Dubbing problem
I have some source material on Hi8 tape. I have a Sony TR101 Handycam.
I am dubbing this material onto miniDV tape on a Canon Elura Digital Video Camcorder. I then transfer video from the Elura onto my PowerMac G5 via firewire.
The problem is that the final video always has a "video static" streak on the bottom of the frame. This is not obvious until it is played on the computer. It does not appear on the Hi8 tape. It does not appear on the miniDV tape. It only occurs when I import the miniDV material into my computer and view it on my computer. It does not matter what brand tape. And I have played around a bit with the settings in the Canon Elura.
Does anyone have an explanation, or better yet a cure.

Hi Moses - yes, that is common with that type of
dubbing - mine did the same. But the good news is
that on a TV it almost certainly will not show up.
It is called 'overscan' - see here:
Typical televisions and many monitors lose nearly
20% of the picture by "cropping" the image. It is
this lost portion that is commonly referred to as
overscan. The information is not actually "lost," but
it has been banished to an existence off-screen, in
the twilight zone found just beyond the borders of
the visible area of your TV screen. Overscan is done
intentionally, often to conceal a deficient
TV/monitor power supply and/or video processing
circuitry.

Netflix Dubbing Problem After Update
I've owned an Apple TV 2nd Generation since they were released. Use it everyday to watch Netflix. We use that instead of cable.
After the update this week, we get dubbing problems with Netflix.
Note, we have used Netflix on this Apple TV for months without ever experiencing this issue. We never experienced it once.
Since the update, we get this problem, everytime we watch Netflix shows.
What happens is the show plays for a few minutes, and then the video track jumps ahead of the audio by a few seconds. That is, after a few minutes of play, the audio no longer matches the video at all.
This never happen before the update. Now, it happens every time.
Does anyone else experience this?I have the exact same problem, and like the OP, it didn't start until the new update came out earlier this month. My "fix" is to rewind the show a few seconds, which is also out of sync (the display says I'm backing up one or two seconds, but once I release it actually has backed up more like 30 or so seconds). If I'm unlucky, I may have to go through this rigamarole two or even three times in the same show, but usually once is enough. It always screws up within the first five minutes, usually within the first two.
How exactly are we supposed to restore the ATV "just like an iPod" when the only inputs on the device are HDMI, digital audio, ethernet and power? -

You can't install it. iPads bought in Dubai have Facetime blocked by the device's serial number, so you won't be able to install it via iOS updates either. It is a requirement of the Dubai government that Facetime is not available on iPads bought in their country

My daughter has just bought me an iPad 2 from Dubai and set it all up for me but unfortunately the iMessage function doesn't seem to work. We keep getting messages,when trying to activate it, that there is a network connection problem - help!
Thank you both for your responses but my daughter was reassured by the salesman in the iStyle store (official Apple store in the UAE) that iMessages would work but conceded that FaceTime wouldn't. My iTunes account is registered in the uk and my daughter's iPhone has iMessages even though she bought it (and uses it) in Dubai. Can anyone else throw any light on this?

In October 2013 I was on Vacationin Dubai and bought there Macbook pro retina ME665. I returned to Kyrgystan (home town) and for New Year I was away for a week. When I came back i found that the dispaly of my laptop became white and black, some lines appeared on it. Everybody in my family told me that no one has dropped my laptop or done anything that can cause this problem. there is no any service provider of apple in my country. WIl, the international warranty cover this case? I bought this laptop not from apple store,but in a simple store and I lost reciept.

The query i have is that ,, i have an iphone which i purchased from dubai . facetime was blocked on it when i purchased it . however now i use the phone in india and i want to use facetime on it .
i wanted to know if there is any way i can activate facetime on it .
i am having the same problem with the 4s i purchased from riyadh .You can't. FaceTime has been permanently removed from your phone, there is no way to add it back. Next time, buy your phone in India.

I got an iPhone 4S as a gift while I was in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. However, I haven't used the phone until today and I discovered a problem - Siri doesn't want to work at all. And I know there are a million threads like this, but mine is different. Here is what happens:
1. First I go into Settings>General> and see that Siri is there
2. Tap on Siri, and it shows that Siri is disabled. Okay, so I enable it.
3. Press home button to quit settings. Now I hold home button for Siri, but nothing happens!
4. I go back into Siri settings, and it shows that Siri is OFF, although just a second ago I had switched the **** thing ON!

Thanks!Thanks- contacted Du, they advised me to visit the outlet where i bought the device from originally. Hope they will really replace/ fix the issue. Would apple dictate they fix the issue?

The local retailer Sharaf DG needs 10 days to check the issue, not helpful at all. I spent more money to buy it from the retailer instead of the online store, and when I called Apple support they said they couldn't help me as I bought the phone from the retailer and not online. I'm extremely disappointed as this is my first iOS device and I've been told about how the iPhone is bulletproof. Guess i got a lemon.
Ok Guys, got the device back. Service centre said they replaced the Display and touch panel. I would have preferred a new phone, but whatever. I just hope this does it and the problem is fixed. @Robo, I've also got a new nano-SIM from the carrier, so hopefully now anything that can cause the phone to go crazy, is fixed.
Will update everyone in a week to confirm that the issue is resolved. Many thanks for everyone's responses. -

Warranty service is only available in the country of purchase. You will need to return to the UAE.

my Microsoft office is 2011
what i can doMS Office for Mac does not really support Arabic. But you may just have a font problem. Disconnected letters means a Windows font is being used. Change the font to a Mac font like Geeza Pro.
For better Arabic support, try OpenOffice. -
As i said before, i live in brasil and i´m thinking about buying the new iMac 21.5" at Dubai. My question is will the system operate in english and will the power supply outlet come diferently as it happens in Europe.

After successful use of two WD 500 GB external drives something has happened and the drives show up, but I cannot access any files. One drive holds all of my pictures in iPhoto, but as soon as I attempt to run iPhoto the program stops responding and will no longer open through the HDD. My other external holds all of my business documents, and while the folders show up in Finder, none of the files show up when I open the folders. This problem began when I plugged my iPhoto drive in at the same times as an iTouch to dump some pictures. Halfway through the dump the HDD disappeared and has not worked since. Both of my drives work on a friend's Mac, so he recommended that I buy a USB hub to plug everything into as he suggested that my USB ports are not supplying the needed power to run the HDDs. I bought a D-Link DUB-H7, but the same problem persists. I have reset the PRAM, but nothing changed. Any advice will be extremely appreciated.
By the way, my iPhoto is version 8.1.

The code works when I remove the reference to the variables "username" & "password" in Connection "conn" call & replace them with the actual username & password, but this is not exactly what I was after. I was hoping to make the program responsive to each individual user, not set in code.
I also would like to make the program pause after the call in "main" to "PassDB" to wait for "PassDB" to exit before continuing.
I would also like to make "PassDB" destroy itself after the "OK" button is pressed & the "username" & "password" set.
If that isn't enough for you, I would really like the program to search 2 different database tables, return their values & compare them to be sure that they are the same.

Selection problem on ADRC Table.
Dear Exparts.
please see the Query:

In this selection, when I send p_country = AE and p_city = Dubai I cannot get any data. But there have data In DB.
But when I send p_country = DE and p_city = Berlin I can get porper data.
Can anybody solve this problem.
