DUAL MONITOR DISPLAYS

Anyone know of a way to keep the second monitor active when an application on my iMac screen is set to use "Full screen" mode. I can be anything from a game application to Aperture or even YouTube videos; any full screen mode seems to do it.
I bought the Apple brand Mini DVI to DVI adapter to connect the second display.
Thanks in advance for the help!

It's up to the application as to what happens to the second display when full-svreen is used.
For example, MPlayer OSX Extended can be set to run in full-screen mode and leave the second display useable while watching movies or DVDs.

  • Dual Monitor display/firmware difference

I purchased a Pavilion 27xi monitor from the HP Shopping site in October 2014 and purchased an additional 27xi to be used in a dual monitor setup. I received the new monitor this week. The newer monitor does not match the color/white of my existing monitor. When I move a white rectangle so it displays on each monitor, on the new monitor it appears as greenish gray instead of the white of the older monitor. I have done the factory resets, switched display adapter outputs (NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT), tried one monitor at a time on either adapter output. All with no change in the behavior of the new monitor. The internal setup/control menus of the monitors differ in content and style/color.
Older monitor info:  manuf: April 2014, Rev: RIM111
New monitor info:   manuf: Dec 2014,  Rev: RIM232
I have talked with HP "support" and one person thought it was because of the revision level difference.
I want the display quality of the older monitor, Rev: RIM111.  If the monitor difference is because of the revision level, can the newer monitor be put at the RIM111 level. I tried to purchase a monitor with the RIM111 level and was told by HP Shopping that they do not have any at that level. I this a firm level that can be changed? If so how do I accomplish that?

I understand that the newest monitor you have connected to your desktop computer does not match the color/white of the existing display, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To ensure that your system is properly configured for dual monitor displays, I recommend following the steps in this document on Using Two or More Monitors with One Computer (Windows 8). If everything is setup accordingly, I recommend following the steps below for the newest monitor:
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it
Step 6. Try a different cable connecting your monitor to your computer
If the above steps did not resolve your issue you can try the monitor on a computer or other device to see if the issue persists. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • W530 Dual monitor display

Is it possible to set the graphics card for the laptop display to use the nvidia Quadro instead of the Intel integrated chip?
Right, now the resolution for the laptop screen is at 1920x1080
and the resolution for the external monitor is 1600x900 (native)
The external monitor display is fine, but the laptop display is shrunken and there are huge black bars on all four sides.

BIOS setup -> config -> Display -> Graphics device -> discrete graphics.
And I also set "OS detection for nVidia Optimus" to DISABLE (from default of ENABLE).

This guarantees using only Quadro graphics, for both internal laptop screen (if you want to use it) and external monitor (if connected).
If you really want to use BOTH laptop LCD screen as well as external monitor (simultaneously, in "extended desktop mode") then in nVidia Control Panel you must activate both monitors in the "set up multiple displays" dialog.
    Link to picture
I have my external 1920x1200 monitor connected using the DP connector from my K1000M on my W530, and the laptop screen is 1920x1080. As you can see from the above, each screen is independent and can be set at whatever resolution you want ("native" or otherwise).  I have no black bars anywhere when both monitors are enabled and active.  Each monitor runs full-screen in its own unique "native" resolution (set through nVidia Control Panel's "change resolution" dialog), as the above graphic implies and as we want.
And of course, you also need to have Windows desktop display properties (right-click on desktop, select "screen resolution") configured for "extend mode".
I do not use the VGA connector.  I use the DP connector, and "discrete graphics" in the BIOS, with "nVidia Optimus" disabled in the BIOS. I'm also running native nVidia 332.50 retail drivers, downloaded from nVidia site (not Lenovo Optimus driver).
NOTE: I normally do NOT run with both external monitor and lapsop LCD screen both enabled, in "extended desktop" mode. Instead I only have ONE monitor enabled with nVidia Control Panel. I see no point in using a tiny 15" laptop screen at 1920x1080 along with a 24" external monitor at 1920x1200. One or the other is fine, depending on the situation.
Then, in this single monitor mode, if the external monitor is connected and powered on Windows comes up using the external monitor (and not the laptop screen) at its native 1920x1200.  If the external monitor is disconnected or powered off, Windows comes up using just the laptop screen at its native 1920x1080.
No internal Intel HD graphics used at all.  This is all using nVidia K1000M exclusively with external monitor connected via DP connector, one monitor or two (in extended desktop mode or even "clone/duplicate" mode if I wanted).
    For me this is perfect.

  • Macbook Pro late 2011 with Thounderbolt, will it support dual monitors display?

I have recently working on this Macbook pro, and wasn't able to find accurate information about the dual display solution for this MACBOOKPRO model.
    It has thunderbold port.
Have anyone happen to have this model and successfully connected with two conventional monitors?
Conventional monitors I mean, VGA, HDMI, or DVI.
    Thank you.

    Hi O,
According to MacTracker, the answer is a clear no for the 13" and yes for the 15" and 17".

  • Dual Monitor displays weird colors

    Hi there,
Yesterday I bought a Displayport to HDMI adapter (Mini DisplayPort Male - HDMI female) for my MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2011 version). I use this to connect my MacBook Pro to my Philips 32" television. Everything has been set up (I've adjusted the resolution of the TV to 1080p and put my refresh rate to 50 hz since my TV doesn't support 60 hz). But once in every 5 - 15 minutes or so, my screen turns green for a brief second and suddenly my background or whatever is on my second monitor turns in to weird colors. Sometimes it takes about 2 or 3 seconds and it switches back to how it normally was, but sometimes it takes way longer. I don't mirror my screen, I use it as a second display. But I can't figure out why the screen it switching betweens there colors and don't know how to fix it. I've looked it up on the internet, but couldn't find anything useful. So I hope you guys could help me with this.
    Thanks in advance.

Oops, I see that I'm in the wrong forum. Sorry about that.

  • Seamless Windows and Dual Monitor Display

Seamless windows open spanning both display monitors regardless of the settings I use to prevent it. It's like the SGD thinks both monitors are one big display and doesn't open things in just the default monitor. An application that opens maximized will cover both monitors!
Has anyone else had this problem and found a workaround? We are using Windows XP client (Dell laptop), IE6, 2 display monitors (NVidia graphics card), and the application server is Windows 2003, SGD is 4.2.

It is an individual application we are publishing in the seamless window, but that one application launches many applications from there -- it is basically a toolbar for launching a whole host of other applications.

  • SL500 dual monitor display

I was wondering if someone could help me.  I have an SL500 and need to hook up 2 projectors to it to display the same image from the laptop on 2 screens.  I have done a little research, but there are so many options and I'm not sure if I am considering the most efficient method of doing this.  I also am a bit intimidated by all of the specifications and am not sure if what I was going to purchase would be compatible.
The 2 projectors I need to connect to are a Dell M410HD and a Dell 2300 MP.  I was looking at splitters on this site, but don't know which one is the best/compatible for my laptop:
    http://www.startech.com/AV/Splitters/VGA-Splitters/
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

vga splitters will do, but if your cable is too long, the signal will degrade.
Alternatively you can use the Dell M410HD with your HDMI port, and the Dell 2300 MP with the vga port. This will give the highest quality.

  • B570 display fails after dual monitor display

After running my B570 (1068) with an extended display, the unit went into hibernation. On wake-up the laptop screen is indecipherable garbage. The second display will run to show BIOS startup but then reverts to the built-in screen - which is illegible. Toggling the F3 key does not get a good screen.
I read another post suggesting this is a hardware failure. What parts have failed?

    Hi Roger,
In that case, please try to turn ON any one of the display and check re-installing the driver and this is not possible. The only available is option is to contact our Technical Support for further Assistance to get the details of the nearest Authorized Service Center to get the issue analyzed.

  • Dual Monitor Problem: White Slug

I have a dual monitor display setup and whenever I enable View>External Video>All Frames instead of displaying video it displays a white slug. Ive tried to refresh A/V devices and it still doesn't work. I am using two GeForce 7300 GTs.

FCP does not support multiple graphics cards...AFAIK.

  • Menu bar shows twice on dual monitor, dock moves around

Mac Pro (early 2008) w/ Yosemite and dual monitor display
The menu bar at the top of the screen appears on BOTH monitors ALL the time. However, the one on the secondary monitor is dimmed out, and can be two or three app switches behind. For example, awhile ago I worked in Illustrator, and the Illustrator menu bar is visible in the second monitor (but dimmed). On the main monitor I have been in several apps since, but currently it is showing Firefox. If I mouse click on that dimmed out menu it will go right to Illustrator - and the Illustrator menu will appear on BOTH monitors. It will remain this way until switching to another app which has palettes on the second monitor, so just now I went to InDesign, and now that menu bar is visible. Also visible are the usual items in the right part of the menu, such as the time.
The Dock can also switch monitors, but that has only happened once.
Finally, but I think related. When in Adobe apps, with all the palettes located in the second monitor, when I click on something which should pop up more choices (anything in the character palette) - sometimes the pop-up will appear all the way across both screens, and on the main monitor. That is a ridiculous pain.
Other than that the system seems stable, and the apps do work. I did go back down to one desktop in spaces, but that seems to make no difference. Ideas ???

In my preferences - NONE of the check boxes are checked. I did check the mirror displays one earlier today, but that is not the answer.
Right now on my main monitor I have Firefox in the top menu, and the dock in the bottom, on the secondary monitor, it shows Photoshop main menu dimmed out. If I click on a Photoshop command in that menu, it immediately goes to the program.
iTunes is open, I just moved the main window over to that second monitor, now I can see both this Firefox screen and the Firefox menu, but now on the secondary monitor I see the iTunes window -- and the iTunes main menu is visible but dimmed in the second monitor.
I honestly don't think this is intended. It is certainly not helpful. The second monitor seems to remember whatever was open there last. Weird. I have used 2 monitors for YEARS, not seen that one before.

  • Simplest way to support dual monitor with HP 2570P

    Hi,
I would like to be able to use my dual monitors with my HP 2570P. I do not yet have a docking station.
What is the simplest way to support dual monitor display with my  HP 2570P ?
I'm not looking for mirror i am looking for an extended desktop. I can live with out the laptop display if required.
I know there was a previous post about the 2540 but I'm not sure if the outcome applied to 2570p too.
    thanks
    Richard.

There is no truly simple way except use of a docking station.
You can use the VGA port or the display port. None of the manuals I have seen assert that you can use them both simultaneously.
There is no a previous post about the 2540 in regards to using a dual external display setup in the forum that I have seen.

  • Dual monitor cabability

does this computer have the cabability of dual monitor display using the onboard video, one vgd and one dvi?

    Hi,
    Yes, it has:
One PCI Express x16 (Gen 3.0)
Three PCI Express x1 (Gen 2.0)
One PCI Express half-length mini card
You can add a video card but one thing you need to know: power supply and BIOS. You can't simply put a card in. Please read the following tutorials:

  • USEING DUAL MONITORS ON MSI DKA790 GX PLATINUM WITH INTERGRATED VIDEO

I know that you can use VGA + dvi-d port or vga + hdmi port together. But manual shows note : dvi-d connector does not support d-sub to dvi-d converter and i haven't seen a hdmi to vga converter that is not 200 Plus Dollars. Is There An easy way to get dual monitor support on the cheap? Or is It Just Easier to add another video card?

Your going to want to just buy a video card. If you are some one who is a game you will want to go with a higher end card for instance I will use the Nvidia 8000 series. The 8200 and 8400 are lower end processors for that card while the more expenseive 8600 and 8800 are the higher end cards. Make sure they support dual out put. Make sure you have a good power supply for any of the high end cards. Some of there demands can exceed 200 watts. Most dual monitor cards will have the two DVI poets and one S-video. they will also come with adapters for HDMI and component id they support it.  I do a dual monitor display and love it. way better than the splitters. anyways hope this helps.
