Dual LED "24 Cinema Displays

I just purchased a MBP 2.8Ghz and was debating on whether to get dual 23" monitors or, if there is a way to use a dual display setup with the new "24 LEDs? (just for clarification, I do not consider my laptop display as part of a dual display setup). I am a professional animator and want the mobility of the MBP but want a dual setup at home to mimic my work environment...

This may work newegg or some sort of expresscard video card. I also found this product as well. Vidock

    Hi-
Can I Use Dual Apple LED 24 Cinema Displays?
    Yes.
    Either another graphics card or an Atlona box;
    http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort-Converter-p-17859.html
Either way will get your 24" LED displays connected.
If you use FCP, the box would be better......

    (2) 27" LED Apple Cinema displays + Sapphire 6950 on a Win7 Box...
    Would this work?
The Sapphire 6950 has dual mini displayports...

    I got this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102914
I'm still using the Sceptre Naga's for now, though. I still don't know if it will work exactly as I expect, but the new machine is nice anyway.

  • Apple LED 24" Cinema Display audio problem under 10.6.8 (with post fix)

    Hi all,
I'm using an Apple LED 24" Cinema Display with a 2010 MBP 15" and had been using 10.6.8 without problem. After installing the post-fix I now get static noice on (clipping?) when music contains lots of base. If I switch the output to my MBP's built-in speakers then the audio is fine.
Is there any way to un-install the 10.6.8 post-fix?
    Thanks,
    Yanik

Solved the issue. This issue coming up after installing the 10.6.8 supplemental update was just a considence. I ended up tracing the issue back to my Atlona AT-MDP21 Mini-DisplayPort KVM switch and after fiddling with cables the issue went away.

  • Will my LED 27 Cinema Display work with the new Mac Pro?

Will my LED 27 Cinema Display work with the new Mac Pro?

Mini DisplayPort (like 27" LED Cinema Display) is a direct subset of ThunderBolt (like Mac pro late 2013). It plugs right in and the display portion "just works", no adapters required.

  • Second Monitor with 2008 LED Apple Cinema Display?

Hi there I have an Eary 2011 15" MacBook Pro, with Thunderbolt.
Last night I purchased an immaculate 2008 LED Apple Cinema Display.  It was just far too good a deal to turn down.  The resolution is 1920 x 1200.
Prior to this I had (and still do have) a Dell Ultrasharp U2410 PremierColor, with attached sounbar.
I now have the Apple display set up and running and it is awesome looking (same resolution as my Dell, but with the backlit LED, it just looks pristine).
Is there a way I can set up the Mac so that both monitors are running, I know I can't daisy chain, and this Apple monitor is Mini Display port as opposed to Thunderbolt.
The Dell has two DVI ports, a VGA, a HDMI, a DisplayPort, and a set of Component and Composite connectors.
Which of these would be best to use and is it even possible?
    Thanks in advance.
    Tommy

Connect the Apple display to the Thunderbolt port and the Dell with a USB-to-DVI adapter like this:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/VIDU2DVIA/
Note that because USB is slow, the Dell monitor will be less responsive than the ACD.

  • Will there ever be an LED 30" cinema display ?

Bored of my 30" LCD now, will there ever be an LED 30" cinema display ?

    On behalf of Adobe …
Confirming that there will absolutely not be any hi DPI updates for InDesign 8 (CS6) either for Mac or Windows. As Peter indicated, this support was part of a massive code rewrite that went into InDesign 9 (CC) to support 64-bit versions of InDesign and the transition from the so-called Carbon to Cocoa programming frameworks on MacOS.

  • Mac Pro and dual 24" LED Apple Cinema Displays

I really want to upgrade my current 22" cinema display to the 24" LED, but as far as know there is no way currently to do so.
Does anyone know how to make it happen? Is there an adapter or do I need a new video card? It has to be possible right?

    Hi,
the Mini-DisplayPort Apple uses on the MacBook, MacBook Pros and the 24" ACD is a minituarized version of the 'full' DisplayPort and is also a proprietary version currently not used by other manufacturers.
    See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AppleCinemaDisplay
Might be only a matter of time for such an adapter to come out.
(At least I hope so myself, since the ACD looks really good )

  • Using the Macbook with new LED Apple Cinema Display? Not a beginner's Q...

Hi - I'm sort of cross-posting this because I'm not getting any answers in the Apple Cinema Display Forum, so here goes. So far, no one - not even a tech guy at a local Apple Reseller - has been able to help, so I've got my fingers crossed.
I just got a 24" Apple LED Cinema Display and am using it with my 13" Aluminum Unibody Macbook. What I do is dock the Macbook (with closed screen) when at home with the big display and just use that. I enlarge program windows and arrange the layout (in different spaces) to take advantage of the large screen and resolution. So far so good.
But I'm a student and take my macbook with me to class. When I open it up, all the program windows are set as they were on the larger screen, which means some are out of view or simply not well-adjusted for the smaller and lower resolution of the Macbook. I manually adjust these and work on the Macbook that way.
But when I return home in the evening, I have to adjust them again once I 'dock' the Macbook. Kind of a pain if I'm doing this twice a day.
What I'd like to know is: is there a setting or group of settings that would do this automatically for me? A program? An AppleScript? Surely someone out there has had the same issues and has found a fix, if such a thing exists. Or is it just a fact of nature one deals with when working on two screens?
To preclude one response: yes, I know I can mirror the displays when I open the Macbook along with the LED Cinema Display. But this simply mirrors them using the lower resolution and dimensions of the Macbook screen. And that kind of negates having the larger, Cinema Display.
So - any thoughts? Solutions? How do you guys manage with this?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

I don't really have a solution for you but wanted to link you to a discussion on this very topic that took place last month on MacInTouch.
    http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/helpplease/topic3939.html#d24sep2009
The conclusion seemed to be that it is not an OS issue, it's an application issue. There really was no good answer but some good insight into why the problem exists and why it may not be something Apple can fix.

  • LED 24" Cinema Display

Does anyone offer an extension for the 3 cables (MacBook Pro power adapter, mini port display, and USB) on the new 24" LED Cinema Display?

off the topic but why is Apple discontinuing the 24"inch LED?

  • Best performance dual 30 inch cinema displays   dual x1900 card(s) ?

I am trying to get the maximum performance out of my system. I have a Mac Pro with two 30 inch cinema displays. I have them both connected to one X1900 card.
I use LightRoom as my photo work flow manager. I spread the library across both monitors as I sort thru photos.
Performance is good but sorting thru several thousand RAW files I need every bit of speed I can get.
Would I get better performance if I used two x1900 cards, one for each monitor? how about the 7300 or the FX4500? would those improve speed or better just for gaming?
thanks in advance for any help.

Two Quad-core with 8-16GB RAM, and your media fles on RAID.
I'd configure with 4 x 750GB WD RE2s. Can't easily swap or upgrade cpu so that is a given until you know and Apple has something that would make sense to buy/swap to newer faster systems (maybe in a year or next summer).
There is no support for two 16x lane slots. Maybe in the future but not now.
I doubt your performance is limited or factor of the twin 30s on the Radeon. It might. Try running with just one monitor for a few hours.

  • Dual 20" Apple Cinema Displays brightness control

    Hello all,
Finally added a 2nd 20" Cinema Display to my setup. When I first got the new display hooked up (used from eBay, but in great condition) I noticed that it was pretty dark so I went to adjust the brightness... but the buttons on the side of the display didn't work and there was no brightness slider on the preferences pane for that display. The primary display DID have the brightness control.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been trying to figure out why I couldn't change the brightness on the 20" cinema display connected to my MacBook Pro and now I know the reason. Thanks for this question and answer.
Shouldn't such a simple and necessary thing be made clear in the MacBook Pro manual?

  • Macbook pro 2011 to dual ADC 20" cinema displays

Ok here it goes. I made the jump from old motorola G5 to Macbook Pro 2011 17". Is there a way to connect my old ADC displays to macbook for clamshell use? It would really make long form stuff easier to endure... FCP, Motion builds etc. New Mac rocks and the idea I can edit on location was too good to pass up with new specs. Thanx
    in advance

I think the video port only supports one single external display, but you can use the laptop display simultaneously when the lid is open.
For clamshell mode, like if you wanted to use a HengeDock, you might be able to use one of these Matrox DualHead2Go products.
    http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/press/releases/2010/dualhead2go_dp/triplehead2 go_dp/mac_notebooks_desktops/
Your G5 maybe had one ADC and one DVI output?  So you were likely using one DVI-to-ADC adapter, either the Apple or Dr Bott version.  With one of the DualHead2Go dual DVI outputs, you would need two of the DVI-to-ADC adapters.  It should work, but you may be limited as to the max resolution, depending on the size and native resolution of the monitors, the video output of the MacBookPro through the Matrox device might not be able to drive both of them at their max native resoution, check the specs and ask Matrox tech support for info, it might work for you.

  • No synchronisation between MacBook Pro 15" Retina and Apple LED Thunderbolt Cinema Display 27"

If I start my Retina MacBook with connected Apple 27" Monitor via Thunderbolt, I can notice less a second a blue Screen on both devices and then both Displays become black, since I installed Mountain Lion (10.8.2); the time before (Lion 10.7), the synchronisation was ok and everything is okay with my 13"-Apple AirBook (Lion 10.7) also.
Now, when this happens and I  move down the Display of my 15" MacBook Retina, I can see everthing on the 27" monitor. With an extern mouse, I can work quite well (without the MacBook-keyboard, because the Display is closed). I didn't try an extern keyboard till now. I only can move the pointer of the ext. mouse visible on both screens.
When I connect a further monitor via HDMI to my MacBook Retina, everthing is okay and I can watch 3 Displays !!!
When I turn off (the third still HDMI-connected Monitor), I can continue working with 2 Displays - Mac Book and 27"-Apple monitor, everthing is ok.
If I disconnect the 27" Monitor, I can continue on the MacBook without a problem. If I connect the Apple-Monitor via Thunderbolt again, the Problem comes again.
Why I can't  find a synchronisation between my 15" MacBook Retina (Mountain Lion 10.8.2) and my Apple 27" Monitor (baught in August 2012)????

True, but eBay's policies are now totally lopsided in favor of buyers. So much, that there are far more sellers getting scammed these days.
Buyers hold all the cards with eBay.
Here's an ebay search. The lowest completed listing prices are within 10% of Apple's... about what you can get with an educational discount anyway. After listing / final value fees and Paypal fees, at those prices sellers are losing money.
    Why? Hmm...

  • How can I connect a LED Cinema Display to Intel-based iMac?

My iMac24" (Intel-based 2.8 Ghz Core 2 Duo) has a Mini DVI Output. The LED 24"Cinema Display has a Mini Display Port. Is there an adapter available to use the Cinema Display as an Extended Desktop?
    Need help urgently! Thanks.

    no 3rd party solutions available?
As I said, there are no converters available, from any source.
What makes the DisplayPort special compared to a MiniDVI?
You can read up on DisplayPort here:

That article lists some purported advantages.
