DUET Enterprise extending the Starter Services

Hi,
Is it possible to add additional fields/methods to the starter services such as adding Sales Area data to Customer Service as I notice that they are not in ESR.
How is the best way to extend them?

Hi Daniel,
if you take a look at chapter "8. Other Development Examples u2013 Starter Services" of the [Developers Guide|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/302608bd-840e-2e10-c2ba-8480e0cf5da7?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] you can see that (some of) the Starter Services have Extension containers that you might be able to "fill" with content you are looking for.

Extending the amUser service

Hi all
I tryin to add an user attribute to the amUser service but doesn't seem to work correctly.
I modified the amUser.properties (and amUser_es.properties) by adding:
u1201=Department Number
then modified amUser.xml by adding the tags for the attribute schema:

I removed the old service definition and installed the new one.
The problem comes when i try to see the new attribute using Identity Server.
When I add a new user, the "Department Number" attribute appears in the form, i fill it, submit the form and everything's ok. But then when i see the user info the attribute I added is not shown.
I already checked and the attribute exists in the LDAP for that user, but somehow this attribute is not shown when i search the user on Identity Server (only when i add a new user)
Does anyone know if i'm missing something or why this happens ???

I set the u1201 value following an example of the Sun ONE Portal Customization course (the only difference is that they added it for the mobileTelephoneNumber instead of the departmentNumber)

Duet Enterprise 2.0 - Accessing SAP DMS Documents

Hi,
Is there any possibility to access the SAP DMS documents using Duet Enterprise 2.0 from SharePoint 2013?
If the answer is No, then what is the starter services in DE 1.0 and why the DMS functionality is included in that and not in DE 2.0, which will be the easy way to access SAP documents from the SharePoint. Is there any alternative?
Please clear my queries, i'm eager to know the reason behind it.

Hi Kamal,
The DE 1.0 Starter Services models are available on the DE 2.0 Software package. To implement Starter Services for DE 2.0 you should follow all of the steps in the DE 1.0 FP1 documentation with the exception of importing on SharePoint. I have attached a document with the commands required to import the Starter Services to SharePoint.

Future of SAP NetWeaver Portal besides Duet Enterprise!!!

What about the future of SAP NetWeaver Portal when you have Duet Enterprise? I think it would be a strategic collapse of SAP NetWeaver Portal while Sharepoint portal is running in Parallel. I can't see both portal running in parallel. From end users perspective, Sharepoint portal acceptability would be more high as far as UI and Microsoft services are concerned.
Discussion is required.

Duet 1.5 is still supported by both SAP and Microsoft. However, no more features will be developed on top of Duet 1.5. Keeping this in mind -- and also the fact that Duet 1.5 offered quite "static" scenarios (you cannot really enhance / modify anything) I would very much recommend to consider Duet Enterprise.
Right now Duet Enterprise does offer some scenarios out of the box but we already see a lot of partners jumping on Duet Enterprise and developing their own scenarios on top. In addition to that SAP & Microsoft are also currently planning to develop additional content on top of Duet Enterprise.
Using SharePoints BCS functionality you can also integrate Microsoft Outlook with Duet Enterprise. For example in the Starter Services that are available with Duet Enterprise we showcase how you can synchronize ERP contacts without any coding into Outlook. Obviously more fancy UIs will also require coding. But the fact is -- you can do it. If something is not as you like it, you can modify / adjust it.
So having said that I would clearly recommend to use Duet Enterprise instead of Duet 1.5 -- even if you have already SAP NetWeaver Portal running.

Duet Enterprise Architecture

Hi Experts,
This might be a possibly silly question however I have done some studies and research but I'm getting quite confused on the architecture of Duet Enterprise, so my main question would be do we need a server for Duet? Or is it Duet is installed in SAP Netweaver Gateway and that is known as Duet Server?

Hi Jordi,
No, you do not need an extra server for Duet Enterprise. You install Duet Enterprise into the same system as the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system.
Simply put: Duet Enterprise server = Gateway server.

One of your services is not running. Are you able to login to the Enterprise Manager Console:
http://serverrname:7001/em (or whatever port WL is deployed on)
If so, you will see what is not running.
If you are not able to pull this URL up, then WebLoigc is not running. 11g on Windows only installs 2 out of box services, "Process Manager" and "Node Manager". You still need to start WebLoigc or create it as a windows services. From there you can access the EM and manage all the other services.

Can we use the ESR of XI 7.0 with the Microsoft SAP Duet Enterprise

I am working on the Microsoft and SAP product DUET enterprise and we are going to use ESR of XI netweaver for defining the web service structures.
In demo we have used it with PI 7.1 where we have the concept of Service Interface with multiple operations.
But we have PI 7.0 in the landscape which has Message Interface instead of service interface and doesnt have multiple operations.
My doubt is whether we can use the IR of PI 7.0 while working with DUET enterprise.
If Yes, please explain in detail.
If no, what are the varios options available?

As you said, Service Interface with multiple operations are supported from PI 7.1 onwards. Mostly SAP does not deliver enterprise services with multiple operaiotns as it would be impossible to import for customers those who are in lower versions like XI 3.0, 7.0 etc.
For DUET enterprise, you can create a back end operation proxy in service consumption layer either from a RFC or from a WSDL URL. Nevertheless I think it would not be possible to import the PI content with multiple operations for a serrive interface to PI 7.0 and below.

Extended router's network for Airport extreme. Works well with MacbookPro. I can print with notebook with XP SP3 and, I can see the USB-harddisc in the Airport service program but, I cannot use it. I have set filesharing etc. What do I do wrong?

I connected the Airport Extreme wireless to the existing network of my router. At the Airport there is connected via USB a Printer and three hard discs. All works well on my MacBook Pro - I can print and use the hard discs. On my notebook and my desktop, both with XP-SP3 I can use the printer only. In the Airport service program - manual set up - hard discs I can see the drives with the correct names but I cannot work with it. I don't find neithe the Airport Extreme nor the drives in the Windows Explorer. Of course I've set 'filesharing' etc. What do I do wrong? Where is the mistake in the set up?

Resetting the password you will need to do for each device... the utility cannot even see those old units.
So you will have to do it for each one.. think it through.. because as you change passwords the others will lose connection.. so start from the express which are wireless extending .. change those first.. and go back up the chain.. as each one changes it will drop off the network.. until you reach extreme and change that. Then you might need to reboot the whole network to get everything talking again. If something goes wrong.. just pluck that one out of the mix and plug in ethernet.. reset and redo the setup. That is my preferred method anyway.. do everything in isolation one by one. By ethernet and then nothing goes wrong.

You cannot partition a network disk. And apple provided no tools for it in the TC itself. You can pull the disk out and partition it but that voids your warranty. (although done with care who is to know).

Check the following:
- You must to add your hostname in your etc/hosts file of this way
127.0.0.0 hostname.domain hostname
- Check the availability of the port 1158. For this check
telnet hostname 1158
- Check the log files of dbconsole. Normaly exists a log directory in this location
ORACLE_HOME\sysman
- Check that the listener and database is up

Error While Calling DUET Enterprise Services

Hi Folks,
We have finished with the DUET Enterprise FP1 Configuration (Backend as BW System).
Both SCL and Backend components reside on Same SAP System.
We have developed 2 custom services for Testing our configurations(For Ex. Displaying a single field as output).
We are getting following ST22 Dump(for both the services) when we try to test the services via SPROXY(Internal SAP Test) :

Type conflict with ASSIGN in program "/IWFND/CX_BASE================CP".
What happened?
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "/IWFND/CX_BASE================CP" had to be
      terminated because it has
     come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.

Can you please check what is written to the log on EM directory which is probably under Oracle_HOME\servername_sid\sysman\log
directory
You will see the actual error instead of fancy microsoft errors

Thanks for your detailed response. I will try all that you suggested and let you know my observation at the end. To give a back ground of the application I am working on.
Background
Try to replace home grown cache (very well optimized uses custom serialization using NIO bytebuffer etc.,) my mandate is to replace the legacy cache with coherence (I love coherence product (at least 3.4) from my previous job experience). Since all kind of optimization is done in legacy application I am converting NIO byteBuffer generated by legacy serialization to byteArray and converting ByteArray into POF. Also for various other reasons, I have to send entry processor to do even get and put data from the cluster.
Raw Data Set Size
My data size is just 500MB (In Production). I put enough cache nodes so that raw data is just 50MB per node. (Since it is compute heavy with entry processor and the number of clients are going to be ~2500)
What was happening when I got the exception?
I was doing stress testing of the cache. Not sure if that put lot of garbage in some of the node hence may be the garbage collection pause triggered the re-distribution of partition set. Since the stress testing was on the way it might had cascading effect on all the nodes.
Datagram Test result.
Tx summary 4 peers:
life: 96 MB/sec, 68774 packets/sec
now: 100 MB/sec, 71378 packets/sec, packets/burst: 1029, bursts/second: 69.41594
Success rate ranges from 0.87 to 1.0
Is a success rate less than 0.98 a cause for concern?
Regarding Size (to keep the extend client always connected to the proxy)
I do size request every 5 sec. if there is not other request has gone to the cluster in the past 5 sec.
In one of the oracle presentation it was said that "If you have map listener's and no other request from a long period of time extend client has to do a periodic size request to make sure that connection to proxy is alive"
In this regard my question is "Can the same effect achieved by doing member listener on the extend client and on disconnection do the size request?"
Proxy Size guide lines
In production number of extend clients are going to be ~2500 connected all the time.
Of which 2000 clients with few map listener + entry processor gets (Each of the clients will have distinct and disjoint set of data on which they work and listener)
And the remaining ~500 clients will do all kinds of request on the entire data set.
In this circumstance is there any recommendation for Number of extend-client : Number of extend-server : Number of threads ratio?

- Both of them have as source the Service Control Manager.
The database system is a Windows cluster where the portal SCS are running with Oracle 9.2.0.5. The OS is a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.
The path to the executable saposcol.exe is:
C:\WINNT\SapCluster\saposcol service
We have tried to uninstall and install the service as in note 82751 (through the windows services window), and the service saposcol is started, but these two errors steel appear.
We have the same structure at Test system and saposcol works properly. We thought if it could be possible that the overloading of the production system was causing a delay in the start of the saposcol service, and then the timeout is reached. Is it possible to increase this timeout, and in this case, will this solve the problem? (if so, how do we do increase it, and in which manner will affect our system?)

and change the logon from nt service manager to SAPService<SID> user

SFC problem - "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service"

We are trying to attempt to fix a Windows 2008 start up problem. We boot the machine from a Windows 2008 CD and go to the repair tool - command prompt.
When we do the command sfc /scannow, we are getting
"Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service"
We did some researches there someone suggested the trustedinstaller is not running so we tried to do a net start trustedinstaller.
But We are getting
"The windows modulers instaler service is starting
The windows modulers instaler service is starting could not be started
A system error has occured
System error 1067 has occured
The process terminated unexpectedly. "
Anyone can give us an idea to see why we can not run the sfc the first place. Thanks

SYMPTOMS:
All attempts to run command:
sfc /SCANNOW
keep returning the following message:
"Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service"
SOLUTION:
If you are using any kind of boot image/disk to boot up, you will have to use the "offline" switches (OFFBOOTDIR & OFFWINDIR) along with the SFC /SCANNOW command in order to start repairing your instalation properly.
please remember to tripple-check for corret partition letters, because this is a crucial parameter for SFC to start working properly.
also make sure to confirm whether so called "recovery" partion exists in your specific scenario or not. If so, in most cases this will render the "recovery" partition being the one to be set as a boot partition (OFFBOOTDIR) within sfc command, while Windows
system folder (OFFWINDIR) will actually reside on a different partition.
My scenario is described exactly above and therefore in my case boot partition letter was C: and system partition was D: ...As of that - the proper command line to run SFC successfuly was:
sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\Windows
Successful scan for integrity of all protected system files and replacement of incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions then looks like this:
X:\sources>sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\WindowsBeginning system scan. This process will take some time.Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.logwindir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
Once SFC scan completed, I have run the Startup Repair from the repair dialogue menu prior rebooting the system. Remember to click "Cancel" on the prompt for using the System restore in this step. I am assuming you have tried this already time ago and confrmed
it did not resolve the problem, but most importantly - you really would not want to overwrite the files, which you have just repaired with any possibly corrupted ones ;)
After this I've unplugged bootable USB key with the My Windows Vista Enterprise 64bit setup disk image and restarted computer. System booted up properly on first attempt. No issues have been identified as a result of my post boot checks. This completely
resolved the issue in my case. Should you have questions, please let me know.
