Duplicate AddressBook Groups

I am running Lion Clients who are logged into domain accounts on a Snow Leopard Server.
Within each users AddressBook, 'groups' are automatically being added, many without any contacts in them.
The groups are consistently named the same "addressbook" and I can have hundreds of them (sample below).
If I delete them, they keep repopulating by themselves.
It is also duplicating the names of actual groups that I have created.
Any help to explain why this is happening would be much appreciated!

This means you are syncing contacts over the air with your MobileMe account on your iPad and syncing contacts direct with the Address Book on your Mac via the iTunes sync process. Doing both is not necessary which duplicates the contacts on your iPad.
To remove the duplicates, under the Info tab for your iPad sync preferences, deselect Sync Contacts followed by selecting Apply.
On your iPad, go to Setting > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Select your MobileMe account.
Turn Contacts off for over the air syncing. A warning message will be provided indicating this will delete the contacts downloaded from and being kept synchronized with your MobileMe online address book along with a prompt to store the contacts locally on your iPad. Decline this prompt.
This will not delete the contacts synced direct with the Address Book on your Mac via the iTunes sync process.
Turn Contacts back on for over the air syncing. You will be provided a merge prompt, which you want to select.
This will get rid of the duplicates.

  • Remove duplicate contact groups

    I have hundreds of duplicate contact groups in my icloud contacts and on my macbook pro. I cannot find help with this.  I am using Mavericks.

    I found a solutiuon that worked for me from a different thread posted below.  The only thing I did differently was I moved the whole directory /AddressBook to my desktop.  When I launched Contacts after that, I saw that OS X created a new AddressBook directory.  I then went to iCloud and switched Contacts back on and boom I had all my updated contacts from iCloud WITHOUT duplicate groups!
    Back up all data.
    Quit Contacts or Address Book if it’s running. If you use iCloud, uncheck the box marked Contacts in the iCloud  preference pane.
    Triple-click the text on the line below to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):
    ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Metadata
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V), and press return.
    A Finder window will open with a folder selected. Move the selected folder to the Desktop, leaving the window open for now.
    Relaunch the application and test. If there’s no improvement, quit and put back the item you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, delete the item.

  • How do I duplicate layers & groups without automatically adding a "copy", "copy 1", "copy #" at the end of the new group?

    How do I duplicate layers & groups without automatically adding a "copy", "copy 1", "copy #" at the end of the new group?
    It's been pestering me for quite a while now, since I often work with the same elements over and over again. Its frustrating to have to change the name of each layer manually, especially if I'm copying a whole group.
    Is there a setting in Photoshop or perhaps an external script that can help fix this for me?
    Cheers,
    Qiming

    There is no way to defeat this within the program itself. Here's the workaround:
    Duplicate the file (from the Image menu).
    Drag the Group or layers from the Layers list from the duplicate to the image window of the original , while holding down Shift.
    That will make a "copyless" copy and reposition the copyed material in the exact same position it was on the original.

  • AddressBook groups lost after migration to iCloud

    Hey everyone, just to share the solution with you.
    If bought my wife an iPad2 2 weeks ago and in order to allow for a smooth transition I upgraded her MacBook a week earlier to Mac OS X Lion and set up her iCloud account, i.e. I migrated her Mobile Me account to iCloud.
    However, during the migration (Mac MobileMe > iCloud) her AddressBook lost all Groups (I checked this with the corresponding date of out Time Capsule backup). Any attempt to restore the backup and sync the contacts again does not restore the groups. After some reading on the Apple Support Communities and on other sides here's the solution.
    Note: I assume you use Time Capsule and your backup is properly working.
    1. In case you've changed/added addresses create a back-up of all contacts:
        - On the Mac user AddressBook make sure you have "All Contacts" selected, then click on one contact ans select all by CMD-A
        - export all contacts by FILE > EXPORT ... > EXPORT vCard ... and save the file on your Mac (don't worry about duplication - we merge the contacts later)
    2. Now switch of iCloud sync for Contacts on all devices
        - Mac: Open System Preferences > iCloud > untag Contacts and delete data on your Mac
        - iOS 5 devices: System Preferences (Settings) > iCloud > Contacts OFF and delete data on your iOS 5 device
        - Rem: you have to do this on all devices you sync with your iCloud account
    3. Open your account on www.icloud.com and delete all contacts
    NOW all should be clean!
    4. Do a full restore of the AddressBook data from your Time Capsule backup. In order to to this you need to open the Library folder of your account on the Mac. Since the advent of Mac OS X Lion this folder is hidden. However you can easily open it by CMD-Shift-G and type in "~/Library/". Then go to the folder "Application Support" and leave the "AddressBook" folder selected (blue background).
    5. Open Time Capsule and go back to the date when the AddressBook still contained all groups. Then restore the entire folder "AddressBook". Time Capsule will ask you if the existing folder should be "Replace"d. Confirm "Replace" and your AddressBook is (Tip: If you do not know the date, Leave AddressBook' group view active and open TimeCapsule and while moving back in time you'll see the groups re-appear at the appropriate date).
    6. Now import the earlier vCard backup into Address Book (in case you've added, changed contacts)
    NOW your Mac AddressBook should be up to date, including Groups.
    7. Connect one of your iOS5 devices via USB cable to your Mac and open iTunes.  Click on the name of your device under DEVICES.
    8. Click on "Info" on the top row menu in iTunes. Tag the option "Sync Address Book Contacts" and press the button "Sync".
    9. After the Sync eject the iOS 5 device from your Mac
    Now your iOS 5 device is updated with all contacts and groups. (check if you want)
    10. on your iOS 5 device open SETTINGS > MAIL, CONTACTS, CALENDAR and choose "iCloud". Switch Contacts ON.
    11. Check your iCloud account on www.icloud.com if all contacts and groups are properly restored.
    Now your iCloud is updated and we can execute the final step.
    12. On your Mac: Open System Preferences > iCloud and switch Contacts ON and/or tag Contacts.
    13. In your Mac AddressBook> Check (this may take some minutes) if all contacts and groups are properly sync'ed.
    DONE!

    A: No. If you want access to iDisk.
    I assumed everything switched over to iCloud. So what happens to iDisk when MobileMe is finally no more in June?
    When Mobile Me ends on 6/30/2012 iDisk will cease to exist.

  • 6 iCloud duplicate contacts groups

    I’ve disconnected from iCloud, it has never worked for me. Now iCloud had duplicated itself numerous times in addition to duplicating groups within each iCloud group:
    Howcan I fix this easily and remove the duplicate iCloud groups? I tried using the duplicate removal tool but only got “The operation has failed” dialog.
    I guess from now on it is iTunes syncing over USB. This started when I tried unsuccessfully to log into iClod from an external disk plugged into my Mac. It just seems like iCloud is nothing but a headache.

    In addition, I tried to move this message to a better page but all I got was this error:
    The usability of this website has really taken a dive in the last few years.

  • I need to flip, move and duplicate a group in InDesign CS4 JS

    Hi,
    I need fo flip, move and duplicate grouped objects in InDesign. So far I have those lines from OMV:
    var myGroup2 = myGroup.duplicate ([".0625 in", myPageHeight/2]);
    myGroup.flip (Flip.HORIZONTAL, AnchorPoint.CENTER_ANCHOR);
    or
    myGroup.flipItem (Flip.HORIZONTAL, AnchorPoint.CENTER_ANCHOR);
    myGroup.move ([".0625 in", myPageHeight/2]);
    Those lines work for single object, and what I see in OMV, it should be the same for a group(?), but they don't work.
    Your help is highly appreciated.
    Yulia.

    I got it. The lines are correct, mistake was before the lines - in the group definition. Here what I got and it's working:
    var myArray = new Array;
    //Add the items to the array.
    myArray.push(myWhiteLine);
    myArray.push(myGreenLine);
    //Group the items.
    var myPage = app.activeDocument.pages [0];
    myLineGroup = myPage.groups.add(myArray);
    var myLineGroup2 = myLineGroup.duplicate ();
    myLineGroup2.flipItem(Flip.VERTICAL, AnchorPoint.TOP_RIGHT_ANCHOR);
    Thank you.

  • Duplicate BBM Group Calaendar Entries in BB10 Claendar

    In the BB10 calendar app I now have 3 duplicate calendars listed for each of my BBM Groups.  If I add an entry to the BBM group calendar in BBM it shows up 3 times in the BB10 calendar.  There doesn't seem to be any way to delete the extra calendars from the calendar settings.  All I can do is uncheck some of the duplicates in the manage calendars settings but this doesn't seem to do much.  Anyone know how to delete the extra calendars?

    Exactly the same issue with both my Z10 and Q10 - multiple calendars for the same group - each with a different color. Also when I switch from the Q10 to the Z10 the calendar does not show the appointments from the Q10

  • Deleting Duplicate Contact Group

    So... I sync'd my contacts "from my mac" while I was already syncing with MobileMe, and now I have duplicates of all my contacts, and as such I would like to delete the "All from My Mac" group.
    In searching for a solution, I found various older posts all of which basically said that you cannot delete an entire contact group on an iPhone. But as the most recent post I found was 6 months old, I am wondering if anybody out there has any new insight they can provide to solve this mildly annoying situation?
    Lance.

    To get rid of the duplicate contacts caused by syncing with both MobileMe and your computer:
    1. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > MobileMe account > Contacts > "OFF"
    2. You will be asked what you want to do with previously synced contacts - select "Delete from my iPhone".
    3. Connect your phone to iTunes, go to device page, info tab and disable sync contacts.
    4. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > MobileMe acct > Contacts > "ON"
    5. You will then get message: "There are existing contacts synced with your Mac. Would you like to merge them with your MobileMe account?" Choose "Do not merge."
    6. You will then be asked: "What would you like to do with the existing contacts on your iPhone?" Choose "Delete."
    7. In a couple of minutes your phone will sync back your contacts from MobliMe, without the duplicate copy from your computer.
    If you also have duplicate Calendar entries, do the same process with calendars - can be done at the same time.

  • Deleting duplicate contact groups

    My iPhone has two contact groups of the same name. One of the duplicate group's is empty. One has appropriate contacts. My computer's address book does not have the same duplication. Yet, when I sync through iTunes the duplicate group still remains on the iPhone. How do I remove this duplication?

  • Addressbook groups keep disappearing

    I've got all of my contacts setup in the Apple Address Book and have created a grouping of smart folders to identify specific sets that are labeled in the notes field. The smart folders do a good job of keeping the contacts together in an organized fashion, but then of course they don't show up as groups when synching w/ the iPhone. So I have to create static groups.
    I'm synchronizing w/ MobileMe so the contacts will go up to the cloud, but every so often I will loose all of the static groups in the Address Book. Fortunately they are pretty easy to re-create, but it's sure a pain to do this on an ongoing basis. Usually about the time I see the problem is when I'm on my phone and trying to use the groups.
    Has anyone seen this behavior at all?

    the only things that can cause this are corrupt sync data and possibly corrupt AB database. quit AB and try resetting the whole sync folder http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1716
    then delete the file homedirectory/library/application support/address book/AddressBook-v22.abcddb. then start Address Book and see how it behaves.

  • Duplicate Page Group

    Hello,
    i want to duplicate my page group on the same repository, my oracle portal version is 10.1.4.
    is this doable or not and if so please tell me how?

    It is not possible, you will need to create a new page group.
    If you have plsql knowledge then you can use api to create pages and itens, it would be like copying it.
