Duplex copying on an 8600

Where do you find the number that ends in a g or an n that tells you whether your printer will duplex copy and not just duplex print?

  • HP Laserjet p4015 CB526A, duplex copy quality

I have a LJ P4015 that is putting a excess toner on the right side of the the paper when duplexing. It doesn't do it on single sided printing. It looks like it should be a fuser problem but I replaced that and it didn't fix it. I've also replaced the toner cartridge, duplexer, and transfer roller.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus N911 Tries to Copy from ADF if Lid Covering the Glass is Completely Open

    Hi,
I just posted a reply to the following regarding an identical problem that I am having:
      http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/Officejet-Pro-8600-N911n-Printer-Tries-to-C...
It occurs to me, however, that the original post I replied to is so old that it is probably better to post my problem in a new thread.
I've borrowed some of the original poster's wording since his explanation of the problem was very clear and concise...
If I have the lid that covers the glass completely open on my HP Officejet 8600 Plus (N911) printer then it usually tries to feed pages from the ADF to copy and then reports a jam since I have not put anything in the ADF. If I partly or completely shut the lidthen it copies from the glass properly. This problem arises when I want to copy pages from a thick book for which it is very incovenient (and not really possible) to hold the book firmly in position with two hands while closing the lid with a third hand.
I think the problem is that the ADF sensors that detect when the ADF is loaded with paper are normally held in the position indicating no paper by gravity. When the lid is completely open it goes past 90 degrees, so gravity causes them to be fall into a position where the sensors are tripped.
We contacted Courtney, a Case Manager on the "HP AMS TCO Escalations Team" and she insisted that the 8600 is able to copy from the glass with the lid open and that our unit must be defective. She sent a new unit, but it had the same problem since it is a design flaw, not a manufacturing defect. When we called her back she did not seem to concerned that the 8600 could not copy with the lid open and did not really want to pursue our problem any further. We asked whether we could switch to an equivalent model that can copy with the lid open, but she said that the 8600 is their top-of-the-line model and there is no equivalent model. In the end, she offered to "buy back" the printer.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any fix so that I can copy with the lid completely open? Perhaps a firmware update so the printer realizes that if the lid is open then it should ignore the ADF? I would even be OK with a menu item that lets you disable the ADF.
Does anyone from HP monitor this forum and can they test this out and report the flaw to the design team, or suggest a work-around to me?
     Thanks!

    Paul,
I noticed that when the cover is completely open (90 degrees), there is a chime sound and the ADF symbol lights up in the upper right hand corner.  If I lower the lid a bit, I can press the copy button and get the copy started before the symbol lights up.  This is the same chime and symbol that lights up when pages are placed in the ADF.
I tried putting shims (small pads of post-its about 1/8" thick) under the bottom edge of the printer in the back.  That is enough to prevent the sensor from engaging the ADF with the top opened fully.  Yipee, hands free operation.  HP would probably say I voided the warranty.
Maybe the printer was tested on a table that was not level.

  • Double Sided printing 8600Pro 911a

I own three of these and I am simply trying to do a manual two sided copy of a document.I went to setting on the control panel and it states one sided or two sided.I click on two sided and it prints the face and withdraws back in as if it is going to do the other side but it doesnt.

    Hello @1711,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with 2-sided copying on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer. Now because you have the base model Officejet 8600 series printer there is actually no duplexer built into your copying and scan mechanism. Therefore, you must use the flatbed in order to manually 2-sided copy. Can I please have you follow the steps below to 2-sided copy.
Load first sheet face down on the flatbed glass
On the printer select the Copy button
Choose the 2 sided copy option
Select the Black or Colour Copy option
    The first page should copy
Next, you should see a prompt on screen to load the second page
Lift the flatbed cover and flip your document over so page 2 is facing down
    Select OK if prompted
The second page should now be copied
The printed copy should be 2-sided as your printer can duplex print but not duplex copy.
Please let me know if these steps work for you. Should the second side still print blank there may be additional  troubleshooting needed. Good luck!

  • Eprint job prints three-up on single page

I've been setting up a new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus with my iMac (OS X 10.8.2). The attachment was a single page pdf. It printed on one page but it printed three copies of the pdf image on the top of the page. How can I prevent this from happening?
I also want to know how to set up the printer so that it does eprinting as duplex copying by default.

    Hi Mackim2,
I see that you're wanted to setup duplex printing.  I would suggest using the ePrint mobile driver.  With the ePrint Mobile Driver, you can add "Hp ePrint" as a device on your computer and eliminate the steps of composing and sending an email.  The mobile driver allows you to select Duplex printing.

Let me know how it goes.

  • Two side printing out of Acrobat?

does anyone happen to know how to get a two-sided print out of Acrobat X? i have a 295 page numbers help document i want to print out and i can't find this setting no matter how much i look. the Adobe forum seems to be somewhat "windows-centric" but i am going to ask there as well.
i also tried a "two sided printing" search in the Acrobat help and no results came up.
TIA for any help on this.

    hi gents.
    thank you.
i do in fact have a duplex unit the HP 8600 All in One. the driver section for this printer (accessed through the Print + Scan options in Preferences) shows up as "HP OfficeJet Pro 8600" and it has both the Duplexer option checked as well as the "Additional Paper Input Tray" checked. Driver version is 3.3.3. also, note that i DO print on two sides in some of my other software (including docs printing with/from iOS7 on my iPhone).
i guess i need to check to see if i have the correct driver (?) but can you help me with two things before we get there?
    1. when i hit File > Print in Acrobat i get what looks like a "Mac" printer interface. it doesn't actually look like either of your screenshots (thanks) - even though i /think/ i have seen these before either on the laptop or on the desktop.
if i click on "Printer" in my dialog i then get a prompt (in this case with an adobe logo) that i have never understood: "The Print Setup dialog box is provided by the operating system. To ensure that you can use the full print capabilities of Acrobat, please set all print options from the Applications dialog box. Do you want to continue? Yes/No".
does anyone know what this means or what i am misunderstanding in all of this? seems totally bizarre to get the mac print dialog and then get into the Printer button and then get this option especially if i am running a print pulldown option from Acrobat...
    2. i am having to /manually/ put paper tray with the proper paper size into my two tray Espon WF 7520. i want to say that i /don't/ have this problem with the HP 8600 but now that i think about it i am not sure i have ever tried the second paper tray on the 8600. HOWEVER, i /do/ see the Duplexer checkbox option in the Driver settings of the 8600 while i /don't/ see this setting in the Epson WF 7520.
does anyone know if this is likely (also?!) a DRIVER SIDE ISSUE with respect to not getting any of my software to print to the second tray on the Epson? i mean, if i sherlock holmes this i /could/ say that if i cannot print to the second tray it is likely a old or wrong driver issue or even a implementation that they did not build into the good driver - since i cannot get to the second tray from anything on anything? or would this be incorrect...?
    THANKS

  • What is the best multifunction printer for Mac?

I'm currently trying to choose a great multifunction printer for our small office and I need advice on what brands are "fully" compatible with Mac OSX 10.4 and higher. I would like to know what your experiences are with certain brands and models.
In my particular situation I have a list of requirements in order of importance:
    1. fully compatible with the Mac OSX 10.4 (and higher) operating system.
    2. affordable (that's very subjective but for me that would mean something below US$600)
    3. monochromatic laser printing
    4. network printing: LAN or wifi (wifi preferable? are there disadvantages?)
    5. duplex printing
    6. duplex copying
    7. +/- 30 ppm or cpm
    8. scan to ftp or to hard disk (without the need for additional software preferable)
    9. network scanning
    10. toner and drum in one
    11. faxing
Please also state what you found great with your machine.
Looking forward to reading your opinions.

I don't have a home office - nor do I have any experience in printers the way some reviewers do. When it comes to printing, all I care is that it actually prints and doesn't jam.
Printers are so inexpensive these days and my old printer was a great Cannon that did it's job - cost about 80 bucks when I purchased. Then I bought an iPad and tried ALL the free printing apps - and even paid for an app that swore it would work with any printer. NOPE.
So, when this printer came up to test - I jumped on it! WOW. Not only is it so easy to set up, even I can do it (didn't even need the disk). It prints anywhere from my iPad and my iPhone. I also love the double sided printing and never realized how much double siding printing I actually do. It's great for long recipes. The photo aspect of it is sharp and clear. I LOVE The scanner and though I rarely use a fax - it's nice to know it's available so I don't have to drive to my local media store. For the price - it's amazing.
It's also super fast compared to my Cannon and super quiet.
I've started recommending this to my friends - even though they may not do much printing - it's amazing how much you'll start printing once you have this super hero. Kind of like my Kindle - I read way more books now than I did when reading hard/paper backs!!!.

  • Hp office jet pro 8600 not copying or printing

My hp office pro 8600 will not copy it acts like it will, but just spits out blanks pages. Ink is full. It started when I tried to print from my laptop and printing was off the page. I unplugged a restarted and then the copy issue started. Can you please help me?

Improper shutdown message is no harm, So thats fine. For paper mismatch, Please turn off wifi on the printer, Remove paper from the input tray, remove any paper from the document feeder if any. Post that check within the printer for any jams. Specially at the rear access door(Duplexer) & Under ADF cover. Hard reset the printer (Unplugg the power cord from the back of the printer, Wait for 10 sec's), while the printer is powered down, Press & hold the power button on the printer for 5 sec's (regardless of the power cord unplugged). Plug in the power cord, Wait for the printer to power up. check if the message (Paper mismatch) is still on the screen. If the printer shows the home screen, Input 8.5*11 (US Letter) size paper. Make a copy of a blank sheet by using the glass bed (Scanner bed). Under copy setting please use the default settings. Make a copy. Please let me know if you need further assistance. **************Although I work for HP, these are my views only.

  • Officejet 8600 Pro will not scan or copy

This is a virtually new 8600 Pro purchased within the last month.  At install, all functions worked perfectly and since purchase, the printer has ran less than a dozen pages of combined printing and copying.
This morning, I attempted to copy a simple document and the printed page produced was border-to-border black, verticle, lines the full length of the page.  In trouble shooting, I attempted to scan a document to my computer with identical results.  I have searched both the web at large and this forum and have went through every troubleshooting techinque I could find including, hard resets, powering down for a period, trying different outlets, double-checking current software version & the downloadable HP diagnostic tool...none of which were successful.
Routine printing functions work normally either from a connected device or, wirelessly.  Any function that requires the scanner lamp however, does NOT work and it appears to me the scanner bulb is not working.  I might mention that a call to HP Support was pretty much a wasted effort, the "tech" had a very thick accent and was near impossible to understand and seemed to have difficulty grasping the issue.
Any additional troubleshooting suggestions would be most welcome.  I purchased the unit from Best Buy and I suspect they would exchange it since it was so recent but I'm presently unable to walk and exchanging would be more than a little inconvenient.  I'd prefer to fix the problem if at all possible.  Thanks.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium will not copy or scan.

    Hello,
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium that prints just fine however it will not copy or scan. When I attempt to copy a document it displays Starting Copy... on the printer but will not copy and must be turned off and on to use the printer again. When I attempt to scan it brings up an error box telling me to check all of my network connections.
I have already tried the services.msi fix and have ran hp printer and scannor doctor tool to attempt to fix my problem.
In the services.msi I found that all services dependant on (WIA) were already running and set to automatic.
The scan doctor found that It wasn't communicating with the drivers, which I then reinstalled, and restarted the computer. It then continued to have problems with the drivers and asked me to contact support.
    Thank you for your time.
edit: The printer is also running the latest firmware and I have also checked my anti-virus firewall so that it is allowing the printer through network. (note: in attempt to fix the issue i have both a usb and network connection trying to get either connection to work).

    Hi-
To make sure I understand this correctly, you are unable to do a copy at the device itself?   This should function without the device being connected to a PC at all.   if this is indeed the case, it sounds as if this is a hardware issue.  I would then check with HP support on your product for warranty repair.
I am an HP employee, however, this content reflects my personal opinion and is in no way associated with HP.

Product Name: HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a
    OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit
I noticed the problem: After I scanned a medical card that was 80% cyan.
Problem: The problem persists when scanning/copying using the ADF or using the scanner glass bed.
Only occurs during color scanning or copying.  I can print a file from my laptop or home pc with no issues, as long as the color file did NOT come from my printer.

    Hi @Veritasabt,
I see that you are having issues scanning and copying in color from the glass and the ADF. Thank you for providing the screen shot. I can help you out today.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Update the printer's firmware. HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a Firmware.
Try scanning again to see if you have the same results.
Please check your private messages for additional steps to try.

  • How to make a copy of a legal size document on HP Officejet Pro 8600

How to make a copy of a legal size doucment on HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One?

    Hi,
    Please try
    (a) Load legal size papers onto the input tray (you have to extent the tray from the blue/cyan part to fit legal size papers),
    (b) Load original face up on the ADF,
    (b) Touch copy,
    (e) Touch Settings (now you can change size and few other options,
    (f) Touch Black or Colors to copy.

Hi @MKortan , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're having copy issues.  I would like to try and help!
What paper size are you using?
I'd recommend performing a a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
Also, try plugging the printer power into a different wall outlet.
I'd then suggest updating the printer firmware:
