Duplicate albums, one on machine, one in cloud???

OK, just installed iTunes 11. Now, I am seeing several of my albums (whether it is the full album or just a song from that album) showing up twice. One of them will have a little cloud in the upper right corner of the album art and the other will not. Some of these 'duplicates' will be identical with respect to all of the information (ie. title) and some will have some slight difference like quote symbols in the name or say 'unknown album' where the other one has the correct album name.
Anyone else seeing this? Any idea why I am seeing these duplicates with iTunes 11 and how I can fix it?
I'm running the latest Mountain Lion and do not have iTunes Match.
Regards,
John

I may be onto something. Based on mende1's suggestion that one of the duplicates was from a "non-iTunes" purchase and the "cloud" one was from iTunes, I did some further investigating.
It turns out that NONE of the albums that show duplicates are ones that I physically own on CD, ripped from a cd, or purchased else where.
However, here is what else I have found. On all of the songs contained in the "cloud" version of the dulicated items, when I do a "Get Info" on the songs, the "Kind" says "Purchased AAC Audio File".
However, when I do a Get Info on the "non-cloud" duplicated items (the ones actually on my computer) they say that they are "Protected AAC Audio Files".
So it appears to be related to the fact that when I first downloaded these, Apple was still selling copy protected versions. Now that the songs are no longer copy protected, iTunes does not appear to realize that they are the same songs.
It also appears that Apple has changed/updated certain bits of information on some of the albums. As an example, one of the pairs of duplicated albums that I have is "Elephunk" by the Black Eyed Peas. On the old, copy-protected version, the metadata lists the artist as "Black Eyed Peas", however on the 'cloud' version, the artist is listed as "The Black Eyed Peas" (they have now added "The" to the artist name). So, I have two folders in my iTunes library, one for "Black Eyed Peas" and one for "The Black Eyed Peas", both of them containing the same song.
So, it looks like I can click on the 'cloud' versions, download the non-copy protected files and then delete the old versions.
I will probably do this so that I have the "latest" album information, which should help find duplicates, when they add that functionality back, and convert over to the non-protected versions.

  • Will Match remove duplicate songs and duplicate albums and make them into one?

I have a ton of songs and albums that are like that. Some albums have differnet artwork too. Will match compare these to itunes and make them all unified?

The only exception is that If it finds an *exact* duplicate (tags and all), it will not upload it; however, it will still leave both copies in your original library (one will have a little cloud with a line through it next to it).

I have duplicate albums but no duplicate songs.  One song showing in one album, the rest of the showing in a duplicate album.  Album, artist, genre all identical.  how can I get these albums to merge together into one album?

Change the album title to AlbumX, apply, then change back to Album. Repeat as necessary.

  • Duplicates.  I use iTunes match.  When I run exact duplicates, I get duplicates that say uploaded for one and uploaded with a cloud for the other.  Which one do I delete?

Duplicates.  I use iTunes match.  Two questions:
When I run exact duplicates on the library on my Mac Air, I get duplicates that say uploaded for one and uploaded with a cloud for the other.  Which one do I delete?
Some of the duplicates say matched and matched with a cloud.  Same question - which one should I delete?

I'm not sure I understand the question.
First I would update your iTunes match.  iTunes match will tell you what is duplicates and then you can just delete them from the library.
Second, the course in a situation like this is to delete ONE duplicate and see what happens.  Make sure you have that song backed up somewhere just incase it deletes it completely.  But usually I'd delete one and then see if it deletes both or just the one you pressed.
Thirdly, update iTunes match.  It usually does a good job of locating actual duplicates.

Depending upon what country that you are in you might be able to try 'redownloading' it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes. If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that album and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • I have two (paid) copies of lightroom 5 from your photography promotion installed (on two different machines). I would like to deactivate one copy on one desktop so I can install a copy on my laptop. How do I go about this?

I have two (paid) copies of lightroom 5 from your photography promotion installed (on two different machines). I would like to deactivate one copy on one desktop so I can install a copy on my laptop. How do I go about this?

While the standalone version of LR has no deactivation, the Photography Program which is LR + PS-CC bundled and licensed through the Cloud will have a 2-activation limit per Adobe ID, and you cannot decouple the LR from the PS-CC in the Photographers Bundle.
You can license the cloud on up to two computers per AdobeID by signing into the cloud.  When you try to sign in on a third computer you have the option to deactivate the other two copies, which you can do, and then never sign into the cloud on the one computer you don’t want activated and you’ll be fine.

  • How to view albums in grid in one genre?

Is it possible to find a way to view all of your albums in one genre in "grid" view, so that you can see a bunch of albums all within that genre at once? I like the beginning of "grid" view, but once you click on a genre, it changes to a type of list view. The 'rollover' effect when you mouse over one genre is good, but it does not seem to be in a specific order, and then it shows only a few albums (for example about 4 or 5 different out of 148 that exist in that one genre).
Is there a way to see all those albums in that one genre - their cover/artwork - in "grid"? Essentially, I think I'm looking for a view like "icon" view in the Finder, where I'm seeing all the different icons of my albums within one 'folder' of one genre. Can it be done, and if so, how?
    Thanks.

Type in the name of the Genre in the search box. All albums containing that text, anywhere, will be displayed. While this may still display the odd track from different genres which use the same words in most cases it should narrow things down significantly.

  • Delete multiple duplicates at once without selecting one at a time...

I know that you can view duplicates and then select songs one at a time to delete. Because show duplicates shows both the duplicate file and the original you need to select one duplicate and skip one for the original file for each duplicate song. The problem is I have 18000 songs so going through the duplicates one at a time like this will take way too long. How can I delete all of these duplicates without clicking on all of them one at a time?

You can select multiple items using shift to select a range and control to add or remove items from it.
Regarding duplciates, Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group of identical tracks to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. This can happen, for example, if you start iTunes with a disconnected external drive, then connect it, reimport from your media folder, then restart iTunes.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping, whether you do so by hand or using my script, in case something goes wrong.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)

  • How to install more than one instances on one machine

    Hi ALL,
I want to install more than one instances on one machine, but i am a freshman on SAP field. How and where can i get the related infomation for that? thank you very much !!

    Hi tieyan,
Glad the information was of some help.
For Windows, there is an older note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/28392">28392</a> that has some more information. It is important also that the SAP parameter PHYS_MEMSIZE is sized correctly according to note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/88416">88416</a> (the bottom of the note gives some examples). For example, if there were two central instances and the two Oracle database instances on one host, PHYS_MEMSIZE for both instance profiles (of the central instances) would be 35% of the RAM (1/2 of 70%). In the case of MSSQLSRV 2000, for PHYS_MEMSIZE you would refer to the scenarios of note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/327494">327494</a>.
If you ever want to thank somebody else for helping in answering a question, the <a href="https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/HOME/RulesofEngagement">Rules of Engagement</a> has a section 'Thank Others by Giving Points' that explains this further.

Yes there is. Those songs are not actually on your iPad. They are in iCloud ready for download if you choose to do so. If you want to remove them go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Show All>Music>Off. You can also do this in Settings>Music>Show All Music>Off.

  • Why can't we delete albums or create new ones?

I really like the new iPhoto app for the iPhone 4s. Cool features and good layout, however, it would be helpful if we are able to create photo albums and/or delete ones that are already existing. Is there a tutorial page that can help me navigate through different options or is this just something that's missing?

I feel like no point I m purchasing this app, I might as well do all the editing work in my Mac. Gosh... So disappointed purchasing this app.
