Duplexing jams

During duplexing  the device "jams" when it retrieves the sheet of paper to print the second side. The error message is to remove the cartridge and remove the sheet. There is no page visible to remove. Powering off and then back on often ejects the sheet with no problem--with the first side printed, but not the second. The physical sheet is pristine--no evidence of a jam. The "jamming" happens all the time.  I am very careful to fully seat the toner cartridge. I have updated the firmware and run the latest software.

You may have to open the Options & Supplies tab within the driver queue to select that the printer has this option installed.
Or you may find that to print duplex, you do not use the layout tab but some other menu within the print dialog. This is certainly the case with the Canon printers.

  • HP Laserjet p3005x - jamming during all duplex print jobs

We have recently aquired a used HP Laserjet p3005x printer that jams under the print cartridge during every duplex print job.  The message in the printer log is Event 13.05.00 "Fuser output - Paper late jam"

A batch file was created to restart the spooling service when this happens, but as stated earlier this is not a permanent fix.

  • Error message "auto duplexer is not installed" after a paper jam was removed on my epson artisan 837.

I print from a Macbook Pro (April '09) OSX 10.9.3 to an Epson Artisan 837 duplex all-in-one which has been functioning perfectly for some time. The other day while duplex printing I got a vague error message to the effect "printer error, turn off machine and power back on." I repeated that process several times waiting a period of time and/or doing it speedily. I even unplugged the printer from its outlet, turned off the computer, waited overnight and tried again, all to no avail. I then found the back tray had a paper jam which I removed and replaced the tray.  Since this ordeal I have NOT been able to use the duplex function. After apple's air-print, an Epson Customer Service person told me to add a printer in Systems, printer preferences and to simply add in the same printer (only one i have) but choose not to have it be air-print. This worked even though it gave me Epson Artisan 837 and Epson Artisan 837II (the first with air-print the second not). I must be missing some step this time, however, because although I now have essentially 2 printer choices, the Epson II has duplex printing choices grayed out and gives me the error message "auto duplexer is not installed." Sorry to make this so long, but can anyone help me with this problem?

Thank you. Those are beautifully written procedures.
Looks like it's a network issue. I reach the step, "Adding a printer using the wizard":
You must enter the following URL, you must use the Queue Name you noted down earlier
    http://<IP address of Mac>:631/printers/Queue Name
    which I do, entering
    http://192.168.0.4:631/printers/MP830
and I get the following error:
"Could not connect to the printer. You either entered a printer name that was incorrect or the specified printer is no longer connected to the server."
    And then I am toast!
Using the other procedure, I simply don't see the Mac's printers in the Bonjour Wizard's "Browse for Bonjour Printers" window.
Not sure where to go from here -- any ideas?
The Mac's IP (set via DHCP) is 192.168.0.4, subnet mask 255.255.255.0. The PC is 192.168.0.5, I can't find the subnet mask.
Pretty sure it's a network config issue, especially isnce I can Bonjour to my other Mac.
    TIA...

  • PAPER JAMMED DURING MANUAL DUPLEX PRINTING

I had a paper jam, now, i only needed to print particular pages (booklet format here) but MS word crashes whenever i attempt to do so.  i only need to print the last half of the booklet, please help.
    Thanks!

    Hi @DYSSE
    I know what I am about to ask may sounds strange, but how many pages is your file? Please take a look at the following post I found in the Microsoft Community Forums;
All of the responses are bogus, I tried them all! I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER! For some stupid reason MS WORD 2010 does not like an ODD NUMBER OF PAGES WHEN PRINTING MANUAL DUPLEX BOOK FOLD DOCUMENTS.
I tried all of the solutions and one day it worked, my document printed!!! I usually only have a 3 page Sunday School Teaching document, front page, and 2 inside pages of a single sheet of paper. I have to print it to a PDF document first to get it to print book fold. This day it was unusally long at 4 pages and it PRINTED WITH NO PROBLEM! I thought a recent MS Update had done the trick. But the next week I again had the printing problem! So I went back to the previous week's document and it printed fine again. Only difference was the number of pages from one week to the next. So I went some of my older documents that had 3 pages, inserted a few carriage returns to make my document 4 pages long and Voila! It works. I thought it would work the same way with 5 pages (bad), 6 pages (good), etc...but that wasn't it. You have to make your document a multiple of 4 pages (booklet page count). So add some carriage returns to your document to make it a multiple of 4, 8, 12,16, 20, etc!
Work around - make your document a multiple of 4 book folded pages.

  • Officejet 6500 duplex printing paper jam

Every time I run duplex printing, paper stucks inside duplexing unit. It just gets smashed.
Is there a solution for that?

I have just bought an OfficeJet 6500 and am also having major problems if I try to use automatic duplex printing. The first side prints ok then waits a while to dry but when it tries to print the second side the printer jams every time. When I remove the duplexing unit the paper is always concertina'ed between the unit and the rollers inside the printer. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be really grateful! This is one of the features I was hoping to make use of.

  • Paper jam issues when duplex printing

i am having a paper jamming issue whenever i attempt duplex printing. As of now my machine is unable to print due to a paper jam. I have removed all the paper within the machine and the error message "carriage jam" is still appearing. Please help

By the way, a carriage jam is different from a paper jam.  A carriage jam indicates the carriage cannot move, or possibly that the sensor that detects the carriage movement has been damaged.

  • On my all-in-one 8500, w/ duplex printing jams, have to manually reinsert paper. Suggestions?

My duplex printing always jams or indicates, "out of paper."  I have to manually reinsert the paper and it will print the back side as normal.  Is there any way to correct this?

  • HP Laser 3700 Paper Jam Duplex Printing

    Hi,
A local charity is using the above printer but now there is a problem with Paper Jam.
Single sded printing works fine but duplex printing causes a paper Jam.
It says tray 2 jam.  The paper gets stuck in the flap above tray 2 and doesn't seem to move any further.
Please help . Is this fixable?  What do I need to check?
    Many Thanks

In the printer settings on you computer, have you selected the right grade of paper? Ensure you select Photo Paper of the right type (matt or gloss) and correct weight/thickness.
EDIT: just noticed that the original post is over 4 years old! However, for anyone stumbling across this with a similar problem, it may be useful (I experienced exactly what the original post describes when I forgot to set the paper type to Photo).
Note: I do not work for HP, I just like playing with calculators :-)

  • HP LaserJet P3015 phantom paper jam?

    Hi,
We just bought two new HP LaserJet P3015 printers in the last month, one works well while the other seems to have a phantom paper jam.  We seem to notice it when someone is printing a longer document, say 10+ pages.  The printers will stop printing, the red light will come on, and the screen will ask to open the top and remove a paper jam.  Once you open the top and close it, and hit OK, it will continue to print.  I have gone through t he machine top and bottom and cannot find a scrap of paper in there.  The other machine that is working well is using the same type of paper, and actually sees a great volume of printing.
We have updated the drives on the computers. Any suggestions?
    Cheers, Paul

Have you upgraded to the latest Firmware? You can find it here:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3815801&...
I didn't notice a specific fix listed for the issue, but it's good to have the latest FW. Also if you have one device that works and one that doesn't, it might be good to see if they have the same FW version. This will be listed on the configuration report.
I also found a reference to a change to the duplexer pan design.

  • HP LaserJet P4515 - error 13.05.00 Fuser Output, Paper Late Jam.

HP LaserJet P4515 - error 13.05.00 Fuser Output, Paper Late Jam.
I have frequent Paper Jam errors of this type during duplex jobs. Simplex jobs seem to work fine unless I try to duplex manually by printing on one side and then the other.
When it jams, I will have one page hitting the sensors after the Pre-transfer roller, usually the next blank page from any given tray, and my duplex page, which has gone through one time and has returned for the backpage, folded in underneath or on top of itself after it passes the tranfer roller but before it hits the Fuser rollers.
Sometimes it wil happen every other duplex page or it may allow 5 to 10 before doing it again.
The fuser has been replaced twice, because I thought maybe the first fuser was defective.
I have run the component tests, sensor tests and they appear to be normal.
I need to know where I need to look next.
Right now I am considering changing the feed guide assembly, since that is where the jamming is taking place.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The feed guide assembly was the culprit.
The main roller connected to the gears was broken, which allowed the smaller gear to come out.

  • HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP Error Paper Jam but there is no Paper Jam

Can someone explain me how to reset my HP Officejet Pro D576DW MFP as it came out of the box?
The printer is repeating a paper jam message near the duplexer, but there is no paper jammed in the machine.

    Hi @AdLive
I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community, as your HP Printer is a commercial model.
My technical expertise is with consumer products and software, I am sure the commercial folks would be happy to help if you re-post your question for them to answer. The HP Enterprise Business Community is an HP Forum designed for the Commercial and Enterprise customers to help one another. I am sure you will find some HP folks there to help too.
Click here to view the Printing and Digital Imaging. When the page opens you will see the option to 'Log in' or 'Register Now' on the right. The commercial forums are separate from the consumer boards, thus you will need to register if you don't already have a commercial account.
You may find the HP Officejet Pro X576dw Multifunction Printer support page helpful while you wait for somebody in the commercial Forum to respond to your inquiry.
    Best of luck.

  • Duplex printing with officejet pro 8000

I am using this officejet pro 8000 to print up some newsletters.  When printing a two sided copy (duplex printing) something happens which changes my border setting.  Printing the exact same document, but electing one-sided copy renders a perfect border.  I would not have a problem copying just one side, then re-loading those in order to make two-sided copies, but the friction caused by the ink on the pages causes mulitple sheets to feed at the same time, jamming the printer.  Has HP ever come up with a fix for this?  I have seen this problem on the net, but the best folks have done (that I have seen) is to upload drivers for older machines.  This has rendered good borders on duplex prints, but diminishes the quality of the print copy.  Whatcha think?

    Terrible Tom wrote:
Since updating to Snow Leopard, I have had serious problems duplexing. Under the print dialogue window, there is no option to duplex. H.P. blames Mac. Mac blames H.P. I can duplex by going to "layout" and where it says "duplexing off" selecting "long-edge binding" will work. How dumb. Mac Help senior customized my settings by adding "duplex printing" to the "Presets" list.
Are you using the latest drivers from HP? If I set up a printer with the HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809 Series PPD, I can see Two-Sided to the right of Collated if the HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer) is checked in the Print & Fax -> Options & Supplies -> Driver tab. If this is not checked, Two-Sided won't appear.
MAC HAS TO CREATE A PATCH TO SIMPLIFY THIS SNOW LEOPARD ERROR!
Apple doesn't write the HP software.
    Hope this helps.

  • Deskjet f2480 - duplex / 2-side printing

    Hello there,
i have been trying to get this HP deskjet F2480 to print double sided but it always prints the odd pages but i cannot get it to print the even pages.
my previous hp had an onscreen and a button prompt for the reverse side printing. this one doesnt.
i have contacted the HP online technical team twice now. the first time the technician insisted that this model doesnt support duplex printing (despite the HP website saying that it does) and the second time i was told that it must be due to a corrupt software. i have therefore uninstalled it, reinstalled, installed all the available patches from HP website and this ....printer is still only printing odd pages! furthermore, the printer gets 'jammed' with the even pages still waiting in the queue to be printed. it is impossible to 'cancel' the printing at this stage and the only solution is to restart my laptop and disconnect from mains the printer....
has anyone had come accross the same issue? what is the solution?
or this printer just symply doesnt support duplex printing???
thank you for all possible advice.
     Regina

    Hi Badly%20Drawn%20Boy,
Please let me know what version of Adobe Reader are you using.
You might try printing any other PDF file with the same settings and check for the same.
    Let me know.

  • Drivers for duplex printing?

does anyone know how to find drivers for duplex printing?

If your printer has the ability to shuffle the pages and print on both sides in one pass, duplexing is in the appropriate Driver for your Printer.
If your printer cannot already do this, you need to do part of it manually, it takes a lot of fiddling, but the key features required are the ability to Print:
    • Odd Pages
    • Even Pages
    • specified pages in reverse order.
Every standard Mac OS X printer Driver supports these already.
Reverse Order is a checkbox on the Layout menu on your "Print" page.
Odd or even or all is an option on the Paper Handling menu in your "Print" page.
For my face-up feeding, face-down delivering Printer, I use a little saying to help me remember:
"First, print to Odd pages evenly  (in normal order) [then shuffle Output to Input for the second side]
Then, print the Even Pages Oddly (in Reverse order) [and if the paper does not jam, fronts and backs will be correct]"
Your procedure will probably be different. I had to draw myself a lot of little diagrams of stacks of paper to figure it all out, and without my little saying, I would have to find that page of drawings (or re-create it from fundamental principles) to be able to print on both sides.

  • Duplex printing on Canon i860

I have a Canon i860 printer which I have had for a couple of years and have loved it. But since I upgraded a little over a year ago from a Lombard PB running OS 9.1.1 to a G4 iBook running OS 10.4 in its various incarnations I have not been able to print duplex copies. When I can get it to show up on the under the printer menu when I attempt to print the job just automatically stops and it will not print. I have tried loading new drivers but nothing seems to help. Any advice?

    Hello James,
I am assuming from your post that you can print simplex (ie single sided) without the printer queue stopping. Is this correct?
Where do you select to do two-sided? Are you making the selection under Layout or is there another choice in the printer menu?
FYI - for the iP6000D I have currently connected to my MacBook there is the option 'Duplex Printing & Margin'. This is part of the Printing Dialog Extensions (PDEs) that get installed with the driver. The driver version that provides this option is v4.15. I know this version is available for the i865 (the i860 wasn't sold in Oz) and you can download it from the Canon Europe web site. Are you using this version and if yes, are you selecting Duplex Print from this extension?
