Duplicate annotation - named query

Hi,
Jdeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.2.3.0.
I added a named query to EJB bean, but I receive the following message:
Error(13,1): duplicate annotation
@NamedQueries( { @NamedQuery(name = "MyEntity.test", query = "SELECT /*+ FIRST_ROWS */ DISTINCT     f1.cid AS CONID\n" + JPQL Syntax error. What could be the problem?

    I'am working with Toplink on DB2 - which works great, so far - but now I face the following problem:
    A named query produces the following sql-code:
    ... WHERE (SAMPLEFIELDNAME = CAST (? AS VARCHAR(32672) ))
    The problem ist the cast: the data-base-fieldtype is a VARCHAR(255) so get an SQL-Exception. I can't change the database-schema, because this is legacy-stuff. I tried a lot (columnDefinition and length in @Column-annotation seem to be ignored at all) - but nothing worked.

    Hi,
    The DB2 Platform hard coded the casting of Strings to VARCHAR(32672) in the oracle.toplink.platform.database.DB2Platform class' writeParameterMarker method. So if the type is set to a String class on the argument, it will always be cast to VARCHAR(32672). You will need to override the writeParameterMarker method on a custom platform (extending DB2Platform) in such a way that if a string is given, VARCHAR(255) is used instead. That is, assuming all your strings are of size 255.

                                                                                                                                                                                                 ^I know that this isn't an application server specific forum but the SAP NetWeaver server is the most strict EJB 3.0 and JPA 1.0 implementation I've seen so far so I think I'm doing something wrong there.
    Someone in the SAp forum mentioned:
    The problem here is that you compare an input-parameter with an embeddable field of your entity.
    Regarding to the JPQL-grammer (spec 4.14) you are not allowed to compare
    with the non-terminal embeddable field but with the terminal fields of your
    embeddable. Stating that your embedded class might have the fields
    startTime and endTime your JPQL query might look like this:

    patiently for JPA 2.0 and hope for improvements there. :-)
    With that help I was able to get it up and running for the timeSlice field but
    I don't see the difference to the dayOfAggregation field which is also just
    another embedded class using an object of a class annotated with
    @Embeddable.
    The get method of the dayOfAggregation field is as follows:
         * Get method for the member "<code>dayOfAggregation</code>".
         * @return Returns the dayOfAggregation.

  • Mysql w/ JDeveloper EJB Named Query Error

    I have the following named query:
    @NamedQuery(name = "Node.topParent", query = "select o from Node o where o.node is null")
    However, when converted to a SQL query (connected to MySQL) it shows:
    select * from "node" where (parentId IS NULL)
    The "node" causes MySQL to error however if I manually remove them then it works. Why is the query using "" and how can I configure it to by MySQL compliant?

    Appears that by default JDeveloper uses \" in the annotations for table name.

  • How to write named query if we want to use IN syntax in our sql statement?

    I cannot find a suitable category about named query, so please move to appropriate place if there is any.
    When we write named query, below statement is fine.

    Now, my question is, how can I write this type of query when we want to use the IN sql syntax? As below statement CANNOT return correct results. Even I tried to put a pair of single quote [ ':input2' ], it won't help also.

    Then you do it the same way as with regular jdbc/sql.
    1. You start with a collection of values - call it collection A.
    1. Create a for loop that dynamically creates the string using 'bind' variables (whatever you want to call the 'colon' entity in the above).
    2. Call the createQuery method using the string that was created
    3. Create a second loop that iterates over A and populates with setParameter.
    Pseudo code
            Object[] A = ...
            String sql = "SELECT o FROM Table1 as o WHERE field2 IN (";
            for (int i=1; i <= A.length; i++)
                  if (i == 1)
                     sql += ":input" + i;
                 else
                     sql += ",:input" + i;

    A test question features a Product table with a Product Size code; Product Size description is taken from ProductSize table. As far as I can tell, the question asks me to choose between (a) setting up a database view joining Product and ProductSize, and
    (b) doing the join in a data-source-view named query. I don't see a clear winner. (My thinking is as follows.  Yes, he view would speed up the processing, even if not materialized. On the other hand, with a small dataset, the performance gain would be

    According to your description, you want to know which is better, using named query in datasource view or using database view, right?
    Based on my research, there is no performance differences between using named query in datasource view and using database view because they both result in SQL query being sent to the source system. Here is a blog which discuss this issue.
    Consistency: If you already have logic in database views, I would continue to use them. As long as you know that you go to one spot to view/change the logic. Putting the logic in 2 different spots could lead to confusion.
    Security Permissions: often you may not have permission to alter the source databases, in this case you have no choice but to setup named queries in the dsv.

    What do you mean "It Not Working"? As Kamath said, please post the detail error message, so that we can make further analysis.
    In the Data Source View of a CUBE, we can define a named query. In a named query, you can specify an SQL expression to select rows and columns returned from one or more tables in one or more data sources. A named query is like any other table in a data source
    view (DSV) with rows and relationships, except that the named query is based on an expression.

  • AVG calculation and syntax error while parsing a named query

    I've to calcolate the average of polling results for each value column (5 value column in total). I want to use this single row result line for a bar graph.
    I created a new named query in the EJB:

    Thanks Shay, now I think syntax is correct for gain an average for each column:
    @NamedQuery(name = "Polls.findAVG", query = "select AVG(o.value1), AVG(o.value2), AVG(o.value3), AVG(o.value4), AVG(o.value5) from Polls o")But still got some trouble to get a bar graph...
    If I drag&drop that query from data control, I get an empty graph with 5 values ,look http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/8710/emptygraphag7.png .

    You can create a named query using an IN parameter, but you should be careful in doing this as an IN collection is not a valid parameter in SQL. TopLink will handle translating the IN as long as you are using dynamic SQL, or disable the prepare on the query. You can use Vector as the parameter value.
    i.e.

    query.setSQLString("select * from tblUsers where employee_number in #param");

    I'm trying to create an application using the persistance api and beans binding. I have created my database and entity classes.
    My problem is creating a named query that uses some of the functionality from the derby database (which is embedded in the application).
    I have a named query:
    @NamedQuery(name = "Vehicles.findbymotmonth", query = "SELECT v FROM Vehicles v WHERE MONTH(v.lastmotdate) = :monthnumber") The actual query works fine when I send it directly to the db (with the parameter filled in) but causes an exception when used as a named query:

    one solution: assume the toplink library to be so full of bugs as to be unusable and switch to the hibernate persistance manager where it works fine.

    TOP keyword only seem to work with SQLServer 7.0 and above.
    We are using MySQL. So the equivalent syntax in MySQL is
    Select * from employee LIMIT 0,5.
    This query works fine in my MySQL Query Browser. But it does not work with Hibernate. Does anybody know how to make this query work with Hibernate?

  • Passing an array of objects to a named query

    I'm trying to use a named query that will have a
    in() expression operator (clause) to retrieve a set of objects.
    The in() operator requires an array of objects to pass in.
    Specifically I want to pass an array of BigDecimal of unknown size.
    The query looks like that:
    ExpressionBuilder seq = new ExpressionBuilder();
    Expression exp = seq.get("id").in(keys);
    ReadAllQuery query = new ReadAllQuery();
    query.setReferenceClass(RegistrationNumberSequencer.class);
    query.addArgument("keys");
    query.setSelectionCriteria(exp);
    And the "keys" would be:
    Object[] keys = new Object[2];
    keys[0]= new BigDecimal(1);
    keys[1]= new BigDecimal(2);
    I have got a conversion exception(Could not convert to BigDecimal class) when executing the query.
    Can I pass this array as a parameter somehow ?

    Hi Ovidiu,
    My apologies for the missed code. You need to pass the vector of elements into another vector, so TopLink will interpret the single element of the second vector as the correct query argument, and expend the elements in the first vector into the IN clause.
    The named query defined I sent in previous mail is still correct, but you need to pass in the argument like:
    Vector keys = new Vector();
    keys.addElement(new BigDecimal(1));
    keys.addElement(new BigDecimal(2));
    Vector arg = new Vector(1);
    arg.addElement(keys);
    Now you can pass the arg in when executing the query, and should get the correct result.
    To stand my claim, I did a mini test using our TopLink Employee demo and here is the generated SQL:
    Call:SELECT t0.VERSION, t1.EMP_ID, t0.L_NAME, t0.F_NAME, t1.SALARY, t0.EMP_ID, t0.GENDER, t0.END_DATE, t0.START_DATE, t0.MANAGER_ID, t0.START_TIME, t0.END_TIME, t0.ADDR_ID FROM EMPLOYEE t0, SALARY t1 WHERE ((t0.EMP_ID IN (1, 2)) AND (t1.EMP_ID = t0.EMP_ID))
    You can see the IN clause in generated as expected!
    As Doug said, we do not officially support array as query argument yet. I would use the proper way to build the query.

    The mapping editor in JDeveloper does not yet allow you to configure query ordering. To do this you will need to write a piece of code called an after-load or ammendment method that customizes descriptor configuration when being loaded from the XML representation. In this method you will look up the query you defined and customize any additional settings, such as ordering.
    An example after-load method would be placed on any arbitrary helper class and would look like:
        public static void afterLoadEmployee(ClassDescriptor descriptor) {
            ReadAllQuery raq = (ReadAllQuery)descriptor.getDescriptorQueryManager().getQuery("findAllEmployee");
            raq.addAscendingOrdering("lastName");
        }To have this method invoked you will need to configure it on the descriptor in the JDeveloper mapping editor.
    1. In the structure pane when the map is selected go to the descriptor for the class you wish to customize its query.
    2. Using the right mouse menu on the descriptor select the advanced properties sub-menu and select 'after-load'. This will enable the additional after-load tab on the descriptor's editor.
    3. In this after-load panel you will need to specify the helper class where the static after-load method is written as well as the signature for the method wanted.
    Now, the next time the application is run this method will be invoked and you ordering customizations will be applied.
    This may sound a little complex but is a very useful technique for configuration or customization of descriptor, mapping, or query parameters that are not visible in the mapping editor or are more easily accomplished through code.
