Duet vs iMac i7. Not recognized!

Hey!!
I'm new in the community and I'm starting with a prob..
My new iMac cannot recognize my old Apogee Duet..
I've reinstalled the whole OSX as I've read around thre web that it can help solving the problem, but nothing has changed.
Reinstalled the Maestro software 4 5 times to its latest issue.. dunno what to do. Any help?
Got back to mix on my poor Macbook..

I guess I will have to get Duet 2 to make it work, but it's not fair at all after spending 2700 pounds for an iMac and trying to connect a "Mac Only" interface..

Alessio,
That would be an unwise thing to do. You need to contact Apogee and Apple and see if there have been other reports of this, you don't want to spend money needlessly do you? What if it's something wrong with the iMac. Be patient, contact the companies.

I have an external firewire burner; it never shows on the desktop unless I insert a CD or DVD - that icon will then show (if I have my preferences set to show those on the desktop). Hae you checked in Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities) to see if it is listed under drives?

i downloaded carbon copy. transferred entire internal hd  to new replacement HD  thru USB adapter kit.  computer booted from replacement hrdrive. then i erased the internal hardrive and reloaded the operating system.( i needed to find out if the hard drive was bad or virus/worm was the cause). then installed replacement hard drive into iMac. when rebooting, imac did not recognized new replacement hd. i also upgraded memory at the same time.  ok what did i do wrong. do i have to remove the new replacement hardrive to extract the data.

It should not matter. CCC will "clone" the recovery partition as well, but not knowing exactly what operation you had CCC perform it is difficult to know what may have gone wrong - it has many customizable options and you have to choose the correct one.
I have performed the same transplant as you described and didn't have a problem, but if your Mac is not recognizing the internal HD you really have no choice other than to reinitialize it as suggested. After that, install OS X, upgrade to Mountain Lion if required, and migrate your old account(s) from your backup.
    my backups have backups.
I assume you didn't mean that literally. Have redundant backups - don't "back up your backups".

  • IMac is not recognizing USB connections. Memory Stick, Elephant Storage do not appear as connected devices anymore. Is there an easy solution?

Then try smc and pram reset.
Did you try the logout/in?  Of course this is redundant if you do the smc and pram reset.

my imac is not recognizing my iphone 4s, what's to be done

    try another usb port
    try another cable
    update itunes to latests
check if iphoto can see it
test with another computer to see if it does detect it you can use a windows pc too
if non of those tests give any success then one should suspect the connector in your iphone is damaged

  • Help - Imac is not recognizing Ipod, Ipod already in use?

Hoping someone can help. I am posting this in this forum and in the Ipod forum, since I am not sure where it should go.
My son has a new G5 Imac that has been working great. He has the 60 gig Ipod Photo that has been re-configured from his original PC to now use with the IMAC and it has been working great, until now.
He had a problem with his IPOD and received a bad nasty error message and had to have it replaced under warranty. Tonight he plugged the new IPOD in and the IMAC did not immediately recognize it at all. So went to install the software and his IMAC told him that the IPOD needed to be updated, and when he went to update it he got a message stating that it is in use by another program and cannot be loaded or modified. There is no other program that is using the IPOD at the moment that he knows of.
I am hoping that this is a situation that can be easily rectified. I am a MAC novice and have no idea where to begin. Thank you!!!

Is it mounted in Itunes Maybe?

  • HT1766 iTunes on imac is not recognizing iPhone 4 as a device for backup

Want to back up iphone 4 to imac using itunes but when I navigate to file/devides/backup, the 'backup" selection is inactive - seems to not be recognizing the device that I have connected via USB

Turns out to be a faulty USB cable...problem solved

  • IMac/iTunes not recognizing iPhone 5s

I have a 2010 iMac running OS X Yosemite (10.10.3) and iTunes 12.1.2.27.  I also have the following IOS devices all running 8.3 of IOS:
    iPhone 5s
    iPhone 5
    iPad Air 2
    iPad Air
iTunes recognizes the iPhone 5 and both iPads every time right away.  It fails to recognize the iPhone 5s 95% of the  time.  I can't point to any logical reason why but occasionally, the iMac/iTunes will recognize the iPhone 5s.  I've been into the genius bar twice.  The phone was recognized both times.  It is also recognized if I plug it into my Windows PC.  It's not the cable or USB port because if I plug in one of my other devices, they are immediately recognized. It's not the hardware of the iPhone 5s because it is recognized by the genius bar laptops and my Windows PC.
I have a support ticket open with Apple and Level 2 is working on it but I thought I'd throw it out here to see if anyone has any suggestions.  It acts like it is a software conflict somewhere in my iMac.  If you have any suggestions other than the standard Apple support doc of try these things when you can't connect, please post them there.   Thanks.

  • My new iMac is not recognizing DVD R discs for burning. Help please?

Fuji and Verbatim DVD+R not being recognized in DVD burner in iMac.  Burned audio CD's just fine.

If you want to save yourself a lot of headaches go out and buy a Tray Load external DVD burner that connects to the computer by USB.
The Apple, Not So, Superdrive is very picky about discs you can use. Or simply your new Mac came with a bad Superdrive.

  • New iMac itunes not recognizing library on external drive

I'm trying to move my itunes media from my older powermac to my new imac. I kept my library on an external drive, so I thought it would be simple to just move that drive over to the new imac and create a path in the media folder location in itunes preferences to the library. I've done so, but the library is not registering in the new itunes. Obviously I'm doing something wrong here, and I haven't found anything that describes my exact scenario. All I'm doing is keeping the external drive on which the library and contents are stored and moving it from the old computer to the new.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Peter

Thanks Jim. I have tried what you have suggested, but it hasn't worked. iTunes isn't populating (for lack of a better word at the moment) with my music. I'm able to select the library and seemingly iTunes accepts the library, but I'm not able to access the media. I tried reconnecting the drive back to the old computer to make sure iTunes worked on it, and it worked fine. I'm stumped.

  • Imac Superdrive not recognizing inserted media, runs disc for a minute then spits it out.

2009 intel 24 inch Intel Imac either does not recognize cd or dvd I put in it and spits it out after spinning it around for a minute, or it swallows disc and I have to force shut down to get disc out. Other times it is able to read disc. Any ideas?

If the drive lenses have never been cleaned since you purchased your iMac, you may need to run the cleaning cycle more than once. Did you run the cleaning disc more than once?
If the problem is lessening, that means it still could be some dust on the lenses.
Also, look at the backs of the CD/DVDs to see if there are lots of scratches on the writing surface.
If there are, it may not be just the drive, but the discs, too!
I don't know about auto polishes for cleaning CD/DVDs, but they make consumer cleaners and polishes specifically to minimize, clear up most minor scratching on DVDs or CDs.
These are available in places that sell electronics and can be found online.
Maybe you need to try these ideas, first, before investing in a new drive.
Because if the CD/DVDs have surface scratches or imperfections that prevent it from being read or written too, this will still happen with the new external drive.
Trybthese ideas one more time, if still no joy, time to purchase an external FireWire CD/DVD writer.
    Good Luck!

  • My iMac is not recognizing my logon id, how do I reset it?

I went to logon to my iMac and it did not recognize my logon. I use a guest logon without admin rights to access the web.  How do I reset the admin logon?

  • IMacs randomly not recognizing keyboards.

    iMac 21.5", Early 2013 Models
I've got a problem with several iMacs that are refusing to recognize their USB keyboards. Come in the next morning and you'll get an error message on the login screen that there is no keyboard detected. No devices are associated with Bluetooth, and Bluetooth is infact turned off. The keyboards are unresponsive, and the LEDs on the mice do not light up. Now the mice are plugged into the keyboards when this happens, but if I plug the mouse into a USB slot on the back of the iMac it works just fine, including the same one that the keyboard was plugged into.
If I swap keyboards with another iMac that isn't having the problem the keyboards will suddenly work on both machines. It's only if I reset the SMC and clear the NVRAM can I *sometimes* get the keyboards to respond. I've replaced the keyboards with brand new replacements, and the issue randomly persists on the same machines. MRI isn't detecting any issues, nor has ASD EFI & OS. The occurance of this issue is totally random.
    Any Ideas?

    Bump.
    Still having this issue.

  • IMac display not recognized

The hard drive started to fail on my daughters mid 2008 Intel 20" iMac A1224. I disassembled and replaced the hard drive. During re-installation of the LCD Display, I inadvertantly pushed a bezel screw through the LCD temperture sensor cable. I didn't realize the cable was damaged until it took apart a second time because of a dark display on restart. I repaired the damaged cable, however there is still no LCD display. All connections on signaI cable and inverter connections appear visually fine. I can display just fine to an external monitor. The first 3 diagnostic lights are all green yet the LCD screen is completely dark. I suspected a damaged inverter but a flashlight test on LCD shows no sign of display working. Since the external display is working, I know the logic board is fine.  Could shorting out the LCD temp cable with a screw puncture cause a problem elsewhere? I though this sensor just controlled fan speed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you BDAqua. A very close examination of the LVDS cable showed a very small fray. I opened and did a temp repair to verify functionality. The LCD came on as bright as ever. A new LVDS cable is on order. Thank you for helping find the obvious.

  • Imac keyboard not recognized

usb keyboard keeps not functioning.  bought a brand new one, but still having same problem

If you changed the batteries or the keyboard is different, you will need to pair it. And, in order to pair it, unless your Mac is on, you would need a USB keyboard to get to the Bluetooth Setup Assistant. If the Mac is on, just go there and see if you can pair it.

  • Imac G4 not recognizing Mouse

Since installing Leopard on my 800 MHz Imac G4, the mouse won't work when the CPU wakes from sleep. I've tried 3 different mice. They all work most of the time except when the computer wakes from sleep. I have to hold the power button to turn the computer off and then back on again. sometimes they work after a long wait. I have repaired permissions and run Disk Warrior 4.1. I've heard about some problems with USB devices after installing Leopard. What's the fix?

Stop sleeping your computer. Just sleep the display.
