Dual mode in N80-1

I'm currently using N80-1. Just got it weeks ago. Lately my area is catered with UMTS network coverage already. However it doesnt able to automatically switch to UMTS network at my home. I'm using Dual Mode in the network settings. As i drive my car to further area, the UMTS is automatically being switched and noticed the 3G icon displayed. Does anybody knows how the Nokia phone select its network in Dual Mode? Which one will be prioritize ? UMTS or GSM.
If i force the Dual Mode to just UMTS mode, i still able to get UMTS signal inside my house around 3/4 signalling bars. Upstair Full signal bars.
I hope the Dual Mode will function both as UMTS and GSM.
Anybody can help?

That depends on your network.
Basically, Nokia develop firmware and send it to the networks who are then supposed to customise it - add branding, turn off certain features etc - and send it back to Nokia who then make it available via NSU.
Not all networks are very good at doing their bit, though. For example, I'm on Vodafone in the UK and the latest version available to me is 4.0623 which is very old: the last per-IE version.
On the upside, it's relatively stable. Judging by the posts on here, 4.0707 has lots of problems. I don't recall defaulting to GSM instead of 3G being one of them, but I guess that's possible.

  • New AEBS (dual mode) extending with AEBS - N Issues

I just bought the new AEBS dual mode router. When I try to extend the network with a AEBS-N the attached computer always seem to to have DNS issues and cannot connect to websites. The problem appears to be very intermittent with network drops a few times and hour. As soon as I disconnect the router extending the dual band everything seems to be fine.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks-

I think I found the problem. I've solved it, and now it's working really rock solid.
And yes, the latest version of the 802.11n base stations (the dual band II) has indeed an enhanced radio subsystem.
I was advertising a 802.11n network on 2.4 GHz as well, and I think that the remote base station, which doesn't have a choice to select 2.2 or 5 GHz, and relies on finding the main base station, was somewhat confused.
After setting it to 802.11n (5 GHz) and 802.11b/g (2.4 GHz) it's working like a charm.
I seemed to have some local interference, not sure about it, and I've changed to the highest channel on 5 GHz (48). As I said, working like a charm now. Rock solid and a clear improvement over the radio in the previous versions.

  • Connection error in "Dual mode"

Yesterday, after 2 months of normal usage, my E61i, settled on “dual mode”, stopped to work.
On the screen it appears instead of “3G” the symbol of an antenna (GSM connection) without the name of the operator.
If I try to make a call it doesn’t work and it gives “connection error”. When someone calls me, it gives the message "phone is switched off".
If I set the phone on “GSM mode”, it works but of course in GSM and not in UMTS (3G), and I need to use 3G in order to speed up the internet connection.
My Italian operator is Wind and if I transfer this sim in another phone (Nokia 6151 that is a more simple UMTS phone) the problem is exactly the same.
I tried to use a different sim Wind, and also in this case I have the same problem on both the phones.
With a sim of Vodafone all is ok.
Probably it is mainly a network problem, but I cant understand why the phone doesn’t switch automatically on GSM if UMTS signal is not present. The phone is not a “provider locked phone”, it is an original “Nokia” and it has been updated to firmware version 2.0633.65.01. The 3G signal was very good.
I’ve found a lot of posts concerning this problem, but the only suggestion is to change the network mode from "Dual Mode" to "GSM", and then back to "Dual Mode".
Unfortunately the above solution doesn’t work and consequently I’m starting a new topic hoping to receive some new suggestion in order to solve this problem.
    Thank you and best regards

My videos work when previewed in CP and when previewed in web browser, but not when published in the LMS. I have just updated from CP 5.5 to CP 7 AND switched to a new LMS ;-) Naturally problems occur...
My old LMS took scorm 1.2 and the new one scorm 2004. Therefore I have merely opened my CP 5.5. project in CP 7- re-publised it to scorm 2004 and published it to our new LMS. Everything works but not any of the videos. Instead of the video playing the text "Connection error" appears. I have tried both IE and Chrome. The videos were added by Video- Insert video and are matched to the slides length. The videos are in f4v format and worked fine when published in CP 5.5. and the old LMS.
    1. Is there anything I need to do when re-publishing a CP 5.5. file in CP 7?
    2. I've seen many questions about similair issues at the forum concerning going from CP 5.5. to 6. In those cases peolpe recommended to inistall a patch from Adobe, and that seem to have solved peoples issues- would the same work for me?
    3. Might there be some adjustment needed in the new LMS?
Hope you can give me som input!

  • How do I know if Satellite A100-216 has a dual mode pad?

    Hi,
I bought my laptop this week, and in the manual it says that some models in this series have got dual mode pads rather than just a mouse pad. How do I know if my model has it?
Do I have to activate something, or would it just work automatically if it was on my laptop?

If your touchpad doesn't look like this:

you don't have dual mode pad.

  • Programming and using in dual mode

how do i programme n70-1 for both GSM and CDMA frequencies.Does it requier a seperate SIM? The operating channels are chl1-42,chl2-83,SID-14495 and NID-- 65535

The N70 is a dual mode GSM/WCDMA, not CDMA as in most U.S. state. You just go to Tools->settings->Network->select dual mode
WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multi Access) is 3G far different from CDMA which is a different Mobile phone network technology.

  • Cisco Dual Mode Android

    Hello,
I can't seem to create a dualmode phone for android on Cisco Call Manager 10
It says when i enter the name it has invalid characters or is not formatted correctly for this device type.
I wonder what the correct format type is then, i've tried: TCT_PATRICK, since i remember that was the name type for the iphone application
    Kind Regards,

    The Device Name:
Can represent only one device. If a single user has Cisco Jabber for Android on multiple devices, configure separate Cisco Dual Mode for Android devices for each in Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
    Must start with BOT.
    Must be uppercase.
Can contain up to 15 characters total.
Can include only the following characters: A to Z, 0 to 9, dot (.), dash (-), or underscore (_).
Cisco recommends that the device name include the username of the user so it is easy to remember (for example, the recommended device name of user jsmith is BOTJSMITH).

Your battery is dead. Swap it for a new one. Also, use a sharp toothpick to clean the charger hole. Don't use metal needles and do it while the battery is out.

  • MSI P67A-GD53 (B3) - BSOD if 2 sticks of DRAM used in dual mode

    Hi there,
I have an issue with BSOD when using 2 sticks of DRAM when the machine is overclocked or the DRAM is set to 1333MHZ and above.
Initially I got the system up and running and over clocked using the OC Genie button on the mother board over clocking to 4.3GHZ which ran great but after a day or 2 I got
BSOD. Initially I thought this was due to an SSD failure so I brought another OCZ AGILITY 3 SSD and reinstalled windows 7 and again after a few days I got BSOD.
This time however I ran memtest at bootup and saw errors appearing. I tested each DRAM stick separately and they were error free after running memtest on each for a good few hours.
When I put both RAM sticks back in dual mode the errors appeared again. I turned off OC genie and ran the same testes on the RAM with the same results.
Now in the bios I noticed that the DRAM was set to run at 1333MHZ so I changed this to 1600MHZ (the speed on the label on the DRAM itself) and ran memtest once more which through up loads of errors. So then I changed it to 1066MHZ, ran memtest and bingo! no errors!
So now I have my machine running nicely unclocked with the DRAM running at 1066MHZ.
Thing is I want to be able to overclock my machine and discover what is causing this DRAM failure.
It would appear that there is no issue with the hardware as it all works at slower speeds.
What could be causing the BSOD when the machine is overclocked or when the DRAM is running at more than 1066MHZ?
    many thanks

You do that. For the P67 boards, the earmarked slots for 2 memory modules are 1 and 3.
The applied memory voltage may be a tad too low. You can up that to 1,575 manually.
The BIOS version is the latest for Sandy Bridge processors.
Insert only one memory module in the first slot closest to the CPU. Then do a full CMOS clear with power cord removed, and retest your system again with only the one module.
If the tests are good, then add the second module.

  • N84000GS card in dual mode

After having just set up the N840000GS card in dual mode on different resolutions, the analogue display(LCD TV) keeps making a regular clicking sound from the speaker at roughly 1 second intervals. Only way to stop it is to turn the volume off. Any ideas what the problem is. Running XP.

What has the analogue sound output to the speakers of your LCD TV has to do with the video cards?  If the sound can be turned off simply by turning off the volume, it is coming from the sound card/sound chip that is responsible for the sound output.  In case this is an onboard soundchip, this is a mainboard problem.  In case the sound is coming from an add-sound card, then this is a sound card problem.

  • NOKIA C7 dual mode...

I have been using my Nokia C7 for a few months now only on GSM and generally I get 2 days from the battery, just lastly the GSM internet has been extremely slow so I’m thinking of switching to dual mode or 3g, my question is I know it uses more battery but how much more? Will I lose a days battery or a little like an hour etc? Thanks for your help

I personally prefer using dualmode, as it would switch back and forth when 3G signal is low. If 3G signal is low, it would be using 2G to conserve battery, as a weaker signal would make the phone use more battery. However using 3G would also use more battery than 2G alone.

  • Ram in Dual Mode

I have hp probook 4440s. I wanted to know whether i can run my ram in dual mode with Intel HD 4000??

No is the simple answer. What problem are you having that makes you think you need to do that? If you are struggling with a game it is because the graphics power is not real strong. Even if you could add more video memory it would not help.

  • 6233 Battery Life - Does dual mode drain battery ?

It is rumoured that leaving the phone on Dual Mode (GPS and 3G) drains the battery quite a lot quicker than leaving it on GPS only. Has anyone experienced this ?

I also use GSM only mode and only switch to 3G when I am in need of data services or sending MMS.
Call quaity also seems better on GSM than WCDMA (3G) for me.

  • Difference between 3G and Dual Mode?

When I go through cellular network options, I get 3 options as GSM, 3G and Dual Mode. What is the difference between the Dual Mode and 3G, and what exactly is this Dual Mode? When should I choose that over 3G?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Dual mode means that the phone will connect to either 2G (GSM) or 3G connections. It will try for a 3G connection if it's strong enough, otherwise, it will go to a 2G connection.
The difference between 3G and dual mode, is in 3G mode, the phone will only try to connect to a 3G connection.
In most cases, dual would be better. If you are in an area will really strong and constitent 3G, then it's probably better to be on 3G.

  • N73 v4.0726.2.0.1 Only has "Dual Mode"?

I have upgraded my N73 to v4.0.726.2.0.1 yesterday. It works well except this trouble: can only choose Dual Mode in Network Mode Settings. My old version has three modes: Dual Mode, UMTS and GSM. I heard that Dual Mode takes more battery that single UMTS or GSM mode. Can somebody help me? Thanks in advance.

  • MSI A88X-G45 Dual mode graphics help

Greetings I bought the A88X-G45 GAMING AC edition with an AMD 7850k APU, the Radeon gamer series 2133 DDR3 and the Sapphire R7 250 2GB
I would love to enable this amazing Dual mode that AMD so proudly shows but i get issues. and yes i googled myself to dealth before coming here.
First of all there is like NO Tutorials anywhere usefull to the MSI brand on how to dual mode your graphics. Heres is what i have done.
    (1st) i watched this
(2nd) I installed the card and put my HDMI into the Cards output like shown. When i turned on the computer i got a windows 8 unsigned device error and had the choice to disable the support or run set up.. well you get one choice in the end cause it loops over till you disable windows 8 support.
    (3) set the output to IGD and selected dual mode with a 2GB shared memory. save and reboot i also put my HDMI to the onboard output just like the video after reboot the computer shows the boot screen then the rotating circle as windows loads. Then Nothing a black screen. The computer is running but no display. just a black screen there must be a signal going to the monitor as there is no "NO Signal Detected" popping up it's just a black screen nothing more.
So i restarted the computer went to advanced settings and put the output to (PEG) saved and restarted the computer and all i got was "No Signal Detected" on my monitor so after after a while i rebooted the computer and put my HDMI to the card this time. All was good the computer boots and windows loads onscreen. I installed AMD Catatlyst 14.4 and it shows a dual mode option but says for best results i should use the primary graphics port. and the green arrow points to my APU but every time i try all i get is a black screen.
So MSI why do you not have proper detailed instructions on how to make this work.   Thanks

I tried MSI R7 250 2GD3 OC and the dual graphic works when output from on-board VGA.
Did you set share memory as default setting?
I set it as default but did not see any issue.
    Hope it is helpful info.
