Dual wireless configurations

I want to setup two wireless configurations.
1. DHCP
2. Static
At work I have to wireless access points one is DHCP and static. I have tried setting up two different configurations, but they seem to conflict with each other at work/home. Users report that they cannot connect to those two automatically. I then have to make one of them inactive I usually do that to the static because the employees can take home the MacBook Pros/Airs. I also make one inactive because, they reported having trouble connecting at home. Is there a way for both of them to exist "both active"? I cannot give the users admin right,so they cannot change the network settings.

You've done quite a bit of troubleshooting and I don't have much to add, but I wonder what you intend to accomplish with the settings I've highlighted:
*Enabled default host* at: 192.168.1.253
*Enabled NAT Port Mapping Protocol*
iMac:
Configure IPv4: Using DHCP *with manual address*
IP Address: 192.168.1.253
Try un-checking that "enable default host", and don't specify a manual IP address for your iMac unless you have a good reason.
I would suggest you configure the iMac the same way as your MBP:
MacBook Pros:
Configure IPv4: Using DHCP

  • Backing up and restoring wireless configurations

I am getting ready to blow away my iBook and do a fresh install of OS X. I use my iBook in a variety of different areas and have it setup on several WEP and WPA protected networks. Basically, I'd like to be able to backup my wireless configurations and restore them once I reinstall the OS.

I would assume it's the com.apple.airport.plist in you user Library>Preferences folder (network locations/preferences are user specific). Drag it to the desktop and restart Airport. Are your various locations there? No? Then that's it.

  • Wireless configuration for HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer on Ubuntu 10.04

I have bought a HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer CN557A, which I want to use with ubuntu 10.04 64-bit as a wireless network printer.
Before i bought i checked compatibility on www.hplipopensource.org and www.openprinting.org, and all was in order.
The machine is autodetected and fully functional when connected with a usb cable, but i have not managed to get it to work as a wireless printer.
    This is what I did:
I configured the printer on the wireless network (through the printer interface), and it connects. It prints out a "Wireless Network Test Report", and everything works. I can ping to its local ip adress, and access it through the browser. HP eprint also works.
I installed hplip 3.11.10 and dependencies manually. I did this because the default hplip in ubuntu 10.04 did not recognise the device.
I ran 'hp-check', which gave no errors or warnings:

supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.

I then ran 'sudo hp-setup', chose the device (which was detected), chose my wireless network, entered the wireless security key. On the configuration results dialog I get two messages:
"Your printer has been succesfully configured on the wireless network. You may now unplug the USB cable"
    and
"The Ethernet cable is plugged in which will prevent you from connecting to a wireless network. To connect wirelessly, remove the cable and try again. (VSA000)"
There is no ethernet cable plugged in, so i can't remove it. I unplug the USB cable and click 'finish'. This makes the 'hp-setup'-dialog start over again, and the printer has not been installed.
In the terminal i have the following:

A friendly soul on ubuntuforums pointed out to me, that the wireless configuration is only necessary when the printer is NOT connected to a (W)LAN. So all I really had to do was to configure the printer in the CUPS administation page, and it worked. Problem solved. Silly me.

  • Dual screen configuration makes keyboard stop working on X

Hi. My computer is working just fine. And my video card has two outputs (Nvidia[GeForce 9600 GT] (rev a1)). I got a second monitor, and I was trying to configure Xorg to use the two of them in a dual screen configuration.
I tried creating the 10-monitors.conf file like described in  https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV … e_monitors, and here is what happens. X does use the two monitors, and I can even see my mouse pointer moving from one to the other. But then my keyboard stops working, and so do the mouse keys, only moving the mouse around works.
I have the impression this is related to the missing InputDevices in the ServerLayout. Something in my configuration probably needs that still, if the ServerLayout gets explicitly configured. What should I do? Could this be related to HAL somehow? How do I turn off HAL without it trying to kill me?
    Thanks.

I have been using nvidia's TwinView for a long time, currently with two different monitor sizes. There is no need to do anything with udev if you have your xorg.conf set up properly. Here's what mine looks like, though you will have to adapt it according to your hardware.

  • Looking for dual wireless rechargeable headphone system with dual docks

I'm looking for a pretty specific product, and was wondering if anyone knows of a product that'll fit the bill.
I want a wireless dual headphone system with a charging dock for each headset. Transmitter should accept line level signal from dual RCA plugs. I'd prefer a 900mhz transmitter, but IR is acceptable. Either the system should come with two headsets or it should be a system with a transmitter/headset with the option to add a charging dock and an additional heaset.
My old system was a Sony which is on its last legs, and I found a replacement from another manufacturer with dual headsets but it lacks charging docks - you have to plug the heaset into the transmitter and both heasets can't be charged at once. Also, the manufacturer says not to charge a headset for more than 24 hours or you can damage the battery.
Anyone know if Sony or someone else makes what I want?

    Hi Verne,
Sony does not have manufacture dual Wireless Headphones. You can perform an Internet search and check for any third party dual headphones.

  • Renewing wireless configuration

Told by Linksys support I needed to contact my hardware supplier to sort out "renewing my wireless configuration". I see on a internet search that this is a ball of blame that bounces between the wireless people an Microsoft with us users in the middle. Anyone know how to do this?. have wrt54g router and a musb54gsc network adaptor that refuses to recognize the signal at wireless computer.  went through all the normal resetting procedures with phone support before they copped out.
    Thanks

I think you can verify if its computer by bringing some laptop and trying to connect to your wireless network, if that connects, router is working fine. Adapter or computer is having issue.
You can try to update the drivers of adapter, and see if that helps.
Just latest download drivers from www.linksys.com/download for correct model and version number.
Uninstall old drivers, restart the computer, and install new drivers. And then try to connect to your wireless network.

  • B110 wireless configuration lost every printer turn off

Every time I turn off the printer, the printer lost the wireless configuration, so I have to reconfigure the wireless network access every turn on, is there a way to save the setup?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I believe this is a bug in the firmware.  Make sure your firmware is up to date (Setup > Preferences > Update Product) and wait for a fix.
Until then, just leave the thing on.  It goes to sleep and uses very little power (almost the same as when it is turned off).
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Wireless configuration files

Hi Guys, I have a question about wireless configuration files. I have set my wireless up and I am able to get it working. To do this I have to enter the iwconfig command manually.
    iwconfig eth2 essid GillisLAN
When I do that and restart the network it works fine.  I have read the forum and wiki and have tried many of the suggestions I have found in them. I must be missing something because I cannot get any of the config files to set things up for me. I have posted my the network portion of rc.conf below. I would really like to solve this and need some help.

As far as I know, wpa_supplicant can be setup without encryption.
Here is the Arch wiki page on setting up wpa_supplicant-
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wpa_supplicant
Also take a look here at the WPA supplicant section in the gentoo handbook. It includes helpful examples of different configurations which the Arch documentation doesn't.

  • DMPVN Dual Hub Configuration

In the DMVPN design guide it is stated that in a dual hub configuration one hub should be set as the primary via EIGRP metrics. Is there a reason for this? Why can't both routes act as successors so that load-balancing can take place. The only thing I can think of is that it could cause problems with spoke-to-spoke communication.
Can someone shed some light on this?

I had to replace a router in a home of a neighbor, they previously had the subject printer connected wirelessly.  The new router forced me to change the passphrase for the wireless connection from what was previously used.  The same SSID IS being used on the new router.  I have tried all attempts to reset the network settings on the printer and whenever I do and then repeat the wireless setup, be it by WPS, PIN or CD-ROM and USB cable, in ALL cases the connection fails and in best cases says security passphrase is wrong or in worst cases that the printer does NOT see the CORRECT wireless network. The oddest part, apart from the total lack of a solution on the HP forums, or even in the manuals, is that the printer keeps picking up an odd-ball SSID, "HPCP1525-135f8d", mode is ad-hoc and the IP comes up with a "bogus" number which does NOT match any local network, 169.254.123.35.  I have seen IP's like this before on PC NIC adapters which cannot connect, I believe this is some kind of internally assigned IP, not from any networking device.  That combined with the bogus SSID, I am confident the printer is the source of this BAD configuration data. I have even tried to manually set the IP, using a reserved IP on the router which I set up just for this printer.  Still nothing, it fails to connect and collects and saves this bad SSID and IP. How the h*ll do you get the NVRAM of the printer to drop this IP and FORGET that SSID? Do NOT tell me to re-run setup, I have tried multiple times, that may temporarily clear the data, but in re-running the setup it to again collects and SAVES the bad configuration data. My best guess, and another solution which cannot be found ANYWHERE, is how do you do a HARD factory reset on the printer???  I have just about had my fill of the user-friendliness of these HP interface and setup software!!!!! HELP!!!!

I found this on an earlier post and it works for the person.  You have to first connect the printer with a ethernet cable to your network router as there should be ports available and then follow the instructions below: The No-Bull**bleep** Way To Setup Your HP CP1525nw For Wireless Printing Connect the printer to your router via ethernet cable. At this point you might need to navigate via the LCD and printer buttons to the Network setup. It’s a simple menu tree that you navigate via clicking the arrow buttons and clicking OK. Just connect via Ethernet and use DHCP. It should connect itself to your network.Once the printer connects to your network it will display its IP address on the printer’s built-in LCD screen.Enter that IP address into a web browser on a computer that is on the same network. After you click enter you will be presented with a web-based administration interface for your printer.Click on the “Networking” tab.Click on “Wireless Configuration” on the left-hand options.Status should be “ON”
Configuration Method should be “Join an existing network”.
Network Name should present a list of available networks. Click on yours.
Authentication should be set according to your networkClick APPLY and disconnect the wired connection to the router. The little wireless light on the front of the printer will start blinking as it connects to your router wirelessly. Once the light is solid the printer’s new IP address should be displayed on the built-in LCD display.  You should now be able to connect using that ip address.

  • E4200 Wireless Configuration

I was told my wireless configuration was not correct and it is making my router slow.  It is not giving me my true internet speed.  I am suppose to be getting 50 mbs and I am only getting around 5 mbs.  Can anyone give me some help in improving my wireless configuration.  When I connect a cat 5 cable to the router it works just great, only when it is wireless does it slow down.  Any help for this veteran would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Randy

It's not recommended to speed test over wireless due to many variables that may cause inaccurate results.

  • E2500 constant connectivity failures when secure wireless configured

My E2500 constantly drops connectivity (wired and wireless) when secure wireless is configured through the Linksys Connect software. The problem doesn't happen if the router is left unsecured.
    Router Firmware: 3.0.00 build 6.
    ISP: Comcast cable
    Cable modem model UBEE D3.0
I use a mix of wired and wireless - the PCs are wired and the tablets and phones use wireless connections. The laptop uses wired at the desk and wireless elsewhere.
When I first got the router and used Linksys Connect to configure, the connection was moderately stable for about a week, then started dropping frequently. Recycling the modem and resetting the router to factory defaults stabilized the connection.
Today I re-ran the Linksys Connect software to configure secure wireless for my wireless devices, and the intermittent connectivity problem came back immediately - I couldn't get more than a minute or two online without the connection dropping out.
I don't like running without secured wireless connection, but I don't see an alternative.

  • What is a dual port configuration?

    Hi!!!
I have a doubt while reading about some features of MPLS equipment! In many of them it appears that it allows a dual-port configuration, which rises the availability offered by the provider. My questions are:
    - A dual port configuration is between the PE and the CE of the customer?
    - Does the dual port configuration mean that you have two cables connecting the two equipment in order the principal one breaks??
    Thanks in advance!
    Alain

    Hi,
I have not heard this term in MPLS. But I assume dual port means you have one physical link
connecting between PE to CE and you divide it in two parts (based on vlan if it is ethernet or based on dlci value if it is
serial link) and configure both port (part of one physical link) with two different vrf. Sp that link configured under one vrf will not talk to another link configured under another vrf.
If you share more details of where you read this and for which product..so that people here can have more ideas to share.
    Regards
    Mahesh

  • Wireless configuration - 2 WLANs?

Hi, hope someone can help with this as I can't find any info out there (which is odd, but anyway)
When configuring wireless on (dual band) TC do you have two create 2 WLANs? (one b/g the other n)
In other words, when using Airport util/manual setup/wireless/more options/wireless network options - and then 'create' the N only WLAN there? If so, what settings to use for options such as Multicast Rate/WPA group key timeout etc.
OR - do you just create 1 WLAN setting the radio mode as automatic and be done with it?
I'm having some odd drop out/bad connection type problems with devices such as ATV and need b/g support for older devices.
    Hope this makes sense...
    Thanks, D.

Hello Can't think of one. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
When configuring wireless on (dual band) TC do you have two create 2 WLANs? (one b/g the other n)
By default, the TC will create two wireless networks with the same Network Name. One network operates on the 2.4 GHz radio band and the other on the 5 GHz band. This would, technically, support any 802.11a/b/g/n wireless clients that you may have. You have the option to rename the 5 GHz radio's network with a different Network Name. Also note that 802.11n clients can connect to either radio, whereas, 802.11b/g clients can only connect to the 2.4 GHz radio.

  • Wireless Configuration: HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m

I had no difficulty in configuring 27" iMac to communicate wirelessly with HP C309g-m.
Doing the same for Macbook Air has me stymied.
The set up has me go to this page:
    http://hpf5e3a5.local./index.htm?cat=network&page=device
Selecting (left sidebar) "Wireless (802.11)", the set up wizard is opened.
    http://hpf5e3a5.local./wlSetup.htm
After entering Network Name and WPA password, I click on "finish" and the progress bar proceeds half way... *and no further!*
    Am I doing something incorrectly?

Well you can try deleting all the print jobs, then uninstalling the printer from the MBA, restarting the MBA using a SMC reset and then reinstalling the printer in the Print & Fax utility. If that doesn't work you have 3 months of AppleCare, I'd recommend calling them for some help. If you need help on doing a SMC reset the instructions are:
    *SMC RESET*
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
    • On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
    • Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
