Duotone image showing as B&W in PDF

I have been working on a series of brochures, have created 5 so far, each with a duotone image. They would always be in color when viewing the whole document in Acrobat.
Today, I'm working on the last brochure, and somehow that duotone image is showing in black and white in Acrobat. Any clue why?
I worked from a jpeg, converted to Grayscale, then to Duotone with a CMYK value (100-75-10-0) and white. Seems like it worked fine before. I'm attaching an image which shows the previous brochure in PDF, and to the left, the current one with the issue.
Thanks for any advice.

Have you verified in Acrobat's ink manager that its actualyl seeing your custom channels/ plates? If not, that could be the problem and you need to find out why your custom color is lost...

  • JavaMail - HTML with images - Images show up as both inline and attachment

    Hi,
    I am writing a program to send email which have
    1. HTML template which references images via the content-id mechanism
    2. A PDF document
    The mails are being rendered properly in Outlook, Gmail and Yahoo (the images show as inline and the PDF as attachment), however in hotmail the images are showing up as both inline and as attachment.
    When creating the email using JavaMail I am using the following structure
    ...multipart/mixed
    ......multipart/related
    ..........HTML Code
    ..........Images
    ......PDF file (as a MimeBodyPart)
    Is there something which I missed here or do I need to live with the way hotmail renders the email.
    Thanks.

  • Edges of images show up in PDF

    I have had this problem on and off, and I cannot make sense of it. I have several GIF images that were created in Illustrator and/or Photoshop and then imported (linked) into an anchored frame. When I generate a PDF, some of these images show a light or dark grey boundary line on the right side. Resizing the images in Photoshop sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. When regenerating the PDF with a couple of images changed, some of these are OK but others are not and sometimes images that were OK previously show the grey boundary line. Always to the right and not consistent throughout the document.
    I am using High Quality print settings for the PDF. I am working in structured FM, but I guess this 'feature' has nothing to do with structured vs. unstructured. Maybe it is a bug in FM's handling of GIFs, although I do recall having similar problems with EPS files earlier. Can anyone tell me what causes the lines, and how to keep them from messing up my PDFs ?

    Found the answer to this in the framers digest mailout (framers Digest, Vol 71, Issue 9). Hopefully it wll help you too.
    I am not sure about the Illustrator files, but for Photoshop, resize your images so that the last number is an even number. (example: change 3.25 to 3.24)
    This worked for me! I couldn't believe it!

  • When inserting a .pdf of a document with a standard white paper color the test and images show up, but the white background is transparent. How do you also make the white paper color show up?

    When inserting a .pdf of a document into a Keynote template with a standard white paper color the text and images show up, but the white background is transparent. How do you also make the white paper color show up?

    Use the color fill option - select the inserted .pdf and assign a fill color of white to it using the Color Fill Menu on the Toolbar or the Color Picker Palette.
    Good Luck.

  • Preflight panel Info. shows my placed 300 ppi PDFs at much less effective resolution

    Ï'm brand new to InDesign (graphic designer who primarily works in Illustrator, some Photoshop, until now). I understand resolution and PPI but not necessarily in-depth knowledge of the related necessary workflow needed within InDesign, if that makes sense. I've spent hours and hours the last couple days trying to learn the finer points of InDesign as I work on an ad magazine for my company, but I can't for the life of me figure this particular issue out, and I'm guessing (hoping!) it's a very simple solution.
    I placed several 300 PPI PDF images in the magazine document (vector PDF's I created in Illustrator, saved as editable PDF's).
    I created a Preflight Panel in InDesign with a custom Profile, named it Print Ready, and set image resolution to 250 to ensure as I finish up this magazine design that things are press/print ready. It now shows 5 images with Image resolutions lower than the 250 minimum - all of the pdfs I placed. They all show very low PPI, 74, 109, etc. The 300 PPI pdfs were already sized to the exact proportions they needed to be in the InDesign file and for print, so there was very minimal scaling to fit the images into their frames, so I'm assuming scaling couldn't have created this issue and it has something to do with my workflow and the way I'm bringing them in.
    I'd like to point out that this magazine document was created by another designer, and I'm picking up where they've left off, adding some final images and copy. The other picture images she had in the file appear fine, no errors in Preflight Panel...even some preview stock photo's with the X's across them that appear to be very low resolution (we haven't purchased them and replaced them yet in this InDesign file), so not sure I understand why those are not showing up in my Image Resolution as errors??
    Anyhow, at some point I came across the Document Presets, which is currently set to Default - and when I click Define, I noticed it shows the PPI at 72. Does this mean that files I place are "brought in" at 72 PPI, regardless if their original PPI is higher? And if so, how do I change that?
    If not, how do resolve or correct?
    Sorry for the very long explanation - just want to give as many details as I can, since I'm not exactly sure which details are important to figuring out the problem. Thanks in advance!!

    I've checked the resolution in Photoshop just as a double-check and it shows resolution as 300 PPI. When you say "because they can be mixed" do you mean because elements and graphics with the PDF can be of varying resolutions? I hadn't thought of that, if that's what you meant. I do have some items within my pdf that might be lower resolution.
    If these show up in my Preflight Panel as an issue, does this mean they would be flagged also with the Printer? In trying to find a resolution I read several forum discussions about how Printers often run your document through a Preflight process and will send it back when there are low resolution images in the document.
    Is there some other way to be sure these images are in the InDesign document as 300 PPI so I can know they will in fact print correctly?
    PS - Peter - thanks for the super quick response! And I saw your the highlighted "Exceptional Contributor" on the right sidebar for the InDesign forum - clearly well-deserved! Congrats

  • Arabic and Chinese characters are showing ??? in PDF

    Hi
    I hava an application which calls BI publisher API to generate PDF file from rtf temlate and xml input. It is fine for English contents. But the Arabic or Chinese characters are showing ??? in PDF. If I use BI publisher Desktop to load the xml and generate pdf file, it shows correct Arabic/Chinese Characters in PDF. I also copied ALBANWTJ.ttf file to my application JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/fonts/ folder. But it still doesn't work. Anyone can help me with this?
    Thanks a lot!

    I created xdo.cfg and put it in my JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ folder. the file is configured as below:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <config version="1.0.0" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/config/">
    <properties>
    <property name="system-temp-dir">/tmp</property>
    </properties>
    <fonts>
    <font family="Default" style="normal" weight="normal">
    <truetype path="/fonts/ALBANWTJ.ttf"/>
    </font>
    </fonts>
    </config>
    But now I'm getting this error while generating pdf file:
    Adobe Reader could not open 'xxx.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
    Is there anything wrong in my xdo.cfg?
    Thanks!

  • Images show up on Firefox but not IE after upgrade from 8.1 to 9.2

    Hello,

              In order to make the images show up on IE, we have to modify the image path by adding extra two "//". For example:

    Agnes,
              I think you should distinguish whether it is a behavior difference between
              two browsers or it is an issue of WLS server.
              You can copy suspicious html codes into a dependent html file, then check
              how is is rendered by different browsers.
              If you have further issues, please add commnets here.
              Regards

  • How can I make my images look good when exporting to PDF document?

    Hello! I'm struggling here with a PDF Brochure that I need to create (intended for web only, not print).
    There are two images that look horrible and pixelated when I create my PDF file. I have tried everything, making the images bigger and smaller, using 72 dpi images and 300 dpi ones. Everything results the same way... It looks perfect in my InDesign file, but in the PDF it looks all damaged. Here are two screen shots, one of how it looks in the PDF and one of how it looks in InDesign.
    Could you please tell me what I need to do to guarantee that the image looks good quality in the PDF? (My document is 40cmx20cm, I don't not if using cm is affecting the document).
    To export to PDF I'm using the option: Adobe PDF pressets --> Smallest file size.
    If you can help me I would really appreciate it!
    Thank you,
    Nataly.

    Terrible idea. In a JPG the text will not be alive, you loose all interactivity.
    And making JPGs with InDesign is not what the program is meant to make.

  • PSE12: How to create gridlines on the image page then converted into a pdf? [was: N276]

    I want to download an image from the internet, for example, batman, create gridlines on the image page then converted into a pdf.  where on adobe photo shop element 12 can I do this.

    On way is to define a pattern:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/875370?tstart=0
    Another way is this neat free grid generator filter:
    http://www.richardrosenman.com/software/downloads/
    1. Add a blank layer above the picture layer, fill with white, and set Blend Mode to Multiply.
    2. Apply the filter. There are many options. Here I chose black lines on white background with 20 square boxes across. Note that the background should be pure white (255,255,255) so as not to change the original picture.
    You can also find lots of grid images on the Internet, for example a Google search on "grid" or "grid paper". As in the previous method, add this image above your picture and set its Blend Mode to Multiply.  Again, the background should be pure white.

  • Images show up only as blue question marks

    I just purchased a new Macbook Pro approximately one week ago, and concitering it's BRAND NEW I don't understand why I have this problem. On sites like www.deviantart.com and also www.weheartit.com images show up as blue question marks... I have downloaded both chrome and firefox to check if they were any different, but the same images wont load there either. I've read some about this, but no one seems to have any other advice than to "check preferences" and set it to "show images" or something, as far as i can see there is nothing wrong with the preferences. I have also downloaded and updated to the latest versions of both java and flash, but nothing seems to work. This is getting really frustrating, and I am desperate for help! I greatly appreciate ANY advice. Thanks in advance

    this is what I get on deviantart
    and well, basically this is weheartit
    Thanks!

  • How to reduce size of image while uploading it in livecycle pdf.

    Hi,
    I have created a pdf with Image field using live cycle designer.
    I have selected "Sizing: Scale Image to fit Rectangle".
    Now the problem is the pdf which i have created is 1.5MB and if i import or upload a 2.5MB image in image field then the size of pdf becomes 6MB.
    I have around 20 image fields in my pdf report , so if people keep uploading high resolution images in the pdf then the pdf becomes more then 15MB, slow and unmanagable.
    Is there any way by which even if I upload a 5MB image the it should automatically reduce image size?
    As the users does not bother to reduce the size of image they just upload high resolution and large size image in pdf.
    Please tell me the way through which i can reduce the image size automatically while uploading.
    Regards,

    Hi Prashat

    There is no official facility for doing so. There have been unofficial means, but those have been removed for the most part, due to some people's propensity to post offensive content.
