Dumb Question...How do I tell when my battery is fully charged?

I just got it this morning.  I turned it off and plugged it in to charge the battery.  There's a red dot in the upper left-hand corner.  Does this maybe turn green when it's fully charged?

You're welcome.  If you haven't already, you also may want to take a look at the info. at this link:

The small battery symbol has a lightning bolt symbol when the battery is charging and a electrical plug symbol when it is completely charged.

  • How do I know when my battery is fully charged?

When I plug in my Nano I get the do not disconnect screen, and the little battery icon in the upper right corner is green with a plug in it.
At one time I remember seeing a big icon that was fully charged, but I don't remember how that came to be.

  • How can i know when my battery is fully charged ios 7.0.2

in ios 6, it appears an outlet icon when the phone is fully charged but i cant see that in ios7, it only has a thunderbolt icon. so i dont know when my phone is fully charged. someone helps me?

yeah, i know that. but you know, in ios6, it's not fully charged when it reaches 100%. i have to wait like 15mins when the outlet icon replaces the thunderbolt to know my phone is fully charged. but in ios7, it doesn't have an outlet icon so i dont know if my battery is full.

  • How do I know when the battery is fully charged?

I use my computer to charge it, but there's never any indication that it's fully charged, so whenever I take it off, it's just a guess, and I'd like to get the maximum battery life possibly out of a charge. Any way to tell?

Don't rely on the icon to indicate battery issues. It is trying to predict how long your iPod will run under the current operating conditions (as I understand things), so it is not so much of a gas gauge as a range indicator.
If the indicator is not all the way up to the tippy top, I wouldn't sweat it. Keep track of how long your iPod plays - that's the real indicator of battery condition.

  • I am unable to tell when the battery is completely charged.  I have showing the battery symbol with the bolt-this is present even when the device is not being charged.  And it is always showing 2% charge.

  • When my battery is fully charged it says only 5-6 hours left should it no be 7?

i got my macbook pro a few days a go and when my battery was fully charged it says ther is only 5-6 hours left , is there a problem with my battery

For starters, your battery will need to go through a few charge cycles before it reaches its full capacity.  That aside, most people won't hit 7 hours in normal use.  Apple (indeed, most computer manufacturers) tend to do their battery testing on very conservative settings (somewhat less than most people will use) so their reported battery run times are a "best case" scenario... not an average.
The time remaining indicator is also only an estimate based on your current usage.  Your battery has hardware internally that reports the actual percentage of your charge remaining.  Your computer than "estimates" how much longer the charge will last.  It works sort of like burning gas in a car.  The more processor intensive the task (i.e. pushing the gas pedal further), the shorter your charge will last (i.e. the faster you'll burn through your gas).
So, if your computer is just sitting there and you have absolutely nothing running and you have the display backlight turned way down, you may get an estimate of five or six hours... but if you start to watch a flash video or perform some processor intensive task, the estimated time remaining can change so something like three hours almost instantly.  It's basically calculating your remaining time on how you're using your computer "now" and that estimate will always update in real time based on your use.
If you want to get a better idea of how your battery is discharging, you can click on the battery icon and have the display show the percentage remaining vs. the time remaining.  When you display the percentage, you will get the actual percentage which will not fluctuate like the time remaining may.

I have exactly the same problem, which started again yesterday; coincidentally the day my warranty ran out!
The situation is complicated for me because I live in rural lincolnshire, but was in London all summer and had a new logic board replaced under warranty last month at the London- Stratford store.
It seems the £400 logic board replacement didn't fix it. When I try to get support, the website just laughs at me and holds out the cup for more money.  I had a chat with somebody in the store this evening and I've got to take it into a store AGAIN!
Perusal of the 'Support' pages turns up literally thousands of people who have this or similar faults, all the way back to 2006, and I've not seen anything yet indicating that Apple have got a grip of it.
I've been using Apple kit for 16 years now and I've never had any trouble until now, but this bloody laptop, which is no better than my iMac now for portability  has let me down badly several times in the last 6 weeks.
I'm really hacked off with this, get your **** together Apple!

you cannot overcharge the iPhone battery.  You can leave it plugged in with a full charge for as long as you want.  It will not affect the battery at all.

  • Does the battery charging in the macbook pro retina automatically cut off when the battery is fully charged?

Does the battery charging in the macbook pro retina automatically cut off when the battery is fully charged? or does it continue charging? In which case,is it better for the battery life to switch off the power supply or leave it on while using the macbook?

Yes, and the pilot light on the MagSafe2 connector changes from orange to green. If you unplug, you will start draining the battery again, whereas if plugged the Mac will take power from the brick and leave the battery in a charged state.

  • Light around adapter is red when the battery is fully charged

The subject basically says it all. My battery is fully charged, it has been for a while, but the ring is red. Under the battery icon in the upper right is says calculating until full, but it also says 100%, clearly something is wrong. Any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Aaron

This sometimes happens when the actually battery status and what your PowerBook thinks you battery stus is gets a little out of sync. This is normal so don't worry too much about it. As long as you calibrate on a regular basis you'll be fine.

  • How can I tell if Droid 4 is fully charged?

Just received a Droid 4 in mail today after my daughter's Incredible 2 died. I have a Stratosphere that shows a battery icon while phone is on charger and powered off, but this Droid has a completely black screen. It's on charger and powered off. My daughter won't let me touch it because she's afraid I'll ruin it if I turn it on while it's not fully charged. How can I tell if it's fully charged before we activate the phone?

By giving the power button a Quick press it should Revel the batteries level like this.. in this photo shot taken.. b33

  • How can you tell a Zen Micro is fully charg

I've had my zen micro for a few days now (using .02.05 fw), and i've charged it via USB overnight.
I then used it for a couple days and the batter is dead. I then charged via USB today for about 4hrs and i got that fully charged icon. But after reading some other post, they suggest to charge for 8-9hrs? I charged it for only 3-4 hrs. Is this fully charged icon accurate?
    TIA

    My experiences:
On fw .02.x and earlier USB charging would be about 6 or so hours; the host PC needed the drivers installed and if so, and it found the Micro, pulsing would start and the lightning bolt icon was on. It seemed to me that no matter what the charge level of the battery was, charging would take 6 or so hours on USB, about 3 or so on the AC charger.
With fw .0.x I have been using driverless charging (put the Lock switch ON) then charge and now pulsing/lightning icon are on whether I am using a PC with driver or not OR if I use a 3rd party charge ie not the Creative AC one. Charge time is maybe 3-/2 hours. Now if I top up a charge, it will take whatever time it needs ...
In either case the Micro stops pulsing, the lightning icon is no longer displayed and when you switch the Micro back on, 4 bars are displayed to indicate charge level.
