Dual Stream video out of FCP

Can I output two streams of video from a 2 channel multi clip? I need each track to go to a diffrent monitor but they must be kept perfectly in sync during playback.

You can, however, do the 'ol split-screen. You know... two on one screen.

I have heard and seen posting about upcoming beta where one would be able to use media manager to stream video from their PC to the STB in their houses. Cool, needed but sort of expected ....
what I am really interested is to actually be able to view the content of my DVR when I am remote from home. I would like with a browser to connect home and be able to view the show I missed.
Now that will be cool .... (its kind of Slinbox service)

It'll happen, I'm sure. Eventually, we'll be able to even watch Video On Demand on Verizon Wireless cell phones, and when we get home we can seamlessly transfer the streaming video from the phone to the STB/TV thanks to the Verizon One.

Welcome to HP's forum. Yes no matter what type of computer you have or ports. USB Pinnacle http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=usb+pinnacle&qpvt=usb+pinnacle&FORM=IGRE these are images. I bejeive in your case you should have the necessary ports if you remove the left side small back pannell by the ambient light switch. You should be able to see all your ports. Please open Help and Support on the right side of programs list In help and support search box. Type in pc to monitor , pc to tv is the best one for direction and cable needs go here first. You can type in pc to pc. Type in vcr to pc, # 5 Connect a projector. All direction and cables needed are given. Rember if your computers do not have all these fancy ports you can just use an USB pinnacle witch all computers have an USB ports. Please click on Kudos if this resoves your issue. Thank you frrw. I can't upload or import videos from my iphoto library, into final cut pro x. When i click, IMPORT MEDIA in FCP, It lists iPhoto Library as GRAY, and will not let me access it. I need the videos out of there. I have tried every way I can think of.

I have also tried from the iphoto side, to export the videos or share them to final cut. I have had no luck.
I have tried to drag and drop indidual video clips from iphoto to fcp, and the programs simply do not respond to each other
I can see in the OLDER version of final cut pro x, where it has IMPORT FILES as an option, it was possible. I see this on forums and youtube videos of the older versions.
However, the newer version that i have, does not have IMPORT 'FILES' as an option, it is simply all lumped together as IMPORT 'MEDIA'

at the end, you say "import preferences", which program are you describing?
So im safer using footage that is remotely being pulled from iphoto...
vs
using footage that is imported into FCP from imovie?
Is there anything i can do in fcp to make this footage more reliable or safer or more stable as i pull remotely from iphoto?
All the footage, and all the libraries to all programs, or on a new pegasus 12tb raid 5 setup fyi.

Video Out Features : Streaming Video

Asked this in my local Apple Store today - unfortunately they were no use ("we have no demo AV cables sir") so I thought I'd try on here.
I'm keen to understand what output I can see on the video out of my iTouch if I connect it to a monitor. I fully appreciate I will be ale to see both photos and videos stored on the iTouch. However, it's not clear to me whether it is possible to watch content streamed from the web (eg. youtube) via video out. Hopefully someone can help (my Apple Store rep could only guess "it might work", "but it's streaming so maybe not", "we can't demo it, sorry").

Thanks for the responses. This has helped me a lot. It's also meant my 'pet project' is now almost possible. I've wanted, for while to be able to access 'on demand' content via the web to my TV/monitor without having to have a computer/AppleTV/etc grinding away in the background. Seems my iTouch will allow this albeit with a limit to my screen size as the resolution will be limited. Soon the BBC iPlayer will stream TV shows to iTouch (fantastic!). My bet is the BBC already have the holy grail of the SDK and iPlayer will be one of the first apps out for a UK audience.

How to make iPod touch to have dual-video-out (device & TV)?

I have been looking for a way to do this and maybe someone out there knows how to make and iPod touch do it!?
I want what *Steve Jobs* did during the *last keynote* = using the iPod touch and at the same time showing that on a video screen.
For my company I need a device with these capabilities:
Must-have
- Touchscreen
- Dual Video (Display + AV-out simultaneously)
- AV out (S-Video not DVI)
- 12 - 24 volts (in-car voltage)
- DRM Win or AAC
Dual video means that I can choose the files/pics/vids on the iPod Touch screen, and at the same time show the same image simultaneously through video-out on TV.
Current configurations of the iPod Touch only allows one or the other.
NB: There is no other device that can do it. Tablet PCs have no video-out, Archos/PSP et al have the same restrictions as iPods do.

Buffering pauses and audio/video out of sync, single RTMP stream w/ simple embed

I am running Flash Media Server on my dedicated CentOS host, and finally connected a single RTMP stream fine and am able to embed and play back the stream, but I am getting constant buffering pauses (approx every 5 secs) and audio/video out of sync by at least 5 seconds. My CPU with Flash Live Encoder is a powerhorse, never over 25% processor or ram usage while streaming, and my upload internet speed is averaging 6-8 mbps which should be more than adequate. I fear the issue is server side, however port 1935 is open and in use, not firewalled on CPU nor the host.
Any suggestions would be great.

Select the iTunes library on your computer from the Sources menu in Apple TV and then you can stream. If streaming is not smooth and your router has a multicast setting, try increasing the multicast bit rate. To return to the synced content on your Apple TV, select the Apple TV logo at the top of the Sources menu.

FCP & 3D. Is there a way to stream two tracks out of FCP simultaneously?

Has anyone set up FCP to cut 3D? Is there any video card or existing 3rd party 'plug-in' or 'hardware device' that might facilitate taking two images simultaneously out of FCP?
This is for a 3D IMAX film company now using a very awkward proprietary system - which requires several different format renderings, working only SD etc. etc. A mess. I've proposed they create an 'Apple' pipeline, which makes perfect sense right up to being able to do screenings in 3D.
If there is a way they could screen their edits in 3D they would be on board tomorrow.
To go back to the IMAX footage and final post production they'll use an EDL or keycode, so outputting the final edit for IMAX is not part of the problem.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated...

FCP to STP back to FCP now video out of sync

I exported from FCP to STP via multitrack, did my audio edits, then exported back to FCP via xml import. Three video clips in FCP are now out of sequence (they are completely different, like they have different I/O points. These clips are only 1 second long .
Any ideas on why?

I hate when someone doesn't first search threads for answers before posting. That would be ME late last night. After searching, I don't find definitive answers to my issues.
I am using DV NSTC 48Khz preset in FCP.
The FCP Easy setup: Format NTSC, Rate (all rates)
In STP, Preferences, synchronization, frame rate is 30 non-drop. Is this correct?
What is 30/29.97/Drop Frame?
Could this cause my video clips to come back to FCP out of sync and have the wrong I/O points.
I would really like to use STP instead of just doing the sound in FCP.

Streaming video question - is there anything out there?

Looking for a nice reason to justify Mac OS X Server. Is there a video streaming application with a typically nice Apple layout available in Mac OS X Server? I have a library/training need and would like Apple to fill that need. one of the things is a video library that not only shows that contents of the library, allows checkouts, etc., but also will stream video.
Or is thing something that would have to be hand built?

Two quick points. With the new version of the OSX server OS just days away, I would wait and see what new features it had to offer you.

Video clips from FCP to website

We want to post 30 2-3min video clips on our business web site and will continue to do this on a ongoing basis.
The process is for me to export as a QT file, post it on our server for our webmaster who will covert to flash and will then post on our website. (She has the software so she'll do it for now).
My big question is when exporting the clip out of FCP I will go to:
QT conversion,go to QT movie-options-settings-and dial down compression to medium(in the interest of saving space)??
OR
go to QT conversions-most recent settings-and select Broadband medium or Streaming medium. Or something other??
Hopefully someone is doing something similar to this on a regular basis as I will be doing and can advise as to the best way they found to go.

What you don't want to do is compress more than one time. So the best way to do this is choose file/export/QuickTime Movie... then choose use current settings and include audio and video if both are needed. Also check on "Make movie self contained". This is a single QT movie of your short videos... and it is of the highest quality possible. But it's a large file compared to what you've been suggesting. However... it will end up being compressed to flash and that final should look better because you didn't compress it twice.
That said, it's really making sense to me for YOU to make the flash movie directly from your edit station... You'll need either Flash pro, or Sorenson Squeeze or Episode Pro to do the best job of this. That way you're only compressing one time too.

Embed video or stream video which works better

Can anyone give the differences between streaming video or embeding it in a web page. Why would you do one above the other. The only major difference I see is that with streaming, the server doing the streaming can be anywhere. This means less bandwith used for you web server. What other things are there.

dump DV format, other will dump HDV format.
Since I'm not doing the capture and I want to use FCP
to edit and do the final composing what are the
advantages/pitfalls of the different formats? I am a
nuibe when it comes to FCP and video editing for that
matter but it appears, at least to me from what I've
read, that DV works with FCP better for editing as it
is true frame by frame reproduction. HDV on the
other hand I can only edit the i-Frames and I believe
I need to do a transcode or something on that order
to work with it FCP. Is this true?

I think you should make the most of this situation and go with Studio X's suggestion to DVCPRO HD and find a way to archive to tape or Blueray for backup. You will like the all I frame editing. If you can only find HDV 1080i you will be able to down convert with a rental Sony HDV camera to DV. Edit now in DV and have HDV on mini-dv tape for your family’s future needs. This is a no brainier. HDV is only the beginning of highly compressed formats to come and it really looks beautiful. HDV is a great acquisition method. Plus you can have HDV captured to DVCPRO HD. Have one reel done at the local place and see for yourself.
