Haha. Rivatuner can ar, i installed that few days ago without knowing what it is used for...
if you have questions have a ask. also you can find Rivatuner VGA temp monitoring tutorial here: /* use NvThermaldiode.dll from a plugins list */ https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=104071.msg765518#msg765518

  • DualCore Center CPU Fan at 0 rpm randomly ?

    Hello everyone.
I recently got a new system with an MSI P965 Platinum motherboard, it's the first time I use MSI, before this I only had Soyo, Asus or Gigabyte motherboards.
    System specs:
    -MSI P965 Platinum
-Core 2 Duo E6400 @ 2.13 Ghz (stock speed, nothing overclocked)
    -(2x) 1Gb OCZ 667 Mhz DDR2 RAM
    -Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950XT 256MB GDDR3 PCI-E
    -500W Powercooler PSU (+3.3v_28a,+5v_34a,+12v1_20a,+12v2_17a)
    -Western Digital SATA Hard Drives WD3200KS, WD2500KS & WD2000JD
    -Pioneer DVR-109 & DVD-120
    -WinXP Pro SP2
My problem is that DualCore Center ocassionally pops and triggers an alarm indicating that the CPU fan speed is 0 rpm, it takes a couple of seconds and goes back to ~1950rpm and then again to 0rpm. At first this happened a couple of times while playing heavy 3D games, but I thought it might have been something related to the games so I just close DualCore Center before playing. I assume this because I've seen this kind of behavior on Asus PC Probe software in the past.
However I just saw it pop while browsing the internet and it kept going up and down so I had to close it or mute the sound.
I can see the cpu fan since the case is open and it looks ok, although I was thinking if the fan is indeed loosing power in 2 second intervals, I may not be able to notice it with my eyes.
CPU temp is around 32~34 C, System temp is along those lines as well. I think when CPU load is 100% the worst temp that I've gotten was maybe 40~42 C, but I don't think it ever got above those values.
I believe DualCore center version is 2.0, I had to download it from the MSI web site because the version that came with the motherboard Driver CD did not work.
Any ideas, thoughts or comments will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Don't use Dual Core Center and you will not have this kind of problem.
Whenever I use Dual Core center, alarms go off, stuff starts blinking, the system restarts or it freezes, hangs, causes strange error messages or suddenly decides that my system doesn't meet the requirements to run it at all.  On very beautiful and sunny days only it seems to work fine....
As long as I stay away from that strange tool everything is fine and stable.
Dual Core Center ist not the best tool ever written and considering the fact that it causes problems on many systems, the best idea is usually to delete it and never touch it again.
What do you need it for anyway?

  • Older macbook pro is heating up fan not running?

My older macbook pro is heating up.  I believe the fan is not running?
    Thanks

First, I recommend you to reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If it doesn't work, I would start thinking about a hardware problem. To confirm this, insert the “Mac OS X Install Disc 1” that came with the Mac, hold the D key while your Mac is starting to start Apple Hardware Test and run an extended test. If you get an error at the end of the text, copy it here. You will have to take the computer to an Apple Store or reseller to get the Mac repaired

  • Hot Computer fan not running

I have a new Mac Pro, it seems to be very hot and the fan is not running. I also went to plug in my printer (printer was not on) into one of the USB ports on the back and it sparked.
How hot should my computer be before the fan works? I have yet to see or hear the fan working.
What is up with the sparks?

Do we talk about °C or °F...?
If your room is about 80° I hope (for you) it's °F
But if it's °F than it is impossible that your computer is about 37°... this would be colder than a refrigerator
Check the "Ambient" temperature... this is your room temperature at the place your computer stands.
You should take care that the computer has enough space to "breath". especially at the backside. It takes the cold air from the front and blows the hot air out the back. If it stands right in front of a wall, the computer is maybe not able to get rid of the hot air. This could heat up the whole case.

  • Fan not running Archlinux U410

    Hello,
I installed Archlinux on my U410, everything works fine, but the fans don't seem running:
    # acpi -c
    Cooling 0: Processor 0 of 10
    Cooling 1: Processor 0 of 10
    Cooling 2: Processor 0 of 10
    Cooling 3: Processor 0 of 10
    Cooling 4: LCD 0 of 15
    # acpitool -f
    Fan : not available
but I couldn't find how to control them, since /proc/acpi/fan/ or similar don't exist and I couldn't find anything that helps me.
Is there an other way? If you need additional information about my system and/or configuration, I'm happy to post them here.
    best regards

    Hi
In many laptops, the fan is not detected as it does in desktop and hence you can't monitor it. If it doesn't show, it's not necessary that it isn't working. You can always check by keeping a hand on the fan vent and see the temperatures of your laptop's processor.
One thing to add, if the fan doesn't work, then the computer only works for a very short period of time.
There is also a program called Speedfan which can monitor the fan. Though.i am not 100% sure if it would give correct readings. You can use MSI afterburner for monitoring fan movements and controlling it.
To conclude i would like to say that these all things depend on a blue wire attached with the fan socket. If your laptop does not have it, then the above may not work.

  • HP Envy 15" TouchScreen Power LED shows up, but fans not running and screen does not come on

    Hello there!
I am a 1A Software Engineering student at University of Waterloo, and I am running into a very serious problem with my HP Envy 15" TouchSmart laptop running Windows 8.1. This is a problem that just started today, and I would rather get some support from here first before I go see the technical support office sometime tomorrow; it has to do with the screen and fans where the Power LED lights up white, just as when the laptop is running properly.
(I do have warranty on the laptop since it was bought last June, except that if I find out I need to get a replacement, I'll lose all of my work I've been doing on it ever since I started my semester. It's so ridiculous of me to not have all of my work saved on a backup, as I do have an external hard drive. Trouble is, I got way too many problems in getting myself organized, I am not being open-minded as I should, and worst, I am not finding a balance between homework and life.)
Before I had my MATH 117 (Calculus 1 for Engineering) lecture, I was in a lab nearby where my laptop was opened and turned on, functioning properly. I had NetBeans IDE running since I wanted to work on the second part of my current CS 137 (Programming Principles) assignment. Because it was almost time for my lecture, I closed the laptop by simply moving the screen back down onto the keyboard, where it goes into sleep mode. (Anytime I flip up the screen, the laptop is supposed to come back on, and the login sliding screen from Windows 8.1 shows up.)
When I took my seat for the lecture, I wanted to spend a little bit of time to work on my programming assignment. However, upon flipping the screen back up, instead of having the login screen show up, I encountered the problem: the Power LED is showing a white light, but I can't hear the fans running from the vents on the left side of the laptop, and the screen does not turn on. I did try to hold the power button for several seconds, and once at least 10 seconds, except that the Power LED keeps on showing a white light. The light for the Wi-Fi board does not show up.
Whatever it is, I don't want to pull the battery out because I did do that on my last laptop, and it was from there that I couldn't turn the old one back on again. If I pull the battery out from the Envy laptop, it'll short-circuit the connections from the battery to the computer, and thus several components will fry. For now, what I'm doing is leaving the laptop as is to drain the charge on the battery. And then, once I notice that the Power LED does not show a white light anymore, plug the AC adapter, then try turning the laptop back on using the Power Button.
It's going to take a little while for the circuit to drain the charge on my battery though...
Anyway, would you please be so kind as to help me out with this issue? I would really appreciate it if you can give me several recommendations. Thank you!

  • Cooling fan not running

The fan isn't running so the emac is getting a bit warm.
I've given the fan 12 volts and it runs.
Are there any software settings I should be looking at?
If there is a hardware fault, is there a problem with running a 12V supply direct to the fan?
I don't really want to get any deeper into the entrails.
    happydaze

Did this start after the logic board replacement? If so, you should visit the shop and let them know they failed to connect something.
As far as I know, the PPC desktop Macs do not have a user-changeable software fan control. There are probably some third-party utilities that might to it.
We have two eMacs--one 1Gen 700mhz and one 2Gen 1.42Ghz representing the first and last models--and neither seem to adjust fan speed during operation, suggesting that they do not have a temp controlled fan like the PowerBook G4 notebooks.

  • Compaq C700 - CPU fan not running after waking up from Sleep mode

    Hi guys,
Waking up from Sleep mode does not start the CPU fan.
    Kernel:  2.6.32-ARCH
    KDE : 4.4
Let me know what other details you need.

I was having the same problem after installing mountain lion.
What i did was in Finder went to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/  and deleted all the networking plists (refer screen shot). Then restarted the Mac and in Network Preferences reconnected to my WLAN.
    That solved the problem.

  • Fans not running

My early 2006 MBP has been running hot according iStat Pro. The CPU will get up to 160° to 170° F and neither of the fans go on. I'm using a dual-fan cooling pad ac powered and it still gets hot. When I set up a small clip-on utility fan to blow on the backside of the MBP it cools back down to about 105° to 112° F. But the internal fans never go on. I guess my question is, can I go somewhere in Utilities and check the status of the fans or the fans sensors?

    F1Vanc wrote:
    Error code: 4M0T/1/40000002:LEFT_MIDDLE-FRONT
Any idea what that means? I couldn't find any listing at Apple's Support showing error codes. That same error came up from the fast check and the extended test. I will make a appointment with a Genius Bar and see what I can find out. I sure hope it's nothing more than a fan.
That is the error code for a fan, so I guess that's "good" news.

  • CPU fans not working

My system just turns on and off no post. I reset cmos for ha has and same.
I switch the cpu fan to sys fan connector next to the cpu 4 pinconnector  and the fan spins but no post.
CPU 1 and 2 connector, no power to fan, both fans work on sys connector.
switch back to original 650 watt P/S,  same results, CPU fans do not spin, system does not post.
Just quick startup and shut down.
I'm thinking the board is faulty.
I have the latest bios version, the computer was working fine last night gaming.

yes I sent the whole system in.
I did run bench on the cpu the last night.
In windows 8.1 there in the app area had system test and tested memory, cpu, hard drives
and got good scores. the next morning was another story.
I don't know if that was the reason, you would think it would of froze up before damaging it.
who knows what went bad, New problem to me and I have seen allot.
before sending the system back I had to try and bring it back to store bought condition f , my videocard was flashed so I had to reflash back to UFI, that was a trick, but I did it and sent it all back yesterday.you know me the system was upgraded, P/S , fans
Just wanted to mention that when I spoke to support at CyberPower he asked why I had used the sys fan connection rather the doogle power feed I said I liked the way the motherboard controlled the fan and in Control Center showed fans normally running at 50%. He said no they run 100% all the time. I don't think he knows what he is talking about cause I could speed the fans up in Control Cente.r  The fans were running around 600 rpm (50%), not full speed. Anyway they set the systems up not using the motherboards sys feeds so I returned it that way and tested one last time and did the same on off.
So the system fan conections were fine it is the CPU fans that didn't work in either cpu1 and cpu2 connection. I had and in and out fan running but systen came with only one fan and had had upgraded to 2
Cougar CF-V12HP  EP fans. They worked fine and kept the cpu cool. maybe the board couldn't supply long term.

  • Cisco Messaging Interface-Not Running

    Hi All,
On the UCM 6.0 the Cisco Messaging Interface service is activated and when i check the status in 'control center feature services' it shows 'Not Running' and 'Activated'. If i start and refresh the page it again shows as 'Not Running'

    Hi Vineet,
This interface is only used in CCM to Legacy VM integrations (via SMDI) if you are not setup that way this is why you are seeing this :)
    Cisco Messaging Interface Service
The Cisco Messaging Interface allows you to connect a simplified message desk interface (SMDI)-compliant external **Third Party** voice-mail system with the Cisco CallManager. The CMI service provides the communication between the voice-mail system and Cisco CallManager. The SMDI defines a way for a phone system to provide a voice-mail system with the information needed to intelligently process incoming calls.
Genrally the Cisco Messaging Interface (CMI) is a Cisco CallManager service that should be run only on the publisher server. This service intercepts calls destined for voicemail and generates appropriate SMDI messages, which are then delivered to one of the server's Component Object Model (COM) ports.

    Hello dwb,
Here is the screen shot, just the top half, there are another 10 pages, but I guess this should enough for you to have an idea of waht is going on, bit small I am afraid. No, I don't have any apps setup to run when I open my computer, the kernel, varies between 290 and 305 per cent ish.
Would that PRAM thing help ? I think it may be the computer itself, well something inside, as this the first time that the fan has ever started running since I have this computer, even when I have 3 or 4 apps running.
Thank you again for your advice,

  • Fan randomly running loud + computer not responding

I have been facing a problem for the last several weeks on my PowerMac G5 that technicians have not been able to solve either.
The computer randomly stops responding and the fans start accelerating slowly until they reach their top speed and then stay at that speed for indefinite periods of time. I cannot see any pattern in this - it happens both when the computer is running some process and when it is idle.
Each time this happens, the only option for me is to do a hard powerdown (hold down the power button).
I saw another question about fans running at high speed, but that case, it seemed as if the computer continued to respond.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem.
Now before you start taking advice to back up all your data, reformat your hard drive, and reinstall all the software; please take note of a few things:
first off, I'm disappointed/frustrated/melancholy that this is happening to me. I spend $5000+ for a "reliable" Apple computer. Then it doesn't want to turn on because its not safe. Sorry if I drown this post with bitter sarcasm but I am coming to the end of the line with my patience.
I called Apple Care, read a bunch of posts (here and elsewhere), and yes I do know about the SMU Reset button (like that really does anything?).
My problem happened a few weeks ago and I thought nothing of it at first. There was a power outage for a quick second and it turned everything off. When I went to turn on my computer, there was no chime, the red light was on, and the fans were running and eventually began running very loud. After letting it run like that in hopes of the screen lighting up, I turned it off by holding the power button. By the way, there's nothing on the screen and the keyboard doesn't work (I use a wireless keyboard, but I plugged in the OG cord keyboard to push whatever series of buttons recommended by these "geniuses") Trust me, the computer doesn't make it to that part of the boot process, so stop with commandoption+PR or F12 to get the CD out. It doesn't work! What's up with this computer! It can handle all these intense calculations, etc. but a power surge is going to shut it down indefinitely.
So I left the computer came back the next day, turned it on and its fine. Cool, I'm happy. It's Working!! I go on a few weeks, then I go to turn it on this Monday, same problem. But actually a worse situation. I had a client come over and the computer wouldn't work. I looked like a idiot. Couldn't do anything cause my computer didn't want to turn on. I do music production/editing. I use my G5 for running ProTools LE. I have other programs but that is the main one I use. There's nothing wrong with it. It's optimized for use with the mac. So those people who are going to advise me to uninstall all my software and all that - I appreciate your concern but don't give advice when you don't know anything!
So I am getting frustrated. My client left a little disappointed, but what can you do? I tried to call AppleCare on Mon. but it was Memorial Day. So I waited for Tues.
Tues morning, my computer turns on like everything is fine.
I'm happy but cautious. I talk to AppleCare rep. He tells me that it is a common problem they have heard about with the G5's. Wherever blackouts, brownouts, spikes, sags, dips, and other electricity inconsistencies occur, the Power Mac G5 has a breaker in it which flips so it doesn't receive uneven power supply and damage internal components.
I like that feature. Good thinking Apple. Protecting my investment from bad electrical grids. But I don't like the fact my computer has a mind of its own where it decides when it wants to boot or when it wants to sit there and run its fans all loud.
I shut down Tues morn to go to work. I come back in the evening, it doesn't want to boot up. Instead of getting angry trying a bunch of times to turn on/turn off the computer, I leave my house all together and go and have a few drinks. I come home ,don't even look at my computer, and go to bed.
I wake up Wed. morning. Go to turn on my computer. Successful boot. It's running. Okay, I think, I'm going to get down to the problem. I read all the logs, not like I know every piece of info, but just to see what's happening. Everything looks fine. I decide to run the AppleCare CD Tech Tool. It says restart holding down C. I do that. When the gray Apple Logo comes up, all this writing about kernals comes up and it tells me to restart or shutdown. I shutdown and attempt to restart, same problem: no chime, red light on, and fans eventually spin loud. Now the CD is stuck in there. I'm going to take it to the Apple Store tomorrow to if these "geniuses" can figure it out.
(Just a side note: Apple calls them geniuses, but its hard for me to think some disconnected college kid with a bad haircut and questionable social skills knows what's up with the power supply issues of a computer; maybe I'm wrong, but you can run your diagnostics and look at the chart of what to do and all that BUT Apple needs to listen to the people)
I am going to get a UPS (uninteruptable power supply) with a clean sine wave output to curb the issue at my end. It's not my fault I live in a area that receives uneven power output. I live in Los Angeles. Summer is starting up and I think its going to be hot, so blackouts, power dips and sags are inevitable. I just don't understand why Apple hasn't considered this problem and fixed it with something:
A recall to change the power supply, Is it something on the logic board?, are they going to reimburse me for lost income (Ha, yeah right)
I really want to know how many people are having this problem?
From what I've heard, it is a common problem.
So I think we need a common solution.
If its so common, it must be the computer. We are all going to live in different areas where the power may vary. Not all of us have the consistent power flow of 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino, CA. So if it is such a common problem, Apple needs to fix it.
I can't spend more than five grand on a super duper computer and have it wuss out on some power issues.
Its a loss of income and productivity to me.
    I can't have that anymore.
Sometimes my computer turns on, sometimes it doesn't.
I bought my PowerMac G5 in April 2006, its been about a month and a half and I'm having these problems.
    Thank you for your time.
If anyone else has been having this problem, I feel for you.
It was been very difficult for me not to curse in this post, but I have tried to extend the same respect to all that use these discussion boards to create dialogue, find help, and create solutions.

  • What is wrong with my computer I replaced the fan but it's not running

Thank you Allan Eckert that would of helped but right now I figuired out what exactly was wrong. My mac seems that it's fan doesn't run after the replacement. Litterly what I did to test this is test another mac with smc control and that one ran at 2000rpm for fan speed. My mac fan does not run at all its at 000rpm. How can I fix this problem myself besides apple if I can? Any suggestions? Yes It's a 13 inch mac book pro we have 3 but one for each of us. I would like to know why isn't it running thank you for the help if you can give any answers.

It should always be running a little bit whenever the Mac is on.
The part could be defective, or the wires on backward.
