sync with respect to the images, FCP's Canvas and FCP's QT export.
But when I play the DVD using any of three different external DVD players, the audio momentarily drifts out of sync by 30 to 40 frames, near the end of my 30-minute program, but is back in sync after about a minute, when the shot at hand ends and the next shot begins.
More specifically, it's as if the video lags by about 30 to 40 frames, but there is no stuttering or other obvious visual sign that this is happening.
Why would Apple's DVD Player, MPEG Streamclip or VLC play the audio in sync while these external DVD Players play it out of sync?
I should add that in order to verify that the TVs to which the external DVD players are attached are not the source of the problem, I monitored the audio using headphones connected directly to the audio outputs of the DVD Players as well as connected to the headphone jacks of the TVs, and there was no difference, i.e. in both cases, the audio drifts out of sync momentarily, as I describe above.
I can only think that DVD SP is muxing the m2v and ac3 file in such a way that software DVD players can demux it without difficulty, but hardware DVD players cannot.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

Please tell us what was wrong.

  • Dual Layer DVD's compability with Settop DVD players

Is there any problems with playing Dual Layer DVD's on a normal consumer DVD Video player?
Is the DVD Video Player able to read the DVD-r DL or DVD+r DL disks at all?

    Hi Chris,
All my previews go out through a bit setting DVD 5 downsized system. It's probably 3 years old now. I must admit until yesterday I had completely forgotten about this. As it's just part of the workflow. From having looked around last night my understanding is currently that some +R recorders now come preset to bit encode for DVD-ROM straight out of the box.
I will also have to look into what Toast is currently outputting. You know the old adage if it ain't broke.....
I have been very slack with respect to my DVD 9's. I simply use toast as I have normally post authored my build folders. But, those good results may be in part due to the fact that pretty much all my product goes to producers and DVD facilities. So it's either going to end up on a relatively young machines or PC's. None of it would end up in a home i would think.
    Good Luck.

  • Why won't DVD Player work with Mountain Lion?

I just tried to play a DVD on my Macbook Pro that worked just fine before I updated to Mountain Lion. Each time I try to play it, I get an error telling my that DVD Player has "unexpectedly quit." I've tried shutting down and restarting with no luck. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I want to love the Mountain Lion update, but this is really frustrating.

    See this thread:

also, I had the same problem. What fixed it for me (so far) was to launch DVD Player, then load the DVD in the drive. Using that procedure got it working, and it has been working since.

  • External NEC dual layer DVD player not reconized by DVD player

Mac DVD Player will not reconize Movies inserted into the NEC DVD RW (model ND-3500AG) or Toshiba DVD-R (modelSD-R5112) installed in an external Firewire enclosure with an error of "THERE WAS AN INITIALIZATION ERROR" "A valid DVD drive could not be found. (-70012) any help with this would be great.

Apple's DVD Player will only run if there is a DVD player installed inside the computer; you can use this application to play DVDs from the external drive.

  • Dual Layer DVD player or not?

Maybe I should know it, but can anyone tell me if I have a Dual Layer or DVD-9 player on my iMac ?
Model iMac7.1 - 2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, bought in november 2007.
I like to know if I can run the Adobe CS5 DVD before I buy it ...
    Thanks!

I did check 'About my Mac' , but can not find anything about DVD Dual or 9...
To confirm, you did click on More Info to get to System Profiler, then in the Hardware section, Disk Burning, what does it say under "Disk Write"? For example, mine says:
    DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
which indicates a Superdrive that can write to both DVD-R DL & DVD+R DL disks.
In the product information on the web there was a specific warning: DVD player must be able to run Dual Layer DVD (DVD-9). This is the reason for my question ...
You may want to ask Adobe what they mean by that. If it's just to read dual layer disks, then like I said, any DVD drive can read a dual layer disk. But if one of the apps in CS5 needs to write to dual layer disks, then the recording capabilities become important. To me the wording "...player must be able to run..." infers that it's read, not write.
However, I believe you are in luck. Everymac's website reports that your Mac should have a dual layer capable Superdrive. (Limited to writing to DVD+R DL only. But again, should be able to read any dual layer disk.)

  • Best DVD player compatible with iMAC?

Not all DVD players accept DVD-R burned on iMAC.
Anyone have a suggestion on what choose?
For use Domiciled in the UK.
    Thanks
    Molenoux

I have burned several DVDs onto TESCO Branded DVD-R discs.
None of which I tried to view on my in house Toshiba DVD player worked satisfacorily.
Not surprising. Just think of them as mini-frisbees!
Try one of the brands most of here use and recommend: Verbatim DVD-R (Sainsbury's sell those), Maxell or Fuji, and of course the best: Taiyo Yuden if you can find them.
