Dual Monitor has black bar on left

I have a 27" iMac running OS X 10.6.5 and have my second monitor (AOC 20" monitor with resolution of 1600 x 900 @ 60Hz). There is a black bar on the left side, can I get rid of this?

I rechecked my AOC and it's actually 22" with 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz, which is what I have me settings at.

Widescreen has black bars top and bottom

Imported a widescreen DV file into FCP5, rendered it, looks widescreen in the canvas but has black bars which are always exported. But I want to end up with a DVD that is full screen/widescreen when viewed on a widescreen TV or LCD monitor. How to get that and get rid of black bars?

In the menu bar: go to Final Cut Pro > Easy Setup. Choose DV-NTSC Anamorphic. Click OK.
Go to Sequence > Settings > Load Sequence Preset and click OK.
Right click your clip in the Browser and choose Item Properties > Format. Click next to Anamorphic in the clip column to place a checkmark. Click OK.

Laserjet pro m1530 has black bar at top when copying

Laserjet pro m1530 has black bar at top when copying, scanning bar seems to stick and not reset at top. Turning copier off seems to reset the screen back to top but next copy has same problem. No problem when printing from computer.

Have you tried connecting the print to a different wall outlet or location?
if no please try it and if it doesnt resolve then contact HP Tech support on 1 800 474 6836 and they will asist you further.

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information. Monitor has black borders in bootcamp

Recently purchased monitor has black boarders around the screen in windows, however when i switch to OSX its fine, no borders.
Also from time to time the screen turns black for a few seconds and comes back on.

I'm running OS 10.8.2 on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro, and I recently bought a Samsung Syncmaster SA300 (22 inch) monitor which I've connected using a VGA cable (DVI wasn't working, don't know why). I immediately noticed black bars on the sides of the screen, and the picture seems squished, despite the fact that I've chosen the proper resolution for the monitor. Funny thing is, when I boot into Windows 7, the bars disappear and the resolution looks perfect.

Mini-DVI to s-video: black bar on left side

Hi,
When outputting video through "the mini-DVI to s-video adapter" i have a black bar on the left side of my television.
It seems like the 1024*768 resolution is not able to completely fit the 4:3 area of my television (the image is to small).
any ideas?

I'm absolutely sure everything is displaying and that the image is not deformed in any way.
So my conclusion is that the image is just smaller (in every dimension) than it should be and than it was before.
I will try a lower resolution later today.

Quicktime output has black bars, any help?

You can see my settings below, all seems fine, but when outputting I have large black bars ;eft and right.

gnre the stretching thats just the forum, but its the balck bars I dont want, background is set as solid and white in motion, please help!

It doesn't matter what size your clip is. The video output is 720x480. If you place the small cip inside a standard video player, it will expand because the video player has to fill the output. Umm, that's not EXACTLY what's going on. The video feed cannot distinguish between big and little clips. it only knows to fill the screen with whatever it sees.

FaceTime has black bar on screen before call

When I launch FaceTime on my iPad 4 (retina), I get almost half the screen in portrait mode as a black bar. When I place the call, the screen is fine. This did not happen with iOS 7. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks Bob for this, it has focused my efforts. It seems to be a bit 'random' to say the least, and my nearest Apple Store is a 100 mile round trip to get to. This is very much an iOS 8 issue, but it seems that dear old Yosemite has a problem as well which wasn't helping my diagnosis (no audio when call is initiated). I shall take my iPad in to my "local" store and see what the resident Geniuses make of it.
Once again, thanks for your input - as a developer it gets a bit lonely here, but when problems surface, it can become alarming!

M83 dual monitor vga black screen

I have a thinckentre M83 configuration with dual monitors. The system has been operating fine until last week, post a Windows 8.1 update. Now the analog monitor is in a sleep state and I can't get it to be recognized by the system. I have checked all the drivers and everything is up to date. Need assistance.

Since the system is still under warranty I believe, you can contact Lenovo support. They shuld provide troubleshooting assistance.

Smart Playlist has black bar for My Rating stars

When I select the "My Rating" option in a Smart Playlist, I see a black bar instead of the 5 grey stars to select from.
I am running version 7. Any ideas what is causing this?

Try updating your video drivers and directx software.
Also look at your hardware acceleration -- at least one user reported that increasing the acceleration made the stars appear.

Black bar on left will not go away and covers slides

WHen we use keynote a black vertical see through bar appeared on left covering the slides. This bar will not disappear and we can't access the individual slides anymore.

yeah, this one nails a lot of my work too. i typically create
all of my button images in a vector graphics application and import
the BMPs into the general, over, and pressed button slots....now,
my hover images always have a bolder, slightly larger font to them
so that the user is fully 'aware' of what they're about to
press...thing is, my tutorials invariably are fully
backward/forward environments that typically do not even involve
linear learning. they're more of a 'dig in and find some learnin'
approach, meant for 'on the spot' learning....so what happens is
whenever somebody 'revisits' a page, they'll see a button they'd
already clicked in a 'hover' state, that stays that way until you
're-hover' over it. annoying to say the least. same thing happens
when you navigate backwards to a slide that contained a text box
where the user entered info....something about each frame lacking a
'wipe clean' command (i'm no coder, sorry for the layman's
terminology)....
hopefully that's present in 2.0....

Dual monitor goes black on skype call

Ever since i got a dual minitor, when i call someone on skype or i recieve a call , both of my screens go black, the only way to fix it is to unplug my monitors and plug them back in . If i do that , then i dont get any black screens until the next computer restart
Any help ?
PS: i already have all the latest drivers and latest skype

Thanks, Stu. Have you heard of this problem? One thing I hadn't tried was plugging it directly into the wall outlet, so now I'm trying that. I did have it plugged into a surge protector strip so now I'm crossing my fingers that was the problem. Last night it went black about 10 times. I don't really want to return it if I don't absolutely have to; I have lots of stuff on it now, plus I don't want to take a chance that amazon.com will charge me a restocking fee if they don't find something wrong with it (although it's still under the 30 day return policy).

Monitor has black sploches on it...

I have an I book G4 and the screen has 3 football looking black sploches about 1.5 inches x 2 on it. It looks like the screen is cracked, but it is not.
can you tell me what it is and how I can fix it. Is this the end of my trusty G4?
