Dual Stack NW 7.0 installation with R/3 Backend as UME
I have a quick question guys. I am about to install a dual stack NW system with ADS(SQL server database on windows) and will use a R/3 Enterprise running on unix as the UME datasource. Now this R/3 enterprise backend already acts as bakend for Portal system and uses sap logon tickets and as such already has the user SAPJSF. Now when i actually perform the NW 7.0 installation and enter a master password during the course, would this override the SAPJSF user in R/3 backend system at all.
What are the general problems that are caused with using an existing ABAP only system as the UME for your Java stack(Dual stack actually) systems. Can you advise.

Kalyan
Hi,
Now when i actually perform the NW 7.0 installation and enter a master password during the course,
would this override the SAPJSF user in R/3 backend system at all.
NO....Not at all..
SAPJSF user is used for the communication between ABAP and JAVA stacks. SAPJSF user is an independent user of each independent ABAP stack.
ABAP data/user-store is the place where the users, roles and authorizations of an ABAP System are stored.
And with the same concept, the UME is the same mechanism for users, roles, permissions of an JAVA system.
After installation of your new NW ABAP+JAVA Stack, you will have to specify the SAPJSF user of ur old R/3 ABAP system which you want to use as User Data Store for ur Newly installed Java System's UME.
In ABAP System section u will have to provide all details of ur SAP R/3 application server, which ur portal is already using as User Data Store.
What are the general problems that are caused with using an existing ABAP only system
as the UME for your Java stack(Dual stack actually) systems. Can you advise.
It depends on the usage of your new application server.

hi guys,
we plan to upgrade Enterprise Dual stack(ABAP+JAVA) System to EHP4 system.
In EHP4 upgrade document it says, No dual stack supported for EHP4 installation..was that mean
only for Installation or upgrade too.
Seperate SID is required for EHP4 system after upgrade? Please confirm.
thankshi jaichan,
yes, you are right ..For new installation of SAP ERP to EHP4 level, you cannot install dual stack system..i have read in sap note 855534..please find below the extract from this note:
As of SAP Business Suite 7, you can no longer install Dual Stack Application Systems (ABAP+Java).
If you want to use both SAP Business Suite ABAP and Java Components in your system landscape, you have to proceed as follows:
1. Install a separate ABAP-based SAP Business Suite system.
2. Install the required Java components in a separate Java-based SAP system.
3. Configure the connection of the Java-based SAP system to the ABAP-based SAP Business Suite back-end system.
The SAP Business Suite 7 comprises: EHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0, SAP CRM 7.0, SAP SCM 7.0, SAP PLM 7.0, SAP SRM 7.0
As of now you will find the latest recommendations at a central place in SDN:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/landscapedesign -> Distribution Models
You will also find information about the deployment of SAP NetWeaver usage types and the SAP Business Suite there.
but you can upgrade your previously installed SAP ERP dual stack system without having seperate SID's thing...
We have upgraded around 50 of our systems without any problem

Solman 7.1 dual stack homogenous System copy
Hi all,
I need to perform a solman 7.1 dual stack system copy from QA to sandbox system.
Can anybody let me know the steps involved in solman 7.1 dual stack system copy Procedure.
Thanks
VimalHi Vimal,
Please check:
"System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.1 Including Enhancement Package 1 Java (PI/XI)
SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 including Enhancement Package 1 - 2010/12/02" or 011000358700001317792010E.pdf
The best way to perform a system copy of a dual stack is to use sapinst with the backup/restore options. Install a plaine system an restore the db would not work. Sapinst exports also a lot of stuff from the filesystem repository.
1. Export actual SAP system using sapinst with option export ABAP+JAVA
2. Uninstall SAP+DB from actual server
3. Install SAP using option System Copy (Target system)
Thanks

SAP ECC 6.0 EHP4 installation with ABAP+JAVA stack
Hi,
I need to install SAP ECC6.0 EHP4 with ABAP+JAVA stack on windiws server 2008 with oracle.
I have read that for this, we need to install ECC 6.0 EHP4 ready and then upgrade to EHP4 using ehpi installer.
I have found the documents seperately for ABAP and JAVA stack and not for ABAP+JAVA.
I need clarifications on these.
1.Do we need to install ABAP and JAVA instances seperately with EHP4 and then upgrade(In that case I have to install both instances on single host)?
2.Should we give seperate <SID> for both instances and create seperate databases?
3.Hard disk requirement for this set up.(We have 150 GB including C drive)
4.Steps to perform after installing ECC6.0 EHP4 ready
5.Please send me the doc. if anyone has
Anyhelp would be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Surya> 1.In the installation document for EHP4 ready for SAP ERP 6.0 ABAP.It is mentioned that this installation contains only basic EHP4 for ERP 6.0 and we need to install additional EHP4 functionality in the SAP ERP 6.0 -EHP4 ready system.
> It states that atleast Support pacakge stack (SPS) 1 of SHP4 needs to be installed. So If I install this stack using EHPi installer in the post installation activities my SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 will be in place? Please confirm.
Yes..

> 2.Can I install SAP SR3 with dual stack and upgaradte it directly to EHP4 at a time?
Yes you can do it.....as SAP still supports dual stack ERP systems to EHP4

Is SAP PO 7.4 dual stack installation??
HI experts,
Could anyone let me know if SAP PO 7.4 is a dual stack installation or can we go for single stack as well.
As PI 7.4 is based on HANA , so while working on it shall we use ICO or old classic configuration. Shall we go for java based adapters(eg IDOC_AAE/HTTP_AAE) or old abap based adapter..
Thanks,To add few cents - May be your basis guys just read the title
Support for Dual-Stack discontinued in SAP NetWeaver 7.4 in general with exceptions
SAP NetWeaver 7.4 is positioned as the follow-up on-premise release for SAP NetWeaver 7.31.
SAP NetWeaver is among other things optimized for SAP HANA as the foundation for the SAP Business
Suite on SAP HANA project. This means that dual-stack deployments and implementations are not
supported any longer. The only exception to this rule is SAP NetWeaver Process Integration on a traditional
database system, which still requires a dual-stack implementation. However, note that a single-stack SAP
NetWeaver Process Integration Java exists that offers 95% of the features of classical dual-stack
implementations. Therefore, customers should investigate whether an existing SA

Hello,
we want to apply a new SP stack to a NW2004s (ECC 6.0) - dual stack (Java/ABAP) with PI(XI).
The ABAP stack is sucessfully patched yet,
but the Java stack needs still to be patched!
In the SPS guide for SPS 9 and some OSS notes you can read that during the patching of the Java stack, the whole system (ABAP and Java engine) are restarted several times. But the JSPM should ask you before the restart.
Do you have experiences how long the patching of the Java stack will take (downtime)?
How often needs the system to be restarted?
Is it possible to work with the ABAP engine (ABAP development, etc.) during the installation of the Java SPS with JSPM until the system needs to be restarted?
How is it possible to minimize the downtime of the system during the Java SPS installation?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
StephanHi Stephan,
"Do you have experiences how long the patching of the Java stack will take (downtime)?"
I believe this is most highly dependent on the hardware. Although some patches will deploy more objects than others, the deploy time is shorter on better/faster hardware. I applied SP9 on my laptop PC (java only, no ABAP stack) and it took a few hours total -- including my processing and error correcting time. My laptop has only 2 GB RAM so this process was greatly slowed by the amount of available memory (I was running other applications, like Outlook, etc.) resulting in a lot of disk swapping.
"How often needs the system to be restarted?"
Again, I have a java only installation, no ABAP, but I believe there was only 1-2 system restarts. The system had to be restarted after the application of the java kernel part of the patch, then shutdown and restarted again for the offline deployment phase. I cannot remember if there was a restart after the online deployment phase.
"Is it possible to work with the ABAP engine (ABAP development, etc.) during the installation of the Java SPS with JSPM until the system needs to be restarted?"
Yes.
"How is it possible to minimize the downtime of the system during the Java SPS installation?"
I think the best way is to have the best hardware! Also, be sure to be thoroughly prepared by reading the guide, all of the Notes, etc. I was slowed by a previously correctable error (my administrator password had been previously changed and I had not changed it in the secure store -- Note 701654).
Best Regards,

Restart the Java-Engine in a dual stack installation (java+abap)
Hi,
how is it possible to restart or start only the j2ee-engine in a dual stack installation. We have a JAVA- and a ABAP-Stack and want only restart the JAVA-Stack. In windows i can use the MMC of SAP but how is it possible in UNIX.
regards,
sharamHi Eric,
i konw this TR, it doesn't work. There are two possibilities:
restart j2ee-local
restart j2ee-global
we try it with j2ee-local because we use a dual stack installation. What could be the problem. Is there an other possibility? How can i restart the j2ee-engine directly on my unix machine?

How to restart Java Engine in ABAP+JAVA dual stack installation ?
Dear Experts
if i use stopsap r3 in this dual stack installation - it stops both ABAP & JAVA Web Application Servers.
I want to restart only JAVA Weba pplication server.
How do it ?
Thaks in Advance !
RgdsBut theoritically they are 2 indpeendent installations like
AS ABAP
AS JAVA
..Do you aggree ?? really am not good on basics!!
During the installation also - if select AS ABAP & AS JAVA - it will become dual installation
and it does not show
any dependency while installing that AS JAVA requires AS ABAP.[Installation Component Selection and Dependency Screen shot|http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn153/S0002919350/SAP%20Issues/Oracle_Patches.jpg]
Installation Component Selection and Dependency Screen shot
Is it because if AS ABAP is down - AS JAVA UME is 001 client - and Java authentication fails ?
Can we de attatch from ABAP UME for my requirement like - running JAVA WAS alone w/o ABAP.

Removing J2EE stack from dual-stack installation
Hello.
Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the JAVA-stack from a ERP6.0 dual-stack installation ?
We have a ERP 6.0 system running HCM services. The ERP system is installed as dual-stack, but the JAVA-stack is not in use as we also installed a separate NW 7.0 JAVA system hosting portal and java hcm services.
Thank you.
Gerhard.Hi,
Yes, you can drop Java part from existing dual stack system.
1) Stop cenrtal service instance and all dialog instances of your system.
2) Also, stop J2ee engine of CI from SMICM.
3) Hash out all Java parameters in your default and instance profile (like j2ee, exe/j2ee, exe/jlaunch, jstartup etc.)
4) Delete central service instance.
5) Delete Database schema
6) Delete directories (/usr/sap/<SAPSID>/DVEBMGS<xx>/SDM and /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/DVEBMGS<xx>/j2ee)
Thanks

OSDB Migration using the migration monitor with dual stack
Hi
How can i use the migration monitor for dual Stack system. i knew that migration monitor use the R3LOAD. i never find using the JLOAD. how migration monitor export the Java.
Please advice me
Thank you
Vish> We are using the NFS filsystem. its mounted the two systems.
Good!

> 2. FtpExchangeDir
So assuming that you have not read the documentation (which you really should):
- You need to create a separate directory on the NFS where both systems have access
- you need to configure the export machine as "server" (read the docs!)
- you need to configure the exchange directory on both export and import migmon

Problem with dual audio jack after Bootcamp installation
Hello,
I have installed windows 8.1 via via Bootcamp on my macbook pro (Retina, 15 inch, medio 2014 with Yosemite 10.10.2).
Everything works fine except 1 thing.
Problem: The audio of my steelseries headphones are really crappy now. In windows and on Mac. It sounds really cold. This is only with my steelseriesv3 headphones with the new 3,5 mm dual jack. I tested it with an old headset with only audio and that works fine.
Before i installed windows via bootcamp it worked fine! I think the problem is that the new 3.5 audio port software on doesn't work with bootcamp???
Help is much appreciated.
Kind regards,
TomCan you uninstall the SV3 software and use the default BC drivers? I use the Optical (and power Amp) or USB DAC with headphones. I have an older Sennheiser headset.

PI system upgrade from 7.1 to 7.4 dual stack
Hi,
We want to upgrade PI system to 7.4 .currently we are using PI 7.1 system (dual stack)and want to go for 7.4 dual stack.
which one single stack or dual stack is the best approach and what are the impacts normally see when upgrading to newer version.
We are planning to install 7.4 freshly recomonded by SAP .
We need to migrate objects from older system to newer system?
I want to know the process from basis perspective also .
Import/export or migrate is the best way to move objects from older sytem to newer system.
Please suggest me any links about the process including basis point of view also suggestions for the approach.
thanks,
aman>>>> which one single stack or dual stack is the best approach and what are the impacts normally see when upgrading to newer version.
I would prefer single stack considering the SAP's future road map but of course it depends on how much effort your company is ready to spend. Incase you have lot of CCBPM's then you'll have to redesign them using Netweaver BPM if you go with single stack.
As are going with fresh installation(migration) of dual stack then you don't need to invest much.

There is wizard using which you can move the directory objects ( classical scenario's to Integrated configurations). Please use it for ID objects
Refer to the below blog for more details. (ignore blog's title. it's applicable for dual stack-> dual stack too)
Moving Integration Directory Artifacts from dual stack to single stack
For ESR you can simply export and import the tpz file.
>>> I want to know the process from basis perspective also .
They can simply follow the installation guide and execute the post installation steps properly. -

Java Stack Vs Dual Stack in Pi 7.3
Hi experts.
I open this thread because I'd like to know your opinion about the newJava installation option in SAP PI 7.3. In previous realeses (7.0,7.1) I felt more comfortable and safe in abap stack and I'm a little afraid about working only with java stack.
I'd like to know advantages and disadvantages to choose java stack instead of dual stack, why you'd choose one of two options or both in your nexts customers.
Thank u so much and happy new year!!!!Java Stack or Dual Stack in 7.3
Java Stack alone: Almost all standard adapters including HTTP, IDOC and Proxy are all available in this stack. you need to use Integrated Configuration object for this. You are basically going to use Advance Adapter engine alone for the entire processing.
Pros:
No persistance steps here. So you would improve performance many folds for sure.
Throughput is also improved very much.
since 7.3, Solution Manager is available for monitoring inaddition to RWB and NWA. So monitoring would not be issue.
If you are looking for real performance improvement, Single stack Java to go.
Cons:
Abap mapping is not supported.
Message split to multiple receivers are not completely supported.
BPM interfaces are not seamless migration here. SAP 7.1 and lower versions support BPEL wheras 7.3 supports BPMN standards. So you might have to tweak a bit to modify existing interfaces here
Dual Stack:
Your option is pretty open. If you need some specific interfaces to handle only java stack, still that is possible and increase the performance. Also if you have lot of existing interfaces that requires BPM interfaces, ABAP mapping , Multiple split /branching etc.
still dual stack is the better option now. Here developer decides according to the requirement.
Still safe mode is going for Dual Stack for now and change in the future to single java stack alone. -
Rebuild our XI application server from Single stack to dual stack
Hello,
We currently have an XI landscape with two application servers, the CI is of course a dual stack system, however the two app servers are single stacked, however we would like to make the two app servers into DUAL STACKs, my first guess was to rebuild the two apps from scratch and reinstall them as a dual stack apps. My Q is:
First: Do we need to rebuild both app servers, or can we make a change to the app servers to modify them to become dual stacked
Second: If we do need to rebuild both these apps, is there a specific document available to do this on Market place for installing a Dual stack app servers with PI?
Thanks in advance.

Edited by: Prateek Raj Srivastava on May 13, 2010 12:27 PMHello,
Thank you all for your feedback,
Denny Liao, it is very interesting question you implied, we do have a J2EE directory created under the /usr/sap/SID/D30 directory:
/usr/sap/XQ9/D30
mqaapz28:xq9adm 13% ls -ltr
total 36
drwxr-xr-x 7 xq9adm sapsys 96 Aug 24 2009 igs
drwxr-xr-x 9 xq9adm sapsys 1024 Aug 24 2009 j2ee
drwxr-xr-x 2 xq9adm sapsys 1024 Nov 11 2009 sec
drwxr-xr-x 3 xq9adm sapsys 1024 Nov 24 10:48 log
obviously this app server does not have any (jlaunch/jcontrol process running) therefore it is not running as dual stacked. but interestingly enough I do see logs in the
/usr/sap/XQ9/D30/j2ee/cluster/server0/log directory created at the time of the initial install. and under:
/usr/sap/XQ9/D30/j2ee/cluster
mqaapz28:xq9adm 29% ls -ltr
total 30
drwxr-xr-x 2 xq9adm sapsys 1024 Aug 24 2009 bootstrap
-rw-rr 1 xq9adm sapsys 39 Aug 24 2009 version.bin

drwxr-xr-x 11 xq9adm sapsys 1024 Aug 26 2009 server0
as per the note you mentioned above (741289 ) this explains how to recover a lost J2EE parameter setup, I am guessing this can be simply followed and re-enable the app server to run as a dual stack.
also my system information for the J2EE on the CI is:
