DualView (ATI) 1920x1200 + 1600x1200. Maximize outside of Screen

Hey
I run DualView in kde.
the screens used are a 1920x1200 (24") and 1600x1200 (20") monitor.
Everything seems fine, if i look in ati drivers, it says both screens has the apropriate res, but when i maximize images on #2 (1600x1200) they go outside the screenboarder.
sort of annoying, and i was wondering if anyone else has this problem (see attached screenshot of monitor2)

I have an ATI Radeon Xpress 1200 and I used the open source drivers.
You can try to configure Xorg with hwd
Not sure if it comes with the install or not but here it is in pacman
pacman -S hwd
After installing type in
hwd -xa
And it will configure your xorg.conf... try using the default VESA driver first

    There's no <--> key on ANYones keyboard. (Great answer Shootist )
    The other part of his answer is only applicable to certain windows (browsers specifically) as there is NO system wide maximize command in the manner you are asking.
    Apple's "maximize" function (green +) simply maximizes the window to the content, not the screen.
    For other keyboard shortcuts (and of course they may be outdated) try: this

  • Imac 27 late 2009 ati 4670 bootcamp windows xp black screen?

    when booting into windows xp home, screen goes black and stays there, i can hear all the sounds that suggest win xp has booted properly. i see a solution for win 7, have tried that. loaded ati drivers to usb and copied to windows\system32\drivers , have tried installing drives, ati detect sw missing.
    i have os x install dvd 10.6.2 that might belong to my power book, apple supports lists 10.6.2. and build # that came with my imac, the dvd i have doesn't indicate build #, it says version 1.0   2z691-6590-a

    Hi, I've seem to have found out the source of the problem.
    The issue is related to heat, and an iMac 27" gets hot pretty fast.
    If I boot the iMac straight after first start into Windows 7 I seem to get a lit built-in display at all times. I can also boot OS X first and then into Windows 7 and the built-in screen get lit every time as long as the iMac isn't hot.
    Strange thing is that the monitor connected to the display port gets lit every time. So I can only assume that the heat only interfere with output to the built-in LED screen.
    So this iMac is going to an Apple premium reseller for service, and I'll tell you guys how it went.

    Hi there @BUMZ
    I am sorry to hear of your video woes. At least it will run with the one chip disabled. Unfortunately that itself suggests only two likely causes. The driver for the ATI Radeon needs to be updated or the chip itself is defective. To me it sounds as if it is a heat related problem on that chip, which would explain why it may run briefly when you leave it alone for a bit.
    I would recommend calling in to phone support, to verify the problem. It may require a board replacement if it is the chip itself that has become defective.

  • SXCE snv_114 SRSS 4.1 multihead maximize across both screens

    I have been running snv_104 for some time and several versions prior with success using SRSS 4.1.
    This is a home setup (mostly to keep me current on Solaris, which we use at work).
    Several attempts at upgrading past 104 have caused SRSS to quit working, but today I found [bug 6799655|http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6799655] , which claims to be fixed as of 110, but still is a problem in 114. At any rate, the workaround works and now SRSS is functioning.
    The setup is an Acer laptop, 4GB RAM, dual-core 1.6 GHz Turion driving 3 desks, each having two Sunray 1 (earliest model) appliances. Most displays are 1280x1024.
    After the upgrade to 114, the maximize button on any window maximizes it across BOTH screens, rendering the maximize function useless. Otherwise, all works as expected.
    Output from utxconfig.
    bash-3.2$ /opt/SUNWut/bin/utxconfig -lv
    DIMENSIONS=auto (default)
    ENABLE_PSEUDOCOLOR_VISUAL=no (default)
    DEFAULT_PSEUDOCOLOR_VISUAL=no (default)

    ENABLE_XKB=yes (default)
    SCREEN_GEOMETRY=auto (default)
    SCREEN_ORDER=auto (default)
    XSERVER_PREF=Xnewt (default)
    Any suggestions on how to keep maximize from spanning both monitors?
    Thanks in advance,

    This is probably bug 6825001, "Xinerama primary display setting seems no longer be honored by GNOME/GTK+ applications". It's supposed to be fixed in snv_115.

  • How can I downsize the itunes window if the bottom is outside the screen?

    I have imported the files from my old 17in. Mac Book Pro into a new 15in. one. In the old one the window occupied the whole screen, in the new one it still shows up as a 17 incher and the bottom part of the itunes window actually falls off the screen and cannot be pulled up. This prevents me from accessing the lower right corner to decrease the window size. Are there any other ways to achieve this ?

  • New Applications folder window opens always half outside the screen

    As in the subject, only the first time after a log-in or finder restarting, when i press shiftA to open a new window of applications folder, it opens always in the same ugly position, i.e., on my right side of the desktop, half out of it, half inside. This happens only with this folder. If after restarting finder, restarting the mac, log-out log-in, I press +N to open a new window, it opens correctly on the center of the screen. If I try to grab the new applications window either in the center of the screen or in whatever position I want, next log-in, reboot, etc... it opens in the ugly position as I mentioned.
    I tried deleting .Ds_Store file in it, deleting com.apple.finder.plist, repairing permissions (both in leopard and by using the installation dvd), clearing caches, executing maintainance tasks, searching google, asking in it.comp.macintosh, praise the lord, but nothing. Now I'm going crazy, so I need to solve this.
    Ps: Maybe this problem start when I installed magnifique. It's an applications that let you change leopard themes (since shapeshifter works only on 10.4). I uninstalled after two days, being shure to delete its preference files and any other stuff that could have been reconducted to it, but the problem is still there. I tried creating a new user and the problem still exists.

    Hm, I guess that makes sense - the idea is to save power; but the process of trying to transfer control between display interfaces on the fly would have to be somewhat perilous.  This (hot swap of display interfaces) is just not the kind of thing that would normally be expected by software designers.
    Are the two display subsystems made by nVidia?  If not, I'd imagine it to be a practically impossible task to get right.  GPU makers aren't normally friendly with one another!
    It makes sense that a manual switch to the more powerful GPU would be needed to run Photoshop properly, as complex as it is.

  • Bug: the query results dialog extends outside the screen boundaries

    Hi, I observed this bug on MacOS 10.5.5 running Eclipse 3.4.1 with FlexBuilder 3.0.2 installed. Steps to repro:
    1. make FlexBuilder full screen
    2. open an MXML document
    3. make the editor full screen (double-click the editor's tab)
    4. select in the text editor the name of a Flex SDK class (e.g. Window, Button, ...)
    5. scroll the editor window so that the selected text is near the bottom of the screen
    5. click the Blueprint button, or type ctrl-B
    Result: the Blueprint query results window is only partly visible, most of it is below the bottom of the screen
    Expected: the query results window auto-positions itself to be fully visible

    Thanks for trying out Blueprint and giving us feedback!
    We have filed a ticket for this bug and will do our best to address it in the next release!

  • Unwanted material OUTSIDE workspace screen gets published? How do I make that stop?

    Hi, please help me!
    I'm trying to publish an interview. I changed the size of the video image and moved it towards the left to better position my subject. I want to publish as an MPEG, HD 720 30 or 25. When I do, I find that my attempt to crop out unneeded video didn't work, and worse there is a black area at the right corresponding to how far I moved the video to the left. On top of that, my watermark (a gif made partially opaque) in the bottom right corner crosses into the unwanted black area, even though it is positioned perfectly in the workspace.
    Is there a way to make Premiere publish ONLY what is actually visable in the workspace? Please help me!

    Welcome to the forum.
    When you say,
    I changed the size of the video image and moved it towards the left to better position my subject
    Exactly how did you Scale and Position the Video Clip in the Project's Frame? Did you use the Fixed Effects>Motion>Scale and Motion>Position, or some other means?
    If you could post a screen-cap of your Clip with the Effects Control Panel open, and the Motion Effects twirled open, plus the Program Monitor showing, that might tell us exactly what you have and have done. This should be in Timeline View Mode.
    Also, a screen-cap of your result, upon Export/Share, would be helpful.
    Thanks for those, and good luck,
    Hunt

  • Mail "Reply to"/"Forward" window stretched outside of screen boundries

    Hey there,
    so I have a MacBook Pro 6,1 that I recently upgraded to Yosemite.
    Ever since I've upgraded, I've been having a very strange and unrelenting problem with Mail.
    Everytime I try to either compose a new message, reply to someone, or forward a message, the window that appears is stretched out of my screens view.
    I am using dual monitors and it stretches the max resolution between both of the windows.  If you can imagine, it stretches from the left side of the left monitor to the right side of the right monitor.
    Now heres where it gets weird
    If I try to reduce the window size horizontally, I cannot do so.  If I try to reduce the window size vertically, I can do so to no end.
    If the mail window sits between both monitors, I can see it on whichever monitor is my 'in-use' monitor, it's second half disappears on the second monitor.
    I've tried everything I can think of:  using the window > zoom option, using the green button in the upper left, restarting the computer, quitting mail, etc...
    The one thing that I tried that sort of worked was unplugging my secondary monitor, restarting the computer, and then opening mail.
    This gave me a normal window size that I could resize no problem.
    As soon as I plugged my second monitor in, the window went back to the stretched, unscalable size.
    I cannot for the life of me figure out how to reduce the window to a normal readable size while being able to use my second monitor
    Thanks for any help!
    -Morgan

    I've had this happen and I always quit the affect application and restart it. To answer your question,  just momentarily going to the login screen and coming back solves the issue. If you have multiple user accounts on your Mac, go to the screen you would use to log in as another user (without logging off), but then rather than log in, just cancel and see if all returns to normal. In my case, since I have fast user switching enabled, I would click my name on the menubar, pick some other user, then cancel and not bother logging in as them.
    Hope this helps!

  • Maximize MBP- ALS, screen real-estate...

    Hey there,
    i've been trying to figure out a couple tricks for my new toy. i would like to see if i can run a couple things that i've seen within you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySLSos33QLc
    the cube-spin mainly
    also interested what other people think about parallel or boot camp.
    also the slapbook features. i've heard that you can do something with waving your hand over the ALS as well, located in the speakers.

    The "cube spin" is VirtueDesktops, usually on
    http://virtuedesktops.info/downloads/
    But the site seems down at the moment ... (can upload or send the installer it's only 2.6MB)
    SlapBook Pro uses the motion sensor not the light sensor.

  • When I sign on to firefox, the main screen disappears to the right. I tried to minimize, maximize, f11 full screen and even reinstall - same problem. Any ideas on how to fix?

    This issue has not happened before and just started yesterday. I have not installed any new programs and have no idea what may have triggered it. The program is running - I just cant see it.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • 2 GPUs, 3 screens on, x86-video-ati

    I currently use a Radeon HD 4890 using the xf86-video-ati drivers, the device utilizes two screens. However, I introduced a Radeon 9200 (pci, rev 01) into the system for the sake of a third screen. One option is to use xinerama. The other is to create a screen configuration file with:
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Device "radeon"
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen1"
    Device "Radeon 9200"
    EndSection
    A window will be confined to the screen where it was started, so this is not perfect. But we will have to wait until at least xorg-server-1.13 before this changes.
