Dual sync

I currently snch at the office on a Windows based machine.  Can I also sync at home with my MacBook?   Does the system allow me sync with two different operating systems in two different locations?
Thanks,

Thank you for using the palm help forums
Unfortunately Palm does not recommend that you sync to two computers especially two different operating systems. You run the risk of duplicating information and possibly corrupting your info, which sometimes leads to loss of data. It would be best to choose a location based on convince and security.

  • Can you dual sync your bluetooth apple keyboard to both your ipad2 and your mac?

I want to link a keyboard to my ipad2...can i sync my bletooth apple keyboard and bluetooth mouse to my ipad2 and keep it synced with my mac mini?

I haven't done it intentionally, but while it seems to be technically possible to have the bluetooth keyboard "connect" to one and then the other, it gets messy if both devices are on at the same time and near each other. I don't recommend it.
A mouse doesn't have any utility with a finger and gesture based iOS device so that will be Mac Mini only.

  • Dual Sync Challenge

    Hi Folks -
I've read a LOT of threads over the last several days about syncing issues but have yet to resolve my challenge. Here's what I'm faced with:
I have a PC at work and a Mac at home. Initially when I set up the iPhone I used iTunes on my work PC. I used Outlook connected to Exchange (Entourage connected to Exchange on my Mac). The iPhone synced all my contacts and calendar this first time when connected to the PC. All my music is on the Mac at home, so naturally I wanted to connect at home, manage my music and keep my phone charged.
I connected the phone to my Mac and put some music on the iPhone. Initially I thought I would sync the iPhone to my contacts and calendar at home and at work. It appeared that it was going to re-write duplicates of all my calendar items so I cancelled it and de-selected all the contact and calendar sync options in iTunes on the Mac. After this initial connection of the iPhone to my Mac, iTunes on the PC no longer recongnizes the iPhone. It charges the battery but iTunes never sees it.
Based on suggestions I've seen in the forums, I've re-installed iTunes on the PC. I've reset the sync history on the Mac and the PC (inside iTunes), and I've reset my iPhone - none of which causes iTunes on the PC to see my iPhone.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Did you completely UNINSTALL iTunes before reinstalling it? This is a critical step. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698. Don't skip any of the steps.

  • TS4036 Dual sync with iTunes & iCloud?

Is it possible to sync with my mac after I have only ever done so with iCloud previously?  I connect to iTunes and and only gives me the option to start as a brand new phone?  I have several songs on iTunes that I would like to transfer onto my iPhone 5.
Is this possible at all without losing any data?

Ok, the second issue is solved....

  • Dual Sync Possible?

I have a 5th Gen, and have it sync'd with my computer at home. All is well. However, I would like to sync my contacts, and appointments from my computer at work...and still keep sync'd with my music and videos from home. Is this possible?
    ipod G5   Windows XP

Thanks...Kinda what I thought. If I manage the iPod manually, then I can use two computers. I was hoping I could automatically sync contact/schedule on one computer, and automatically sync music/videos on a second computer. Thanks for the help!

  • Dual Sync of 8800

Can I sync my 8800 to more than 1 PC.  I need to sync it to my desktop and to my laptop when traveling?

Yes you can, the only thing you need is install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager in the other pc or laptop and use the same procedure that you already use for the first pc.
If I help you with any inquire, thank you for click kudos in my post.
If your issue has been solved, please mark the post was solved.

  • Music on two computers - really want to sync or download from both, but how

Like many people, I have a computer at work with much music on it, and a computer at home with even more music on it. I use iTunes on both. I recently bought an iPhone 3G and synced it with my work computer which has my email and schedule etc. Also synced iTunes. Now at home, it says it will erase everything if I sync up iTunes. Even when I check manual downloading, and click "apply" it says it will erase the music library in the phone if I continue. This makes no sense at all, since much of the universe now has separate computers at work and home.
How do I solve this dual syncing problem? Thanks!

You can always use a disk or portable drive to transfer music between PCs and import into one of your iTunes libraries. Then sync music with that one computer.

  • Sync contacts on PC and movies / music from mac?

    Hello all,
Looking to jump on the iphone bandwagon when the 3g version drops. But I have a question important to my usage.
Right now I use a PC for all of my business-related stuff, so all my contacts are stored in outlook. But for music / movies, etc I use a mac.
Is it possible to sync my contacts with outlook on my pc, then sync my music / movies from my mac? Sort of a dual-sync setup.
    Thanks!

    Yes, this is possible.
An iPhone is not formated for one operating system or the other.
iTunes content, and photos transferred to an iPhone can be synced with or transferred from a single computer only.
The sync process for contact information, calendar events, and bookmarks is a true sync process - bidirectional, and can be synced with multiple computers - with the supported applications between two Macs, two PCs running Windows, or between a Mac and a Windows PC.
The iPhone includes sync preferences with each computer, but best to disable automatic syncing to change or confirm your sync settings with iTunes on each computer before syncing. You can disable transferring iTunes content, and the same for photos, and enable syncing contact information, and calendar events only via your iPhone sync preferences with your Windows PC. Enable transferring iTunes content and photos from your Mac, and you can sync your contact information and calendar events with your Mac also.

  • Dual Landscape. Overwriting 3.5 queries with 7.0 version

We have a dual landscape. The production path uses the 3.5 version of BEX analyzer and hence any queries that need to be moved to production have to be developed in 3.5. On the alternate path, we manually dual sync them in 7.0 version. What happens when the 7.0 queries eventually come into production.  Will they overwrite the existing 3.5 queries successfully. Anybody who has experience with this, please post your reply

Thanks for your reply. Let me explain the process in steps to make it more clear
Step 1 - A new query Zxxx was developed in the Dev_server_1 as a 3.5 Query and transported to Production server
Step 2 - A similar query with the same technical name Zxxx was developed in the  Dev_server_2 (dual sync path) in version 7.0
Step 3 - Zxxx to be moved from Dev_server_2 to Production server
Will step 3 above work without problems? Is this the right way to do it? Are there better ways to handle this issue?
Thanks in advance for any reply posts

  • Duplicated calendars on iPhone - only one syncs

On my iPhone my calendars are showing three times. Only one of them seem to sync with iCal. Is there someone who can tell me how I can solve this problem?

Sorry for the silent treatment over here - this problem has gotten me and thousands of other frustrated iPhone owners..
This solution isn't 100%, but it's worked well enough for me:
Have you tried disabling your iPhone's MobileMe contact & calendar syncing? You can still sync them through iTunes, but having MobileMe syncing on will produce duplicates. Triplicates, even.
On your iPhone, go to: Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars/[your Me account], and turn off contact and calendar syncing. Only sync these through iTunes.
I still have all the duplicates from my own dual-sync experience, and I'm not sure how to get rid of them, short of manually deleting them all. I just ignore them.
    Hope that works for you!

  • Duplicate email alarms sent when syncing iCal on multiple computers

Hi, I have iCal set up on my laptop, my work computer and my home computer and they all are syncing using .mac, which is great because I can add an event on any computer and it updates everywhere. The problem is that when I have an event that has an email alarm all three computers end up sending me a reminder. As a result my inbox looks like a plate of spam. Is there a way I can suppress email alarms from all but one of the computers?
    Thanks in advance.

I sync my iPhone with two different computers. This appears to be something new & unique for the iPhone.
My "Info" data (contacts, bookmarks, calendar, mail) comes from my iBook. My "Media" data (music, podcasts, video) comes from my desktop PC.
I don't believe you can mix the sync data beyond that. In other words, you can't sync podcasts from one computer and music from a second.
When I started doing this, I recall getting prompted to erase all data before continuing the sync in the traditional iPod method of 1 computer to 1 iPod. But hitting Cancel to that question actually continued the sync without deleting the iPhone resident non-synced data. You may have to do that on both systems (the Cancel), but now it seems automatic. The iBook just touches the Info data & the PC just touches the media data.
I also turned off 'auto-sync' in both iTunes for the iPhone. I'm not sure if that made a difference for the dual sync. I just prefer to kick off the sync manually in case I'm downloading new podcasts or just need to charge the iPhone and don't want to go through a sync at that moment.

  • "No Content" constantly in iPod on iPhone 3G

My iPhone 3G shows "No Content" when I go to the iPod app, even though it's loaded with music, videos and podcasts.
This has been happening to me for the last 6 months or so, and now it's
happening all the time. So much so, that I can't use my iPhone to listen to music or podcasts because it always says "No Content". I'm starting to think this is a plot to force me to upgrade to an iPhone 4...
If I restore I get the media back, for about 3 days. Then it goes back to No Content. And when I restore, it doesn't restore all of the apps I have installed, even though I backup right before I restore... So every time I restore I have to go through the hassle of re-installing all the apps it didn't restore.
So far the only thing that fixes it without restoring it is if I sync calendar and contacts on my work computer (WinXP Pro, iTunes 10.0.1), then I get the media back in iPod. Problem is, I sync podcasts at home, so I can listen to them on the drive to work. But as soon as I sync at home, I lose the media again, until I get to work. Not a workable solution in the least.
    Here are some data points:
    - iPhone 3G (not 3GS) on AT&T
    - Running the latest firmware (4.1)
    - Latest version of iTunes on Windows 7 Pro
    - NOT jailbroken currently
    - 67 Applications
    - 14.5GB capacity, 9.2GB free
I have tried a few tricks suggested in various places, like creating a new playlist and syncing it to the iPhone, and deleting certain config files on the host computer and allowing iTunes to recreate those. None of those work for me.
Other than this issue, the iPhone works fine and I'm not going to replace it. If anyone can help me with this, PLEASE let me know! It would be great if Apple would admit this is an issue and actually try to fix it, but I don't expect much...
    Thanks for your help!

Good question. The wierd thing is, I only get the "No Content" message when I sync with my home computer, which is where the content is. When I sync with my work computer, it then shows the content which was synced from the home computer...
The other clue that tells me this isn't related to the work computer thing is that, after I restore I don't sync with my work computer at all. Then, after a few days it goes back to the "No Content" message. Then I sync with my work computer just so I can consume my media. So the dual-sync thing doesn't come into play until after I start getting that message...
If I just couldn't sync with my work computer it wouldn't be the end of the world, even though I've been doing that on iPods and my iPhone for years... But I am just not convinced that it would make any difference, and the phone should support the ability (at least it always has until the last 6 months)...

  • CS6.0.2 Merged clip bugs

Having struggled with my typical editing style using dual sync sound i've been able to replicate a few bugs, by listing them here my hope is to get other editors using "merged clips" with dual sync sound can find a solution around them.  This has come up a few times in the forums but hasn't specifically addressed the bugs.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4503977
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4676617#4676617
These bugs are with using Merged clips.
    1. using the match frame command from a clip in a sequence and then using a replace edit from source monitor on another clip, matches frame on video, but sync is off on the audio.  Using match frame on the newly replaced clip does reconnect to the correct timecode with the audio in sync, however the audio and video in and out points do not line up with the matched frame clip.  So you can't just use the overwrite edit with the matched framed merged clip.  Once you've matched frame with the incorrectly referenced audio, you can not use the replace edit command again, it gets grayed out.
    2. This same bug occurs when find an merged clip in the browser, creating in and out points and using the replace clip command from bin. The audio is out of sync and replace edit command becomes grayed out.
    3. Once the mismatch in the audio sync has occurred from the replace with match frame, the merged clip in the bin when loaded into the source monitor shows the inpoint and out point of the video, and a separate in and out point of the audio, which is not aligned properly like it was when it was originally created. Only when the in and out point of the audio and video are manually changed does the merged clip become a unified clip again. (one in and out point referencing both audio and video)
if anyone else can replicate this bugs it would be appreciated.
My clips have been manually synced in premiere, would be interested to see if pluraleyes' behavior is any different, but I don't have access to pluraleyes for Premiere if anyone can test.

    GPU Driver 1.3.4.0
    Matrox MXO2 mini with Max

Unfortunately this is not a spanned clip problem with Adobe or Panasonic. This issue does come up from time to time.
Be sure when you pull the card from your camcorder, you LOCK IT immediately. Then it becomes impossible to change anything on the card purposely or inadvertantly (and as you are aware, changing anything - structure, file names, ANYTHING - on the card will blow the whole operation, so locking it is perfect). Also, sometimes Mac users have problems when they fail to lock their cards, because Mac OS immediately starts writing files to the card if it's not locked.
When you're using the Media Browser in PPro, be certain that you are viewing the clips in AVCHD mode (there's a dropdown option for this right there in the Media Browser). If you're importing individual clips from a single continuous recording, you're NOT in AVCHD mode, and this will always cause the problem you are describing.
I don't mean to lay this out as "you're doing it wrong" but unfortunately this is all very well documented at this point, and whenever there is a problem with spanned clips, it is 100% of the time due to a user that renamed something, moved files, or otherwise didn't follow the complete rules of AVCHD management. I don't normally use a term like 100% (tend to prefer 99.9%) but I say 100% because it is absolute in this case.
