Dual monitor on the MX-440 VTP card

I upgraded my machine from Win98se to Win2k pro.
The reason for upgrade, Win2K pro handles video editing better.
In 98se, my MSI MX 440- VTP card worked perfectly. Especially when I wanted to use dual monitor.
1) I could select a primary and secondary monitor, and select which monitor my desk top showed up on
2) I could also extend my desktop over 2 monitors
When I put a fresh copy of Win2K pro on my machine.
I lost the option to select which option my desktop showed up on.
2) I could extend my desk top, that was my only option for using the 2 monitors. My settings are now 768 * 1900 or something similar.
Has anybody had this problem with Win 2K pro
Tnks in advance

Hi,
Win2k seems to work ok for me - but I don't currently have a dual monitor setup to try with, but from memory....
If you go to Desktop->Properties->Settings, (where you set screen resolution, colour depth etc.) you should have 2 monitor icons near the top, labelled 1 and 2. You should be able to drag the right hand one to the left (for example), to make it the main desktop display. There should also be check-boxes to make one of them the primary display, and "Extend desktop to this monitor" for the other one.
But as I said, I can't try this at the moment, and you might need to go to the Advanced/ nView (or similar) dialogue (and of course, ensure that you have the right drivers - never overlook the obvious     )
Hope this helps

  • Can DV6-1352 Handle Long-Term Dual Monitors on the Graphics card

    Hey guys,
Very simple question here. I wanted to set up a dual monitor thing on my Dv6-1352. I believe it has this integrated graphics chip : Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD. I wanted to use the dual monitor capabilities on it, but I was wondering if over time, extended use of the graphics card due to dual monitors would make it over heat/kill it. I don't plan on playing games, just using it cuz A) Its pretty cool B)It'd help increase efficiency in my engineering school work which requires I have a lot of things open at the same time.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
The retail version of the 9600 comes with two DVI ports.
I think some companies were selling OEM versions with an ADC and DVI port that had been pulled from G5s and modified to work in G4s.
In a G5 both ports work fine but in a G4 I don't think the ADC port is powered. The Quicksilver does actually have the required internal power slot, but I think it's in a different position on the logic board. Consequently the power stub on the card which lines up with the slot in a G5 doesn't line up with the slot in a G4.
I think you can still use two monitors by using an ADC to DVI adapter cable. This would convert the unpowered ADC port into a second DVI port.
To connect two DVI monitors, you'd just need one ADC to DVI adapter cable.
To connect two ADC monitors, you'd need the above adapter plus two DVI to ADC adapters which are fairly expensive ($99 each).
To connect one DVI monitor and one ADC monitor, you'd need one ADC to DVI adapter cable and one DVI to ADC adapter.
The retail 9600 doesn't have an ADC port either, so either way you'd end up buying some form of adapter in order to use an ADC monitor.
    I hope this helps.

The one connected to the ADC no problme.

My guess is either a bad cable or bad adapter on the second monitor. Try switching the monitors and see if the problem follows the monitor.

The card has multiple outputs.  Try it before you spend any money.
Well, you win the prize... the ATI 4350 does work... albeit with a LOT of trying different options to get it all to work properly
When I got home last night wife want to try RIGHT NOW and I was too tired to go back out... so I turned my computer off and "temporarily" moved my 24 inch monitor over next to her 24 inch
I know now why I found so many questions/complaints about setting up a dual monitor system
Hardware is easy...  simply connect the 2nd monitor to the 2nd output... program/logic is NOT intuitive at all, so it took me about half an hour of clicking around to get things set up and working properly
Right now, I have borrowed "her" 2nd monitor back to check email and messages this morning, and as soon as I finish here my computer goes dark again so I can put "her" 2nd monitor back in place
Of course the good thing is... later today I go to Costco (only local store I could find with one in stock) to buy a 27 inch monitor for my side of the office

  • How to discontinue Dual Monitor

I can't seem to figure out how to discontinue using my dual monitors on my G4 OS 9. I installed an additional video card about a year ago for Pro Tools use. I'm now selling the G4, but can't seem to get the monitor to work without both hooked up. Otherwise, I get a blank screen. I've tried mirroring, split, moving the icon happy face, but I'm unsuccessful.

  • Dual monitor for M Series ThinkCentre with Intel hd graphics + i5 650 processor?

I have a  M Series (My guess it is M90) ThinkCentre desktop with Intel hd graphics + i5 650 processor (detailed info in pictures below), one vga port on the central unit, I would like to upgrade dual monitors to extend desk.
I checked online, someone said a Intel hd graphics doesn't support dual monitor, but some said yes. My questions are:
1, could I upgrade to dual monitors with the Intel hd Graphics+i5 650 processor instead of upgrading a ATI video card?
2, if 1 is yes, can I attach a vga 15-pin splitter to connect dual monitors? Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

That model does support 2 monitors, the 2nd using the DisplayPort (DP.)   Not many monitors support DP as yet, if needed, a DP to DVI, HDMI or VGA can be bought.   Lenovo sells them, or I also recommend an AMD approved adapter :
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/recommended/eyefinity-adapters
you need a single-link (if DVI), passive adapter.   And not mini-DP.
Search on "M90, monitor" in the search engine above right for more information.

  • Need videocard that supports dual monitors and Rotation -for PowerMac G5

I'm looking for a videocard that supports dual monitors and Rotation for PowerMac G5. I've got two Dell 2407WFP monitors rotated to 90 -I've been running an ATI Radeon X1900 256 pcie16 but apparently it is over heating -not even exactly sure if that indeed is the case but all the symptoms I've looked up online point to this problem. Anyways -just looking for a card that will do the job -I don't run games -this is just for work machine doing photoshop and related programs. Thanks for any help anyone may have!

    Hi-
A flashed card is a WinPC card that has been modified to accept a Mac ROM to provide for Mac compatibility.
Occasionally, soldering and other physical modifications are required.
Without this modification, a WinPC graphics card cannot be used in a MAc.
Without this modification, Mac users are limited to only a handful of used, OEM options.
The Geforce 7800 GS is the only 7800 card that may be used in a G5 (or G4).
The card must have been or be converted to Mac compatibility.
For dual monitors (DVI) the best performance choices are the Geforce 6800 Ultra (flashed or OEM), a rare, but occasionally available Geforce 6800 GT (flashed), an OEM Radeon X800XT (use ADC/DVI adapter on ADC port) a rare and expensive Radeon FireGL X800 (flashed).
These are the only performance oriented cards to offer dual digital display support.
For less demanding graphics work, an OEM Radeon 9650 offers dual digital output.
Other OEM graphics cards will have either DVI/DVI or ADC/DVI.
All OEM graphics cards are only available as used.
All cards are easiest to obtain on eBay.
Prices vary, but deals can be found.
Expect to pay $150-$325 for any of the cards listed.
Any card considered MUST be stated as Mac compatible, unless you are willing to research and learn how to perform the necessary modifications.

  • Fx5900SP and dual monitors

I thought I read somewhere that the fx5900SP would support dual monitors throught the 2 rear outputs (VGA and DVI). Does anyone know for sure that it will do this? Will it support 3 if I hook up the TV as well?
Also I have seen the bois flashes that are supposed to take this card to a 5950 ultra......I am very leary about screwing around with the bios of some thing that costs so much........and feedback on this as well?

    Hello Wan_Solo!
I had a 5900SP and all that  I can say is : Yes! it will support the dual monitors, but about the 3 you mentioned( vga+dvi+TV) I don't know how it will work 'cause I'd never tried...
But please DON'T try to flash it to an ultra (personal experience) 'cause it has a 2.8 ns memory. The memory will not work properly with the Ultra frequencies (450/900 if I remind well). The 5950Ultra has a 2.0ns memory and the 5900 TD-128 model have 2.2ns memory(very close, that's why it works) but not the 5900SP.
I hope it was useful. See ya.

I want to connect my 21.5-inch, Mid 2010 iMac to my 13-inch, Mid 2010 MacBook Pro and run dual monitors with the cable because they don't have thunderbolt plugs. • Dual Monitor Support

Not sure if this one can be anwsered yet, but curious to know if there is a way to hook up dual monitors on the new Mac Pro cylinders?  I don't mean just mirroring either. I have worked with dual monitors for a very longtime. One I use for my workspace and the other I use for tool palettes. I see that there is only one HDMI port on the new computers and I use DVI monitors. I really don't want to have to buy new monitors if I get one of these.

DVI can be converted to/from HDMI with a simple "all wires" adapter or cable.
Mini DisplayPort can fall back to DVI mode by asserting a control lead on the Interface, so another simple adapter.
ThunderBolt display mode is fully compatible with Mini DisplayPort.
So with the right adapters, you should be able to get six displays working.

  • Dual Monitors on Mac Mini Late 2014 not working on Dell S2340Lc

    Hey guys,
Got a mac mini and using it mainly for work. Working for an ISP and no one has used macs and I've opted to be the poor sucker that gets to deal with old people that don't know how to mac very goodly.
I have two Dell S2340Lc monitors. I have one connected up via HDMI and that works perfectly fine. I turned off the mac, I plugged in Monitor 2 with a MiniDP/Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter, powered on the mac and whilst it was booting, it had the Apple logo and the loading bar on the Dell display plugged in to the thunderbolt to hdmi adapter and then once it loaded up the log in screen, it went to the HDMI display. I logged in and in the displays section, the monitor plugged in to the thunderbolt to hdmi adapter isn't being detected, however I can plug it in to a Samsung 55 Inch Smart TV and it works just fine. I can set up dual monitors between the TV and the monitor in HDMI, but the Dell S2340Lc will only work with a HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the mac mini and will not work through the thunderbolt to hdmi adapter. On the display it just says that there is no signal coming from the computer.
Just wondering if any of you apple gurus had any ideas as to why this isn't working?
    Thanks!
