Duplicate Applications- PowerPC versions?

After installing 10.4.8 I noticed some duplicate applications. It seems I get two versions of some Apple programs: the regular application and one that reads: Application-Power PC.
This happens with Google Earth, iDVD 6, iMovie HD, iPhoto, iTunes etc.
What gives? Since my G4 is a PowerPC, can I trash the regular application and just keep the PowerPC version?
What's the best way to trash these regular applications and leave the PowerPC version?

I bought Tiger OS 10.4.6 off the shelf at an Apple Store. Software Automatic updater told me to update to 10.4.8. I did and now I have two versions of some of the apps.
Can I throw the non-PowerPC versions in the trash?

How do I remove duplicate applications after installing Tiger 10.7.2?

After installing Lion 10.7.2 I have ten duplicate applications, all are applications that are generally included in MAC software (ie DVD playe, iChat, iTunes, Mail, etc.). How do I remove the duplicates? I tried deleting one from the folder where I generally kept it, then replaced it with the newer version that loaded with 10.7.2. However, that created a duplicate again.

I can (somewhat) speak for iChat.
iChat should always be kept in the Applications folder - so much so that it should not be put in any sub folder (I have heard of people putting it in an IM apps folder or lumping all Apple Apps in one folder).
This unfortunately causes problems in Updating (iChat gets updated from time to time in OS Updates) and in Upgrades (Such as moving to Lion) as the Apps are not "in the right place".

Duplicate application icons when I right click "open with" ??

When I right click on an file and use "open with" command I get duplicate application icons in my finder window. Anyone know why? Solution?

Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and paste the following command in its entirety immediately after the Terminal prompt:
/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/L aunchServices.framework/Versions/Current/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain system -domain local -domain user
Now press RETURN. Your finished when the prompt returns.
Duplicates may still appear if you have different versions of the same program installed and if you have the software installed on multiple drives.

You used the data. Verizon can not see what it was sued for. The below framset was very effective for masking the undesirable information contained in the Application Express generated URLs. That is, the URL remained static for all generated page/parameter URLs generated by the state machine.

Thanks for the hint you've provided. It lead me to review HTTP header response variable x-frame-options. Here I learned what cause the browsers to return a blank page. So my first set behavior is resolved. Those browsers have begun to exhibit the second set behavior. That is, on Linux, Windows, and Mac OS the first set browsers rewrite the framed URL, https://myserver.oracle.com/myframeset.html, to https://myserver.oracle.com/tst/f?p=4550:1:&SESSION.
Note that this is not the behavior of my applications. The URL (https://myserver.oracle.com/myframeset.html) remains anchored - the location URL remains unchanged - from application page to application page. The rewrite only occurs when accessing the Application Express workspace administration login page.

How to determine the Oracle Application server version in 11i?

I just applied the CPU April 2009 for my database and I am trying to patch the Oracle application Server. I found out the Apache version
Server version: Oracle HTTP Server Powered by Apache/1.3.19 (Unix)
Server built: Aug 7 2003 19:01:25 (iAS 1.0.2.2.2 rollup 4)
But I am not sure how to map the apache Version to Application Server version. With out this information I cant Locate the patch.

SQL> select release_name from apps.fnd_product_groups;
Web Server/Apache or Application Server in Apps 11i/R12
Log in as Application user go to IAS_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin/ and run httpd -version

Is it happening with one web form or with all the webforms? If you have some scripts running in the back ground then have you tried opening the web form from IE?
If the message says that there is a calc script running and you didnt expected it to be running then Check the sessions in essbase do you have any calcculation script running in the background?
Right click on servername in Eas, edit, sessions will give u the session information.
Or on Essbase server check if you have any ESSSVR process running, if yes kill it and check ur web form again.

Apple application support version 1.4.1 is installed error

I keep getting this error when I attempt to open itunes after upgrading to the latest version. 10.1.1
Apple application support version 1.4.1 is installed, itunes requires apple application support version 1.3.2 or later
Does anyone know what to do about it?
I have already uninstall the entire program and all its components 3 times. Still, same error after re-installing.

Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?

Why the duplicate Applications folders and which one(s) can I trash?

I've tried to disregard the duplicate Applications folders on my HD and double Mail programs in my dock but would like to trash any I don't need (I'm the only user of my machine). I see that there's an Applications folder in my HD icon (under "Devices"); an Applications folder in my Finder window (under "Places"), and an Applications folder accessible by clicking on my name in the Finder window (also under "Places"). Although it appears there are 3 Applications folders / Mail programs, a search in Finder suggests there are actually 2: one is traceable to HD (hard disk); the other is traceable to my name. Which of these is "safe" to trash? (I don't understand why my Finder must contain two Applications folders--frequently resulting in the appearance of duplicate Mail programs in my dock. Any clarification/suggestions appreciated. Cap

Thanks. That helps me with the concept, and I see that there can only be one "real" Applications folder which is under Devices and labeled Macintosh HD. Perhaps what I'm trying to say is that the below that, in the Places area, the programs in the "Applications" of my "Home Folder" (the little house followed by my name) don't agree with the programs in the "Applications" folder right underneath it. The latter Applications Folder agrees with the one on my Hard Drive, it has the new iTunes program, etc. whereas the programs in the Applications Folder of my Home Folder are different (the old iTunes program, etc.). I guess I'm saying that the Applications Folders of my Hard Drive and of my Home Folder are at odds. I'm simply going to try following your idea--drag the Applications Folder from my Home Folder onto the desktop, replace it with the Applications Folder from my Hard Drive, then go through the eternity of trashing the old Home Folder Applications Folder

Logic Pro 9 will not load because it needs Pro Application Support version 5.0 Can someone help?

I have Logic Pro 9.1.4 When I attempt to open the application, I get the following message:
Wrong Pro Application Support version installed. This version of Logic Pro requires Pro Application Support 5.0 (883.0) or newer. ProKit: 722.0 (OS BUILD 9L31a) I have tried to find Pro Application Support 5.0 as a download or update without success. I am currently on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.8 Any help here would be appreciated!

This is it. Once I installed, Logic opened fine.
I do have another question. After updating Logic Studio, I now have both Logic Pro 9.0 and 9.1.4 and Logic Node 9.0 and 9.1.4 Do I need both of these on my hard drive? Can I delete the 9.0 version?

I have navigated to Security- Responsibility-Define -Application Diagnostics form then quered for Application Diagnostics responsiblity.
Under Indirect Responsibility, I could see couple of rows with Application Diagnostics .Do not look under "Indirect Responsibility", just use the down arrow button to see if you have one responsibility or more.
Verify now if I run Workflow Directory Services User/Role Validation as per the note 418765.1 case 1 for Fix Dangling User/Roles , will it fix the issueYou could submit it twice (pass both parameters) and check then.

Creative Cloud gives me the PowerPC version of Encore CS6. How to get Intel?

When I install Encore CS6 through CC for OSX, I only get the PowerPC version, which I can't run. How to install the Intel version?

You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion thread.
Also often times these type of errors can occur when the installation files are corrupt. Have you tried downloading and installing more than once? Do you have a stable high speed Internet connection?

Determining application (including version) for opened files

I have an Oracle Forms 6i client server application which runs under Windows XP. In this application, files are opened on the filesystem by executing the Windows API function Win_API_Shell.ShellExecute which essentially does the same thing as double clicking the file in Windows Explorer. The file will then open in its native editing software. I would like to programmatically record which application (including version) is used to open the file. Is there a way to get this information for any type of file you open? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. Our intention is to open any type of file through Forms and have the file open in its native application. We just want to be able to determine programmatically what application (including version) is used to open the file. We do NOT want to specify which application to use to open the file. For instance, if I open the file work.doc and it automatically opens in MS Word 8.0, I want to record that the file was opened in MS Word 8.0. Is there a way to do this?
