Dual Montior setup for x2401 LED Backlit Monitor

I just purchased two x2401 LED Backlit monitors. They are connected via Lenovo dual display adapter to my Dell OptePlex 3020. Both montiors are recognized as Display 1. I have gone to the control panel and attempted to set-up one monitor as the main monitor and the other as an extention. That didn't work. Right now the samethings is on both montiors. Sort of defeats the purpose of two monitors.
Anyone know how to have the monitors recognized as different?

Simplest dual-WAN setup for LRT224 ?

Hi folks
Hope someone can help with some insight / advice here.
First, some background :
For a while I’ve been using a conventional ADSL modem-router device to connect to my primary ISP, and thereby provide internet connectivity to a number of desktop PCs, laptops and other mobile devices in a small office environment. I plug the “output” (LAN port) of the ADSL modem-router into a switch, and I also plug a dual-band wireless access point (WAP) into the switch to provide wireless access for the mobile devices. Generally this all works fine.
One problem of course is that if/when my ISP goes down - which does happen occasionally - I have no internet. Also, I am starting to need extra bandwidth, and ADSL connectivity has pretty much reached its speed ceiling in my area. So I’ve been looking at ways of providing redundancy and higher speed by having multiple connections, possibly with different technologies and different ISPs. One option is to go with multiple ADSL connections; another (perhaps better) option is to go with a high-speed fixed-wireless (LTE) connection. With LTE, I can easily get over 30Mbps, so I’ve gone with that option for now. FTTH may be an option on the future. Obviously I needed a 2- or 3-WAN router device to do the connection management.
I had a preference for a dual-WAN router that isn’t tied to any particular communication technology (like ADSL, or VDSL) to give a degree of future-proofing for new technologies like FTTH. I prefer modem devices that have a conventional ethernet port as an output, and hence router devices that have ethernet ports for WAN inputs. This eliminates “combined” devices like Draytek’s “Vigor” ADSL+WAN modem-routers, or routers that have provision to connect a USB 3G stick modem for failover.
While shopping around, I looked at options like the Cisco RV042/043, the Peplink Balance 20/30, and the Belkin/Linksys LRT224. The LRT224 seemed to offer a reasonable compromise between price, features and performance, so I went with it.
Both my CPE devices are combined modem-routers that completely manage the connection to their respective ISPs, presenting me simply with an ethernet port (or ports) for connection to my local LAN. Specifically, I’m using a D-Link DSL-2500U ADSL modem (1 LAN port) and a Huawei B593s-601 LTE modem (4 LAN ports). Both include the usual functions such as DHCP server, NAT, firewall etc. Previously I’d always give the ADSL modem a fixed IP, and then it let it handle DHCP for the whole of the downstream network. So far, so good.
My requirements for now are pretty straightforward :
- Simple failover operation, ie if one ISP (WAN) goes down, the router should transparently and quickly re-route traffic to the other ISP.
- Load-balancing, ie the ability to apportion traffic between the two ISPs according to a number of different algorithms. Ideally I would want to see options like : equal traffic (bytes) per ISP, % traffic split (eg 60:40), pro-rata split based on connection speed or latency, etc etc ..
- Ability to log into the ‘Web control panel for any of the three devices (LTE modem, ADSL mode, or dual-WAN router) directly from the office LAN without unplugging or re-cabling anything.
- I've no need to use the VPN functionality on the LRT224 at the moment, though that might come later.
Here’s where I need some input and help :
So far, the only way I’ve been able to get this all to work together is as follows :
1) Set up the ADSL modem with a fixed IP of 192.168.1.1 and let it do DHCP on a range like 192.168.1.50/149.
2) Set up the LTE modem with a fixed IP of 192.168.2.1 and let it do DHCP on a range like 192.168.2.50/149.
3) Set up the LRT224 to get WAN-side IP’s from the upstream devices on both WAN1 and WAN2.
4) Set the LRT224 in “Gateway” mode.
5) Set up the LRT224 with a fixed IP of 192.168.0.1, and to issue downstream DHCP IP addresses in the range 192.168.0.50/149.
What I've noticed in trying to get this all to work is the following:
6) This only works (and gives visibility of all 3 devices) when the two modem devices are on different subnets (like 192.168.1.x and 192.168.2.x). Trying to put them both on the same subnet as the downstream side (all on 192.168.0.x) just doesn't work, or one device is not visible.
7) This only works with the LRT224 in "Gateway" mode, even though "Router" mode seems more fitting.
The setup given above (1 through 5) does work, and gives a situation like the following :
Failover works OK, and I can see any of the three edvices from the office LAN by connecting to any of the assigned IPs.
However, the problem is that the throughput really sucks.
If I connect the LTE modem (only) direct into the office LAN, I get in excess of 20Mbps downlink speed. However, when connecting via the LRT224, I don't even get half that speed, even if the LRT224 is in simple failover mode and the ADSL modem is turned off or out of the picture.
Given that the LRT224 isn't "processing" the packets at all, and there's no VPN overhead, I find it hard to understand why it sucks up over 50% of the throughput. Also, the reviews I read on the LRT224 listed throughputs in the hundreds of Mbps, so this really shouldn't even be a factor. Also, having the LRT224 eat half the throughput partly defeats the one object (higher speed).
So my question is : Is the above setup really the way to do what I want ? Or is there a better way ? The upstream arrangements with dual DHCP on different subnets seems overly complex. Is there a simpler way with PPoE, or PPTP, etc ?
What might I be doing wrong ?

Thanks for the suggestions, guys; although I've pretty much covered all of those things.
For info :
1) The router came with firmware v1.0.0.9 (Nov 25, 2013 - the initial release), but I have updated it to the latest v1.0.2.06 (Mar 28, 2014). (This is the third release in 4 months, so it seems Linksys is working fairly actively on LRT2x4 firmware).
2) I have the "Maximum Bandwidth" figures (reached at Configuration / System Management / Bandwidth Management) set to the appropriate values, including a maximum downstream value of 61 440kbps (60Mbps) for the WAN port to which the LTE modem is connected. My understanding, though, is that the LRT224 doesn't DO anything with this information unless there are one or more bandwidth management policies set. (My understanding may be wrong, and the manual isn't much help). I have no bandwidth management policies set.
3) I did try disabling all of the firewall rules as suggested by Flybyknight - no improvement.
One interesting (and unintended / undesired) consequence of my setup is that I can only "see" the configuration pages (web interfaces) for both upstream modems (ADSL and LTE) when the router is in "Load Balance" mode. If it is in "Failover" mode and the primary WAN is up, then I can't see the modem on the secondary (failover) WAN. I assume this is because traffic is only being routed to the active WAN port.
I guess my uncertainty is more about the upstream setup, ie the way in which the upsream-facing WAN ports on the LRT are configured to talk to the downstream-facing LAN ports on the respective modems.
The user guide for the LRT224 is really poor, unfortunately. It doesn't explain the actual workings of the various features at all. For instance, it does not explain what the ACTUAL working of "load balance" is. Does the device route the same amount of traffic (bytes) to both WAN ports, or does it do so in proportion to their configured speeds ? Proper explanations for these features are really indispensable! Belkin/Linksys, are you listening ??

I use my monitor when im capturing game footage for a youtube channel. However evertime i try to capture olde games the message 'input signal out of range' pops up. i dont understand! the game looks fine on the screen but that message is in the way! is there anyway to turn it off?

I have researched your error and usually the cause is a higher screen resolution then what the monitor is capable of or corrupt graphic drivers. I would suggest reinstall or updating your graphic drivers. Are you using an HP PC? If so, what is your product number? What program are you using to capture the video.

Pavalion 27xi IPS led backlit Monitor

my monitor has a black edge 3/8 of a inch on the sides and top, tech says that's the way it is suppose to be. I can't believe they would build a monitor and leave a edge like that. I have windows 8.1 I have tried it with DVI-HDMI-VGA all work the same. build date sept.2013
I just need to know if People with the same monitor has the black edge same as mine.

You are correct, you should have a full display. Have you upgraded to Win 8.1?
Explain upgrade path. There are many variables involved. Graphics drivers have caused issues.
Best guess is incorrect Nvidia drivers or setttings in Nvidia Control Panel.
Here is a link to current Nvidia drivers for Win 8.1 64 bit drivers for a 630 card.
Using this link, Select "start search", then select "Geforce R331 Game Ready Driver" - WHQL 11-19-2013.

Hp pavilion 27xi ips led backlit monitor

have windows 8.1, nividia GTX 660 GRAPHICS CARD, and all of a sudden I started getting a every 3-4 second flicker on the screen. Anyone else have this issue? And able to fix it? I have updated and checked all drivers, even did a system restore to an earlier date when there was no flicker, but no luck on fixing the issue.

HP E271i LED backlit monitor backlight not on // IS NOW FLICKERNIG

I have a HP E27i monitor. Received it yesterday and it was working fine, but as I came to turn it on today the backlight doesn't seem to turn on. Under a bright light there is a very dim image of my desktop and I have tried connecting the monitor to another computer - same result.

It has just been sitting there, powered on for a while. As I moved the mouse the picture got slightly brighter and is flickering. This is a new development.

Nouveau graphical tearing, dual-head setup

I currently experience tearing while using the Nouveau drivers for my NVidia card. I experienced the same (or a similar) tearing issue while using the proprietary drivers, which, along with the inherent incompatibility with most of the linux graphics stack, led me to switch to Nouveau.
I'm using the 3D support from nouveau-dri along with xf86-video-nouveau and the most recent Gnome 3 build in the official repositories.
I have a dual-head setup with one 1024x768 IBM monitor to the left of a 1920x1080 Dell monitor. Both report 60Hz vertical refresh rate in their configuration menus.
So far, my attempts to solve this problem have consisted of the following steps:
1. Use a minimal xorg.conf and configure everything using the integrated Gnome display settings utility. The minimal xorg.conf was as follows:

I do not experience the same issue when booted to Windows 7, using the most recent official NVidia drivers.

Hello. I have the same problem. Not just on Arch. I've had this problem with many distros, graphics cards, and drivers across the board. Installing the proprietary nvidia driver fixes the video tearing (vsync) issue for me. However; A) it's Linux, I don't want to use proprietary anything (otherwise I'd be on a Mac); and B) the proprietary driver will not flip my display to portrait anyway.
I basically have the same setup as Meyermagic. One GeForce 8600 GT, Two monitors (identical acers) 1680x1050 (oriented in portrait so 1050x1680 if you like), using open source Nouveau driver, created a minimal xorg file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nouveau.conf

Both monitors have a refresh rate of 60Hz. I still get really bad tearing as I drag windows across the screens.
Again, I've had this issue with almost every Linux box I've built (the only time this is not even remotely an issue is on my Thinkpad T400 using the Intel graphics). I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong or I've just had bad luck because it is nearly impossible to find any support for this on any forum anywhere. Anything I do find is either a thread like this where someone asked the question and simply never got a response. Or it is some out-of-date forum that give you 10 ways to modify the xorg.conf none of which make any sense or don't work. Not to mention that xorg.conf is now depreciated anyways.
Seriously, even if there is a wiki that concisely explains in excruciating detail how to actually modify the xorg conf files then I could figure it out for myself but I can't find that anywhere which makes me feel really stupid because I know it has to be out there. If there isn't an xorg wiki or xorg.com site or something that explains how to use the thing then I'm not sure I want to live on this planet anymore.
If anyone can help in any way please do.

Resolution options for Pavilion IPS 23bw monitor

Will this monitor only operation in 1920 x 1080? Apparently my video card (Radeon 4350) does not support this resolution.
I did install new card drivers, but still no option for this. Is there any way to use in another resolution, or do I need to upgrade video card?

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion 23bw 23-inch IPS LED Monitor and here is the User Guide for this model. Based on this information, this model supports a recommended and maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz. According to the user guide, this model should also support the use of the following resolutions;
640 x 480 @ 59.94
720 x 400 @ 70.087
800 × 600 @ 60.317
1024 × 768 @ 60
1280 × 720 @ 60
1280 × 1024 @ 60.02
1440 × 900 @ 59.887
1600 × 900 @ 60

You may also need to install the HP Pavilion 23bw IPS LED Backlit Monitor Driver to achieve full compatibility and it is possible that the AMD/ATI Radeon HD 4350 won't fully support this monitor.

Can hpled 20 inch backlit monitor be used on a mac?

I have an hp 20-inch led backlit monitor but cannot get it to work on my macbook.
(it does work on my microsoft computer. I get just the background pic on the desktop, but
nothing else comes thru. is it possible?

How did you set up external display with Preferences > Display?

T400 vs T500 Screen Resolution (LED backlit)

It's nice to see that LED backlight is now available for both the ThinkPad T400 and T500.
However the T400/T500 Notebook Specifications indicate the following resolutions for the LED backlit screens:
T400 WXGA+ 1680 x 1050 129 dpi 200+ nit
T500 WXGA 1280 x 800 98 dpi 185+ nit
I'm wondering why the larger screen has the lower resolution, and also why illumination is not as good.
Are these specs correct?

Yes, it's nice to see the LED backlight option available for the T500 model. I had hoped for higher resolution to match what I have on my 15" Macbook Pro at 1440x900 and it was a concern for me when I was trying to decide on which option for the screen to go with my T500.
I thought I might regret my choice but after receiving my T500 I'm extremely happy with the LED backlight option even it's resolution is a little lower.
If one decides to place the the higher resolution screen on the Macbook Pro beside the T500 you'll probably notice the slight difference in resolution with the text and windows. But in real life I don't think you'll spend time with your head inches away from the screen studying the pixel difference.
Even thought the LED WXGA screen on the T500 is only 1280 x 800 I'm very happy with it.

Need help with dual monitor setup for KDE 3.5.5.

Thanks for your help guys, I'm halfway there.
The second monitor shows the KDE desktop, but it isn't exactly what I expected. Right now, both monitors display at 1024x768 (each) or 2048x768 (total). The larger monitor stretches and distorts the display of 1024x768 to its natural resolution at 1440x900 and it isn't what I wanted. Other than that, the dual desktop setup behaves what I expected to.

EDIT: Oh snaps. I just did a pacman -Syu and it upgraded Arch Linux to 0.8 and the 2nd monitor stopped working.

Is $1019 a good price?

Can you tell me why you don't think its a good buy? Someone bought it that must have thought it was a good buy? You?!!!
I had a macbook pro, spilled an entire latte on it. Cannot afford to drop another 1500 on a new one. I understand the air is a great machine. And for someone that is hard on equipment (aside from liquid!) with no moving parts its a better option. This one is priced at $929 - good?
