Dual Screens using Airplay

I want to wirelessly present my Keynote on 2 screens.  Is there a way to airplay out of my ipad to 2 apple TVs simultaneously?  Or can I daisy chain it so that one Apple TV is displaying my iPad, and the other Apple TV displays the first Apple TV?

  • [Solved] no signal w/ second monitor and dual screen using nouveau, i3

    Hi!
I just brought my old screen to my room and try to make it work. It works when the other one is not connected, so no hardware problems. The result is that I can go to the right and do stuff and move the window to my working screen, but the monitor stays black and says "no signal". I tried a long time with nouveau but without success. I was not able to make the graphic card work with the propretary driver from the website and I don't want to downgrade the xorg-server to 1.12 to install nvidia-96xx...

I don't know what I should try. I haven't tried yet the "old-school" Xinerama stuff, but it seems tedious and error-prone...unless someone tells me that it is actually a different and possibly working approach I'm not going to try it. Any hint is welcome! :-)

    Hi!
Thanks for pointing out the repo..I did yaourt -Ss nvidia from the beginning and I didn't pay attention to the nvidia package. Sometimes archlinux is more user-friendly than one expects...
So now my second monitor works. :-)
    Moral of the story:
If you want to use the NVIDIA driver, read
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nvidia
And if it doesn't work, read
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nvidia
again, because maybe you missed something...

  • Dual screens using two iMacs - one ML, one SL

    Searched to no avail, so...
I happen to have an extra iMac (21.5) and thought it would look nice as a second monitor for my 27" iMac... The 27 is ML and the 21.5 is SL.
When I plug the mini display cable in, the 27" is always the "slave" to the 21.5.  Regardless of which is plugged in first.  The 27" never "sees" the 21.5 as a potential second monitor per the display preferences tab.
    Any thoughts?

Nobody?  Wow!  I've stumped the awesome Apple community?

  • Fit view to screen on AirPlay?

Any chance there's a way to fit the view in ACV or from the actual app on the screen using AirPlay/Apple TV? Is this going to be a feature in the future? I'd like to be able to use the apps made from DPS as sort of a presentation backdrop this way on some big screens.
Fit view to screen only works with vids as far as I know. iPad apps stay at the same dims.

There are two ways to Zoom the Display in and out.
One is holding the Control key, then Scrolling up and down with the Mouse or Track Pad.
The second is using a set of key commands.
In Mountain Lion, go to: "Apple > System Preferences > Accessibility" to make changes and/or familiarize yourself with the Zoom features.

This is something the app developer enables within airplay mirroring.
There is nothing you can do to enable that.

  • How to use airplay to display ipad slideshow on macmini screen

    iPad 3
    Mac Mini, Mountain Lion
    Airplay
    I do not have AppleTV.
I can play iPad's music through the Macmini, using Airplay.
I seem to be able to play a slideshow - the iPad shows it is playing to the macmini, but no picture appears on the screen.
Earlier, with an original iPad, and the same Macmini with O/S Lion, I was able to do slideshows on the TV via the macmini.
Can anyone explain what's gone wrong?

    Thanks Daniel,
    I'll try the suggestion asap!

I think you are sailing in uncharted waters with those kind of modifications.
I am only guessing, but if you have not already done so,  do a PRAM reset and then trash your FCP preferences.

I've also notice when I start the computer up, it stays on the grey screen longer than it did when I had the original card (512 mb).
My understanding is the Mac is doing a ram/hardware test during the grey screen, if the card you added had additional memory, then it is very likely the test will take longer - but I am no hardware expert.

  • Using Keynote with Podcast Capture and Dual Screens

    Hi everyone,
We are trying to use a dual screen setup to record some Keynote presentations using Podcast Capture (i.e Dual mode, with the Keynote presentation in one screen and the presenter in the other).
The problem we are having is that when in full screen mode, Keynote takes control of both displays, thus stopping the Podcast application from being displayed. Even if we switch off the Presenter Display on the second screen, the second screen turns black.
I know we can start and stop recording with hotkeys, but we would prefer to be able to see the Capture app in one window with the presentation full screen in the other.
Perhaps this is just an oversight on Apple's part, but I'm finding it hard to believe its not possible. If anyone else has a workaround then please share.
    Thanks.

Other applications are not visible when Keynote is playing back.  Keynote takes over control of the graphics system when playing back presentations to enable Keynote to display properly.
When I play back Keynote and I want to look at a second application, I use a second Mac.

  • Use airplay from my screen to apple TV?

My computer is Macbook pro mid 2010, i can use the airplay only from iTunes, is there any chance i can use airplay from my screen to apple TV by adding parts or driver?

I believe you have to have the 2012 model or newer.

  • Maximising 2 programs using dual screen on mac mini.

I am using a mac mini with 2 screens and am trying to use it like my pc. I want to maximise a program on one screen and keep the second screen free to do the same. This works well on pc but not with my mini?
When I mazimise one program it creates a grey image on my second screen, making it useless for anything else.
Is it possible to maximise 2 programs (one on each screen) as is easily done on a pc?
    How does this work?
    Thank you.

It depends on the App's and setup that you are using..?
Have a look at > Using Dual Displays on Mac OS X: The Experience
or something at > Dual Monitor Setup with Apple Mac Mini-YouTube
It's hard to fully explain, but from what I'm seeing not all App's allow full screen mode without interfering with the dual screen setup and you might have to run most App's in maximum window size instead.

  • Is it possible to have dual screens for two Pages documents or APPs? In a Windows system you use control left/right

When trying to work on multiple documents or apps, I like to have a dual screen where by i can see two things at once. This worked when I used  a Window's system by pressing Control left/right and i could use both at the same time.
Is this posible to do using a Mac Air?

both VMWare Fusion & Parallels Desktop for Mac can use a bootcamp Windows installation as VM exactly like you want.

  • New window opens in main monitor when using dual screen

I am using dual screens and my "main screen" is on the left. Ever since Firefox updated to 32.0.1 on Monday I've been having this issue. Before the update, I would have my main Firefox window opened on the left and, when I click on a link to open a new window, it would open on the right screen. Now, it will only open on the left screen, where the other window is. If I drag the original window to the right monitor and open a link, the new window will open on the right monitor. But once I drag the original window back to the left, new links will open in the left again.
Before if I had this problem, I would simply drag the new window to the right monitor, then back to the left and close it. Then click the link again and it would open in the right. Kind of a work around I guess. But since the update, even this will not work. Any suggestions? Or is this a new function of the updated version? Is there a way for me to go back to the previous version? Any help is appreciated!

    Hi hollytotheg,
I understand that links opening in new windows are opening in the active screen, not on the right, second monitor.
This may be helpful: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/monitor-master/] the search recommends this.
However I would also recommend suggesting an enhancement in input about dual monitor new window restriction.

There are very specific requirements for using an iMac as an external display.
From Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Apple Support
What are the requirements for TDM?
A Mac notebook or desktop with a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt connection
A Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort cable
A supported iMac with OS X 10.6.1 or later. The table below shows iMac computers that support TDM, the required cables, and the port of the computer to which you are connecting the iMac.
