Duplex Printing - Page 2 upside down

I can duplex print, but the even number pages (second side printed) are upside down.  Also, my properties tab options do not match the manual's description, so I'm not sure if I'm setting it up properly

Hi shell75,
I would like to help you with this issue of page 2 printing upside down. Make sure that your Firmware is up to date.
Then follow these steps in the User Guide on duplex printing.
Print on both sides (duplexing)
You can print on both sides of a sheet of media automatically by using the HP
Automatic Two-sided Printing Accessory (duplexer).
NOTE: Two-sided printing requires an HP Automatic Two-sided Printing
Accessory (duplexer) to be installed on the printer.
TIP: You can perform manual duplexing by first printing only the odd pages,
flipping the pages over, and then printing only the even pages.
Perform two-sided printing (Windows)
1. Load the appropriate media. For more information, see Guidelines for printing on
both sides of a page and Load media.
2. Make sure the duplexer is installed correctly. For more information, see Install the
duplexer.
3. With a document open, click Print on the File menu, and then under the Print on
Both Sides options on the Layout tab, select either Flip on Long Edge or Flip on
Short Edge.
4. Change any other settings, and then click OK.
5. Print your document.
Depending on which flip you choose will determine how it prints on page 2.
Let me know how it goes or if you need any further help.
Thank you,
I worked on behalf of HP.

  • How do I correct odd page upside down while duplex printing?

My MX870 prints every other page upside down while printing a catalog in duplex mode.  How can I correct this? The catalog was written using MSWord 2007. Obviously, I can manually duplex the catalog. I am praying there is a solution to be able to automatically duplex.
    Thank you.

After 3 days of futile efforts to solve odd page upside printing in duplex print. The problem was solved as follows:
    Go to the print menu
    1. Go to quick setup
    select "Preview - Duplex - Paper size - Orientation [make sure document and printer orientation are the same}
    2. select "page setup "
on page layout select "normal size print" - "duplex automatic" - "stapling left side"
Print area setup  "select - used reduced printing"       Selection of " use reduced printing" is the key to solving the problem

If you have HP software in your Applications folder that was not specifically meant for 10.7 (Lion), uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Now reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

Thanks for your reply....FYI...I was trying to download from www.adobe.com on
the specific page that has downloads of your products.    As far as the
alternate source is concerned I am not totally sure what the capabilities it has as
I am recovering from a hospital stay and had to send my wife to retailer to
pick this up because I am accessing email from home until I return to work and
need something to work now.  I don't yet have the SW.  (I would have had her
buy the actual Adobe Pro 9.0 -- but it is a wapping $499 and change).

    Hi,
Take a look at SAP note #683605. Usually this is a problem of the printer driver at windows level if you use a windows device type like SAPWIN or SWINCF in SAP. If the printer is a HP PCL printer, try creating a spool and print via a PCL device type like e.g. HPLJ4000. The problem should not happen in this case. But the solution is a corrected windows printer driver as per note #683605.

  • Problem with duplex printing - alternate pages upside down

I have been trying to print 2 per side, double sided from Adobe Reader. I have tried this as two up, duplex and also as booklet printing. Whatever I do, the second side is upside down. "Flip on long/short edge" appears to make no difference.
Trying to resolve it in the printer properties is worse: Adobe Reader seems to override them and I get single sheets single sided. If I select both "two sided" in the Reader dialog and "Duplex" in the printer dialog, the second side overprints the first side (but is the right way up!.
I am using Reader 10.1.2 with Windows 7 and an HP Deskjet 6980 printer with duplex unit using the Windows 7 default drivers. I have installed the "AdobeReaderPatch10.1.2_cpsid_92870.zip".
There must be a combination of settings which works! Can anybody help? Please?

TThat is my problem also. You are flipping to the long side, you need to flip to the short side. I order to get the back one to be right side up. I was able to get windows 8 to do that today without doing anything beside selecting landscape and flip to short side. But when I use my iPad I donot have that selection. I need software to be able to have that option.

  • 2710 Xi Back Page Upside Down Under Vista with Duplex

I have seen where "Bob" has helped others with upside down printing on the back page with Vista, using the duplex function.  My operating system is Vista Premium and my printer is a Photosmart 2710 xi.  Can you help me with this same issue?  I am open to someone sending me the patch.  I have sent an email to "Bob" and I am also make this post.
    This question was solved.

Thanks to Bob Headrick for giving me the patch to correct the problem of upside down (head-to-foot) printing on the back when using my duplexor and Vista Premium on my 2710 xi.  His patch works fine.
I had difficulty understanding the instructions, but my son is a computer guru and used the patch effectively.  It worked!  It is unbelievable that HP doesn't coordinate with Mr. Headrick and resolve this issue for the sake of thousands of HP customers.  Shame on HP and thanks again, Bob.

  • Pages always prints envelopes upside down

When using Pages to print envelopes, my HP laserjet always prints the envelope upside down. Apple and HP indicate I shoudl feed the envelopes with the top to the right. This works properly with everyother piece of software I have used
I know, when I use Pages I could just change the orientation of the envelope in the envelope feed slot, or check "reverse page orientation" in the Print dialog (so the envelope is upside down in the print preview.) But I'd prefer not to have to remember random procedures to accomodate software malfunctions. Is there some preference I can set in Pages (or something) to fix this so it works correctly?
PS.I hate to post this as a question, but the Apple Support Communities (SW platform, not the people ) has sort of forces this.
Why in the world does it present "Ask a question" as the main option. Initially I skipped that, but the community search funcion really *****. Searching is incredibly non-intuitive and poorly targeted (If I'm in the pages section why is it giving me totally unrelated results from unrelated sections?
Get on the ball Apple. You broke the "Support Communities" website and the OS X built in "Help Center" years ago, and still haven''t fixed them.
Thank God for all the helpful Mac users out there, because Apple's help and support efforts (Help platforms, manuals, etc.) seem to have fallen by the wayside.

    Hi John,
No help on your actual question, but some comments on the search function here.
Search offers the choice of limiting the searsch to a specific community/forum when the first results are presented. You can also limit the search to a specific user.
The basic search is a keyword search, and turns up any post that has that keyword in it (with some weighting added by then software). Searches search for "Any" of the terms included in the query unless you limit the results using commands such as  AND or NEAR. Not all that intuitive, I'll agree.
One other feature of the ASC site is the 'related' topics list, "More Like This," that appears after you've submitted a query. You'll find the list to the right of the message(s) in the community. A click opn the (green) checked items will often provide a solution to your(well described)  issue.
None marked 'solved' on the list at this time, but some worth exploring for hints or a solution.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Duplex printing pages are wrong-way round with MacBook snowleopard

Hello, I've just installed a new Laser Jet Pro 1606DN and the automatic duplex printing insists on producing the pages in this order: 2-1, 4-3 That is, to read the document, I will have to manually shift each page so that they are in sequential order.
I have tried saving all combinations of checking and unchecking collate & reverse printing with no result. The "standard" preset has both checked and duplex printing - I don't know how that it got that way.  Any other setting I try to save as a preset reverts back to collate, but I do not know if that is part of the problem or a symtom.  We have: reinstalled the driver 3 times, found that it is the same with pdf and word files, used the diskrepair utility and DiskWarrior, found the same error when we created a new administrator, and finally the hp tech support said it was not their problem and apple tech support said that I will have to reinstall the system. Hp was also scathing about apple macs being "for fun" and "not serious for business."  So far this problem has taken 5 hours of today and we are no closer to understanding the reason or knowing how to fix it.  A colleague has the same system (10.6.3) and printer, and has no problems.
    Thank you!

The driver was updated 1/15/2011 and solves the duplex issue with Snow Leopard (10.6)

  • Booklets prints second page upside-down

    Good morning,
I find it quite impossible that nobody can answer if not solve this problem.
Certainly I make some mistake but please do tell me where.
This is driving me mad. Sorry. Following I put again the problem I posted few days ago:
facts: iMac27, OSX 10.8.3, Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.6, pdf generated from inDesign. Printer Xerox WorkCentre 7425
I select print booklets, page 1 to 4, paper size A3 landscape, print front/back, binding left.
When I print, the first page is OK, the back page is upsidedown.
I have already tried all the possible setups but I get the same result.
    Thank you very very much.

  • Preview 4.2 scaling printed pages way down

Why would my standard pdf files suddenly be scaled down to approx., 60 percent when I select the print button? This has never occurred before. If I chose Command Print the scale is correct and prints full page.

I'm seeing the same problem. What version of HP drivers do you have? I have the latest drivers released for my HP printer which was released with the HP Printer Drivers Update 1.1.1 on September 11, 2008 (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/hpprinterdriver1 11.html).
Even with this update, the same problem is occurring...

  • HP7310 all-in-one if automatic duplex option chosen every other page prints upside down, Fix?

Whenever automatic duplex printing is selected the printer prints the first page correctly then sucks the page bak into the printer bu it prints the reverse side with the second page upside down.  How do I fix this?

What operating system? If Vista (or Windows 7 upgraded from Vista)  then apply the patch available from a link here.  For other operating systems see the Duplex Printing Guide here.

  • Duplex printing upside down !

Hi, For some reason duplex printing to a Xerox Apeosport C5540 has just started printing the second page upside down.
Changing the binding selection (long side or short side) has no affect.
    Anyone have similar experience ?
I recently installed an HP J6480 printer driver - which is the only thing I can think of that has changed recently, other than OS X updates...
    Thanks

What printer are you using? We have a Xerox 252 with a Fiery server and we were having problems getting consistent duplexing. We eventually discovered the setting that we were missing, but it wouldn't do me any good to tell you if you don't have that type of printer. Landscape printing usually requires a top/bottom duplex setting, which can also be called "flip on short edge" or "head to foot." This is set within the printer settings--usually under layout or printer features.
I have noticed with ID CS3 that even landscape pages are sometimes considered portrait when it comes to duplex orientation, so if your pages are still printing upside down, try changing the settings to the opposite (i.e. top/top, flip long edge, or head to head). This is only true in ID, all other apps should orient landscape with the other settings. This was exactly the problem we were having with our Xerox and ID. We could print duplex using the standard landscape settings from Acrobat but from ID, the results were unpredictable. We finally found in the printer settings where we could force the page to be oriented either portrait or landscape and that fixes the problem.

  • Maxify MB5320 How do I make a duplex document flippable ( reverse side upside down)

I have a 40 page docuiment, in landscape mode, that I duplex. The doc. will be placed in a binder and when the reader reads it he/she will flip the pages top to bottom. I wish to print the reverse side of each page  upside-down so the reader will not have to continually turn the binder over. How?

Inovich, because you've already set up your pages to be "two-up" on a landscape page from within FM, in my experience it's highly unlikely that any of the imposition software will be able to process the job, because for all intents and purposes that is  just a single landscape page -- not two pages.
The only way I know that you'll be able to have any sort of correct imposition from software is to redo your file as a single page, in other words where only a single page number appears on each individual page.
The best way to do this is to
make a backup of your current doc, of course
create a brand new FM document, using 8.5x11 pages. This is a single page only. Don't worry about the actual physical page size being bigger than your eventual target of half of a landscape page, because Acrobat or the imposition software can handle that later. Set your document to be double-sided. Set the master page text frames and headers/footers to the correct sizes. SAVE this file as a different filename (e.g. BlankTemplate.fm).
Copy the BlankTemplate.fm to another new filename (e.g. Working.fm)
Open your original FM document. In  Working.fm do File > Copy > Formats and bring in all of the formats EXCEPT the page layouts. Save this file as your new version.
In your new version, leave the pagination as it is, from first page to last page. The imposition software working on the PDF file will "slice and dice" these pages to rearrange them according to the requirements for duplex printing on a different sheet size (landscape).
When you make your PDF you may see differences in how the page size appears, or whether the page appears trimmed down to be 7 x 8.5, depending on what versions of FM and Acrobat you're using and on what options you have in your Distiller setup. The printing company will usually be able to adjust these.
