Duplex Printing of Cards in Pages

Can anyone on the board tell me if Pages will allow you to create/print two-sided business cards? I've been peeking through the discussion but cannot tell.
Thanks very much!

Hello
If you build your layout with precision you may put several recto on one page and several verso on the other page.
Printing on a recto-verso aware printer will do the trick.
I did that with a recto-verso UNAWARE printer.
I asked for 20 copies of page 1.
Reversed the sheets
asked for 20 copies of page 2.
I met no problem at all.

  • Does the OffficeJet 8500 pro support auto duplex printing on card with weight 256gsm or higher?

I'm looking for a printer with comparable print costs to the officejet 8500 pro but which will allow me to auto duplex print onto card so I can create colour postcards.
Will the 8500 pro handle this reliably, or is there a better choice?
    Thanks

  • Duplex printing switches to single page at a certain point in pdf file

    Hi everyone,
I have combined about ten separate pdf files into one complete pdf file for a client. The problem is that when they print the file using duplex printing, they're saying that at a particular point in the document it switches to single page printing instead of duplexing all the way through. It seems to be switching to this single page printing at the start of a particular section, ie. I mentioned that I had combined separate pdf files into the one document and it switches to the single pages where one of these separate documents start. I went back to the original Indesign file relating to this document and noticed that when I pdf this I can see the following in the range field that I assume is related to section numbering as the document contains sections:
    Range: +1-+12
The other pdfs that were used to create the combined file also have sections but the abovementioned numbering doesn't appear in the Range section like the problematic pdf I mentioned above.
Can someone tell me why the duplexing stops at this certain point? Does it have something to do with the section numbering as explained above? Also, I have tried to reproduce the issue from my end but mine is printing it perfectly well, i.e it duplexes all the way through, so could it be an issue with their printer or some setting they have? Or can I fix it somehow from my end by manipulating the original indesign file that has the sections?
    Really appreciate any help.

It's probably on their Printer setup. Sometimes if you set print for duplex then another Operator comes in and uses the same printer and assumes it's simplex printing it can print duplex or whatever the previous print setting was used.

  • C309a (Duplex Printing): the first two pages don't "duplex"

Hi, I've got a little annoyance here: I love the duplex printing feature, but the first two pages don't "duplex!" The first page prints fine but doesn't get retracted back inside, and then the second page prints upside-down on a new sheet of paper.  The rest of the document "duplexes" as expected. Is there some option I'm (not) enabling?
I'm running Windows XP SP3, wireless printing. Also for what it's worth, everything I've duplex-printed have been PDF files.
Hopefully there's a solution and I don't have to continue leaving the first two pages of my documents blank
    Thanks in advance!

If you have blank pages in your file you must set the print dialog through print booklet to print blank pages.

  • Duplex printing for last 2 pages only

A customer has an invoice report where they want the terms and conditions (which are 2 pages) duplexed while the report itself is not printed that way.  Any ideas if this can be done using native SSRS?

I am not sure this will work or not, but you could embed the printer code for duplex printing into your stream.

  • Booklet Duplex Printing: Error msg: No pages selected to print

After solving the problem regarding duplex printing where the backpages were printed upside down, I´m stuck in another problem.
I use Macbook Pro, Snow Leopard OSX.
I´m  trying to print a huge document, 669 pages, so I know I must divide it  into groupings of smalled booklets, so I select the pages to print in print range:
    2 - 41
the preview composite is then updated and it now shows 1/20.
In Page Handling Area I now have 1 to 10 sheets
After everything is set and everything looks good I hit enter, to start printing.
No later than that I get the first of 2 error messages from Adobe Acrobat:
The document could not be printed
    followed by:
There were no pages selected to print
    Whats wrong?

I´ve tried printing as image from advanced settings and it worked.

  • Legal half duplex printing with tops of pages along the fold not the edge of the paper

So i am about to explode. i have a booklet 4.25 x 7 to be created on a folded legal sheet obviously along the short edge with the tops of the page to be along the fold. but i cannot get indesign to print it via the booklet print.
i am trying, but it keeps turning the pages so the tops of the booklet are on the top of the long edge and the fold to be along the short edge. in short it will not place the tops of the pages to be along the folding edge so it never fits on the paper not mater what orientation it is.
i even tried to rotating the spread but there was not such luck.
Help please, this should be easy???

Print booklet is not capable of rotating pages, and rotating the spread view is only a visual aid during layout. It has no effect on the actual page orientation.
I don't really understand what you mean by the tops of the pages are to be along the fold. InDesign has no direct understanding of binding along the top or bottom edge of a document, like a calendar, where the pages flip up or down rather than left or right like a book. To do that you must set up the document as if it were rotated, with the spine vertical, then you can use the Rotate Spread View command to turn the spread view on your screen while you are doing the layout.

  • Extra Blank Page Printing When Duplex Printing on HP 8610

Whenever I do duplex printing, before the 1st page of the document prints, a blank page comes out of the printer. The document itself prints okay in 2 sided mode.

Welcome to the HP Community , I understand when you duplex print from your Windows Vista system, your Officejet 8610, a black page prints before the document actually prints out. I hope to help you with my suggestions. To get started, try running the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. Please let me know the outcome! Try printing again now to see what happens. Also, test print from more than one program, which will tell us if the issue is within one program on your PC, or with the printer driver itself. I hope to hear from you!

  • C9295A Duplex Printing Problem

I have been successfully using the C9295A (Officeject 6000, E609n) wireless printer for eleven months.  Set up wireless, connected with win 7 PCs and laptop.  Primarily used for duplex printing and has worked very well.
Several weeks ago it started having errors when printing, almost exclusively when trying to use the duplex printing.  The first page would print normally while the second side would print only about the bottom inch.  Each time it failed there was an error showing in the print queue (Error: Sent to Printer) and subsequent print jobs would fail until that was cleared.  Didn't matter which machine I used.  Connected with ethernet and had the same problem.  Used with wired PC and ethernet and still had the same problem.
Used downloaded printer troubleshooter and network troubleshooters from HP.  They did not detect problems.  Reinstalled software on two machines with no change.  Had a network port error after that, but said to reboot and try again and it passed.  Printer is set up on a WDS port.
I did notice that if I printed a large job (say 10 pages) with duplex it would print most of it correctly.  Have also had some failures where a single page would fail, usually when printing graphics.
I can't seem to find my specific failure in any of the troubleshooting pages.  I have seen the same symptom in some older posts concerning IE8 printing but  I use firefox.  Also the problem is the same whether from Word, a PDF document or a browser.
Has anyone seen a similar problem?Kind of seems like it is having problems keeping the info in memory in the printer.  Is that possible?
Lastly, I haven't yet figured out how I get help with my printer under warranty.  The HP site just keeps sending me back to troubleshooting pages.  They don't recognize my serial number (even though it is registered) and their program to detect it fails.  When I tried to use the "contact by email" link it just brought me back to the "check warranty" page which, of course, fails.  Anyone have any insight there?
Can't believe I worked for this company for 29 years and still can't figure out their website - guess it doesn't say much for the "ease of use".

Again, thanks.  I also contacted Canon and they suggested I delete the driver and reinstall from their website.  I did that it worked.
For anyone with a similar problem here is the link and instructions from Canon:
Remove the current driver from printers and scanners.  Highlight the MX920 series and click the -.  Download the latest driver from our support site.
    http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consumer_Products/products/Fax__Multifunctionals/ InkJet/PIXMA_MX_series/MX925.aspx?DLtcmuri=tcm:14-1099303&page=1&type=download
Install the driver and add the printer in printers and scanners.  When you select the MX920 series printer confirm that MX920 is listed under “print using” and then add.  When this is complete, try to print.

Thank You for the advice. I called technical help and Jesse spent considerable time and effort to help me solve the problem. The final verdict is that their is a hardware glitch, not software, The nearest Canon repair center is apparently in some place called Lake Forest, CA.  I was born and lived all my life in Southern CA and never heard of Lake Forest. It must be in Northern CA so I can't simply take it in to the shop for repairs. Jesse informed me of a consumer loyalty discount available if I should wish to purchase a new printer.

  • Can the Canon Pixma ix 6520 support manual duplex printing?

I know that this printer doesn't support duplex printing but I was wondering how would I double side print manually with the canon pixma ix6520?
    Thanks!

    Hello thekay94.
Manual duplex printing can be done by printing on one side at a time.
If you are printing from a Windows computer, please select the Duplex printing option in the Page Setup tab of the Printing Preferences menu.  If you are printing from a Mac, please use the options in the Layout menu to print the odd pages first, then load the stack back in the printer with the blank side facing you to print on the even numbered pages.
If immediate assistance is needed, feel free to call us at 1-800-OKCANON.

When I try and print a card to a duplex HP printer, it prints but the front and back pages are incorrectly aligned and the card can't be used.
Do Apple not intend for you to print on your own printer but send away and buy the finished article?
What should the page settings be to get proper results? Is duplex printing not supported?

  • Insurance Cards - Duplex Print [Documaker 12.1]

    Hello,
We are trying to build insurance cards - which have information both on front side and back side. Here are some more details of the cards.
    1. A Page (8.5in/11in) should contain three such cards (dimensions are such that if the cards get repeated, A4 will accommodate three of such cards).
    2. A header with a standard wording on the front side of the paper and a blank header should be printed on back side of the paper.
    3. Each side of the Card has a border. It is expected that the border to overlap exactly on top of each other on front/back.
    Here is what we did.
    1. Created a Front side header and a back side header. Marked the following options on Section properties.
Front Side Header: "Options" : Entry and Print, "Duplex" = Front Page | Back Side Header : "Options" = "Optional Back" and "Duplex" = "Rolling"
    2. The Front Side Card Section Properties : Duplex : Front Page and Trigger - Manual Trigger
    3. The Back Side Card Section Properties : Duplex : Back Page and Trigger - Manual Trigger
**These are one of the combinations that we are working upon. However we are unable to get the desired result. I would appreciate any suggestions to get this working.
Please let me know if I need provide more information. Thank you.
    Documaker Studio Version : 12.1

Unfortunately, I'm not sure there's enough information - at least for me - to say what you are doing right or wrong. Therefore, I'll throw out some generalities and see if any of this helps.
Whether you have headers on both sides of the page is not as relevant as it is that your card front and back line up correctly. So the key will be to ensure that the sections are assigned the same origins (front and back) and that the starting position of those origins is the same. For instance, you did not describe whether you intend to define the form with the necessary sections pre-defined on the pages or whether you are trying to dynamically trigger from 1 to 3 cards per page. For instance, the letters I get from my insurance carrier have perforations where the cards go, so the "space" for the cards is always there. The cards that are not to be printed are either left blank or have "VOID VOID VOID" where the name goes. If that is your situation, then you can pretty much define a "canned" form that already has all the sections placed where you want and use absolute origins.  If you intend to "use" the space where secondary cards would normally print for other purposes when there is only one, then you are going to use a different (probably relative) origin method. Studio does a pretty good job showing your the net effect of relative placement.
Duplex is determined by the first "printable" section on the page. This can be a header if you have one, but doesn't have to be. If you have no need for a real header, simply create a "dummy" placeholder section and give it an origin that will make the succeeding sections place where you want.  Although this is a dummy section, you do have to assign the same recipient that your card sections will use. And that means you either have to assign that recipient a count of 1 or you have to use the Always trigger and assign the count on the trigger.
Remember "placeholder" is a type of section attribute and is not to be confused with "hidden". Hidden sections are not considered printable and therefore will not control the duplex settings.
So if you are defining a canned form, you would go ahead and create both pages in DMStudio and assign the necessary sections to both sides. Then you just have to remember to assign the duplex setting to whatever is the first printable section on the page that will have the same recipient as your card sections.
