Duplicate and quadruple of some songs after download
I just picked up a new laptop and just downloaded most of my music. Some how I have double and sometimes quadruple of almost every song. Is there an easy way to get rid of the extras prior to downloading to my new Nano?
Have a look at Teridon's iTunes Scripts, Robert has a script in there for dealing with duplicates which might be of some help: Teridon's iTunes for Windows Scripts
Just note: The duplicate eliminator in Robert's scripts package only works for these two kinds of duplicates:
1) Multiple copies of the exact same file (e.g. "Song.mp3" and "Song 1.mp3", where "Song 1.mp3" is simply a copy of Song.mp3
2) Multiple entries in the iTunes Library for the exact same file.
The script does nothing for duplicates that are the same song, but different files (e.g. encoded by someone else, has different artwork or other tags, etc.)
There are also some third party programs out there, like "Dupe Eliminator" that might help in more complicated cases. If you do a quick web search I'm sure you'll find more: Dupe Eliminator

In response to your question:
Go to your prefrence pane and select "Automatically play songs after download" and then close itunes and restart just to make sure it went through.
I can't seem to find it (and it won't happen).

iTunes Match is having errors d/l songs to my iPhone 4s. Then I can't delete them, and it says some songs are playing when they aren't. I've restored my iPhone, same issue.
According to this article Using iPhone on an airplane you should be able to listen to music with Airplay Mode enabled.
Make sure you have Music switched on in Settings > Store or your music won't download via Wi-Fi. -
Why do some songs re-download from iCloud in 256 Variable?
Some songs will download from iCloud in 256-bit, others in 256 Variable. Why that? All were uploaded/matched from Apple Lossless (ALAC).
I don't know this for sure, since I have not seen this behavior, but this is my speculation.
Songs that are matched will download from the iTunes Store in straight 256 Kbps, since that is how they are encoded. The VBR downloads are probably coming from tracks that are uploaded, and this is how you've got your import settings set up. Any ALAC files that are not matched will have a copy made of them and that will be uploaded so I'm guessing that whatever your import settings are is how the files will be encoded. -
cant play the hole song after downloading it from itunes
Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

I purchased a soundtrack on iTunes (Windows 7) and five of the songs that downloaded get cut off before they finish playing...any idea how to get it fixed?
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items. -

How old is the Ipod? (if it is still under warranty, then send it to Apple service shop)
Are you running Windows iTunes or Mac iTunes?
What do you see on the iPod screen?
My guess is, your iPod classic is more than 2 years old and out of warranty, and the hardisk has gone kaput! and need to be replaced.

I downloaded an album and all of the tracks will play about 3/4 of the song then stop and play the next song. I went to itunes store and it said the songs fully downloaded. So how do I get the full song into my library?
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

IPod Nano (2nd generation) stops playing some songs after 30-60 seconds
I purchased a 2nd generation 2 GB iPod Nano last week (03/13/07) and experienced problem with some songs stopping after 30-60 seconds and then skipping to the next song.
The songs in question were downloaded in Mp3 format from a CD and they play fine and in their entirity from the iTunes library.
I tried the 5Rs but with no success. Thinking the iPod Nano was defective, I exchanged it today (03/16/07) however, the same problem persists and with the same songs.
I tried compressing the songs but that made matters worse, i.e., the play duration shortened and/or the songs didn't play at all.
Is this an iPod Nano issue or a problem with certain songs? Given that the identical problem exists with two brand new units, I suspect the latter but I don't know what to do.
The songs are not "read only" or "origin-protected".
Appreciate any assist.
Thanks.
Dell PC Windows XP
Dell PC Windows XPI've experienced the same problem with some songs that will start playing for few seconds but then skip to the next song. This is with songs I've ripped from CDs and transferred from an old computer. I've tried the 5 R's, repeatedly. It does not help. Is there anyway to fix this other than deleting the songs from my computer and re-downloading from CD's? I've got over 1,800 songs on my iPod and really don't want to go through each one to figure out which I need to reload.

Why itunes leaves some songs in download directory?
I have a problem when downloading records from itunes store. Some songs remains in downloads directory and files are named as download.m4a. Most songs are copied in right directory (named .../artist/record/) and files are named as name of song. This has happened with 13 songs and it is happened randomly.
Have you ever rescued your media from an iPod. The number of F## folders is probably related to the size of the device. My 160Gb iPod ran from F00-F49 but I think my wife's nano might have F00-F13. Is the option under Edit > Preferences > Advanced to Keep iTunes Media folder organized enabled? Turning this option off, and then back on again should force iTunes to reorganize any files that in the wrong place.
Unknown Album and Unknown Artist are used when the corresponding fields are blank.
