Duplicate and Paste

I am making a newsletter and have created two different single page documents using Pages '08. I've got them both the way I want them. Now I want to copy the second document and make it page 2 of the first document. I have tried using "Select All" then copying and pasting. It pastes all the material, but loses formatting and spreads the information over 4 different pages.
Does anyone know a better way for me to move all of the formatted material from one document to another? Can I do it from a .pdf format? Any hints? Thanks.

Open your files & show thumbnails. Sections have a yellow border around all of the pages in that section. Now click on the page in the thumbnail pane & copy. If the file is more than one page & you only want one, you'll need to insert a section break to separate the pages. Then go to your other file, click in the thumbnail pane & paste. The whole copied page will be pasted in.

Cs5 / duplicate and paste in place ?

sorry if this is a stupid question but I haven´t found a solution yet and before I go crazy I ask you
So, in cs3 (which I used before I bought cs5) I was able to duplicate an object into a new position. Does that make sense? mmh, so ie if I had an object and I dragged it while pressing alt and kept on duplicating it used the same new position to copy it to. (very handy if you have 20 lines with the same distance, so all I did was drag + alt and then duplicate them as often as I needed to.)
Is there any way to do that in cs5? Only way I found was use move it and then press cms+shift+m for move and then use the copy button. But this is very annoying since I have to open the move menu for every single copy action...
Sorry, this is a quite confused desctription of the problem, I´m not sure how to explain it in a better way..

CS5 should work no differently than CS3. Option/Alt drag to make a copy, then Command/Control D to step and repeat. Check your Keyboard Shortcuts (Edit Menu) to make sure that the shortcut wasn’t changed. If you deselect the copied object after copying once but before pressing Command/Control D then you break Illustrator’s concentration and it does not know what transformation you are duplicating.
The Transform Again command is pretty versatile; it repeats the last transformation, which includes any duplication, rotation, move, or scaling.
I only drew one circle, the rest are Option-transformations using the move, scale, and rotate tools.

The same cuts that I have in this clip that i performed with the blade tool, I want to duplicate, copye, paste and apply to another clip. I want the cuts to mimic and be an exact same. I wish i could highlight the clip, click copy and then highlight the other clip and then click paste and the cuts apply.

Do not duplicate the graphic style when you copy and paste a feature

I rely heavily on the use of graphic styles. However, when I copy and paste a feature that has a graphic style assigned to it, a duplicate of the graphic style is created. I sometimes end up with a large number of these duplicate graphic styles that I have to trash. This does not happen with the selection tool+alt shortcut for copying. However, I can't use this shortcut when I want to paste in front or paste in back, which is the case at least half the time.

Only advice I can offer is Option Left cursor, then right cursor, to make an exact copy in same position.
This will give you a clone as the action does form the previosu poster, but unfortunately no oslution for when you want to target layers.
If anyone else has any input on this here is how to reproduc:
New document, create a graphic style (eg: fill yellow, stroke none) and save
Close the document
Open the document
copy and paste the element with the graphic style, and with every paste multiplies faster than a tribble on Star Trek
I played with changing the clipboard options, no luck. Exists on CS4 Mac, CS5 Mac & PC, might go back as far as graphic styles do.

Like the title says, I want to copy and paste a clip so that it can be duplicated in the timeline.

Now, when one has added and adjusted Effects on a Clip, they can Copy those Effects & Attributes, then Paste those to other Clips, either individually, or to many, by Selecting all, where that/those Effect(s), and Adjustments are desired. That is a somewhat similar operation, but does not Copy the Clip - just the Effects and Adjustments made to it.

How to create a button that Copies subform data and paste it to a new page?

Hi , I'm want to create a button that when clicked copys all the data from the feilds of a subform off the previous page and paste it into current page.
I have used Steve's "Simple table.pdf example" to add a subform called DecorationDetail that has a button that adds an instance when clicked.
Contained in the decorationdetail subform are feilds named Quantity, Description,UnitPrice etc. and a delete instance button.
So when the first page is filled out, and a second page with blank duplicate feilds is added by a add page button. I want to be able to click a button
positioned at the end of the row of feilds, and it then copies the same subform data from the previous coresponding page and pastes it into the current page subform feilds.
Hope this make sense?. A step by step guide would be greatly appreciated!!!.

Problem with copying and pasting text blocks in Fireworks CS5

Until recently when I copied and pasted a text block in Fireworks CS5, the block would retain all formatting applied to the copied text block, font, size, color, etc. Now, the pasted block reverts to some default setting. Oddly, if I copy multiple text blocks, the formatting is retained as expected, but not if I copy a single text block. I cannot find a preference that affects this, and I cannot figure out what might have changed. The current behaviour is definitely not desired, and is dramatically affecting my efficiency. Anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas how to correct this? Thanks.

Sure, thanks for replying so quickly. My workflow is simple. My problem is limited to copying and pasting within Fireworks. I typically select an entire block with the main selection arrow but I sometimes use this one too depending on the context. I usually just use the keyboard CTRL-C then CTRL-V to paste. Previously (and I have been using FW for years, it's always been the same) it would paste an identical text block directly over the top of the copied one, and it looked exactly the same, same font, same color, etc. Now, it pastes a new block in the center of the document and all the formatting has reverted to what I guess is the default, in this case Myriad Pro 12pt. The behavior is the same no matter which arrow I use to select the text block. I tried Edit>Copy and Edit>Paste, the effect was the same. The Duplicate function seems to work as desired, but I had never noticed or tried that command before reading your post. Using the keyboard to copy/paste is such an ingrained habit I'd much prefer to continue using it as I always have instead of trying to retrain myself. (I'm old, retraining is hard!)

Most often I copy and paste directly on the canvas, but occasionally will do it within the layers panel. Both now have the same undesired effect. I also tried creating a new document to see if it was a corruption in my current file, but the issue persisted to the new document as well.

How to copy and paste the same answer choices multiple times

I am making testing forms and each question has the same multiple choice answer selection. I have been having to type each one of them individually instead of being able to duplicate it for each question. How can I do what in Word would just be a "copy and paste" function?

So you want the user/person to do the "cut&paste" action (ie. ctrlc ctrlv) and have the data paste itself across rows correctly much like Excel does. I don't think this "intelligence" is built into Adobe table controls as it is in Excel (and Excel is smart enough to even handle it different ways depending on how the user selects cells).
The only thing I can think of is that you could "capture" the user trying to paste into a cell/row in your table (maybe in the onFocus or onClick events), then grab the data, parse it out (but looking for some character) and then have your code distribute the data across the rows. However, I personally think that would be a lot of overkill and prone to other issues and errors.

How do I copy and paste a shape (or layer) from one file to another keeping all of its attributes?

Our department currently uses MS Paint to place varied colored boxes for callouts on top of screen figures used in our documentation. As you know, MS Paint is not a robust image editing application, and we are frustrated at its limitations (especially not having a "non-destructive" edit capability). Consequently, we are evaluating a trial version of PS to see how a workflow could be developed that would allow the department to use callout boxes "stored" in a PS file that could be applied in an easy, consistent manner to our screen figures (but also keep each callout box editable) using PS.
Consequently, in PS using the shape tool, I created a file with our colored boxes for callouts, each on its own layer. Now I am trying to determine how you copy and paste a box (or layer) from this file to a "working" file (one containing a screen figure), while keeping all of its attributes (color, line weight, being editable, etc.). I can't seem to find an option to do this. Is there? If not, is there another workflow in PS that you can recommend for this type of procedure?

Trying to copy and paste objects in keynote 6 I only get a hyperlink when pasting. Anyone else having the same problem? is there anywhere I can change it so that the copied object is pasted directly into the new slide?

there are some unexpected issues when copy and pasting.
As a workaround, use duplicate slide to get the same object in another slide, (select the slide in navigator and command D or right click > duplicate)

My lap top wont import pictures from auto play. it keeps saying there is a file error and a device connected to the computer isnt working properly. i have tried going into the internal storage to copy and paste the pictures but this wont work either.

I have decided to dedicate this thread to the wonderful errors of Lion OSX. Each time I find a huge problem with Lion I will make note of it here.
Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.

I had the same error and reported it to Oracle. They requested an XER copy and I am waiting for thier response. This problem is for that particular project only. To work around it do the following:
Create a new project, open both projects, go to wbs view, copy all wbs's from the correpted project to the new project. The new project will work fine and get rid of the correpted one.

How the heck to I copy and paste keyframes (scaling, rotation, etc.) in motion 5?

Trying to figure out how to copy keyframes from one object to another obejct in Motion 5, and I'm left screaming pulling my hair out.
It USED to be so easy... where is the paste attributes option here?
Or can I duplicate the object and relink it to another object? Going crazy here. Any help would be great.

There are several ways to copy and paste keyframes:
1. Select the "source object" and go to the animated parameter in the Inspector (position for example).
2. Click and drag the parameter name you want to copy to the destination layer in the layer list via drag and drop. The values (including keyframes) will be copied to the appropriate channels.
OR
1. Select the source object.
2. For each channel that is animated (position, rotation, scale) go to the far right side of the parameter in the Inspector and select "Show in keyframe editor."
3. Select all the keyframes you want (I use a simple click and drag to create a box an select all of the keyframes) and then copy (command-c).
4. Now select the destination layer, position the playhead where you want the keyframes to start from and paste (command-v).

If you just need to match the animation of another layer (Position, Rotation, Scale) try using the Match Move behavior.

Mavericks (inc. latest update today) - Apple Calendar - Google calendar & phone (HTC One SV) - duplicates and disappearances...

Hi.
Since upgrading to Mavericks (inc. latest update today), a perfectly harmonious environment of Entourage > Apple Calendar > Gmail > Android phone has fallen apart. I understand that this is down to Apple removing local sync services in the Mavericks 'upgrade', so I am now manually 'syncing' Entourage calendar events to Apple Calendar (Version 7.0 (1835.1)) by copying/dragging them across teh Calendar and syncing to Android via Gmail account.
Now, events in Apple Calendar are being duplicated - even if I create them in Apple Calendar.
And, when I delete one of the duplicated entries in Apple Calendar, both disappear from Google calendar and Android phone - and then the other in Apple Calendar.
This does not happen with all events, but I cannot figure out:
a) why duplicates are appearing and disappearing for some events, or;
b) what differs between the events that duplicate and those that do not.
Also 'in the mix', is a couple of third party apps that I think i should mention:
1. SyncMate - which I used successfully to sync my Android and iMac 2yrs and decided to uninstall post-Mavericks 'upgrade', and;
2. BusyCal, which I installed to trial as a fix post Mavericks 'upgrade' and uninstalled.
Both thrid party apps refuse to compeltely uninstall. I have gone through forums and trawled through Libraries to manuallly remove all residue of these apps, but they still pop up and prompt from time to time.
I mention the last bit regarding SyncMate and BusyCal, in case their residues are the cause of the Calendar duplications issue originally posted.
Can anyone please shed some light on a fix to both problems? I am dirty as all **** on Apple for the undocumented changes in the Mavericks 'upgrade' and am very close to going back to Windows (my iMac is an Intel model).

Something I tested earlier that had an intersting outcome..... I created two test events; one in 'iCal' and one in Google Calendar. The latter quickly sync'd and created duplicate entries in 'iCal', but kep tto singel instacnes in Google and Android. The event created in 'iCal' did not duplicate and sync'd properly a single instance to both Googe Calendar and my Android. Neither tests created duplicates on the Android phone.

Copy and Paste?

A co-worker of mine is using Adobe Acrobat Professional 7, and he has merged two pdfs together to make one. When does a select all/copy on the second page, and pastes the second page on the first page; the clipboard contents is all pasted in a small yellow-filled box with a black border around it.
My coworker expected it to be pasted just as it was copied on the previous page. He says he remembers doing the same thing before but that there was another complicated step he needed to do to get it to paste exactly the same. Something involving clicking and dragging...

Are you trying to duplicate the page or just copy some content? If you want to duplicate the page you can use the Page navigation page. To do this select the page you want to duplicate, press ctrl and drag the page to the location where you want it copied.
