Duplex printing on Samsung ML3051N with Tiger

Hi,
I have a network connected samsung ML3051N printer, and I'm trying to print in full duplex mode with it.
On Windows when I select the duplex option, the printer prints one side, then alert me to place the printed sheets on the manual tray to continue printing the other side.
After installing the drivers from Samsung I still see the option to print in duplex but the printer is ignoring it.
I'm looking at using an HP driver to see if this solves my problem...
Has anyone encountered this problem?
Thanks.
Sato

On the Mac, you have to select Paper Handling from the pop-up menu that normally says Copies & Pages. Then select even-numbered pages and reverse order printing, and then print. Then take the papers out, turn them over, and print again, this time selecting odd-numbered pages and normal order.

  • Can't duplex print B4 paper size with Snow Leopard and HP8100N

Apple print drivers dumped the standard European paper size B4 (see ISO 216 for specs) many OS's ago, however, I was able to duplex print B4, which is a standard size for the HP8100 trays, using the HP Duplexing accessory, by specifying a 'custom' paper size (10.14 x 14.33). Now, with Snow Leopard and the 10.6.4 and the updated HP8100 print driver from Apple, I get the message "The Duplex Option, Flip on Short Edge" is not available when the destination paper is set to Custom."
It seems the easiest solution would be for Apple to bring back the B4 paper size--I don't know why they eliminated it. The next solution would be for Apple or HP (whoever is responisble for the print driver) to back up to whatever allowed duplexing of custom sizes in all recent OS's up to Snow Leopard.
I have thousands of pages of music to print and manual duplexing just isn't an option. Anybody have any work-around ideas?

  • Duplex Printing from the web with a Macintosh

I have a MacBook Pro running OSX.5.8 and an HP printer Photosmart C309a.  I have not been able to use duplex printing from the web.  Any suggestions on how I can achieve this?  It's the reason I bought this particular machine.

Scale controls the size of what is printed.

  • Duplex print proble using CS5 with HP 5200 printer

(sorry for the double post guys, since it's a problem that occur under BOTH indesign and adobe pdf pro i've posted in these 2 forums)
hi everyone. i have a serious problem ! probably the worst bug i ever had in my design labs at my university :
we  have a HP 5200 DTN shared over our network using a 10.6.3 server using  CUPS 1.4.3 for print drivers. we print double-sided pages a lot (duplex  mode).
we print using a 10.6.4 macpro with CS5 : adobe PDF  pro and Indesign. when printing a multiple page document and using the  duplexing option (layout option under the print setup) the pages are  cropped, part of the images and text (any kind of elements) are cropped.  it's like there's a BIG margin on the right side, nothing is printed  all the elements are cropped...
the stangest thing is : if  i don't use the duplex mode (layout option under the print setup) these  cropped pages prints perfectly. the moment i start using the duplex  option every pages is cropped even when they are not printed in duplex.
the  problem occur with any indesign documents, PDF docs, 2 pages at a time,  bigger documents. And most important : only on the HP 5200 DTN printer.  we have a xerox laser color 7750gx and the problem does not occur at  all.
    any ideas?
thanx for any tips & help !

This looks as though its a driver problem as the Xerox prints OK.
The driver version on the HP site is from early 2009 so it may be due for an update. Check that you have downloaded all the current driver updates available from the Apple site.
The slightly out of date server software may also have a bearing on the problem. Try releasing the HP printer from the server and set it up directly on the Mac you are using and see if that solves the problem.

  • Current Recommended Printer/Scanners that Work with Tiger?

Have scoured this forum and have been reading of the problems of printers that don't work (seems to be primarily Epson).
My dad-in-law has an older (non-Intel) iMac w/10.4.11 installed.
His HP printer/scanner failed, and we need a new one.
Preferrably under $150. (His failed printer is still available but at a cost of over $400.)
Taking his iMac beyond Tiger is not a great solution for us. We are dealing with an elderly gentleman,
and, well, changes are difficult to make for him.
    Any recommendations? Epson? HP? Canon?
We've already tried a new Epson Work-Force...being told by sales guy it would work, and it clearly didn't (and confirmed by Epson). That was the wf-2520 in case anyone cares.
    Thanks kindly everyone!

For future readers of this thread, here are a couple of other avenues to look into.  Refurbished models from some of the big box retailers on-line may be older discontinued models that support older OS versions.
To find out if a particular older model supports the OS you need, check the  support web site from the printer manufacturer to see what driver downloads are available.  You might be able to find  drivers for OS 9 or 10.4, for example for an HP or Brother refurbished printer on staples.com, for example.

  • HP Officejet J4500 duplex printing with Windows 8

I have an HP Officejet J4500 All-in-One printer that I purchased about 5 years ago when I was still using MS XP on an Off Brand computer. It worked fine and would print double-sided when I wanted to save paper on a larger print job. It would even show me on the PC moniter with an illustration when to turn the pages to do the back side printing. However, my old computer died last summer, so I upgraded to an HP computer (without the printer, since I had a good one already!), using the newest Windows 8 system. My problem is, the printer still woks perfectly EXCEPT for two-sided printing (and no helpful illustrations on the moniter!)  How do I fix that? Do I need to re-install the printer wizard or do a Windows 8 upgrade for the printer?

Hello there bevspets, Welcome to the Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience
I saw your post about not being able to duplex print on Windows 8 with your OJ J4500 series. I would suggest running the HP Print and Scan Doctor
to start, which should correct printing or scanning issues for you. If there is more of a serious issue, it will alert you to what it is.

  • Duplex printing with Designer 8 (not ES)

    Hi,
I only have the Designer 8.0 that came with Adobe Design Standard CS3, so I don't have the "PDF Print Options" under "Form Properties". Is there any possiblity to set the DuplexMode anyway? I'm not used to coding, so I would be pleased for an easy to understand explanation, if it is possible via script.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Which app do you to print ? For Windows 8 phone,  the HP AiO Remote BETA may give you a miss but for the Android devices (such as your Samsung) you should be able to use HP AiO Remote app to print in duplex thru Google Cloud Print:
    (a) Touch HP AiO Remote app,
    (b) Select file to print,
    (c) Touch Print,
    (d) Select printer on the list (if you have more than 1 printer),
    (e) Now you can select Long Edge (for Duplex) or Off (for simplex),
    (f) Touch Print

  • Duplex printing on Reader 8

Although I use the pulldown menu in the print window to indicate that I want to print a pdf document on both sides of the paper, the document prints on only one side. Is there some way I can print pdf documents opened in Reader 8 on both sides:
My Reader version is 8.1.3. I am running OS 10.4.11 on an iMac. My printer is an HP Photosmart 6280.

I looked around a bit but didn't see that duplex printing was an option with the 6280. The c6280 has it.
Are you sure you have that option?

  • Duplex printing on a Samsung CLP-550n

I'm running a MacBook Pro with Leopard and have been printing (one-sided) quite happily to our networked Samsung CLP-550n. But, I can't print duplex, the option is greyed out in the printer dialogue box yet from other macs around the office its possible? The default on the printer is set to long-edge binding duplex printing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Alright, it really was a coincidence. However, the printer is using up way too much toner, the text is all blurry. I've already lowered the quality to draft, but it's not enough.
This printer is known to use a lot of toner, but not that much. I had to adjust some settings under Windows, too, to reduce the consumption, but it wasn't so bad that the writing was blurry. And I can only adjust the quality in Linux, I didn't find any other options to play with.

  • Duplex printing problem with hp 9500 (right side always just half printed)

Since OS X 10.6 was released there is a problem with the print out of duplex printed pages (specially via Indesign CS4 broschure printing function). Using Mac OS X 10.5.8 with old and new driver everything is fine - but under 10.6, 10.6.1 or 10.6.2 neither old nor one of the new driver releases 2.1, 2.2 or 2.3 will work.
When I´m trying to print a duplex printing page the print of the right page will be cutted off at the half of the page - like the page would not print A3 horizontally but vertically (so the rest is cut off). The new print features within the printing menu (manual duplex print and print broschure will have same effect but with a strange miniaturization to A5 - although it should be A4). All in all the is no way to print out a duplex printing with OS X 10.6 and hp 9500. Will there be any solution in sight? Are there other with the same effect?

I have an identical issue to neuegestaltung, but with an HP 5500. I can print single-sided to A3/tabloid successfully but when I try printing duplex the right quarter of the page is cut off on both sides - almost as if it thinks it's printing portrait.
Applications affected include Adobe Acrobat 8 and 9, Adobe CS3 and CS4 applications including InDesign.
Preview works fine, but of course the colour balance makes the output unusable.
OS 10.6.2, print driver HP Color LaserJet 5500 v 3010.107.
Using the Gutenprint driver I can't either do A3 or colour so there is no solution there.
Worked fully and correctly with the same apps under 10.5.x.
At the moment I am running Windows XP under VMWare to print from Acrobat, which is plainly silly.
Any useful* observations, suggestions or workarounds welcome.
*Needless to say, "It's Adobe's problem" or similar are not acceptable responses. It may well be an interaction between the Adobe's applications and Apple's printing system and/or driver of course; in that case the companies need to collaborate to solve the issue.

  • HP LaserJet 1320 Duplex Printing Not working with Windows 7

    Hi
I've just bought a new PC with Windows 7 Home Premium. I have an HP LaserJet 1320 printer (Prod no. Q5927A, SN CNGW53RLRY).
I cannot find driver that works the same way as the previous driver HP LaserJet PCL5. If I use this driver and can still get duplex printing but it will only print one copy at a time.
If I upgrade to HP Universal Printing PLC (or PLC v5) I can print multiple copies but not duplex printing. I have searched high and low through the HP site but to no avail.
Any help and advice will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello,
I've seen this same issue with my printers (other HP printers) whereby the default setting to support the Duplexing hardware was set to 'off'.
A quick method to check this is look at what the setting is for Duplex hardware in the Device Settings tab, and if it's not set, correct it.
      Printer Properties:
From the 'Start' orb -> [Devices & Printers] -> right click on your Printer icon -> select 'Printer Properties' -> click on 'Device Settings' tab.
You should see a dialog similar to the mine (attached): look for the 'Duplex unit (for 2-sided printing)' and see if it's set to "Not Installed":
--> in either case, click on 'Not installed' and from the dropdown box, select 'Installed'... Click 'OK' to accept the changes and close the dialog.
    Printing Preferences:
again, right click on your Printer icon -> select 'Printing Preferences' -> click on 'Advanced' tab.
-->Check to see if there is a 'Duplex Hardware' or '2-sided printing' option in here: mine doesn't show one but thougth I'd mention it nonetheless.
Click on the 'Finishing' tab and select 'Print on both sides'...or simply test print a multi-page document and set those preferences on-the-fly.
Let me know if this helps...

  • Duplex printing with HP Color Laserjet 4650dn

    Dear all,
I wanted to print the handouts of a Powerpoint presentation (Office for Mac 2008, v12.2.5), but could not get a double-sided copy. The printer (HP CLJ 4650 dn) is installed with the OS X 10.6.4 embedded drivers etc. as HP CLJ 4650. Works fine otherwise.
The settings for the printer in System Preferences/Print Fax/General indicate that I apparently have a driver version 16.4. By accessing the Printer Webpage I have set the duplex option ON and checked all the other options for there settings. As far as I know it seems correct.
I have ticked the box Duplex Unit in System Preferences/Print Fax/Driver.
However, when I want to print the slides/handouts and open the print window I can only see Manual Duplex as an option in the drop-down menu Copies & Pages. No straight forward Duplex Printing or Automatic Duplex Printing option whatsoever of which the printer is capable.
No problem with the two remaining MS Windows Vista PC's, which frustrates me.
Have I missed something? Or done something wrong/different?
If anyone has a suggestion I would be grateful.
    Kind regards,
    John Keasberry

Have you taken a look to the configuration of the Printer? I have a HP 2340 with duplex and to configure it I have to do the following:
On the Preferences Pane, click on Printing and Fax or open the Printer configuration Utility. In any case, click on the printer and choose "Configuration of the printer" (in the Printer utility this is in the pritner menu). Then you will see information of the printer... May be there you have an option to activate the duplex... In may case there is a checkbox.
But may be you have done this...
    Bests,
    Álvaro

  • Duplex Printing Bug with HP OfficeJet Pro L7680

Well - Duplex printing works but the back page will only print with binding on the top, Binding on the side does not work! Minor bug but still a bug at least with the HP!!

    Kev,
A couple of points - assuming your using the HP OfficeJet Printer - I am assuming your connecting it via the Ethernet point which means it is communicating via IP. That being said - here is what I ran into.
When I first added the HP Printer - Leopard wanted to configure the printer via BONJOUR. I went ahead and let it do that - however printing was terrible!!!! I could send jobs to the printq, but the only way they would print was if I turned the printer on/off again - and the the would magically start printing. Then the printer would go "offline" and I was forced to do this same on/off routine.
So - I went back into add printers - and let the dialog box sit there for a little while and all of the sudden the list updated with an HP2A7180 - Kind - IP. I selected this printer and then told it to use the HP driver via the Print Using - drop down selector and my HP has been working fine since (minus the duplex).
Additionally it installed an configuration utility which allows me to monitor inks, settings and such.
    Hope this helps - Bill
