Dual-screen with Mac mini 2012 ?

Hi,
I'd like to set-up a dual-screen on a Mac mini (2012), is it possible to use 2 HDMI monitors (1 to the HDMI output and the other to the Thunderbolt output with a HDMI adapter) ?
Thanks,
Sylvain

Yes, that's perfectly doable. that's the way mine are set up.

  • Dual screens with mac mini with a samsung 24in 245bw screens.  How do I make this happen

I just bought a Mac mini.  I have two samsung 245bw 24in screens.  What do I need to buy to have dual screens.

You will need to use the supplied HDMI to DVI Adapter for one, then for the second you will need a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.) plugged into the combination Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort.

  • Can I still use Appleworks 6.2.9 with Mac Mini 2012?

Can I still use Appleworks 6.2.9 with Mac Mini 2012?

Yes, MlchaelLAX, the KVM switch allow one to use one monitor, one keyboard, and one mouse between two computers.  It has been so long that I'm not sure how to find the MODELS to the G4 and G5. Unless you mean what makes the Mac tick.  The G5 is a dual 2GHz PowerPC, with 2 GB DDR SDRAM.  The G4 is a bit slower, will look tomorrow.
I want/need a newer Mac model because unlike the days before OS X, all software was included as the newer OS were added, not so today.  I'm still using Tiger because I still use a couple programs from the old days.  When I eventually purchase a new model, I will have to buy all new software.  That's find if one has plenty of money and wants to learn everything from scratch, but I'm hanging on as long as I can.
I tried TenFourFox, but it didn't allow video, of course since I tried Michael's suggestion, the video might not be an issue.  So far, every thing works the way it should.
I have a lot of faith in Mac users, their loyalties to Apple is what kept Apple floating when many thought it would sink.  These folks are survivors; I only wish the apple people on the top appreciated that loyalty today, but I guess things are too good.
Thanks to all for you kindness.  Tomorrow I will show my husband how to remove his yellow threat on his G4.  If anyone can answer any other questions, please know I will keep viewing this post.

  • Maximising 2 programs using dual screen on mac mini.

I am using a mac mini with 2 screens and am trying to use it like my pc. I want to maximise a program on one screen and keep the second screen free to do the same. This works well on pc but not with my mini?
When I mazimise one program it creates a grey image on my second screen, making it useless for anything else.
Is it possible to maximise 2 programs (one on each screen) as is easily done on a pc?
    How does this work?
    Thank you.

It depends on the App's and setup that you are using..?
Have a look at > Using Dual Displays on Mac OS X: The Experience
or something at > Dual Monitor Setup with Apple Mac Mini-YouTube
It's hard to fully explain, but from what I'm seeing not all App's allow full screen mode without interfering with the dual screen setup and you might have to run most App's in maximum window size instead.

  • Using 1.920 x 1.080 pixel panasonic plasma screen with Mac Mini Intel

Do you know if i can connect a mac mini
with a belkin "dvi to hdmi" cable
    to a panasonic plasma screen with a 1.920 x 1.080 resolution (screen 42 inches)?
I thought the screen was too big, but some friend told me that the resolution i supported by the mac mini.
    thanks.

Yes, specs-wise the TV is able to be driven by the Mac mini both via DVI and VGA.

  • What Touch Screen with Mac Mini?

I need to set up a Mini with a Touch Screen to create a kiosk environment. It will have a card reader attached as well -- for student check-ins.
Aspect ratio doesn't matter nor does resolution. Size can be anything from 17" to 20".
Mini has DVI port, is a recent model (Core 2 Duo), Intel GMA 950 video.
Has anybody had any experience with touch screens on a Mac? What brands to look at? What to avoid?
    Thanks
    :O:

I'm currently developing a touchscreen application to control television broadcast equipment using a Mac Mini (OS v10.5.2) and an Elotouch screen.
Both units fresh from China or wherever they're built.
The USB touch driver (v04.00.02) works fine when first installed.
But when the OSX Software Update is run, the touch driver fails.
I don't know why... might have something to do with those Elo clowns putting their stuff in a folder at the root of the hard drive. Who knows.
"Removing this device" (the red arrow in the elotouch UPPD Console App) and "adding" the device back made it work again. It required a reboot and running the Elo recalibration utility.
and now my 2 cents worth:
Mac Minis are great for custom applications that are typically put on embedded boards. The low cost per unit, ease of development and relatively tiny form factor make them the perfect "stick up" device that you can wedge just about anywhere.
The location I'm installing this particular solution specifies Mac or Linux OS. Due to security concerns, Windows boxes aren't allowed unless there is no other option available for a particular application.
I'm building 2 identical units for a 24-7 system. So if/when the first one smokes itself in 1-to-5 years, the 2nd one gets swapped in. Using an external net share to hold a few K of data, the control system comes back on line in a few short minutes.
Dirt cheap redundancy (compared to the other NASA-like gigabuck systems in place here.)
Mac Minis rock. As long as they keep making them, they will continue to be my first choice for "embedded" systems (that require fancy interfaces.)

  • Cannot output audio via headphone jacks with Mac Mini (2012) and Boot Camp

    Hi all,
I have a brand new (2012) Mac Mini with a Boot Camp partition running Windows 7.  It's connected directly to an HDTV via HDMI cable.  I have external speakers hooked through the headphone jack on the back.  The speakers work fine if I'm in the Mac environment, but I cannot get the audio output to go through the headphone jack while in Boot Camp/Windows- it will only go through the speakers on the TV.  Any suggestions?  I think I've downloaded every driver I can think of, and the installation of Windows on the Boot Camp partition went well otherwise.  Thanks.
    John

Nevermind, I was missing one driver.  Installed it, fixed.

  • Dual Displays with Mac Mini

    Hi,
I have 2 identical BENQ G2420HDB (24") displays, and am looking at getting a new desktop computer. My thought was to go with the Mac Mini but I need to ensure compatibility.
Currently one is plugged into my Mac Book Pro 2.33 (one of the first Duo Core 2) and it reports a natural resolution of 1920x1080 (Normal HD), and wish to use both displays with the new computer. Will a Mac Mini support both monitors as extended desktop in this resolution? If so what adapters (if any) do I need to buy with the Mac Mini? The inputs on the monitors are: DVI, VGA. Is there an minimum model of Mac Mini that I would need to get?
    Thanks,
    Michelle

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
The Mac mini has two video ports; mini-DVI and mini-DisplayPort. The mini ships with an Apple mini-DVI to DVI-D adapter. You could also purchase a mini-DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter and then use DVI-D cables to connect the adapters to your displays' DVI-D ports. This setup can support up to 1920 x 1200 pixels, and can be configured in extended desktop mode.

  • Watching downloaded movies on big screen with mac mini

Has anyone hooked up a mac to a big screen (dlp, lcd, plasma) tv? If so is video quality good? Would it be a good alternative to subscribing to cable or satelite to watch tv programs or movies?

Not sure why you asked the question here since it has nothing to do with the AirPort Express (AX) nor wireless networking.
You should post your question in the iPod touch discussion area.

  • I am stuck with a blue screen with Mac mini

One of the minis in my department is stuck on blue screen right after startup. I can see the grey apple but it gets stuck on blue screen. Other users in network can see the hard drive and connect to it, but the mini won't go to the desktop screen. Operating system for this mini is 10.4.11

Hi Boece, I tried the safe mode and it's not working. After I type in the password I get the message that it's logging in. The screen changes to blue and then recycle back to the safe mode log in screen. I know I used the correct password because if I purposely type in the wrong one, the window will just shake and clear whatever I typed in. Do you have any other helpful ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like you may have a hardware problem since it won't read from DVD, and it is only a year and a half old.  Hopefully all it is, is bad RAM*:

There are very specific requirements for using an iMac as an external display.
From Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Apple Support
What are the requirements for TDM?
A Mac notebook or desktop with a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt connection
A Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort cable
A supported iMac with OS X 10.6.1 or later. The table below shows iMac computers that support TDM, the required cables, and the port of the computer to which you are connecting the iMac.
    iMac Model
    Cable Supported
    Port on Source Computer
    iMac (27-inch Late 2009)
    Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort
    Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt
    iMac (27-inch Mid 2010)
    Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort
    Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt
    iMac (Mid 2011)
    Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt
    Thunderbolt
    iMac (Mid 2012 and later)
    Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt

Note that the iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) does not support Target Display Mode.

  • Is isight external camera compatible with mac mini?

I just bought an old isight camera from ebay. I used a firewire 800 to 400 cable to connect to my late 2012 mac mini. I test to cam using facetime but the screen said no camera connected. So I connect the isight with my old macbook to test the camera, and the connection is fine.
I wonder if the old isight cam is still compatible with mac mini. If so, that might be the problem of the fire 800 to 400 cable.

Other users, including myself, could not get the barrel iSight camera to work on the 2012 Min with Mavericks. It did work on my late 2009 Mini except the mic did not work. It does work on my late 2013 Mac Pro desktop except again, that the mic does not work.

  • HT204291 Apple TV 3rd generation. Bad image when mirroring second user's desktop from Mac mini 2012

    Hello All,
There are Mac Mini 2012 with OS X 10.8.2 and Apple TV 3rd G with 5.2 (6010.96). There are 2 users on the Mac.
The problem is when I start Mac Mini and log on with one user I am able to mirror the desktop. When I switch to another user and try to mirrow the desktop, I see bad image (image full of green artifacts) with good sound.
One user is admin. It does not matter which user is sharing the screen first. It is always the second one that will not be able to mirror the screen till Mac Mini is rebooted.
At the same time if I try to airplay something from iPhone or iPad, it goes well.
Please help to solve the problem.
    Kind Regards,
    Kirill

With update to OS X Mavericks the problem is gone
