Dualphone 4088

I can't sign in to skype on my dualphone 4088!! I have managed to register it I think! but keep trying to sign in and it just keeps saying sign in was not successful. Does anyone have any ideas 

I started a thread about an hour after this issue hit all 4088 users. http://community.skype.com/t5/Hardware/RTX-4088-No-longer-signing-in/td-p/3524365 Some of the replies give a little more information on the problem, but no solution. Only answer is to bother RTX about it until an update comes out.

    In answer to your question, it is MS putting profit before service & quality. Think about the windows releases that need 'repair before functionality, BUT you still pay full price. My NEW  Skype 4088 phone will not access my account, the batteries would not hold a charge, the currency shown is UK, (I'm in Australia) the gift card was two YEARS out of date, no light on the side of the Phone, Yes on the little black box. It will not hold the settings Date 06.01.1970. How old is the darned thing...

  • Skype credit for Dualphone 4088 missing

    When I bought my dualphone 4088 I understood I would get up to 60 minutes credit.  How does that work.  I have not received any information about the 60 minutes.  I would've expected to have the information given to me when I hooked up the phone ,or something????

    You should've received a voucher together with the box you received the Dualphone in. If you redeem that you will get Skype credits equivalent to 60 minutes of calling.

  • Configuring a DualPhone 4088 with a four-digit are...

    I have a DualPhone 4088 that I use in the UK. When I lived in Edinburgh (with an area code of 131), it worked fine for making landline calls.
    But I've recently moved to Yorkshire, with a four-digit area code, 1904. It will not let me configure a four-digit area code, and 190 does not work as an area code. When I dial numbers, it seems to dial extra digits.
    I've checked the settings, and the country code and region are correctly set to +44 and United Kingdom, respectively. The dial prefix is 0044.
    I've also checked that it's got the latest firmware.
    Has anyone gotten the landline to work from a place in the UK with four-digit area codes?

    I think it requires to have a QoS-support on the router. Native VLAN is important so you could still manage the switch interface. I think you need to use ESW series switches which supports CDP to negotiate the PoE to the phones. Also, you should have used a multi-layer router.

  • RTX DUALphone 4088 does not like MS account

    Hi,
    I just bought the RTX DUALphone 4088
    I already have a micrsoft account which I use as my skype id. It is my premium paid account
    The problem is this phone does not accept MS acount as it has an @ in the login id. Nor does it accepts the corresponding live id as it has a : (colon) sign. It errored out as illegal character when trying to login. Any idea how to make it working? I have created a temp id, it works fine. But my MS one is my premium paid account. I would like to use this one. Any help?

    Ok, resolved.
    It was to do with the password on the Skype name part of the account that begines with "live:"
    In the Skype control panel Account settings there is an option to set up for TV & Phone.
    In there you can see the Skype name assigned to your account and there is an option to create a password to be associated with this account, this does not need to be the same as your Live/Hotmail account.
    Once you have set this the phone appears to work.
    FYI I also updated to the latest firmware before doing this so this may have resolved the issue with the : being in the Skype name.
    This is the first time I have started to use Skype so this is a bit confusing and from other posts it appears to have been around for a while, it would have been useful if they put an FAQ together!

    OMG, I can't believe Chat and Vision - I have this problem on a unit received today - Worked for like 20 minutes then looses it's IP Address and will only work as a land line.
    So I phone them, get someone who know a bunch of english words, but unfortunately not how to string them together in a comprehensible sentence, and after 10 minutes I think he wants me to 'email' (using a webform), their returns department. 
    So we skip straight from I have a problem, to send it back.  What about the support bit in the middle and if this is such a known problem, why don't they deal with it, perhaps check the hardware before it goes out.
    I think this just shows how Skype don't value their customers at all, by allowing a company such as Chat and Vision to represent them.  Sooo, annoyed by them right now!.

    Hi, I've got this problem does not show is contacted, which he calls on your landline, probably would not have wanted to upgrade firmware, you can not help me?

    I don't personally own one of those phones.  I have used similar devices.  If your phone is logged into the same account that has a Skype number, then incoming calls to that number will ring on the RTX phone.  You should be able to test it out by calling yourself.  If you can visually see the call coming in but can't hear it, make sure the ringer or volume isn't disabled or lowered.  Another possibility is if the phone's ringer is defective.

  • STAY AWAY FROM Dualphone 4088 AND CHAT&VISION

    The phone itself is ok, it just probably will stop working in few months and the seller skype recomends, Chat&Vision is a fraud, they just get the money and disappear. I have a broken phone and I spent weeks trying to have it replaced, but is impossible, they don't even reply to email.
    Just do yourself a favor and don't ever buy anything from chat&vision ever!!!

  • Register handset RTX DUALphone 4088

    Hi
    I can't seem to register my new phone to the basestation. And the instruction are really easy, so I'm thinking is there anything wrong with this new phone. I mean it's only to press the resetbutton on the basestation and put the phone in the charger...--No. Doesn't work!!
    A little not that the instruction is showing the resetbutton in the wrong place. I've restarted this thing now so many times. I´m getting frustrated.

    I just decided to switch from vonage to skype number and was wondering:
    If i purchase the Dualphone 4088, will I be able to plug in a regular phone and use it for regular calls? I'd like to have 2 phones but i'm trying to decide if I just need one and then plug in a regular phone, or if I have to purchase 2 handsets.

  • Complaint regarding Skype accredited partner

    To whom this may concern,
    Our Company wishes to lodge a formal complaint about your accredited partner in South Africa ChatandVision.
    We ordered the following on the 3rd of June 2014:  
    1
    Jabra SPEAK 410 Speaker - FOR PC
    1
    RTX DUALphone 4088 (Black) (Skype Certified)
    1
    RTX DUALphone 4088 Extra Handset
    These products was supposed to be delivered to a standard South-African business address . on the 11th of June 2014 we received our first shipment confirmation which stipulated that we would arrive our order within the next few working days.
    On the 23rd of June we received an email from ChatandVision stipulating the order was returned by the couriers as a failed delivery due to the address not being found. We were asked to confirm the address and once again we did confirm that the correct information was used. But after that another TWO people contacted us within a period of 3 days to confirm the address. On the 1st of July we received confirmation from one of the 3 that the parcel has been shipped again.
    On the 9th of July 2014 we have not yet received our second confirmation and we contacted them regarding this matter. The only reply we received was on the 10th of July 2014 (our Shipping confirmation.) We received an email on the 16th of July that our order has been dispatched and Singapore post will deliver shortly.
    Using the tracking number we established that the parcel arrived in SA on the 24th of July 2014. By the 7th of August 2014 we have not yet received our parcel and contacted them around this. Their response was: “Dear Lauren, Thank you for your email. We would like to inform you parcel was posted via postage courier services. May i ask kindly checked your parcel at your local post office? Please let us know if you received the parcel in your end, if not simply reply back on this email so we can investigate. Thank you.” We notified them directly after this that the parcel was meant to be delivered to our office per our original arrangement. On the 11th of August the matter was escalated and we were promised that we will be informed about any movement as soon as it occurs.
    From the 8th of August until now we still have not received any form of communication with them. Thus we decided to cancel the order with Chat and vision yesterday evening (24th of August 2014).
    We would just like to voice our disappointment about the extremely terrible service we received from a Skype accredited partner. We will be sure to share this awful experience with fellow South Africans and advise them not to use ChatandVision under any circumstance.

    I hope someone can help me as there is no contact number whatsoever to get hold of Skype!!!
    I live in South Africa and use the Skype DUALphone 4088 to make calls worldwide, therefore I have the Unlimited World subscription.
    Now I'm thinking of using Skype for local calls to landline and mobile phones within S.A. This is where I'm stuck!
    There is a subscription to landline calls only, 400 min. / month will cost me $5.99 which means $0.015 (1.5 $ cents) per minute.
    However there is a second subscription which I'd also like to use, 120 min. / month to mobile AND landlines for $7.99 per month (= $0.067 / 6.7 cents).
    Now here the confusion and my questions:
    1.) I don't want to pay one cent more than 1.5 cents to landlines and 6.7 cents to mobile phones within SA. So how do I setup my subscriptions to accomplish that, because if I only purchase the $7.99 package I'll be paying 6.7 cents to landlines and that is far more expensive than Telkom!!!???
    2.) What would the szenario be if I purchase both subscriptions???
    Please don't get me wrong, Skype is awesome but their support structure sucks...

    I live in Australia, and would like to purchase a RTX DUALphone 4088 (2 Handsets) from the Skype Shop Australia. It's advertised as AUD174.99 reduced to AUD 157.49 with free delivery. However, when you go to checkout through ChatandVision, the price immediately leaps back up to AUD 174.99. I have checked some other items being sold through ChatandVision, and they do not seem to be applying the Skype discount to those either. Has anyone else experienced this? I can't find anywhere else to query this. My husband spent over 30 minutes on Microsoft Chat Support trying to find a solution or explanation for this, but they were no use. Eventually, he was advised that they would investigate, and email us within 24 hours - that was 48 hours ago. Very disappointed with the whole experience.

    Can you please verify your order confirmation email whether you placed the order with Chat & Vision or Freetalk? Right now I only see Freetalk listed as vendors for that specific camera model but the situation might have been different two weeks ago when you placed your order.

    This is what Skype and RTX don't tell you (Exactly)
    To use a skype subscription with this RTX Dualphone 4088 device you must first buy or activate the smallest Skype out credit. As suggested by Skype support above! Thank you
    The little blue Skype card in the RTX Dualphone 4088 box supplies free credit, Hopefully you still have it and it's not the one you threw away ? 
    #1 Activate the free skype card credit or buy the smallest amount possible from skype
    #2 Check your account to make sure it shows the credit amount
    #3 Check the subscription in your account and make sure it's been "Delivered" and marked as "Active"
    #4 If you're already signed in to your RTX Dualphone 4088 check the front screen which should show you the correct credit amount. If not, setup the device and sign-in to check it.
    (Now the bit they don't explain very well)
    If you call any number that is covered by your subscription ie United Kingdom you will not be charged or have the call deducted from your small skype credit.
    Test it by dialing a friends number covered under your subscription and check the credit doesn't go down (See your skype account or RTX front screen)
    This means that Skype has seen that the call is within your subscription and not charged you! Simple but not been made clear!
    I would recommend both Skype and RTX come together and fix this small bit of missing information and not assume people will just figure it out, You may get a lot more customers if they knew this !
