Duet Firewire Not Recognized By Mac Mini 10.10.2. Yosemite

Hi Everyone.
I'm attempting to put back together my home recording studio. I recently purchased a new Mac Mini 10.10.2. The mini just WILL NOT recognize my older, tried and true Duet Firewire interface. I'm using a Firewire to Thunderbolt adaptor, and nothing. I installed the proper Apogee Duet Firewire drivers. Maestro 2 shows up just fine but gives me, "No Apogee Systems Found". The Duet also does not show up anywhere else that it should either. The unit doesn't light up. Nothing. I found a thread that began with one other person complaining of the same problem while using the same OS and hardware but unfortunately their was no solution posted. Is ANYBODY familiar with this problem? More importantly, does anybody know of a solution? PLEASE?????!!!!!
I've darned near blown my wad financially, I'm frightened and I'm so frustrated. HELP!
Thanks a lot to anybody, everybody.

Have you went to Duet's support site?

  • Replacement hard drive not recognized in mac mini

    Hi folks,
I have an issue similar to several threads that were active during 2007 and 2008, but the information and answers given then do not solve my problem.
The original 80 GB Hitachi drive in a 1.5 Mhz PPC failed. I replaced it with a Western Digital PATA 320 GB ide drive and reassembled the Mac Mini.
The original Apple OS X was put in the optical drive and the computer was started with the "c" button pressed when powered on, but repeatedly the disk was ejected after a short time.  Since the mac mini does not boot from the proper install cd, I cannot use disk utilities to partition and format the WD drive per the other thread messages.
The WD drive is not formatted for Apple yet. I connected the headless mac mini to an older ibook with a firewire cord and I attempted to boot the mac mini in target disk mode.  The ibook never mounted the mac mini as an external drive, an icon did not appear on the desktop, and running disk utilities on the ibook did not recognize the mac mini connected by firewire as a mounted drive.  I mounted an Acom hard drive connected by fire wire as a test of the ports and wires and that device was recognized in disk utilities and an icon for it  was seen on the desktop.
Back to the issue at hand.  What else can I do to partition and format a new hard drive installed in an older mac mini where 1) the install disk is kicked out of the optical drive and 2) the unformatted drive cannot be accessed via target disk mode from an ibook?
Is 320 GB incompatible with a PPC mac Mini?
Thanks in advance for offers of help and correct answers.
    Mich

    Hi Mich,
the older PPC computers are usualy limited to 128Gb max. HD size.
    You need something like this:
    "MacOS X 10.4.x and Earlier Hi-Cap Installer.app"
    Its available for $25 here:

The USB cable is connected directly to a USB port on the Mac mini. I have tried all ports including external ones on a USB hub - no luck. I have also tried with another cable. Restarting the iPod or the Mac mini did not help. Every other time the iPod is recognized after I disconnect and reconnect the iPod several times. It works flawlessly on my Macbook. Needless to say that I have installed all patches and the latest version of iTunes.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
    Markus

    Hi Markus,
Does the iPod show up in iTunes correctly if you disconnect the other USB devices?

  • Return key not recognized on Mac mini during disk repair

Our Mac mii needs to run a disk repair so we restart and hold cmd & r, then it gives options but using keyboard it doesn't recognize double tap or return key so we can't select disk repair - so in limbo - can anyone save us? Please???

Boot off your *original* Install Disk , then run the extended Apple Hardware Test. Some disks require you to use the Option key at bootup to select AHT. Some models have a separate AHT CD.
The Memory test can really only be trusted if it finds a problem, not if it doesn't find a problem.

  • External usb microphone not working with FaceTime and mac mini with os x Yosemite

    Hello
When I try to do a phone call with face time through my iphone 6 face time is not recognizing my external usb microphone connected to my mac mini. I have just updated my mac mini to os x Yosemite. If I go to the audio system preferences and look to the audio input signal I can see that the external microphone (SB Omni Surround 5.1) is working (audio input level is showing an input signal).
Can someone help. I saw that this was also an issue in the beta versions of Yosemite.
    Thanks.
    BR Stefan

Interesting.  I don't have a USB mic on the Mac Pro.  Its the OLD FireWire 300 iSight.  It works for FaceTime calls but not the iPhone call via the FaceTime app.
I also have 2010 MBP that works perfectly, even since the first Public Beta.  I'm to sure if that mic is considered an external USB device or not, or if it has to do with device signatures vs. external or internal.  I would almost assume that the built-in mic is on the USB bus.  How would it be any different than the external USB.
I think I have to agree that this is a point release bug.  I have submitted a bug report at bugreport.apple.com, and would ask others to do the same, or at least post to apple.com/feedback.  The more noise we make through process the more likely to get a fix in the .1 release.

  • Fast backup on FireWire not recognized when network connected

I have a MacBook Pro that I've Time Machine backed up on a FireWire drive. I've now connected that FireWire drive to my Mac-Mini that I use as a home server so I can do network backups.
I've shared the drive on my home network, Time Machine on the MacBook Pro recognizes the drive but the backup I made when connected directly is no longer recognized.
How do I get TM to make use of the existing backup? The alternative will be delete everything and start a new TM backup over the network which could take days.

Neither one recognizes it....The playbook is the only thing that acknowledges that it is plugged in.  I have re-installed the blackberry software on the mac and still nothing!?  I thought it was weird that the iMac didn't even recognize it being plugged in.  I am going downlaod the DM for my mac laptop and see if I can get it to recognize it.

  • WD MyBook Premium 320GB Firewire not recognized on my MBP?

    Hey guys,
First off, thank you for the help anyone is willing to offer.
Ok, so i have a MBP Intel Core Duo (1gb RAM) and use it to record music on. But basically, i have a WD MyBook Premium 320GB drive that works perfectly fine via USB. It powers up, mounts, and i can back anything i want on it. I formatted the drive to Mac Extended Journal format.
I would like to use the firewire port though, just to keep my USB ports open. When i plug it via Firewire i get nada. I plug it in and power up the MBP and the drive doesnt power up, so i turn it on and it doesnt mount. Now, THis is the second one i have, i had the same one a few weeks ago and returned it for this one thinking the drive was defective but its obviously not. is there anyway to "turn on" or Fix this issue with the firewire not recognizing the drive?
    thanks alot for the help
Macbook Pro 15" Intel Core Cuo   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Ace King, in case you're still dealing with this I figured it out:
I called tech support for an hour. First lady I talked to told me the firewire cable that was supplied with the drive is defective (she knew the problem right away). Tried my own cable but it still didn't work. She put me on to "Level 2"....ooooooh....now I'm getting somewhere? No, wait for 15 more minutes listening to terrible muzak...
Anyways while I was waiting I thought I'd try my good cable in the other port on the drive and oila! So when the dude gets on the phone I ask him what the deal is...get this:
"The faulty cable most likely fried the port." Wow...not only is the cable crap it actually destroys their product...someone must have lost their job for that one. Seems like sabotage almost...anyways, there you go. Return it and DO NOT use the cable supplied.
    Cheers!

  • Open firmware commands do not work on Mac mini

Open firmware commands do not work on Mac mini. At least on Mac mini 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo (2 GB RAM and 80 GB HD) with Mac OS X 10.4.8.
    Holding:
    Option Command OF
    when restarting does nothing!
    Option: alt key.
    Command: Apple key ().
Is this a flaw or am I missing something?
    Thanks.

Since there is no Open Firmware, there's no reason to reset the Open Firmware defaults. I would assume that since there's no current interface to reset the EFI defaults, this operation is not necessary. I can't say that for certain. But, just like "zapping the PRAM", which used to help when troubleshooting issues with Mac OS 9, doing it in Mac OS X doesn't change or affect as many settings so it's really not necessary.
