Duplicate account in contacts

After upgrading to OSX Mavericks the contact application shows my iCloud account in duplicate while the internet accounts in settings has only one such account ( as it should be). How to remove that duplicate account from contacts?  (-) doesn't work as it send back to internet accounts. Turning iCloud off then on doesn't work either (did that only once). Any suggestion?

Mr. Churchill,  Please read the question again.  The whole idea of the question was how do you delete duplicate groups in your iphone.  If it was as easy as you mentioned we would not be posting it here.  Maybe some of us are not aware of the delete option or how to go about deleting the groups from the iphone.

  • Duplicate accounts in contacts app?

    Hi,
I have OS X and contacts setup with multiple accounts (LinkedIn, Google Apps corporate, Google Apps private, Facebook). OS X is configured to synchronize the account settings across my devices using iCloud. I upgraded to 10.10.3 and ran into an issue with contacts app starting to prompt me for an account password. I went into Internet accounts system settings and added the password. During that process it also started to ask me for my Google Apps accounts passwords. I guess this was the migration Apple did to some new Google Authentication mechanism.
Anyway, I know have duplicate accounts in Contacts. If I toggle account activation/deactivation in Internet accounts only ONE gets deactivate in Contacts. If I try to remove/delete the other one in Contacts it doesn't let me and prompts me to go to Internet accounts.
Are there any files/settings on disc that I can remove manually to fix/delete the Contacts state? All my contacts are remote so flushing Contacts database is an option.
    Thanks!

I solved it using the following approach:
    Close Contacts App
Go to Internet Accounts and deactivate contacts for all of them
    rm -rf ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/
Go to Internet Accounts and activate contacts for all accounts you want to appear in Contacts App

  • Duplicate accounts in contacts

I am running the GM of Yosemite.  In the Contacts APP under:
    Preferences / Accounts
there are 2 entries labelled "iCloud"
Both point to the same Apple email account.  Both have the same number of entries.  By entry count, having both enabled is the same as having either individually enabled.
I have toggled inactive one of the account entries.  So the net effect is the same as only having one entry for my iCloud account.
My question is why do I have identical entries and is there a way to delete one without losing data?
(my concern is system integrity across repetitive upgrades)
    Thank you

    Hi Shridhar,
    1. Try COM_PARTNER_BADI method DUPLICATE_ADDR_ON_MAINTAIN.
    2. I would guess you would need an ABAP to set the deletion flag on the BP. You could use the same logic as for the code for 1.

  • Duplicate iCloud 'accounts' on contact lists - MacBook Pro

I've been having difficulties first getting my contacts to synch with all devices. So I opened up the 'contacts' application on my MacBook pro, and found a number of iCloud accounts were being recognized on my computer. I have only ever signed in one account, so these appear to be duplicates. However, apart from one of these 'duplicate' accounts that contains a large number of contacts, all other 'duplicates' appear to be empty, and are more like phantom accounts. I've attached a photo of what my sidebar looks like... If anyone has encountered this before, any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks!!

It is possible to use 3 iCloud accounts with notes, but I assume you are not expecting 3 accounts, are they not your accounts.

  • Duplicate accounts in Mail, Contact and Calendar

I found that I have duplicate accounts in Mail, Contacts and Calendar.  When I try to delete them from within those apps, System Preferences - iCloud is launched.  Within iCloud there are no duplicates, so there is nothing to delete.  How do I delete the duplicates in the individual apps?

Well, it looks like you’ll have to do some kind of Reset Sync Data in System Preferences > .Mac > Advanced, e.g. from the .Mac server to the PowerBook, maybe after quitting Mail and moving com.apple.mail.plist out of ~/Library/Preferences/...

  • Address Book, how do I see what account the contact is from?

In OS X Lion, Address Book, I have many names listed 2,3,4 times. Would like to know what account they belong to (Exchange, On my Mac, Mobile Me etc.) so that I can delete the extra ones.
In address book, can I select the contact and see what account the contact belongs to?
    Hope so.
    Thx Much

    Thx Matt,
Not sure you know what I want to do. I have numerous contacts in my address book, some are from my exchange account, some stored on my Mac and some from Mobile Me.
If I see the same name three times is there a way I kno what account each of the duplicate name belongs to.
    Hope I said this right.
    Thx Much
..holding down the "option" key when I click on to a contact does not seem to do anything.

  • Duplicate account. Was told 10x this was solved no...

I have the misfortune of being a BT customer since February.
It took them 2 months to get me connected and then I started to receive 2 bills each month with 2 different phone number and account numbers.
After countless telephone calls with incompetent call center employees I was told that the duplicate account was a mistake on their end. They closed it, I received a VOL number which verified that all the charges would be dropped and that I would receive a confirmation of this within the week.
I have just received a payment request by a debt collection agency for outstanding payment on a terminated account.
    I am beyond furious now.
    1. I'd like someone at BT to contact me.
    2. I'd like to have written confirmation that this will not affect my credit rating at all.
    3. If I receive conformation that all payment charges are void I'd like to discuss compensation for all the time lost contacting BT. Phone call bills and basically frustrating me beyond belief.
If I can't resolve these 3 items I'm considering going to a soliicitor.
How can this happen? How can this escalate to a debt collection agencies while at least 3 people escalated the ticket and confirmed that this was a mistake and duplicate account?
I'm still a BT customer and have a broadband, phone and TV package which is paid monthly by direct debit and there are no outstanding payments on that account. I can verify this with my latest online bill.
    Thanks for your input.

  • Refreshing CRM's Account and Contact list with new data

Hi Folks, I am very new to CRM and was tasked with a new job of refreshing our CRM's account and contact listing.
We get a new list in Excel every now or so from a commercial vendor that compiles list of companies and key contacts and sends it out to subscribers.
I cleaned out this Excel data so there is a:
    1) Contact List
    2) Account List
    3) Contact + Account
that can be directly mapped to fields in CRM.
What I need to do is, make sure none of our existing data is deleted. If there is a matching account (eg. company A) then only the phone no, address, website will be updated. If there is a matching contact again do the same.
If there is no matching account in CRM, then create new account and all corresponding contacts.
Anyone done something similar, can you please suggest the optimal way to go around this? Thank.

    Hi
When you do an import in On demand , you can select the appropriate choice in the Step 1 of your import wizard.
you can select to import the account with the on demand predefined fields where in you can import via account and location.
In case when duplicate is found you can opt for a overwrite of existing records and when no duplicate is found then you can ask for a new record creation.
the same way you can do for contacts.
By this method you can be sure that records are not lost and new records are created if there is no existing record.\
    hope this helps.

  • Re: Contacts - Why are there 3 duplicates of each contact?

As the title says; there are 3 duplicates of each contact in my Contacts app Version 9.0 (1498) w/ OS X 10.10 ( I think this was an issue with Mavericks as well). Also, only the first contact shows 2 "iCloud"'s underneath "cards" info (picture below), whereas the 2 other duplicates do not. No duplicate contacts with synced iPhone iOS 7.1.2.

You should only have 1 iCloud account and there may be the same contact in On My Mac. Go to System Preferences/iCloud and de-select Contacts. Check to see how many you have. Contacts/Preferences/Accounts - disable one iCloud account and delete the On My Mac.

  • Duplicate Accounts in AFP

Anyone else seeing duplicates accounts in the AFP pane of Server Admin since upgrading to Snow Leopard? I will see a network user twice as logged in for some reason.

I solved it using the following approach:

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/

  • ICal duplicate accounts

Since I have upgraded to Lion and switch to iCloud my Calender gives me duplicate accounts. No matter what I have done they return. I sick of it. Can any one tell me how fix this problem? I have tried many things that I have found out on the web but they keep returning.

Ok, hereis what I the steps that I have done.
    1) Signed out of iCloud
    2) Remove all accounts under "Mail, Contacts & Calenders"
    3) Cleared ~/Library/Calenders folder
    4) Went back and checked "Mail, Contacts & Calenders" and sure enough the MobileMe account had popup again.
    5) Went under ~/Library/Cache and removed file that contained iCal - that stop the account from populating temporarily.
    6) Restarted
    7) Went under "Mail, Contacts & Calenders" and only added my iCloud account.
And the race was on, duplicates again.
    8) Created Test account.
    9) Restarted login to Test account
    10) Added my iCloud account under "Mail, Contacts & Calenders"
    11) Opened iCal "No Duplications of Accounts or Events" in Test account. Waited 30mins or so and everything is ok in the Calenders (no duos).
    ==========================
So here is what I did to try and resolve this mystery (right or wrong)
    12) Copy the Calenders folder from the ~/Library folder to the /users/Shared folder
    13) Copy the Cache file from the ~/Library/Cache folder that contains iCal to the /users/Shared folder (note: this is hidden file)
    14) Logout of test account and login back into primary account.
    15) Checked to make sure there are no accounts in "Mail, Contacts & Calenders" and also made sure ~/Library/Calenders was empty.
    16) Copied the folder /users/Calenders to ~/Library and the Cache folder (com.apple.iCal) copy it to ~/Library/Cache. If you do not see the com.apple.iCal folder in /users/Shared it may be hidden.
    17) Restarted once again.
    18) Logged in to my primary account.
    19) Went to System Perferences and made sur I was logged into iCloud.
    20) Opened iCal and waited.... 2hrs later no duplicate accounts or events. Added some test events and it sync the event than started duplicating accounts again. What a pain in the A$$.
    21) back at square one!!!

  • ITunes Duplicate Account

This will take a minute to describe. I tried to activate the "Find My Phone" feature on my wife's new iPhone. That's when I discovered she had two iTunes accounts and two Apple ID's. One was the first part of her email, without the domain, and the other was the complete same email name including domain. <One needs a complete email name to activate the iPhone feature with me.com. When I attempted to edit the original account to include the domain name, I discovered the existence of the second iTunes account.> Researching the on-line Knowledge base, I found a document that said I could consolidate the accounts only over the phone with customer support. Well, there is no phone support for the iTunes Store. I sent an email describing the issue. iTunes support then accidentally cancelled both of my wife's accounts. We had some back and forth. They took several days but eventually restored the original account (so the music library isn't de-authorized). However, somewhere in the process, they also caused my credit card to be banned (?). Apparently by canceling the accounts, they somehow added a negative to my credit card which they now claim is irreversible. Since this is the same card I use in my own account, now neither of our iTunes accounts or Apple ID's are operable. Also, although the duplicate account is now gone, when I try to edit the original account name to include the domain name in my wife's email - so I can at least activate her iPhone feature, I receive an auto-reply that the name is already taken (presumably by the now cancelled duplicate account).
So far, the best iTunes support can tell me is to go to my bank and get a new credit card. I still can't activate the Find My Phone feature, I can't download music or buy apps, there's no one to speak to, and it began when I followed the Knowledge Base and contacted Support.
Oh, by the way, we have 2 iMac's, a MBP, 3 iPhones, Apple TV, Airport Extreme, iPad, a half dozen iPods, and I don't know what old Mac's gathering dust in the attic. Our first Apple was a Mac Plus.
But I'm supposed to go apply for a new credit card to rectify this comedy of errors. Presumably I'll have to also change my wife's email account name too, so I can get that phone feature working.
Any suggestions? Any other path available to me other than email contact with Support, which is frankly, a Fail at this point.
BTW, this is most uncharacteristic of Apple Support.

contact the _*iTunes Store Customer Service*_ and ask the folks there to help you sort it out.
