Duplexing unit for Officejet 6500

I've got hold of an Officejet 6500 to take to university with me next month. I'm thinking that a duplexing unit would be useful but HP UK don't have any and I can't find any online elsewhere (except HP USA, which would be a bit too expensive I reckon). The part number is CB057-67001, anyone know of a place where I might be able to get hold of one?

Hi there,
Could you provide the community with a little more information to help narrow troubleshooting? What operating system is this?

  • DUPLEX PRINTING - HP Officejet 6500 E710a-f PRINTER

My HP Officejet 6500 E710a-f is fitted with a Gadget for Duplex  Printing.
That notwithstanding, the Print Settings do not provide an option for automatic Duplex Printing. The Settings only provide for a "Print One Sided" under which there is a Sub-Option that provides for "Manually Print on Both Sides" with the Intruction "Reload Paper when prompted to print the second side".
Have I perhaps looked for the Duplex Printing Option at the wrong place OR would there perhaps be something wrong with my Printer/Software?
More to the point, do I need to do anything to activate the Duplex Printing capability??

Ensure that the driver knows that a duplex unit is present on the printer (assuming that one is):
For the printer instance in question, bring up the Printer properties dialogue.
    Select the Device settings tab.
Ensure that the duplex unit is set to Installed rather than Not installed.

    HI goj,
Here is a link to a document about using the two-sided printing on your auto-duplex unit.
Make sure you follow all of the steps and this should resolve your issue.

  • Part for officejet 6500

I inherited a used officejet 6500 and need to get a part so the paper will feed properly. Remove duplexer if attached. There are some black plastic "fingers" pointing at a rod with wheels. One set of these "fingers" has broken (the pair on the right). Does anyone know where I can buy these "fingers"? Or do I have to go to a service center? Thanks

The service center or HP should sell them too I would think

    Hi,
Cloud Services as HP ePrint or Print Apps are only available for newer models, such fucctionality is not available as part of the HP Officejet 6500 (E709) Series.

  • Driver for Officejet 6500 E709a needs to be updated. Currently causes distortion of Excel sheets.

Per Microsoft, the driver for the Officejet 6500 E709a needs to be updated in order to resolve a problem which causes distortion of MS Excel worksheets.  http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-excel/excel-2010-scrolling-problem/166a8...
From the forum page linked above:
If the issue occurs in safe mode too, change the default printer and check. If Excel works fine after changing the default printer then contact printer manufacturer to update the printer drivers.

There is always a chance that a glitch has occurred with the original driver install.  Therefore, I always recommend, though it may not be an update, reinstalling the printer and software if necessary.  It has solved a number of different types of problems.

  • Duplex Printing for Officejet 5740

I recently purchased an Officejet All-In-One 5740 printer. I did not realize that automatic duplex was a default and not an option. I can't find a way to change to 1-sided print (there is no selection in Properties). Is there an allowance for 1-sided print for this model printer?

    Hi,
From the application used to print open teh Print dialog, then click on Properties / Settings / Preferences to access the Printing Preferences dialog.
Within the Layout tab set Two-Sided printing as Off, confirm the changes and try printing again.
Additionally from the Control Panel open Devices and Printersm right click the printer icon and select Printing Preferences.

  • Vista/Windows 7 Duplex Patch for Officejet 7210 7310 7410 and Photosmart 2610 2710

Some printer model with automatic duplexers do not properly print the back page in Vista (or in Windows 7 if updated from Vista).   In these models the back side is printed updside down regardless of the driver settings.
The attached zip file has a patch and instructions to correct this issue for the following printers:
    Officejet 7210
    Officejet 7310
    Officejet 7410
    Officejet L7300
    Photosmart 2610
    Photosmart 2710
Patches for other models may be available here.
This patch has been well tested, with over 1800 copies of this patch distributed via email since April 2007.
The zip file has two files
OJ7410.pdf     contains detailed instructions to apply the patch.  Opening this file requires Adobe Reader or a similar pdf viewer, available for free download.
hpo7x00t.gpd  is the actual patch file.
To apply the patch download the zip file attached here.  Extract the files into the %temp% directory, then open the OJ7410.pdf file and follow the instructions.  If you have difficulty finding the %temp% directory you can find this directory by opening your "computer" folder and typing %temp% in the address bar.

  • How can I print black ink only when in automatic two-sided mode for Officejet 6500?

When I set the printer to automatically print on two sides, it only allows color or high quality grayscale as print color options.  If I print on only one side, then I have a third option for black ink only.  Does anyone know how to get black ink only while getting two sided printing automatically?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Sorry, this is not an option.  When printing the front page of a duplexed page the black is underprinted with color to make the print "set" and dry faster.  As a result "black only" is not an option when printing automatically duplexed pages.

  • Remove Software for Officejet 6500

I've just uninstalled my Officject 6500 All-In-One printer and, although I was able to remove the primary software for the printer by going to "Programs & Features" in the control panel, some of the residual software such as "HP Document Manager", HP Solution Centre, etc., remain.  I have tried to uninstall these as well, but, when I click on "Uninstall/Change" Windows Vista requests permission (as usual) and after clicking OK, nothing happens.
Can someone please provide me some advice on how to remove this software completely or advise if there is a removal tool out there that I can download and get this stuff off my machine?
I tried HP Tech Support, but, of course, they wanted to charge me $24.99 for the help.  Yeah right!!
Any assistance anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Cartridge Management For Officejet 6500 Wireless

    Hi There,
I recently called in to tech support to enquire on how to determine more accurately the level of ink remaining in the cartridges. I was told to print a status report that provided me with an estimated ink level. I am concerned that the ink usage may be under the amounts suggested for the XL cartridges. The status report stated that 600 pages have been printed, which may be more or less in line with the the XL cartridges. The magenta cartridge shows the lowest level, followed by yellow, and blue.
Can you please clarify the following:
    1. Once the ink delivery information reports a cartridge to be empty, should it be removed, or left in place?
    2. Can you operate the printer with only a black ink cartridge inserted?
    3. Is it true that when you select to print with black ink only, there is stilll some usage from the color cartridges?
Thank you very much for your help!

1.Ink delivery report is considered acurate. So the  ink is needed to be replaced.
    2.You cannot.
3.For best print quality and to get a solid black color yes it may use color ink.

  • How do I install the Duplexing unit in an HP 7550 in Windows 7?

I have an HP Photosmart 7550 printer with only around 450 pages through it.  I recently purchased a duplexing unit for it, installed it physically, but cannot get the software to recognize it's there.  How should I go about getting this to work?
I should ad that it's configured through a dual port wireless print server, (Trendnet PEW-211G), and is working fine, just I can't activate the duplexer.
    Thanks

Never mind, I figured it out...

  • Is there a way to do manual two sided printing on the Officejet 6500?

I am unable find duplex printing for the 6500. Has this option been removed? Do i have to buy the auto duplexer to do this basic function?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Hi - Unfortunately, it does not support manual duplexing.  I checked the User Guide and it does state that manual duplexing is not supported with the driver.  The only other thing I can think of to try, is if you're using the driver that came with the printer, check and see if there is a driver in the Windows OS (Control Panel, Printers, Add Printer) you're using and install it to see if it provides that option.
    Hope that helps.

  • Officejet 6500 duplex printing paper jam

Every time I run duplex printing, paper stucks inside duplexing unit. It just gets smashed.
Is there a solution for that?

I have just bought an OfficeJet 6500 and am also having major problems if I try to use automatic duplex printing. The first side prints ok then waits a while to dry but when it tries to print the second side the printer jams every time. When I remove the duplexing unit the paper is always concertina'ed between the unit and the rollers inside the printer. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be really grateful! This is one of the features I was hoping to make use of.
