Dull prints with Pro-100

Earlier this week, I purchased a Pixma Pro-100 to replace my i9900 printer.  My primary motivation was to be able to print faster, as I have been very satisfied with the quality of the prints the i9900 produced.
Yesterday, after I installed the Pro-100, I had both printers make prints of the same .jpg file -- a photo of a Bugatti Veyron taken in a showroom. The "source" was a 4MB file residing on my Sony VAIO notebook with an NVIDIA graphics chip; the paper was Canon Photo Plus Glossy.  As always, the i9900 produced a wonderful, vibrant picture using the factory settings.  Unfortunately, the version printed on the Pro-100 was dull and lifeless, with muted colors.  I then boosted each by 10% the color intensity and brightness settings on the Pro-100; again, while very slight improvement could be noted, the visual quality of the print was far below that of the i9900's.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I might do to bring the Pro-100 up to the same standard as my i9900?

  • Dull colors with Pro-100 vs Pro9000

I just purchased a Pro-100 to replace my aging Pro9000 (which sometimes decides it doesn't want to print anymore).
I mainly print 4x6 photos on Canon Matte Photo Paper and did a comparison between the Pro-100 and the Pro9000.
Both at stock settings, the Pro-100 colors look much more dull. The Pro9000 colors pop and look much more like what is shown on my screen. Both printers were using the exact same settings for paper, color space, etc.
Here's an example of two prints I did tonight:
Pro9000 on the left, Pro-100 on the right. Not the best lighting, but you can see the difference. It's more pronounced in person.
    Any suggestions?

If you aren't doing any special editing in PS then you can print from LR. I don't use PS so i don't have first hand experience, but from what I have read on various forums printing from LR is easier than PS.
Also, you can install the Canon Print Shop Pro plugin for LR and PS and print from that. It will allow you to adjust the printer to tune your prints.
You can get the manuals here: https://www.cubbyusercontent.com/pl/Canon+Pro-100+Manuals/_9e886cddfbc04caa9248d99e17228c5b

  • DVD printing with Pro 100

Pro 100.  Is there a way to use the hundreds of DVD labels I have already created in Epson Print CD, either with or without using My Image Garden, or do I have to start from scratch?  I have Photoshop CC 2015.

Hello. If your software saves your files to a format that was designed only for that program, you will not be able to use the files with our own software. Please check to see if there is a way to save the images to JPEG format for use in our software.

  • Printing Problem with Pro-100 and Photoshop

This is my setup: using Mac Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) & editing & printing from Photoshop CS 6. I have new Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer and set it up OK. First thing printed was a page from a document from MS Word on 8.5X11 plain paper - this came out OK. Next I fire up Photoshop and open a 4X6 inch image (just a snapshot in jpeg, landscape format) to do a test print.  I set it up in the print dialog as 4X6 paper, Canon's Pro Glossy paper profile, rear tray, standard print quality, Photoshop manages the color.  I load the paper in the rear tray close the covers and hit print.
Now, when it starts to print the printer moves about 3.8 inches of paper out of the printer and it starts printing on the remaining 2.2 inches then spits the paper out.  It does this in Photoshop (any image, it doesn't matter), and it does it printing from Nikon’s Capture NX.  I have been able to get it to print on the paper correctly using Apple's Preview program but that that's not going to do me any good. I was on the phone with Canon tech support for about 2 hours and they were completely puzzled suggesting I would have to use Canon's printing apps instead to print - that doesn't do me any good either. I want to be able to print from Photoshop. I have the most recent Canon driver, and Photoshop is up to date. Any one every heard of this or experienced the same problem?  I don’t think I’ve overlooked anything. Thanks JMDavis!

    Hi JMDavis,
Have you tried printing using the Print Studio Pro plugin for Photoshop?  If this is not install, it is available for download from Canon's web site.  To download and install Print Studio Pro, please follow these steps:
     1.  Visit Canon's website at:    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer
     2.  Type PIXMA PRO-100 in the "Enter Your Model Name" box and click GO.
     3.  On the Support page for your unit, click the 'Drivers & Software' link in the middle of the page.
     4.  Click Software.
     5.  Click on Print Studio Pro.
     6.  If you agree, please select the checkbox next to "I have read and agree to the terms of the Disclaimer and wish to continue with the download".
     7.  Click on the Download button.
     8.  The file will be downloaded to your Downloads folder.
     9.  Once the download is complete, close all windows.
    10.  Double click [mpsp-mac-1_3_5-ea9_2.dmg] in your Downloads folder.  Files will extract.
Follow the prompts and installation will complete.
Once installed, please open your image in Photoshop and print it using the Print Studio Pro plugin.

  • How to print with "Scale: 100%" by default from Preview

The print dialogue in Preview is set by default to "Scale to Fit".
I never need this, I always need "Scale: 100%".
It's annoying to change all the time I have to print a PDF from Preview the setting!
I tried to save the print setting, but it does not work.
So. Is there a way to set the print dialogue by default to "Scale: 100%" ?
    Mayby with a Terminal command?

AFAICT, only for PDF files. If you want to report this issue to Apple's engineering, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.

  • Unable to center a print on 8/5 x 11 inch paper with Pixma Pro 100

I've been using a Pixma Pro 100 for just 3 weeks.  No matter what I do or try, prints on 8.5 by 11 inch paper using the manual feed tray are not centered.  In portrait orientation, the margin on the leading edge short edge is slightly less no matter what size the image.  For example, if the leading edge margin is 1/4 inch, the opposite margin is 3/8 inch.  If the leading edge is 7/8 inch, the opposite margin is 1 inch dead.  The long side margins are equal.  I'm using Photoshop Elements 9.0.  I've tried printing out of the edit space, where "center print" is an option, but I realize now that this just centers the image in the window representing the print, that it does not center the image on the page.  I have not notice this problem with smaller size paper, such as 4 x 6.  Any suggestions?  I have not tried loading the paper in the internal or "rear" tray because I thought the paper path with the manual feed would be straighter.  Besides, I'd like to be able to use the manual feed with even larger paper and get centered prints.
P.S.  I just tried selecting "borderless" print in PSE 9 with a custom image size smaller than the paper, e.g. 7 x 9.8 inches, and crop to fit.  Just looking at the preview, this seems to have resulted in equal margins left and right, top and bottom (the L-R margins are different than the T-B margins of course).  I was unable to make any of the necessary adjustments in Canon Print Studio Pro - I could not figure out how to unlink the height and width of the image.

"...  that is a remarkably unhelpful and condescending response."
Condescending or not, however, it is still most likely PSE that accomplishs this task.  I don't use PSE anymore since I switched to Lightroom.  Hence the suggestion to find a PSE forum.
But it is the software that let's you move or put the photos where you want them to print.
A PSE forum may be able to show you how to do this.  Example below, if I want two 5x7s in oppoiste corners, it is done easily in LR.
If I wanted one photo centered it is a simple click to get the adjustment "squares" and move the photo.  (Bottom picture)
    BTW, I am not worried.

  • New Canon Pixma Pro-100 printing with streaks on backgrounds

Hello.  I just purchased the printer last week.  I'm operating on a MacBook Air.  I typically use LightRoom and Photoshop.
I'm a professional photographer and recently look a class at ICP and learned how to print there.  I was shocked at how beautiful the prints were.  This was using an Epson in a classroom.
I did my research and talked to other photographers and decided the Pro-100 would be perfect for me, and so far, it is.
I've had trouble with magenta casts when using LightRoom.  Switched to PhotoShop and got better results.  But some prints, especially those with a simple, plain background, faint lines appear across the page.
Here's an example.  The lines appear top to bottom every 1/4 inch or so:

  • I purchased a Pixma Pro-100. My prints do not reflect the edited images from CS6/LR5.

I just got a Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer. I'm running CS6 and LR5. My monitors are calibrated, my color space is Adobe RGB (1998). I want the Photoshop /LR to manage my color. I (believe) am using the correct profile for the Canon paper (Pro Luster). However, my prints do not reflect the edited versions I am viewing on my monitors. The colors are darker, dull, a bit on the reddish side, and not as vivid as what I am expecting. Is there anyone out there who can guide me to the proper way to set the up my printer and color space? I this is very confusing to me.

You don't need any additional gadgets to set up your monitor(s) and the printer.  Mostly you will just frustrate yourself and waste a lot of ink and paper.  Stop wasting your time with them, too.
You do need to get three things set carefully.  You need the brightness, the contrast and the grey-scale set right for the printer.
Big point to remember you are dealing with two completely different types of color.  One is light and the other is dyes.  They will never match exactly except for maybe one or two colors at a time.  I generally shoot for flesh tones as that is what people notice mostly.
Always check the details and never let the printer do any color managing.  All Canon printers I have worked with have a reddish bias.  You can not or at least it is very difficult to get rid of it.  Canon engineers seem to prefer a warm tone in their printers.
I curently use three of the Canon Pro printers form the 9000, 9500 II amd the 100.  All are great printers.  But right now what you are seeing and what you are sending to the printer is different.  These need to match or you need to know what to adjust in PS to make them match.  Don't use LR to print, it isn't as good as PS and it will be different.  If you must, stick to either/or but not both.   I prefer PS.
Always shoot RAW and use ACR to convert in either LR or PS but I always print from PS.
Let me know how you get along.

I found there it is possible to print pages over internet. Except hpeprint option, how can i add printer from office to printer list from my home pc.
    Please help me.
    Thanks!

    Hi Tolick,
Thank you becoming a member of the HP Support community. I understand that you have an HP Laserjet 100 at your office and you would like to be able to print to it when you are at home.
Super_Dave is correct with the solution he gave you. I just wonder if you have set up the ePrint feature of your Laserjet yet and customized the ePrint email address?  If you have then using the ePrint software that you installed on your laptop should allow you to print to your office printer from home. The instructions on how to do this are in the HP ePrint Software User Guide on page 16 in the section titled "Use HP ePrint (Windows)".
If you haven't set up the ePrint feature of the printer I have included a two documents for your reference. The first one is how to get the claim code and the second is how to setup the customized ePrint email address. This may the step that is missing to make the ePrint software work for you.

Just bought this new a few day's ago and each page of print has about 20mm wide streak missing print running down the centre. what can I do to correct this problem? I have tried printing a cleaning page a couple of times and calibrating color from the Print Quality Menu also a couple of times but this has made no difference. Hi Watcher35,
I see that the new Laserjet Pro 100 MFP M175NW is missing print down the center of the pages, you have ran cleaning and color calibration but the issue is not resolved.
Would this be an accurate example of the issue: but with the "Bb" would be completely missing?
This HP document: Resolving Print Quality Issues may take you though some of the same steps you have already done, I suggest not skipping any steps.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw unable to communicate with product

    Hi guys,
I've had a HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw for 12months now and it has worked great over my wireless network. I recently upgraded from router from a 5 year old single band router to a late model dualband wireless N router.
Since i did this my HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw was unable to reconnect to my new network.
I have uninstalled the drivers and have tried reinstalling the drivers but each time (after I select Connect the Product/Coonect through wireless network, have tried both Yes retrieve the wirelss settings on my computer and No I will enter the wirelss settings manually) but no matter which I select the printer is installed successfully but then gets stuck at 15% and says cannont communicate with the product.
I have disabled my firewall during the installation and have only used the USB cable when the installation has asked me to do so.
The printer is visible in control panel but each time I do a test print or send something to the printer in the sys tray the print job is shown but nothing ever happens.
The installation will work fine if I install it via the directly connect to the computer using USB option.
If I do a test print fromt he printer itself by going into the network setting, network test it prints a page that says:
    Wireless On Pass
    Wirelss Working Pass
    Network Name SSID Found Fail
    Security Fail
Your HP printer cannot find your wirelss router. The WPA authentification method on your HP has changed fromt he default setting.
Is there anyway I can edit the SSID network name and password without having to do this install process?
This is really frustrating. Just spent 3 hours with HP support which got me know where (they were reading the script the supplied me) and then when I rebooted and went to go back to online chat support the website tells me their support is only available during business hours!
    Any help would be great

OK time to back up totally.   I need to make sure you are following the instructions in the user guide to install this printer.  Please start from scratch by uninstalling all software from your computer and outline every step to make sure it is correct.
You have to use the USB cable to set up the wireless connection.
Go here for the User Guide and all installation info.  Get your drivers and troubleshooting info here too.

The reason we have to start over is that you started the software installation when you changed your router.  You don't have to do this, but now we do.

I have provided a document with Resolving Control Panel Messages.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Update the printer's firmware. HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175a Drivers.
Select your operating system, click next, click the link for firmware.
Where is the printer located? (enclosed cabinet, desk)
