Duel video capture cards and Windows 7 MCE

Hello, I'm wondering why WMC will only see (1) video capture card, when (2) are installed?
I have DirecTV with HD STB (2) which do not require tuners, they have HDMI output (or component RGB output), so a capture card is what I'm using to bring video to my computer. WMC works great with (1) card, but won't see a second card installed.
I have searched TGB and found this link:

and have applied the changes recommended, but still it won't work. The article states the problem is NO 2nd PVR is installed and the steps to install it. I've rebooted and still don't have a 2nd instance of a PVR.
Hauppauge is no help at all, gives me the same instructions...
What am I missing here, possibly roll back the driver? I installed the current version...

Need Video Capture Card and DVD Burner Quick!

Here's my situation. I've created some movie titles in iMovie and have no way to get them from my Macintosh to my DVD/VCR to incorporate them in a tape I'm making. I need it like NOW as a lot of people are waiting for copies of the tape!
For some time I've wanted a device called a video capture card. It has the ability to play videos on your computer and you can print out images from them. What I want to do is make DVDs of my VHS home movies. I did learn you can't just walk into any local store and buy such a device; it must be ordered.
Desperation is a great motivator and finally (duh) I decided to look at a site specializing in Macintosh products, instead of studying every capture card online. Surprisingly, they offer three models: one cheap ($50-some), one at twice the price of the first, and a third at ten times the price of the second! That's quite a jump! So, as I understand this, I somehow connect this device to my computer (Power Mac G4), hook a VCR to it, and then I can play videotapes on my computer. If I'm in a desperate hurry to burn DVDs I suppose my friend's DVD player will also connect to this device, or am I wrong in this?
Even if I am right (that a DVD player/burner will connect to this) I still don't see how that gives ME a DVD burner with which to transfer my videos to DVD! My combo player will make videos from DVDs but not the other way around! So do I have to run out and buy a DVD burner, and should it be any special kind since it will be used with a device connected to a Macintosh? I need this ASAP so thanks for any advice, or clarification to my understanding of how this process works!

Lennart's links are very good and informative. But one thing you should know is that an external DVD burner will not play a DVD - it only burns them. Since you want to view the DVD and pause at a particular scene and print it, you'll need some way to view your DVD. You also need a way to convert the iMovie project with the imported VHS footage, to a burnable format. iDVD can do that, but I noticed you have OS X 10.2 (Jaguar). If you don't have iDVD you'll need to buy it from the Apple store.

You also need a media player so you can view your final DVD. I did some quick research and found out that none of the free media players allows you to print - which is what you want to do. There are quite a few free media players available, like Nice player and Xine Player, but you need Panther or higher to use them. Because you're running OS X 10.2, the only free media player that you can use is VLC media player. To download a free VLC player go to: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ You do need QT 6.5.2. or higher. So you may need to update your QT.
You can't print a paused image, but you can take a snap shot of the still image, then print that. Snap Shot=CommandShift4. This will allow you to select the paused picture in the screen, or if you like just a portion of that paused picture. It will save on your desktop as a picture. Double click on the Picture, then print that.
Then it sounds like after you've burned the DVD with your titles, you will need to connect a VHS recorder to a DVD player and record your DVD on to VHS tape.

How can I asociate a DataSource to a Port for my Video Capture Card???

First of all, I sorry for my bad english.
I'm trying to manage ports of my Video Capture Card.It's 4 ports. I believe I can manage it cause running this code I found in a web, I can see a panel called Video Source that contain all my capture devices (the capturer card too) and the four ports. Ports have been asociate like SVIDEO, TVTUNNER, COMPOSITE, COMPOSITE2. I'm trying use PortControl, but I don't ontain nothing. I'm learning java for around only three weeks, I don't know very much.
My question: How can I asociate a DataSource to a Port for my Video Capture Card and so manage 4 streamings data . Should I work Port Control over a medialocator, a datastream, a player...?
I'm looking forward your answers. I'm very sad cause this problem.

I have a pinnacle usb pctv deluxe video capture card and so far im not able to get it to work, i have tried using pctv_gtk that i got off of source forge and installed dunetools and dunelib but im still not able to even get udev to understand what it is if anyone has got one of these to work please let me know

What are some video capture cards that accept DV i.Link (IEEE 1394) inputs and work with FME 3? The hassle with Windows and DV is just too annoying.

i use a tv-card with my camera through linking them with a composite cable. Also, my tv card has capturing capability and i use JMF to do a capture program with these tools and the result is good for me. The monitor.zip file wihich contains a sample of capturing and monitoring simultaneously exists on sun.com. I use it and it was very helpfull for me.
JMF detects cards through its 'CaptureDeviceManager' which is a controller type object. If you specify like Vector devices = CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(null) -> You will be get the list of appropriate devices on your pc.

iChat will set up a Video chat window that takes in to account your Processor speed and Internet Speed and to some extent the Buddy's speed.
This then denotes the pixel content of each frame.
OS X 10.6.x tells me this is iChat 5 which in turn mean you have at least an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor.
This should be capable of 30 frames a sec at about 640 X 480 pixels (Check the Connection Doctor (Video Menu) and the Statistics tab during a Chat).
iChat 5 cannot do HD (Max of 4:3 ratio at the above figures)
After that it depends how you are recording the chat.
Quicktime X would do it.
iChat will do it itself (if the Buddy agrees)

In Need of Video Capture Card

I am a digital video editor working with Adobe Premiere 6.0. I have noticed that when I try to capture video on the program all I get is a grey screen with no video and no audio ,however, I do get device control. I have learned that I do not have a video capture card installed on my computer. I moved on down the list and contacted Blackmagic Design. They have contacted me back, however, do not have an answer ready yet. Here are the specs for my computer...

We recently purchased the A-D Bridge from tiger direct. It is the ADVC-110 from Canopus. We believe we have it hooked up correctly, but unfortunately we have the same problem.

Video capture card for 64 bit operating systems

We capture video that comes in analogue from a satellite feed. It comes in 24 hours per day. I have taken that and fed into a pci Green Valley Canopus capture card ACEDVio, (RCA fittings), and then I capture using Scenalyer. I have done this for three years, with great success. Since I am now using Windows 7, I have discovered that The Green Valley card does NOT work with 64 bit. I contacted Gree Valley and they admit that it will not work. The EXTERNAL Canopus 110 does work, but it is not reliable for 24/7 use, because sometimes it will shut down. I need an internal card that will stay on all of the time. Can anyone help with this?

Thank you for taking the time to offer a responce. As to the "dual boot" suggestion: I do not know how to do that, although I could research just how to do it. My conserns are: XP is being completely abandoned by Microsoft. I am challenged every time that I have to do a re-install using XP, (I manage 26 computers for a company). For about a year now, it has been more and more time consumng, because Microsoft seems to be making it that way. I am guessing that the "XP" part would be for running 32 bit and the Win 7 part would be for the 64 bit, is that true? More on the subject would be good. Where to find inforation as to using that option.
It would be great if there was a video capture card that would work with Premiere and the Win 7 64 bit operating system. There must be someone that makes one. A guy at Tigert Direct suggested a Haupauge WinTV-HVR1250. I am going to have to call Haupauge to confirm. The biggest thing is ALWAYS that it will work with Premiere, and our Scenalyzer program

my son wants to buy a video capture card, so that he can save video footage from games played on his x-box 360, onto his mac-mini. there are cheap adaptors available on eBay for £5 or £10 but they invariably say windows (like the description below does). they are just usb 2.0 so i don't see why they wouldn't work for me, or are there mac versions available?

Why Expensive Video Capture Cards?

In these times of file based workflows, how important are video capture cards apart from being able to monitor timelines on external video monitors. Considering how expensive some of these cards are.

My Storm card is gathering dust in a PC's carcass two rooms away. I haven't used it in two years but can't bare to bin it. Really a wonderful card, The RaptorRT as well. The RT Chroma Key was way more than Premeire could do alone, and could be run synchronously with the RT color correction and RT blur capabilities, as well as several other useful RT fx.
For work I bought Premiere Pro 1.5, Audition, and Photoshop with a Canopus RaptorRT all for $599 from VideoGuys in 2004ish. That P4 system built for $900 I was proud of setting up a RT DV NLE system that had A\D ability, Pristine DV output and RT performance that was on par with system that cost 10 times as much.
I'm equally enamored with the Mercury Playback Engine Hardware Acceleration. However the essential GTX or Quadro cards sort of serve in the same capacity as the oldschool proprietary Capture\RT cards. While not used for capture, it does accelerate the RT capabilities of a properly configured system. Unlike a fixed RT I\O card, MPE performance can scale with your systems cpus, ram, and choice of Nvidia card.
On Topic....Modern capture cards... Very useful for Studio Capture. Analog, SDI switchers.or HDMI from cameras. Usually a fixed box integrated into control-room. Aja, Bluefish, BlackMagic are some better names. Also, you mentioned the playback\monitoring abilities these cards offer in your post. This fine monitoring ability is crucial to some peoples workflow. CS6 is supposed to help these 3rd party cards integrate better than some earlier versions.
More from 2005.... I also chose a Matrox system..... different experience. The deal again was incredible, a premiere pro 1.5 combo suite with an upgrade to Premiere Pro 2.0 editing suite with After Affects and Audition. Plus a Matrox Card, which was a pain to get running and was never stable and offer little advantage over a vanilla kit. When the Matrox card worked, the RT color correction was a benefit, and the RT scaling & 3d perspective tools were useful. A little known benefit of a matrox card that made the purchase worthwhile for us was the ability output composite or S-video NTSC from any clip or stream that would play in the windows media player. So we could always get odd materials to dv easy that way. Like a 3 hour landuse meeting that a tech forgot to roll tape on, but the web streaming box got it, at 360x240. The Matrox card scaled it to NTSC.
... Then it Blew up. The end.

Plug-in for StarTech Video Capture Card

StarTech'website shows their ECHDCAP ExpressCard video capture card supports Adobe Premiere CS5 plug-in for editing. I talked to a Tech at StarTech and he said the card should work with Premiere Pro CS5 & CS6 but StarTech doesn't support it, and he didn't know where I can get the Premiere SC5 plug-in. Does anyone know what plug-in StarTech is referring to, and where I can get it?
If anyone is currently using the ECHDCAP capture card or the StarTech USB3HDCAP Capture Device, please let me know how you got it working with Premiere Pro.

I probably should have given you more information. This application is different than what I usually use Premiere for.
One of my hobbies is shooting long range rifles at 1,000 yards. I'm trying to capture the point of impact on steel targets 500 to 1,000 yards away. I've attached my XA10 to my Swarovski spotting scope so I can see the impact. I've been transferring the video from the XA10 to my computer through the USB port, then importing the video into Premiere and adding it to the sequence. By the time I get all this done, then scrub the video to find the frame with the initial BANG, then count 41 frames forward for 870 yards, then scrub the video again to find the impact point, the wind and several other conditions have changed which affect my next shot. this makes for a long and tedious day.
The bottom line is... I'm trying to streamline my workflow so I can capture the video from my XA10 straight to a Premiere sequence, then start scrubbing the video to find the point of impact.
The reason I'm using Premiere is because none of my other programs allow me to scrub with audio.
I would prefer not to spend $600 for a Maxtor MX02 Mini and ExpressCard adapter; especially since it requires 110 volts and that's not available at the shooting range.
If you know of another way to do this, or can recommend an inexpensive program that will allow me to capture audio and video from my XA10 and scrub it with audio, I'd sure appreciate hearing about it.

Hi there. I'm going to purchase a video capture card so I can feed my camcorder, vcr etc. into my iBook. I want to know what people are using and how they like it. DO you use firewire or USB? etc.

iMovie (and Final Cut) expect video via FireWire.
If you select a video over USB solution you will need to find a Mac compatible software application to read and recognize it.

If you use iMovie, FCE, FCP, BTV or Live Capture and an analog-to-digital converter you can capture via Firewire; the converter will do the job of the capture card. One of the more popular models is the Canopus AVDC-110.

Dazzle Capture Card and HDTVs

Okay i have a dazzle capture card and i want to use it with a new hdtv but none of the hdtvs
seem to have the right output unless i dont know what its called please help me!

The N95 does not have facility for a hardwired audio/video input & the PC capture card likewise have only a audio/video input ports, where one can capture video from a video players, or TV receivers. You wanted to stream a video from PC to the phone, its not possible.
