Dub a video on a stick

Hello guys,
I want to dub a video from iMovie to a usb! But I don´t know how it works.. Can somebody help me please? It is really important cause I need it for an event on saturday!
I hope you can help me
Thanks allot!

You can use the export funtion, make a Quicktime Video (h.264 will be better in quality) and as a save target, select your USB Stick once it is mounted. The conversion might take a while depending on the Mac you are using.

  • Video to memory stick

I would like to transfer Video ( Quick time ) to a memory stick . What would be a good format to use ( file size ).

It depends on the size of your memory stick, the length of the video and whether it's standard or high definition.
Why do you want it on a memory stick  .  .  .  to archive it or simply to play elsewhere.
As a rule of thumb you can convert hi-def video to 720p using H.264 at a data rate of 5,000kbps.
This will give good quality hi-def video taking up around 2GB per hour.

  • How to put a video on USB-stick?

I want to share my edited video. (The video is HD)
Most people want to have the video on a USB-stick. They want to watch the video on TV.
(Formerly I produced a DVD, but the quality is only SD. I don't have a Blue Ray recorder)
What is the best way to put it on a stick?
    I also have Compressor.

in addendum to Russ' answer … :
The 'universal' format is a h264 in a mp4 container.
I'm noticing issues with 1080/'fullHD', because many people are lazy and try to playback straight from the stick = too slow = stutter, jam, trouble. So, usually I down-scale resolution to 720/25p (US: 30p), which allows a lower bit-rate (3-5mbps).
Some devices ask for a special folder-structure, my son's PS3 e.g. is looking for a MOVIES (all caps) folder, inside the mymovie.mp4 (encoded in h264). This Folder Structures differ by brand or model, read the manuals.
Another, fast way is: export in h264 from within FCPX; open resulting mov with free tool MpegStreamclip; go straight to 'Save as…' and choose in drop-down MP4 => no new encoding, just re-wrapping the mov into a mp4. Super-fast.
.... and, no, just changing the suffix doesn't do the trick ....

  • HT204382 How do I watch video from USB sticks please Thomas

Hello World, who knows how to watch video from a USB stick??

You click on the USB icon in a Finder window, and double-click the video....
Where the video is (hard drive, DVD drive, USB, network) makes no difference to OS X.
If you are having trouble making QuickTime play a particular video, it's probably because QuickTime doesn't support a lot of formats. Save yourself a lot of hassle and download the free VLC videoplayer and use that for playing your videos (whatever the format, VLC will probably play it):

do u hear any sound? How did u transfer the videos? When did this problem start?
Maybe the video format is not suppprted f u just hear sounds.
Try moving a small video to ur phone memory, remove the memory and try playin. If the video plays, then maybe ur memory card has problems.
If it still doesn't try usin videos of proper format. If u were able to play video before and u r not able to do so now, then u may have to do a soft reset..
And if u'v never been able to play a video, try transferrin video via the ovi suite or try convertin videos with a video converter like Videora, etc.
So plz provide some more details like yhe questions asked above so tht we cn assist u.

When I try to boot, I have no video what so ever, can't see a thing. My moniter just stays blank on boot up.
I tried clearing cmos, and pulling the battery, still nothing. I can hear my HD booting up and everything, just no video.
Tried taking all components out execpt video card, 1 stick of memory, and cpu/fan and still nothing, no beep codes or anything.
Tried taking out the processor and fan, still nothing, no beep codes.

i have no clue if it boots into windows, as I can't see anything.
if you leave it long enough (if the hard drive still buzzes like it is booting up) then you should still hear the Windows start up sound, that is if it is actually booting
has the card ever worked? has this system ever worked?
if it sounds like i'm clutching at straws, then i'm afraid i am, as the more information you can give as to the background of this problem, then the better the answers/suggestions you will get...

  • Skype 6.3 Video Calling and 10.8.3

There is a problem which affected a lot of users of Skype: ( http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac/Video-Problem-with-OS-X-10-8-3/td-p/1475301)
The problem started after upgrading OS X to 10.8.3.
I've the latest version of Skype, Version 6.3.59.582 and I've recently updated my Macbook Pro mid 2012 13" (no retina) to OS X 10.8.3. (Processor i7 2.9 Ghz, 8 Gb ram 1600 mhz)
Sometimes the video is sticking to some frames and it is than repeating them for some seconds or for an infinite time.
It happens also that my movement is in high quality but with a very low frame rate of 1fps or even less. And sometimes the video is just sticked to the same picture.
    And sometimes it works.
The only solutions seems to be to de-activate and re-activate the video during the call. But after some seconds the problems starts again.
Sometimes the problem seem connected to the blinking of the Facetime green LED.
I've tried with re-boot and re-installing Skype more than once.
I did not have this kind of issue before, I've checked the Facetime HD camera with Photo Booth or Facetime and it seems to work perfectly.
All of this happened after the last udpate 10.8.3.
Thank you in advance for a fast answer and bug fix.
    Francesco

Try switching off "Automatic graphics switching" in energy saver preferences. This worked for me!
Apple/Skype need to fix this as this effects battery life when option is not ticked.

  • Capturing video from system hard disk

    Hello
I am completely new to FCE. I did buy Tom Wolsky's book and worked through the tutorials with levels of success. I've decided to try a project of my own.
I videoed my son's lacrosse game recently and now I want to make a short video to present to the team. The camera I used was a Sony HCR1 HD. I did not intend to video in the high def mode, but I did.
I captured the video in imovie and subsequently used the share option to send the video to my desktop. I then used Mpeg streamclip to convert the format back to 4:3 which is the format I want to use.
Now that the video resides on the desktop in the format I want to use, can I capture it/import it into FCE to start my project, or should I play it back to the video camera and then play it back to use capture now in FCE?
If anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate your input. I know I could edit the video in iMovie, but I really want to tackle this FCE learning curve and get on with using it.
    Regards
    Carl

    Hi Studio X and David
Thank you for your reply. I'll bring you up to date on my FCE learning curve. First, Studio X I want to use the 4:3 format because the video will be given to each team member, and I know most of them will have a regular TV to view it on. Also I don't like the look of the black bars at top and bottom.
David, I tried to import the video file into FCE. It did import but the audio tracks simply made a beeping sound. A red bar at the top of the tracks indicate that the audio needed to be rendered. I tried that. It took about 32 minutes to render 58 minutes of video with audio. But alas, FCE crashed. I reopened it and the audio did not render. So, I went back to iMovie and transfered the file to it. I hooked up my video camera and dubbed the video back to tape ( share function ). Once the video was on tape, I opened FCE and used the capture now function. Finally, that worked. No crashes, no beeps, just video and audio as it should be.
Now, I'm going to try to do some editing -- of course I've got Tom's book handy by my side to refer to. I'll keep you posted. If you have further comments, I'd appreciate the imput.
    Regards

Video files are on LaCie 2big NAS. It connected to AirPort Extreme with ethernet cabe (1Gb). Home theater connected to AE router with WiFi. I can browse all the files on NAS, view photos but cant play any video now.
It plays video from USB stick, but cant play the same video from NAS with WiFi.
There no any setting on AirPort utility. What should I do? Whats wrong?

    The problem is solved.

  • Need to record VO with moving video

I'm trying to dub a video - I've gotten all the editing done, and I can extract the audio just fine. My plan was to record a new audio track of VOs and simply swap out each clip. However, I'm trying to sync the VOs with the moving "lips" of a sock puppet, which means I need to see the video moving while I'm recording the new audio. Instead, I get a still shot - I can't fake the timing that well. Is there a way to have the video moving while I record audio? The socks and I thank you in advance.

    Peter,
I assume you're recording using iMovie and clicking on the red record button in the Audio pane.
The playhead should move and you should be seeing your video as you record.
What kind of Mac do you have and with what speed processor?
    Matt

  • When digitising video gets stuck, then pushes video and audio out of sync

i am digitising from a deck rack, which is hooked up via a patch bay, with 2 J30-1 digi decks and 1 HDV deck. These are all connectable to my mac via some patch cables.
Recently when digitising, really only over the past two days, no matter which deck or tape format I am coming from, the video in my capture window gets stuck on a frame, and ends up capturing this frame until the tape jolts itself out of this frame.
When I review this clip, the video frame will stick, and then the audio is out of sync with it.
This happens on both digi's and DVCams, I am confused as to why this is happening, haven't seen it before.
    Any ideas much appreciated
    Lianne

not positive, but sounds like a hardware issue.... try going from source to machine and eliminate hardware..if it works...you've got a hardware issue.
i'd test each deck direct. then reconnect it to patchbay...much more intensive, but at least youd eliminate many issues. it might even be a bad cable. i had a similar experience with a bad firewire cable...so maybe you start with the cable running to your machine.....for me i'd go direct and eliminate issues step by step source to capture.

  • Replacing an audio track without re-encoding the video

I'm new to Audition CC so apologies for the basic question. I originally asked this in the Premiere Pro forum but I think it's more an Audition question..  I have AVCHD home video (MTS video with AC3 stereo audio) and have found I can clean up the audio, for example in speeches, very well in Audition. Is there a way to just replace the MTS's orginal audio track without re-encoding the video (which it seems I have to, if I do this via Premiere Pro)? In some cases the videos are poorly lit and any re-encoding makes them look noticeably worse than the original. In any event the video does not need re-encoding, I just need to replace the audio. Maybe I need to export the cleaned-up audio from Audition and use some other program to replace the audio in the original MTS file? Is that called re-muxing?  Thanks in advance for any help.

    Thanks Bob and Ryclark.
Bob, our aim is to copy these videos onto USB sticks, for our family to watch on our various home TVs, from a media player such as WD Home TV, a media PC or a laptop via HDMI cable. I expect the original MTS files, with cleaned up audio, will be fine. Media Info shows these to be video: AVC format, variable bit rate, 16.0 max bit rate, 1920x1080 pixels, 25.000 fps, 8 bit, interlaced; audio: AC3 format, 256 Kbps bit rate, 2 channels, 48.0 KHz sampling rate, 16 bits bit depth. I'm keen to avoid re-encoding the video, and it seems I can. My initial test worked and tonight (I'm in Australia) I'll test further... I can edit the AC3 audio in Audition, export it as a new AC3 with the same format as original, then use some other non-Adobe program to replace the original audio track with the new one, without touching the video.
Ryclark, I believe you are right. My novice-level understanding is that the process of separating the components of a video file such as my MTS file (video, audio and possibly others) into separate files is 'de-muxing' and putting them back together is re-muxing. Audition can save or export the original or edited audio track of my MTS file to a separate file so I assume that's like a specific audio de-mux. However I don't think Adobe products can re-mux without re-encoding the video (slow, larger resulting file size, worse video quality!), so I need some other program to replace my MTS file's audio with the new/edited audio.
So far I've found the free-ware Avidemux can do it but past experience is that free-ware can be a bit flaky or over time not as bullet-proof as a good/proven commercial product, so I'll look a bit further - or does someone in this forum know of such a product? HD Video Converter seems to be an option but it looks a bit amateurish.
By the way, if anyone is after a cut/join program to remove unwanted parts of a video without re-encoding the whole thing (ie. fast, same file size and unchanged video quality) I found Avidemux (free) only works on whole frames (GOP?) and the joins can have a little 'flick', whereas for $40-$50 a program like Fame Ring Smart Cutter for MTS videos (the Sony vidcam home video files I'm interested in) is frame accurate (it only re-encodes around the cut points) and works very well (smooth cut/join points). Smart Cutter doesn't do AVI videos (for my PC screen-recording videos) but I found SolveigMM Video Splitter Home Edition works well with those (not so well with my MTS files).

  • After effect videos for nonprofits

    Hello,
We are starting a new social enterprise to promote free eBooks and culture in general. We are a nonprofit and an after effects video explaining what we do would be a good starting point for our new website  http://www.encremento.com and blog http://www.encremento.com/blog
Can anyone recommend good examples of after effect videos explaining business model or campaigns?

I see the templates, rather old, but yes, they are a good starting point for a video. But nobody uses them for the entire video. Or, few people do anyway.
I don't know anyone using them for organizational messages, but then again, many of the ones I have from http://www.videoblocks.com/ could easily be used that way.
The examples of crowd funding where basically meant to show how people communicate a message. Nothing more.
I believe that once you have your elevator pitch, start getting the thoughts into a storyboard, then think about what kind of intro will draw people into watching the rest of the video, and maybe stick around to investigate the web site, you should be able to simple translate that storyboard into a video. Select a great intro, either dramatic, or exciting, or artistic, or whatever suits you. Pick some music that matches the personality of the organization, and get a great voiceover talent from within your organization if you can.
Once you have figured out what you want to say, the rest is just window dressing.

  • What is the difference between "dubbing" and just transfering files ?

I have a everio hd7 and I noticed that when I dub the video clips they get around 5x bigger than if I just copy them from the hard drive of the cam to the one in my computer. which one is a better method and why ?

    Karl,
By dubbing, I assume you mean capturing your video with FCE. When you do this from your camera, FCE transodes the video into Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) which does take more hard disk space than the 'native' MPEG2-TS format that your camera records to its internal hard drive. 1080i MPEG2 consumes about 12 GB/hr of video, while AIC requires about 50GB/hour. Here is more detailed information about the files sizes resulting from the codecs => Final Cut Pro 5: About HDV and the Apple Intermediate Codec. The video needs to be in AIC in order to edit it in FCE.
Ian - regarding the term 'dubbing', people generally use it to mean copying a video or audio from one source to another, such as copying a videotape. Its original, and technical, meaning however is to replace the dialog in a video/movie with an alternate dialog, such as a different actor/actress' voice, or a different language.

  • Funny Home Video Trick

Hi ... I have Final Cut Studio 5.1 and I am just beginning to scratch
the surface of its capability. One thing I played with a little is a
trick they do on America's Funniest Videos where they stick the hosts
face on top of existing video. His face is a still and it is placed
over the face of the person in the video. The picture "still" changes
when something happens in the video (e.g. gets hit in crotch) to
reflect his facial expression. I took a still into Adobe Photoshop and
cut the head off and made the background green. I then opened up a
video that I want to use in Motion and imported the picture. I then
added the chroma-keying filter and aligned the picture over the video
actor's face. This worked great, but when the person moves a little
the "still" face doesn't move with so I would have to add another
layer to scootch the "still" over a little on the video. Is there a
way in Motion or Final Cut to have the "still" anchor to the face in
the video so it moves around the screen?
    Thanks,
    Jay

Turn on the Record button, step through the video, moving the face and changing it's rotation as needed. Each of your changes will be recorded as keyframes.
Btw, you don't need to make the background green in Photoshop - just keep it transparent, will save you a step in Motion and will look better.
