Duet Enterprise 1.0 SP2 - SAP Role based authantication

Hi All,
We have implemented Duet Enterprise 1.0 SP2 in our landscape. Now we try to implement SAP Role based authantication.
But don't know which role to assign for which authorisation. In my scenario i have created 2 users. For one user i want to have only read access to all lists (Contact, Employee, etc) and for another user i want to have all acess (read, write, modify, delete) on all lists available at sharepoint.
Can someone help me to tell what roles (template) need to assign for what operation.
Which roles i do assign to user in SAP that which ristrict users access at Sharepoint.
Thanks & Regards

Hi Binson,
I want to ristrict the crude operation (create, update etc) by giving roles in backend system. i am able to apply restriction at sharepoint end but i don't want that. i want SAP role based security.
So i want, according to given roles in backend system user is able to do operations at sharepoint.
Thanks & Regards

  • Duet Enterprise 2.0 -  Accessing SAP DMS Documents

    Hi,
Is there any possibility to access the SAP DMS documents using Duet Enterprise 2.0 from SharePoint 2013?
If the answer is No, then what is the starter services in DE 1.0 and why the DMS functionality is included in that and not in DE 2.0, which will be the easy way to access SAP documents from the SharePoint. Is there any alternative?
Please clear my queries, i'm eager to know the reason behind it.
    Thanks,
    Kamal

    Hi Kamal,
The DE 1.0 Starter Services models are available on the DE 2.0 Software package.  To implement Starter Services for DE 2.0 you should follow all of the steps in the DE 1.0 FP1 documentation with the exception of importing on SharePoint.  I have attached a document with the commands required to import the Starter Services to SharePoint.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem in update operation for duet enterprise 1.0 from SharePoint end.

Hi Everyone, I have developed a sap netweaver duet enterprise 1.0 to send the data from sap to share point and from share point to sap. The problem is that I am able to test the data successfully from duet system in sap for all the operations  Query, Read & Update and I am getting the required output.
But from share point end when they are hitting the data for Query, Read & Update operations the query and read operations are successful but the update operation is getting failed. I unable to trigger the break point for update operation. I have checked the log but in that i am getting BULK READ status.
Can anyone help me out in resolving this issue.

  • DUET Enterprise vs BO BI Integration Option for Microsoft Sharepoint

I am struggling to find the right management overview to position DUET Enterprise vs BO BI Integration for Microsoft Sharepoint.
My high level definition of DUET Enterprise is to expose SAP Data and Processes into the Microsoft Sharepoint Environment (especially for non professional user = casual user).
Obviously these casual users need to see, to retrieve or to refresh some BW reports (knowing we are using or will use BO BI 4.0).
It seems DUET Enterprise does not support this scenario .... and we need to use another solution called : BO BI Integration Option for Sharepoint (detailed doc [here|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir4/en/400sp2_ioms_getstarted_en.pdf]).
I am confused (I can not picture it) why we need 2 different products (medium - long term).
    Could you somebody explain :
    1. to confirm we need currently these 2 products
    2. why we will need 2 different products in the future ?
    Thanks.

    Hi Patrick,
I was also trying to find some information this topic for the last few days when I came across your thread. There has been a similar discussion earlier in [this SDN thread|Duet Enterprise vs BO Integration Option for Microsoft Sharepoint u2013 IOMS;.
After seeing the capabilities of IOMS, I can say these two products are very different. IOMS has different web parts to render BO/BW dashboards, reports ect. whereas Duet Enterprise is an integration platform for connecting various SAP systems (of type ABAP now), using which we can view/operate on any SAP object, integrate workflow and fetch SAP reports as document.
Duet Enterprise provides SSO and role based access to SAP data which seems to be missing in IOMS.
At this point it seems both these products have different capabilities with similarities in report publishing (Duet Enterprise can only publish reports from BI and other ABAP based system directly to SharePoint document library; not sure what IOMS does in this area).
I guess at this point if your requiremtn is to only provide a SharePoint based frontend to Bo/BI IOMS has to be used, however if you need to build applications with SAP data or around SAP processes Duet Enterprise has to be used.

  • SAP xRPM/PPM5.0 and Duet Enterprise

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to integrate Duet Enterprise into this landscape whereby SAP xRPM is our backend as we are upgrading to PPM 5.0 soon and Sharepoint 2010. Most of the examples that I've seen are using ECC 6.0 as backend however in this case we are using xRPM, as for the front end we uses SAP NW Portal.
Just trying to find out more on what are the possibilities of introducing Duet Enterprise into our landscape. Hope some of the experts here can provide more input in this.
    Regards,
    Jordi

    Hi Jordi,
In general, you use pretty much any ABAP-based system as your backend system for Duet Enterprise (on Gateway). There are two ways to communicate between the backend system and Gateway:
    - RFC: Here you can connect to backends all the way down to 4.6C
    - Web Service: Here you need to check from which release on the web service you want to use is available
I am not an xRPM expert. Please feel free to come back with more specific questions for this scenario.
    Cheers, Alex

  • Can we use the ESR of XI 7.0 with the Microsoft SAP Duet Enterprise

    Hi Experts,
I am working on the Microsoft and SAP product DUET enterprise and we are going to use ESR of XI netweaver for defining the web service structures.
In demo we have used it with PI 7.1 where we have the concept of Service Interface with multiple operations.
But we have PI 7.0 in the landscape which has Message Interface instead of service interface and doesnt have multiple operations.
My doubt is whether we can use the IR of PI 7.0 while working with DUET enterprise.
If Yes, please explain in detail.
If no, what are the varios options available?

    Hi Disciple11,
As you said, Service Interface with multiple operations are supported from PI 7.1 onwards. Mostly SAP does not deliver enterprise services with multiple operaiotns as it would be impossible to import for customers those who are in lower versions like XI 3.0, 7.0 etc.
For DUET enterprise, you can create a back end operation proxy in service consumption layer either from a RFC or from a WSDL URL. Nevertheless I think it would not be possible to import the PI content with multiple operations for a serrive interface to PI 7.0 and below.
    Thanks,
    Sankar

  • SharePoint 2013 and SAP connectivity / SAP Gateway for Microsoft and Duet Enterprise 2.0

    Hello,
we are investigating the connection possibilities of SharePoint 2013 with SAP.
The basic scenario in our cases involves the transfer of documents and/or metadata from SharePoint to SAP possibly through a Workflow in SharePoint.
From my research the most promising official (no 3d-party) interfaces that can be used are the Duet Enterprise 2.0 and the SAP Gateway for Microsoft.
From my understanding both interfaces allow only the consumption of Data from SAP to SharePoint and not vice versa. Moreover the interoperability of documents seems not be supported. Are CRUD operations from a SharePoint native lists to SAP supported?
Can someone please clarify this topics?
I have found lots of documentation concerning the interfaces but not a clear answer to this questions.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Ioannis

    Hi Ioannis,
It seems that there is no built in method to get data from SharePoint list in SAP.
As a workaround, we can export SharePoint list to excel and then use that spread sheet as a source data in SAP.

  • Duet Enterprise - SAP Microsoft

    Hi,
I need to give a demo for Duet Enterprise.
I am planning to give the leave application and cancelation approval process (workflow for couple of leave types).
Q 1) What all are the initial configuration /steps  which I have to do from HCM point of  view?
    -     Hire employees /approvers
    -     Configuration of leave types and quotas
    -                    User ids created in SAP r/3 and IT0105 email
    -                    My understanding is basic SAP workflow should be there for share point to access. Hope its correct.
    -                    What esle to do??

    Hello Thomas,
Please find my inline reply to your questions.
+I need to give a demo for Duet Enterprise.+
For giving duet demo. First you have to install & configure Duet Enterprise in your Landscape. after that you have to configure wat you want to do in HR.
for out of box possiblity is below in Duet Enterprise
    1. Workflow Approval
    2.Reporting
    3.Mysite
    4.Profile Synchronization
    5. Enterprise Collaboration
    6. SAP intgration- Starter Services.
others you can customorize as you want to do.
I am planning to give the leave application and cancelation approval process (workflow for couple of leave types).
In out of box here only Leave approval/cancellation is possible.
For applying Leave you need to design custome development
Q 1) What all are the initial configuration /steps which I have to do from HCM point of view?
create two personal numbers with 1 reportee and 1 his approver.
maintain correct data in infotype 105  and maintain Leave Quota in Infotype 2006
Appy a Leave in R3 using PTARQ t code with Test Application Tab with reportee personal number
    - What esle to do??
For Duet enterprise.  Give access to Leave workflow Task in SharePoint. go to Transaction SE 38 and Run ABAP Report- RSWNSEL and OSP_FULL/OSP_DELTA you configured in ERP and then run ABAP Report-  S_OSP_WF_ITEM_SELECTION.
Then check you will get Leave workflow approval Task in SharePoint. Login with approver employee id in SharePoint and approve the Leave .

  • Future of SAP NetWeaver Portal besides Duet Enterprise!!!

What about the future of SAP NetWeaver Portal when you have Duet Enterprise? I think it would be a strategic collapse of SAP NetWeaver Portal while Sharepoint portal is running in Parallel. I can't see both portal running in parallel. From end users perspective, Sharepoint portal acceptability would be more high as far as UI and Microsoft services are concerned.
    Discussion is required.

    Hi Ghazanfar,
Duet 1.5 is still supported by both SAP and Microsoft. However, no more features will be developed on top of Duet 1.5. Keeping this in mind -- and also the fact that Duet 1.5 offered quite "static" scenarios (you cannot really enhance / modify anything) I would very much recommend to consider Duet Enterprise.
Right now Duet Enterprise does offer some scenarios out of the box but we already see a lot of partners jumping on Duet Enterprise and developing their own scenarios on top. In addition to that SAP & Microsoft are also currently planning to develop additional content on top of Duet Enterprise.
Using SharePoints BCS functionality you can also integrate Microsoft Outlook with Duet Enterprise. For example in the Starter Services that are available with Duet Enterprise we showcase how you can synchronize ERP contacts without any coding into Outlook. Obviously more fancy UIs will also require coding. But the fact is -- you can do it. If something is not as you like it, you can modify / adjust it.
So having said that I would clearly recommend to use Duet Enterprise instead of Duet 1.5 -- even if you have already SAP NetWeaver Portal running.

    Holger.

  • Dynamiclly assign responsible agent based on SAP role

    Hello Experts,
I have users set up in SAP and specific roles assigned to these users. for less maintenance purpose, I would like to know:
Is it a way, we can use roles to find SAP users, then assign these users as workflow responsible agents?
I do not want to maintain orgnizaion structure. just want to call sap role to assign the users.
Is it a SAP standard way to do it? I did not find too much information on my question, can you please give me some insights on how to do it?
    I appreciate your time!
    Estell

    Hi,
in agent definition for workflow steps you are allowed to use roles.
    So just try it out.
    Kind regards, Rob Dielemans

  • Adding one more ECC to Duet Enterprise landscape

    Hi Experts,
i have a Duet Enterprise landscape configured where i have one SCL system and one ECC system. As of now, Reporting and Workflow scenarios are configured on the ECC system.
Now i would like to add another ECC (say ECC_2) system into the landscape where i can work with Starter Services.
Please clarify following doubts regarding the same.
    1. Can i add this ECC_2 using installation wizard using just "Connect to SAP system" step or do i need to run all the steps in the installation wizard?
    2. While running this step, do i need to specify 1 in the textbox or 2 (which indicates number of SAP systems). If i specify 1 and go ahead with the ECC_2 details, will it over-write the configurations done earlier for ECC ??
    3. Is it possible to change the source system for "Reporting" / "Workflow" after the installation ? (i mean later as per my preference)
    ~ Ramanath.

    Hi,
yes, adding a second system is no problem. That is actually one of the great "features" of Duet Enterprise: you can easily connect multiple system and expose (even aggregated) data to SharePoint.
    1. Can i add this ECC_2 using installation wizard using just "Connect to SAP system" step or do i need to run all the steps in the installation wizard?
Yes, you can do that. Just de-select all but the "Connect to SAP System". When executing this step, the required RFC destinations (both on the SCL and the backend system) will be created, as well as required trusts will be established (e.g. exchange PSE certificates for Web Service Trust / SAP Logon Ticket and Trusted System connections for RFC based communication)
    2. While running this step, do i need to specify 1 in the textbox or 2 (which indicates number of SAP systems). If i specify 1 and go ahead with the ECC_2 details, will it over-write the configurations done earlier for ECC ??
Leave the 1 in the textbox. This is just a number of how many system you want to connect.
    3. Is it possible to change the source system for "Reporting" / "Workflow" after the installation ? (i mean later as per my preference)
Yes, that is also possible. If you take a look at the IMG (SIMGH -> Service Consumption Layer Administration -> General Settings -> Manage Business Object Groups) that's where the "applications" are stored. These Business Object Groups represent the different applications that you see and use in SharePoint. So for example you see the Business Object Group "SPI_WORKFLOW" (if you used the default BC set configuration) which contains the Business Object "IW_WF_TASK".
Now if you take a look at the "Assign SAP System Aliases" (just select "SPI_WORKFLOW" and double click on "Assign SAP System Aliases") you can see to which server this Business Object Group / scenario is assigned. If the "User Role" is empty this means that all users on the SCL are assigned to this system. Via this table you could assign different roles to different backend system.
This "System Alias" is -- as the name says -- just an alias for the real RFC destination that points to your backend system. If you want to see what backend system this is, you have to go to SIMGH -> Service Consumption Layer Administration -> Connection Settings -> SCL to SAP System -> Manage SAP System Aliases  here you can see which System Alias points to which RFC destination.
So in your case -- if you want to switch the backend systems -- you can either change the RFC destination that is assigned to a system alias here, or you create a new system alias (with the RFC destination that points to your new backend system) and assign this System alias to the Business Object Group.
I know it might sound confusing the first time you do it, but it all makes sense and is pretty logic if you get used to it.
    Regards,
    Holger.

  • Duet Enterprise 1.0 with CRM Sales Management

    Hello,
we heard that Duet E 1.0 with sp2 with Business Packs releasing in June 2011.
    1. Any idea when Duet Enterprise BP1 will release  ?
    2.  is CRM Sales Management and Oppertunity Management is covered in this
    3. before implimenting bp1 do we have to impliment duet enterprise 1.0 with sp2.
    4. Can we directly integrate CRM and SharePoint 2010 with duet E.
    Regards,
    Shashank

    Hi Shashank,
    1. Any idea when Duet Enterprise BP1 will release ?
The plan is to release BP1 (or Feature Pack 1 as it is called) in Q3/Q4. The nomination for the Ramp-up has started. If you are interested you can apply via the [Online Scoping|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000715662&]. Enter your customer data and select "Feature Pack 1 for Duet Enterprise 1.0 " in the next step.
    2. is CRM Sales Management and Oppertunity Management is covered in this
Feature Pack 1 will cover some contact-based scenarios of CRM.
    3. before implimenting bp1 do we have to impliment duet enterprise 1.0 with sp2.
You can start with Duet Enterprise 1.0 SP02 right now and later update to Feature Pack 1 (by this you will already have done some mandatory steps like setting up the trust between the SharePoint and the SAP system already). If you do not want to start now, you can also wait for Feature Pack 1 and then start a fresh installation.
    4. Can we directly integrate CRM and SharePoint 2010 with duet E.
There will not be a "full-out-of-the-box-scenario" for CRM integration in SharePoint. However, the focus is much more on providing building blocks that makes the integration of CRM simpler and faster.
    Regards,
    Holger.

  • What is the mean of using Portal with Role Based security as entry point

Hi Experts we have requirement of integration of Portal and MDM
I am completely new to the MDM. So please give me some idea , what is the meanin for following points.
    1) Using the Portal with Role Based security as entry point for capacity and Routing Maintaince(These two are some modules).
    2) Additionally , Portal should have capability to enter in to the MDM for future master data maintence. Feeds of data will need to be come from  SAP 4.6c
Please give me the clarity of what is the meanin of second point
    Regards
    Vijay

    Hi
It requires the entire land scape like EP server and MDM server both should be configured in SLD.
Your requirement is maintaing and updating the MDM data with Enterprise portal. We have some Business Packages to install in Portal inorder to access the functionality of MDM.
Portal gives you a secure role based functionality of MDM through Single sign on (login into the portal access any application) to their end users.
    Please go through this link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdmgds55/helpdata/EN/45/c8cd92dc7f4ebbe10000000a11466f/frameset.htm
You need to develope some custom applications which should be integrated into the portal to access MDM Server master data
The estimation involves as per your requirement clearly
Its depends upon the Landscape settings, Requirement complexity,Identify how many number of custom applications need to be developed

  • Duet Enterprise for cloud.

    Hi All,
I want to know your views on the possibility of using Duet Enterprise for cloud based scenarios and specific comments on the following scenarios:
    1. All systems viz. SharePoint, SCL and SAP backend are on cloud.
    2. SharPoint and SCL are on cloud and the SAP backend in premise.
    3. SharePoint is in cloud and SCL and SAP backend are on premise.
Cloud over hear means a public cloud. Please let me know what could be the complexities or road block sin each of these scenarios in your opinion.
Hoping for some constructive discussion on this topic, since these scenarios are catching a lot of eyes these says.
    Regards,
    Avishek.

    Hi Avishek,
    Update:
The november update of SharePoint Online (SPO) includes the earlier announced BCS support; see [Whatu2019s New in SharePoint Online: November 2011 Update|http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blog/Pages/BlogPost.aspx?pID=1002&prod=SP&type=BL].
Via this it is now possible to connect to external data in SharePoint Online context; through WCF endpoints to the external repositories.
However, utilization of Duet Enterprise is not (yet) possible; due:
    1) Duet Enterprise is an Add-On to both SharePoint and SAP installations; and this Add-On is not included within SharePoint Online.
    2) Moreover; via Duet Enterprise you have a bi-directional connectivity between your SharePoint and your SAP landscape; it is required that both parties know how to 'reach' to another. This is something that I do not see forthcoming in any shared (multi-tenancy) cloud / SaaS proposition. It effectively requires to have a organization-dedicated Duet Enterprise configuration; which should be possible in the cloud, but then boils down to a multi-instance installation in which you outsource the hosting of YOUR SharePoint environment to a 'hosting organization'.
Note that SAP and Microsoft have included in the [Duet Enterprise Planned Roadmap|http://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=cloud%20model%20duet%20enterprise&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CEkQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.microsoft-sapphire.com%2Fresources%2FDuet%2520Enterprise%2520FP1.pptx&ei=45_pTun3F8GdOrr_mKAI&usg=AFQjCNH2ZjQQIxOSkBIlexBVQ2F1Fn1yVw] the following:
"Plan to support additional Mobile and Cloud scenarios" for a Next Version (following FP1)
As any roadmap, the value of this statement for now is limited; no guarantees given that it will actually be achieved.
    Best regards, William.
