  • Re: Dual Band PCI Card for Satellite C660

Hello, please can someone suggest any dual band PCI card for Satellite C660
    thanks

    >Dose it mean this forum if not supported by Toshiba?
Buddy, its a user to user community
    Regarding the miniPCI WLan card:
Such part upgrade is not officially supported and therefore details about compatible cards are not available.
But from my knowledge many different notebook series have been equipped with different WLan card from Realtek, Intel and Atheros.
Probably such cards would be compatible even if they are not listed officially as supported part.

  • Question about dual-monitor setup - advanced dock + PCIe card

I just got a Z60t at work. I had been using a dual monitor setup, but it doesn't look like my current config is going to fly w/ the new machine. Anyway, here's what I've got:
Primary monitor: Acer AL2416W (1920x1200 DVI)
Secondary monitor: Dell 1901FP (1280x1024 VGA)
I've read that the advanced dock might be able to let me use this setup with the Z60t if i put a PCIe video card in it. So here are my questions:
    1. Will the advanced dock + PCIe video card allow me to run the two monitors listed above (I don't use the laptop screen at all)?
    2. Which PCIe cards are compatible with the advanced dock?
    3. Can I achieve the same resolutions with the advanced dock + PCIe card?
    4. Will I need to split the VGA output, or can i use VGA + DVI like I do now (since the Z60t has no native DVI support)?
    thanks!

Gary -- don't turn on the OS Display Mirroring.  Turn it off.
You want Aperture to control how it uses your dual monitors.  (You do not want the OS to determine it.)
Once you've turned off the OS "Display Mirroring", the set-up I specified above should give you what you want.
    That set-up is:
    "View → Main Viewer → {anything}", and
"View → Secondary Viewer → Alternate"
You must have the Viewer active (not the Browser) in order to change the "Secondary Viewer" setting.  If you are in the Browser, activate the Viewer by double-clicking an Image.
Let me know if that doesn't work.

  • M5000 - PCI Cards Installed in IOBoat 1 of IOU Not Recognised by OS

    Hi,
We have one M5000 with 6 CPUs & we have created 4 Domains (D0 - 2CPUs, D1-1CPU, D2-1CPU & D3-2CPUs). We have been provided 2 Nos. of External IOU Units with IO Boat 0 & 1 installed. The idea is to connect IO-Boat 0 to Domain 0 & IO-Boat 1 to Domain 1 of the first IOU Unit & IO-Boat 0 to Domain 2, IO-Boat 1 to Domain 3 of the second IOU Unit.
    Issues being faced:
    1. The Dual GigE PCI Cards installed in the IO-Boat1 (1st IOU) connected to the Domain-1 are not recognized by the OS.
    2. The Dual GigE PCI Cards installed in the IO-Boat1 (2nd IOU)connected to the Domain-2 are not recognized by the OS.
    Request assistance with these issues.

    Hi Sachin,
Most likely answer to your question is you need to know domain configuration knowledge on the M-series servers.
I suppose you have configured the XSB (eXtended System Board ) in Quad mode so as to configure 4 domain on the M5000. You may check the showsb and showdcl on the XSCF prompt to verify this.
After you have configured XSBs, you need to understand what are the slots of IOU available to each XSBs. Pls refer XSCF user's guide and M-series server administration guide ( http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/prod/sparc.m5k~m5000-sw#hic) for further information.
Once you understand this, insert the link card in the available slot to particular domain and connect it to corresponding IO boat on the expansion box side.
IO expansion unit documentation is available @ http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/coll/io-xpnsn-hw?l=en
Let me know if this makes sense...
    Thx

  • USB 2.0 PCI cards

I've got an old Power Mac G4 Quicksilver, which means I don't have USB 2.0 ports. I'm not sure the new printer I'm getting supports anything older than USB 2.0, so I'm looking at some of the USB 2.0 PCI cards. I'm finding them for, like, $12, which seems like no big deal.
My machine's obviously nowhere near new, tho', so I want to make sure these PCI cards are compatible. The cards' specs say "Compliant with PCI specification 2.2," for example, but I can't find any Apple specs that would tell me whether that means they would work in my Quicksilver. Any ideas?

Thanks -- that's good to know (about the USB 1.1/2.0 backwards compatibility). Some printers I'd seen listed only USB 2.0 compatibility, others listed 1.0 and 2.0, so I wasn't sure. I'll wait and try out the new printer before I start worrying about other options.
Now, should push come to shove, the PCI card I'd been looking at was definitely Mac compatible (listed as such, available through Macmall.com). And as I went on safari though Apple's support site, I did finally find the "Setting up your Mac" manual for my Quicksilver.
Hidden on Page 80 of that I found instructions to "install only expansion cards that come with Macintosh driver software and that comply with the PCI 2.1 standard." If I'm finding cards that comply with the PCI 2.2 standard, suppose I should expect them to work in my machine?

  • Dual-Net Bluetooth+802.11G PCI Card PC54GBT

Just checking to see if anybody knows when this K8N Neo accessory will be released??
It's designed to use the orange PCI slot on the K8N Neo and provide both Bluetooth and WiFi access points with only 1 antenna and 1 slot....
Here is the only pic I could find on the Net.

Sorry I was a little slow posting the results, but the shop phil86 directed me to was prompt, and sent me back a response the next day.  Sounds like a good place to deal with, however they don't sell the card by itself and shipping to the US is expensive.  Has anyone found a source that sells just the dual-net card?
As promised, here is the response Gladiator Computers sent back to me ...
Unfortunately at this time this product is not sold on its own, only as a bundle with the board. I have checked this previously with MSI.
The cost of shipping to USA for the board and card is £40.00
We are unable to accept payment via any type of card, only via cleared funds, a bank transfer for the full amount in GBP Sterling.
If you have any further questions please let us know.

  • Which eSata card is compatible for G5 dual?

I want to connect my LaCie 3T drive via eSata....does anyone know if the LaCie PCI card part #130823 is compatible? I've had a bit of trouble finding the right information, and I see others have too. I've got an older G5 that doesn't do PCI express. These are the computer specs: PowerPC G5 dual 2ghz (7,3), Mac OS X (10.4.5)
    Thanks

    Hi-
For a bootable SATA PCI controller, Firmtek Seritek cards are the best that you can get.
Excellent compatibility, and future proof with user updatable firmware, should the need arise.

    Hey all,
ok, i want the MSI Dual-Net Card...i have HEARD that you need the MSI Communications Slot for it to work...is that true???

I cant even use "Find device". I'm trying to connect to a cellphone which has bluetooth ( Ericsson k700i ).
yep, thats wat i have...and its the BEST Bluetooth software i've used...we have 3 Bluetooth USB Dongles in my house, and the software for them all (compared to this) is...well, just crap...
did u plug in the USB header??? for the bluetooth to work, it has to be connected to a USB header on the motherboard...
and i assume you've checked device manager to make sure the driver is installed...if not, do it...
BTW, i know wat was wrong with my Wireless Network...i had the Wireless Antenna and Bluetooth Antenna plugged into the wrong places      now my wireless has full strength!

  • Recommendations? USB 2.0 & Firewire PCI card for MDD Dual Boot G4 (1.25 Ghz

Can anyone recommend a good USB 2.0 and Firewire combo PCI card? (at least 3 USB 2.0 ports and 2 FW) for my G4 MDD Dual Boot- 1.25 Ghz)?
I have an Orangelink+ Micro USB 2.0/FW PCI card from the days of OS 9- that's supposed to be USB 2.0 under OS X, but isn't (it shows up as max 12/mbps in System Profiler). I'd like to get an external Hard Drive and most of them are USB 2.0 now.
    Another question:
Under system profiler, it shows that I have one USB 2.0 port. I'm assuming it's an internal port, because all of the external ports show transfer rates of 12mbps. Is this a correct assumption?
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • There is the Technisat SkyStar2 PCI card compatible?

    Hi!
I have a MegaPC 865 with an AGP Geforce MX440-SE grapichs card and I want to buy this DVB-S card, but I've read there's some problems when you connect it next to the AGP slot, but I don't know if this happends in this barebone...
    Anyone have try it?
    Thank you!
PD: Sorry for my poor english .

    Hi Stu!
The card isn't too big, I think that there's enough space for it. The really problem is some people says that if you put it in the PCI slot under the AGP (the Mega 865 has only one PCI slot) you may have some problems: maybe the card isn't recognized or maybe the computer don't start. But there's other people says that they not have this problem. In the official web (http://www.technisat.com/) says (for the skystar2):
    System requirements PCI-Devices
        * IBM compatible PC with Pentium III 700 MHz or higher
        * 1 available PCI slot (do not use the one directly under AGP graphic card)
I think that they have received some mail from people that has problems with their configuration, because I've read that it works in other cases.
If nobody have try it before, I'm going to be the first, hehehe. If the card doesn't run, I can put it in my PC.
    Thank you for you reply.
    Bye!

  • Is a PCI-488.2-1M card backwards compatible with the 488-1975 standard?

Is a PCI-488.2-1M card backwards compatible with the 488-1975 standard?

IEEE 488-1975 is one of the early revisions of the IEEE 488.1 stardard, other revisions include 488-1978 and 488.1-1987.
Because the original IEEE 488 document contained no guidelines for preferred syntax and format conventions, work continued on the specification to enhance system compatibility and configurability among test systems. This work resulted in a supplement standard, IEEE 488.2.
    So, both 488.1 and 488.2 support 488-1975
I checked the link and it is fine, make sure you have the right web browser settings.

  • Rev. A Beige G3 DT compatible with USB 2.0 PCI cards?

Having had a lot of luck upgrading and updating some old Sawtooth G4s I decided to try my hand at something more interesting - an old Rev. A Beige G3 that fortuitously dropped into my lap.
I tried installing a 5-port USB 2.0 card with an NEC chipset, since apparently NEC's chipsets are the most compatible chipsets with the Mac. However, I've been getting Type 11 errors on startup everytime. Curiously, an older 2-port USB card works fine.
So my main question is: has anyone else seen this occurring? Have other successfully used NEC-based USB 2.0 PCI cards on their Rev. A Beige G3s?

Sorry for the inordinately long time it took me to reply. The OS running on the G3 is 9.2.2.
After doing some digging around I discovered a trick with replacing the OS 9 USB adapter card extensions with those from the installer for USB Adapter Card 1.4.1 updater. What I did was that I took out of my extensions folder the following files: USB Authoring Support, USB Device Extension, USB Software Locator, and USBAppleMonitor. I then ran the 1.4.1 update, and everything seems to work - the computer recognized the card and USB mice and hard drives were detected by the system.
I'm normally not one for mixing and matching extensions, but I'm glad the card now works.

  • Which PCI USB 2.0 expansion card is compatible with my Power Mac G4?

I know its a PCI card with a NEC chip set but every card that I see online does not appear as if it would fit into the slots provided on the motherboard. It is a long strip...short strip...long strip kind of slot and all I see online is short strip...medium strip...short strip. I just want to know what the ACTUAL NAME of the expansion card is. Please help me upgrade from the ever so slow 1.1 USB to 2.0 USB. Thanks.

    Hi-
The actual name of the card that you want is a "USB 2.0 PCI Adapter".
The PCI slots are configured to accept different PCI cards for different purposes, each with slightly different pin configurations.
As long as a PCI card is PCI, not PCI Express, or PCI-X, it will conform to the PCI standard to which the PCI slots are configured, and fit.
There may be unused pins in the slot, and this is not a problem.

  • IPod touch will not work with USB 2.0 PCI Card?

I have a dual processor PowerMac G4 that has USB 2.0 via a PCI card. When I plug in the iPod nothing at all happens. I haven't read anything about PCI cards not being compatible with the touch. Is anyone else having this problem?

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents...I've got the same problem...I've had a Keyspan USB 2.0 5 port card in my Dual MDD G4 for years and it's worked fine. Well, until a few days ago when I tried updating some stuff on our iPods. It would initially start working then lose connection. Now nothing at all with 5 iPods. It won't even show up on the desktop under Disk Mode. I did the same and it works fine under the old stock USB 1.0 but slooooooowwww. Is this yet another problem with Leopard? I've searched the Keyspan site and they don't have any updated drivers. Guess I'll look for a Belkin as well...ugh!!! Leopard is horrible! First no printer drivers, then no iSub support, now this!
